Love is a Disease?!

luffy x fem!reader
luffy keeps dreaming about you and ask chopper to cure him...

Tumblr media
Luffy jolts awake, staring at the wooden ceiling of the Sunny’s sleeping quarters. His heart is pounding, his face is warm, and his lips are still curled into a goofy grin.
It happened again.
Another dream about you.
This time, you were sitting beside him on the deck, your laughter ringing in his ears. You looked happy, so happy that he could feel it deep in his chest, like sunlight spreading through his whole body. And then, right before he woke up, you had leaned in just a little too close, your breath tickling his cheek.
Luffy groans, rolling onto his stomach and burying his face into his pillow “What the hell is this?” he mutters.
It’s been happening for days. No, weeks. Every single time he sleeps, you’re there. Sometimes you’re just talking with him, sometimes you’re laughing, sometimes you’re standing too close and making him feel… weird. A good kind of weird, but also a confusing one.
He sits up abruptly, gripping his hat “This ain’t normal” he decides.
Something must be wrong with him.
Luffy storms into Chopper’s office, his arms swinging wildly “Chopper! Fix me!”
The little reindeer jumps, nearly knocking over a stack of medical books “What?! What happened? Are you sick?!”
“I think so!” Luffy exclaims, flopping onto the examination table like a dying man.
Chopper gasps, immediately switching into doctor mode “Where does it hurt? Do you feel dizzy? Are you gonna die?!” He starts pressing his hooves against Luffy’s forehead, checking for a fever.
Luffy grumbles “It’s not like that… It’s weirder.”
Chopper frowns “What do you mean ‘weirder’?”
Luffy hesitates. He doesn’t really want to explain it, saying it out loud just makes it sound dumb.
Chopper crosses his tiny arms “Luffy, I can’t treat you if you don’t tell me what’s wrong!”
Luffy groans, throwing his arms over his face “Fine! It’s my dreams!”
Chopper blinks “Your dreams?”
“Yeah!” Luffy groans again, louder this time, like he’s in pain “Every time I sleep, I dream about Y/N!”
Chopper tilts his head “…And?”
Luffy lifts his arms just enough to peek at Chopper “What do you mean ‘and’?! That’s gotta be some kind of sickness, right?!”
Chopper strokes his chin, thinking hard “Hmmm… are they scary dreams?”
“No.”
“Are they nightmares?”
“No! They’re nice!”
Chopper blinks again “…Then what’s the problem?”
Luffy sits up, frustrated “The problem is that I keep dreaming about her! Every single time I close my eyes!” He grabs Chopper’s shoulders and shakes him “Chopper, what if I caught a disease that makes me think about her all the time?!”
Chopper wiggles out of Luffy’s grasp, landing on the floor with a small thud “I’ve never heard of that before…” He rushes over to his bookshelves and starts flipping through pages. Luffy watches him, arms crossed, tapping his foot impatiently.
After a few minutes, Chopper sighs, rubbing the back of his head. “There’s nothing here about dreaming about someone too much.”
Luffy groans, tired “Then what do I do?!”
Chopper scratches his head “Uhh… maybe you should avoid y/n for a while? Just in case...”
Luffy gasps “In case of what? What?! That’s not a cure!”
Chopper huffs “Well, I don’t know what else to do! But if seeing her all the time in your dreams is making you feel weird, maybe staying away will help! If you don't see her maybe you won't dream abour her...”
Luffy pouts “That sounds stupid.”
“Do you have a better idea?”
Luffy doesn’t.
So he groans again, dramatically flopping back onto the table “Fine… I’ll try.”
That night, as he stares at the ceiling of his hammock, he tells himself that avoiding you will be easy.
Spoiler: It won’t be.
Tumblr media
The next morning, Luffy’s grand plan begins.
Step one: Avoid y/n.
Simple, right? He just has to stay out of your way. No sitting next to you at meals, no talking to you, and definitely no falling asleep near you. Easy...
Or so he thinks.
“Luffy! Come help me carry these crates!” your voice calls from the deck.
His whole body freezes. You’re standing there, waving him over with a bright smile. Normally, he’d rush to help, no hesitation. But today? Today, he’s a man with a mission.
“Uh… I can’t!” he blurts out, spinning on his heel.
You blink “What? Why not?”
Luffy panics. He didn’t think this far ahead. He blurts out the first excuse that pops into his head.
