facts about silent hill 3 you probably didn't know !

all of these i found on masahiro ito's twitter through searching through his tweets about sh3 !

- the pair of legs in the intro are cheryl and alessa from the first silent hill, and it was inspired by a description of the box man in the japanese novel 'the box man' by kōbō abe

- the nurses in silent hill 3 don't represent much, other than the memory of lisa garland that heather has in the bottom of her heart

- the image of heather in the wheelchair on the manual that comes with the game represents heather's birth, and was based on the wheelchair in the ending of the first silent hill next to dahlia and alessa

- the exhaust fan represents heather's reincarnation and the cycle of rebirth by valtiel. when heather gets back to the otherworld, it's running, when it previously wasn't

- you can find valtiel in a locker, he is a guardian of heather while also being an attendant/valet. he is always watching her throughout the game

- some parts of the otherworld are based on alessa's, aswell as heather's

- the otherworld elevator is a homage to the film 'angel heart' by alan parker in 1987

- 'what a wonderful world' is written behind a ladder heather climbs during the game, as irony to her, but the phrase is a homage to the film 'the exorcist III'. and also, a reference to a louis armstrong song

- there's an illustration you can find in the silent hill 3 novel of harry and little heather made by masahiro ito. it was inspired by the ending of jacob's ladder (1990)

- heather in a promotional image was just in a dream of the otherworld, like in the opening of the game

- you can find in-game files on the ps2 version of silent hill 2, masahiro ito has said it was meant to be maria, but the file is named heather. they hadn't came up with the idea of heather until after silent hill 2, so it isn't her, like some people may say
