Sigma Tau Delta inducts new members

Bloomsburg University’s Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society recently inducted 18 new members during a gathering of inductees and members at advisor Christina Francis's home. 

Sigma Tau Delta celebrates students in all English tracks whom have demonstrated good scholarship and commitment to their chosen path in an English discipline. The ceremony was presided over by current president, Jose Gamboa.

Today’s Then and Now. 2008, when I received my honor chords just before my high school graduation, they were for Art Honor Society, English Honor Society, and for graduating with a 3.5 GPA, all attributes of which mean nothing now. 😆 It meant something to get into college though. But, in college I did become a lifetime International English Honor Society member and that means something important for the rest of my life and career. My name is Francesca Fontanez. I'm here at the University of Bridgeport because I have aspirations of being an English or Communication Professor some day. I love all things creative--any visual arts, music, dance, etc. I also love culture, people, and learning new things. Growing up, I loved reading, and I still do. My partner and I try to set special time aside to just read at night, and these moments tend to be the best part of my day. I've considered authoring many times, but for now, I'm just hoping to make it through school before I set out for any larger endeavors. I'm not very good at math, and I spend too much time thinking about the things I have to do instead of actually doing them. I love looking at the stars, and I want to change the world some day.

Sigma Tau Delta inducts nine new members 

Bloomsburg University’s English Honor Society Sigma Tau Delta recently inducted nine new members. 

New and current members of the honor society gathered in the home of Christina Francis, associate professor of English and chapter adviser, to enjoy a potluck gathering, read an excerpt from a favorite piece of poetry or prose, and exchange a treasured book with an incoming inductee.