“Because… um… I forgot how to carry things!”
Silence.
You stare at him, eyebrows raised “…You forgot... how to carry things?...”
“Yup!” He gives you a thumbs-up and then bolts in the opposite direction before you can question him further.
You watch him go, utterly confused “What the hell was that?”
Avoiding you turns out to be way harder than Luffy thought. You’re everywhere. Laughing with Nami, training with Zoro, helping Sanji in the kitchen. No matter where he goes, there’s a chance of running into you.
And Chopper, being the loyal doctor he is, decides to follow his advice too.
Which means he’s avoiding you too.
And both of them? They are horrible at it.
Every time you walk into a room, Luffy suddenly has “something important to do” and dashes off like his life depends on it. If you try to talk to Chopper, he lets out a nervous squeak and scurries away like a scared animal.
After a few days of this, you’ve had enough.
“Usopp” you huff, plopping down beside him “Something weird is going on with Luffy and Chopper.”
Usopp looks up from the gadget he’s working on “Weird how?”
“They keep avoiding me” You frown, crossing your arms “Luffy runs away every time I talk to him, and Chopper acts like I have the plague. Did I do something?”
Usopp snorts “Nah, if you did something, Luffy would just spill it. He’s a terrible liar.”
“That’s what makes it weird!” you groan “He totally avoids talking to me. He’s never acted like this before. Same goes for Chopper...”
Then you see Chopper, Luffy and Nami going out the kitchen and you norrow your eyes pointing them to Usopp "Look, they are there chatting normally. Now call them over here"
Usopp looks at you confused but interested, "HEY LUFFY, CHOPPER, I NEED YOU OVER HERE!! LOOK AT THIS" he yells showing them the thing he was working on until now.
The two look at him and their faces turn so excited to know about Usopp's new invention. This until they see you next to Usopp, then they both look scared...
"Oh sorry, I forgot I had something very important to do!!" Luffy says with a fake smile before running away.
Chopper looks at him and starts running behind him "LUFFY WAIT FOR ME!!"
In all this Nami shrugs in confusion and walks away.
Usopp turns back to you and taps his chin “Hmm… They’re hiding totally something, but what could it be?”
Your eyes narrow “We need to find out before I get crazy”
And just like that, a plan is born.
Tumblr media
Later that day, Usopp corners Chopper in the infirmary.
“Oi, Chopper” he says casually, leaning against the wall. “What’s up with you and Luffy?”
Chopper nearly jumps out of his fur “W-What do you mean? Nothing’s up! Nothing at all!”
Usopp smirks. Terrible liar.
“Oh, really?” he presses “Because y/n thinks you guys are acting weird. And I agree.”
Chopper sweats “I-It’s not weird! We’re just… uh… busy!”
“Busy avoiding y/n?”
The poor reindeer lets out a strangled noise “N-No! We’re just—!”
He stops himself too late.
Usopp grins like a predator catching its prey “Ah-ha! So you are avoiding her.”
Chopper claps his hooves over his mouth “I-I didn’t say that!”
“But you did.” Usopp leans in “And now I gotta know why.”
Chopper squirms “I… I promised Luffy I wouldn’t say…”
“Ohh, so it’s Luffy’s problem?” Usopp’s grin gets wider “Now I really need to know.”
Chopper shakes his head rapidly “No! I-I can’t tell you! A doctor-patient relationship is built on trust!”
Usopp sighs dramatically “That’s too bad. Guess I’ll just tell y/n that you both hate her now.”
“WHAT?! No, we don’t hate her!” Chopper wails.
“Then why are you acting like she’s a ghost haunting the ship?”
Chopper hesitates. His little hooves tremble “I-It’s because… because…”
“…Because what?”
Chopper takes a deep breath. Then, in a panicked rush, he blurts—
“Luffy keeps dreaming about Y/N and thinks it’s a disease!”
Silence.
Usopp blinks “Wait. What?”
Chopper slaps his hooves over his mouth again.
“I SAID NOTHING!”
But it’s too late. Usopp already looks like he’s won the biggest jackpot in the world.
“Oh...” Usopp grins “Ohhhhhh, this is golden.”
Chopper gulps “P-Please don’t tell Luffy I told you—”
“Don’t worry,” Usopp says, slinging an arm around Chopper “I won’t tell him.”
Chopper sighs in relief.
“I’ll just fix the problem instead.”
And that’s way worse.
Tumblr media
Usopp wastes no time.
He finds you on the deck, casually leaning against the railing, staring at the ocean with a frustrated pout. Clearly, you’re still confused about Luffy’s behavior.
“Y/N!” Usopp calls, throwing an arm around your shoulder like he’s about to tell you the best gossip of the century “Guess what?”
You raise an eyebrow “What?”
He smirks “Luffy’s been acting weird because of you.”
Your eyes widen “Because of me?”
“Yup.” Usopp leans in dramatically “Turns out, our beloved captain has been having dreams about you. Every time he sleeps.”
You blink “What kind of dreams?”
Usopp wiggles his eyebrows “You tell me.”
You roll your eyes “If this is another one of your dumb stories—”
“It’s not a story!” Usopp says, holding up his hands “Chopper accidentally spilled everything to me. Luffy came to him all panicked, thinking he had some weird ‘dream disease’ just because he keeps dreaming about you.”
You stare at him for a moment, processing. Then, realization hits.
“…Wait.” Your heart skips a beat “You mean—?”
“Yes bestie,” Usopp confirms, nodding smugly “Our dear, dumb captain is in love.”
Your brain short-circuits.
Luffy? In love with you?
You suddenly recall every weird interaction over the past few days. The way he’s been avoiding you, the way he stumbled over his words, the way he ran away from you yesterday. It all makes sense now.
You bite your lip, trying to contain the sudden warmth rushing to your face “So what do we do about it?”
Usopp grins mischievously “Oh, I have a plan already. Thank god I’m your best friend”
Tumblr media
Later that evening, Luffy is minding his own business, stuffing his face at the dinner table, when Usopp slides into the seat beside him.
“Oi, Luffy,” he says casually, resting his chin on his hand “You free after dinner?”
Luffy, mouth full of food, nods “Mhm. Why?”
Usopp grins “No reason. Just wanna show you something.”
Luffy shrugs, too busy enjoying Sanji’s cooking to question it.
Big mistake.
Because the second he follows Usopp outside, he realizes something is off.
“Hey, where are we going?” Luffy asks, tilting his head.
“Just trust me,” Usopp says, leading him toward the front of the ship “It’s something cool.”
Luffy doesn’t think much of it—until he turns the corner and sees you standing there, arms crossed, waiting for him.
His entire body freezes.
Usopp immediately bolts in the opposite direction.
“W-Wait—!” Luffy starts to call after him, but the sniper is already gone.
The trap has been set.
And now, he’s alone with you.
Luffy swallows hard. He should run. He should stick to his original plan of avoiding you. But his legs refuse to move.
You step closer, eyeing him suspiciously “Luffy.”
He forces a grin “H-Hey, y/n!”
“Are you avoiding me?” you ask, cutting straight to the point.
His grin falters “W-What? No! Of course not! Why would I—?”
You raise an eyebrow “Usopp told me everything.”
Luffy panics.
“W-What? Pfft! No, he didn’t! He doesn’t even know anything!” Luffy waves his arms dramatically, laughing nervously “That Usopp, always making up stories! Haha! I don’t even dream! What even is a dream? I don’t—”
“Luffy.”
He shuts up instantly.
You sigh “You know you suck at lying, just tell me the truth.”
Luffy rubs the back of his neck, avoiding your gaze “I, uh…”
You wait.
Luffy shifts uncomfortably. His heart is pounding, and he’s sweating bullets. Lying is so hard.
“…Okay, fine,” he finally mutters “I’ve been dreaming about you.”
You blink, surprised at his sudden honesty “…Every time you sleep?”
He nods.
You step closer “And it made you think something was wrong with you?”
Another nod.
You stare at him for a moment before breaking into a soft laugh. “Luffy… that’s not a disease.”
He pouts “It’s not?”
You shake your head, smiling “No, dumbass. It just means you like me.”
Luffy blinks “Like… like like?”
You roll your eyes “Yes, Luffy. Like like.”
For a moment, he just stands there, staring at you. Processing.
Then, realization hits him like a Sea King.
“…OHHH.”
You burst out laughing.
Luffy stares at you, completely dumbfounded “Wait, wait, wait—so I’m not sick?”
“Nope.”
“I’m just—” He points at himself “—in love”
You nod.
Luffy blinks. Then, suddenly, he grins.
“Huh. That’s kinda cool.”
You snort “That’s all you have to say?”
He tilts his head “Well, yeah. I mean… I like you. And you’re right here. So that’s good, right?”
Your cheeks warm “Yeah,” you admit softly “That’s good.”
Luffy beams. Then, without warning, he grabs your hand.
“Then let’s go tell the others!” he says cheerfully, already dragging you toward the dining area.
“Wait—what?”
“I gotta tell Chopper I’m not dying!”
You groan, but you can’t help smiling as Luffy excitedly pulls you along, already shouting for the crew.
Usopp, watching from a distance, smirks.
“Mission accomplished.”
Luffy bursts into the dining area with you in tow, grinning like he just found the biggest treasure in the world.
“Oi, everyone! Guess what? I’m not dying!”
The entire crew freezes.
Zoro, who was mid-sip of his sake, lowers his cup “Huh?”
Sanji looks up from the stove, cigarette dangling from his lips “I didn’t even know you thought you were dying.”
Robin chuckles, setting down her book “I assume this has something to do with y/n?”
Chopper, who had been sitting on the table, gasps in relief “You aren’t sick?! Oh, thank goodness! I was so worried—I thought maybe I misdiagnosed a new kind of illness!”
Luffy laughs, slapping a hand on Chopper’s hat “Nope! Turns out, I just like y/n!”
Silence.
Then—
“FINALLY!”
Usopp throws his hands in the air “I swear, if I had to watch you two dance around each other for another week, I was gonna lose my mind.”
Nami sighs, shaking her head “So that’s what all the weird behavior was about.” She smirks at you. “And? How do you feel about all this?”
You clear your throat, feeling everyone’s eyes on you. Your hand is still in Luffy’s, warm and firm, like he has no intention of letting go.
“I, um… I like him too, I've been obvious about it, he's the only one who was oblivous, am I wrong?” you admit.
The crew erupts.
Sanji dramatically clutches his chest “Nooooo! My sweet Y/N has been stolen by him?! Life is so cruel!”
Zoro snorts “Tch. Took you long enough, rubber idiot.”
Franky wipes a fake tear “Young love is so super!”
Brook laughs “Ah, my heart is about to explode by all this cuteness—oh wait, I don’t have a heart! Yohohoho!”
Luffy grins even wider, turning to Chopper “See? I told you it was something weird!”
Chopper crosses his tiny arms “You literally thought you had a disease.”
“Yeah! And now I don’t!” Luffy lifts your hand triumphantly “Now me and Y/N are together, so it’s all good!”
Your face heats up “I don’t remember agreeing to that part.”
Luffy tilts his head “Huh? But you like me, right?”
“Well, yeah, but—”
“Then we’re together!” he declares proudly, as if that’s how relationships work.
The crew laughs, and you groan, hiding your face in your free hand “I should’ve known dating Luffy would be exactly like this.”
Luffy just beams, completely unbothered “Dating sounds fun! Let’s do that!”
And honestly? Looking at his bright, happy face, you can’t even be mad.

Take my Breath Away || Alexia Putellas [Part Two]
Pairing: Alexia Putellas x Physiotherapist!Reader
Summary: Where the girl Alexia kissed at a bar ends up being hired as the new physiotherapist for the Barcelona team.

Previous Chapter | Women's Football Masterlist
Tumblr media
It was around twelve-fifteen when Y/n left the office at the Training Center, heading toward the cafeteria. The coach had asked her to be available after lunch to evaluate Alexia's knee and the shoulder of one of the girls from the youth team.
With her mind partially distracted, Y/n walked through the corridors of the training center, still getting used to the routine of the soccer environment. Although her focus was on the athletes, she often visited players from other sports after work, maintaining her commitment to caring for the health of Barcelona's teams.
As soon as she reached the main entrance to the field, her eyes caught a scene that made her slow her pace: Alexia was sitting near the goalpost, her arms resting on her knees, and she seemed distracted, staring at a distant point on the horizon. Beside her, Vicky was gesturing animatedly, clearly talking about something that, at least for a moment, seemed to hold her teammate's attention.
"Doctor, you finally showed up!" Vicky exclaimed, interrupting her conversation and waving at Y/n with an amused smile.
"The coach said you needed me," Y/n replied, a slight smile on her lips as she analyzed both of them with her usual clinical gaze. "Did something happen?"
"Nothing serious, just a routine check," Vicky explained, walking toward the chair near the field.Y/n crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow, showing she wasn't entirely buying the answer.
Y/n crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow, showing she wasn't entirely buying the answer.
"You're keeping up with the follow-ups properly, right? I don't want one of my best athletes injured due to misconduct or laziness."
Vicky let out a small laugh, shaking her head.
"Always, doctor. Don't worry."
Y/n approached and began lightly massaging Vicky's shoulder, feeling the tension accumulated there.
"Just avoid overexerting yourself in these first few days. We'll start a more intense routine later. But for now, rest."
With an obedient nod, Vicky sat back down, while Y/n turned her gaze to Alexia, who now wore a more serious expression.
"And you, captain? Same knee pain?"
"Yes, the same discomfort as before," Alexia replied, adjusting her posture on the goalpost.
Y/n took a few steps closer, stopping in front of the athlete.
"You should take it easier during training. You could end up with a serious injury if you keep pushing like this."
"It's hard to take it easy when there are important games so close," Alexia countered, her lips curving into a smile that didn't reach her eyes.
"Tomorrow, stop by the sports doctor's office and talk about the pain. Before that, come to my office so I can give you a full report on your case. I want to make sure we're aligned on what needs to be done."
"Alright, doctor," Alexia nodded, trying to ignore the attraction she felt whenever Y/n got close, especially when the woman took on that commanding tone that was so characteristic of her.
Tumblr media
After a long day, Y/n was in her apartment, wearing a comfortable shirt and her hair down, finally feeling the relief of being out of the clinical environment. The physiotherapist had barely turned on the TV when she heard the unexpected sound of the doorbell.
When she opened the door, she was surprised to find Alexia there, holding a bottle of wine and with an indecipherable expression.
"Alexia? What are you doing here? Weren't you supposed to go out with the girls?"
"Dinner was literally an excuse to see you outside of work," Alexia admitted, a bit awkwardly but with determination in her eyes. "But if I'm bothering you, I can leave."
Y/n stared at her for a moment before stepping aside to let her in.
"You're not going to bother me."
Alexia smiled, entering the apartment and handing the bottle of wine to the physiotherapist.
"I brought wine," she commented, handing the bottle over.Alexia let her eyes wander freely over the body of the woman in front of her, feeling a burning sensation in her stomach.
"You know, you should stop staring at me and just kiss me already," Y/n said, making Alexia widen her eyes in surprise.
After a brief hesitation, Alexia moved closer to Y/n, and before she could restrain herself, their lips met in a hungry kiss, filled with repressed desire from the days that had followed their first kiss.
Alexia felt Y/n's hand slide around her waist, firm and decisive, while she herself explored the physiotherapist's body, absorbing the warmth of her soft skin. The beats of her heart seemed to sync with the heat radiating from Y/n's body.
The kiss was a perfect mix of desire and repressed excitement. Alexia's fingers tangled in Y/n's hair as the physiotherapist pushed her toward the wooden table nearby, eventually sitting her down on it. Y/n's hands wrapped around the athlete's waist, holding her tightly.
Y/n was the first to pull away, her lips wandering down Alexia's neck, leaving small kisses that made the woman's skin tingle.
"I thought you wouldn't make a move," Alexia said, her voice still hoarse.
"And I had to take the lead for the second time, Putellas," Y/n replied, kissing the player's jaw.
As Alexia adjusted herself on the wooden counter, still absorbing the warmth of the physiotherapist's kisses, the two exchanged glances that spoke more than any words could express. It was as if the entire environment around them disappeared, leaving only the sound of their ragged breaths and the uncontrollable attraction consuming them.
Y/n, always so methodical and reserved in her profession, allowed herself to be carried away by the spontaneity and passion that Alexia ignited in her. Every touch, every kiss, felt like a rediscovery—a new territory to explore and appreciate.
"This wasn't exactly how I planned this night," Alexia murmured, a playful smile on her lips as her hands slid down Y/n's neck.
"And how did you plan it?" Y/n teased, her voice low and husky, as she brushed the blonde hair away to kiss the curve of Alexia's shoulder.
"Something more... restrained. But I guess with you, that's impossible."
The laugh that escaped Y/n's lips was as genuine as the warmth radiating between them.
The night continued with the wine practically forgotten on the table beside them, as both gave in to the connection that had been growing over the past few days. When they finally slowed down, lying on the living room couch with the lights dimmed, Y/n played with strands of Alexia's hair, who rested her head on Y/n's lap.
"I knew you were intense at work, but I didn't know it applied to... other contexts," Alexia whispered, provocatively.
"You have no idea, captain," Y/n replied, smiling.
And in that moment, Y/n wished Alexia would take her breath away more often.

I either want to tend to Gabriel’s wounds or make some with my nails 😏
Tumblr media
bound in the strands of permanence
a/n: knowing how intense his battles get when monster hunting, he must be so numb to the pain. because of course he is. it's been centuries of life, countless wounds, and he's unable to stop from wanting that infliction back. but in a different way. i really just word vommitted cause this was meant to be a drabble. my bad.
summary: he walked with monsters in the night, claiming their lives for a vendetta placed upon him by the church. but he found peace in daylight with the touch of your healing hands.
word count: 1.9k+
pairing: gabriel van helsing x f!reader
warnings: EXPLICIT SO MINORS DNI 18+ ONLY!!, love, tending to wounds, pain kink, masochism, tw: blood, breeding kink, p in v sex, rough sex, they're unhinged and in love, dirty talk, forever.
Tumblr media
Pain was inconsequential in the grand scheme of being God's right hand. Immortality ran through his veins like a poison without an antidote. He couldn't necessarily die. People have tried, monsters have nearly succeeded, but death never asked for him to deign its doorstep.
He was bound to life on a planet riddled with evil—destined to drag each horrid creature to the pits of hell with him.
But pain was a different matter altogether.
After so many wounds, knives, bullets, arrows, he could no longer register the nerves that stretched to and fro beneath his body. They were there. Unmistakable with the phantom aches and near deaths that still plagued his eternal soul. But remembering why they came to be eventually rescinded to the back of his mind—an afterthought to all the detriments of his waking life.
Years went by before he dared to ask someone for help. But a particularly nasty wound to his shoulder was out of reach even for him. Which is how he came to stumble onto your small quarters in the furthest reaches of the Vatican.
There were other healers, other doctors who could have easily stitched up his wound. But you weren't a member of the church.
He found that ironic.
Neither of you mentioned how long it'd been since he stumbled through your doors, shoving a bag of coins into your hand, before falling onto the cleared wooden table meant for patients in the city. Not that either of you couldn't remember it. Two years, three months, and two brand new flesh wounds that barely needed wrapping.
Yet he still came anyway.
"Turn into a beast again?" you questioned, wrapped the cloth tight along his scarred abdomen.
He smiled, shuddering at the icy touch of your hands. "That was one time."
"One time too many."
"And if it hadn't of happened I wouldn't have a reason to come here."
You scoffed, tying the knot painfully, relishing a bit in the harsh grunt he let out. "You don't need a reason to come see me Gabriel."
"It's impolite to knock on a lady's door this late without a reason." He shook his head, unconsciously sliding his hand over yours that remained on his wound. "I'm not one to mistreat a lady."
"I'm hardly that. They won't even let me in the fucking church–"
Sharp eyes dragged up to your face, glaring at the pout in your lips that formed a curse. He may have been a man who found your way of life refreshing, but he was still devoted to the God above. Your mouth curled into a wry smile—hand moving to tip his chin up. To remove his gaze and place it where you wanted him to truly look.
"It's not right how they treat you," he rasped.
The familiar dark cloud of grief began to drip into his iris, shrouding his once sharp gaze that pierced each part of your soul. They called him God's right hand. The man who was sent from the heavens above. You merely thought of him as the man who gripped your heart in an iron fist—reluctant to let you go.
"I'm not one of you."
He sighed. "You could be."
"Only through the binds of marriage would I enter that place and even then, I don't entirely wish to follow rules not made of my own volition."
"Marriage," he mumbled, eyes dropping to the lip you worried between your teeth. "To whom, if I may ask?"
"To no one."
"Why?"
The way he looked at you is what threw you off guard. Intense, without boundaries that may have been set in place for other patients. He weeded out your deepest fears and silently vowed to rip each one apart with his bare hands. Monsters walked beside him in the night, but Gabriel Van Helsing was doomed to wander the daylight alone. Yet he found...he didn't want to anymore.
"If I were to ask..."
Your knees almost buckled - the weight of his inquiry slamming directly into your chest. "Ask me what?"
Gabriel looked at you as if it was the most obvious answer in the world. As if nothing felt more right than the words about to spill from his lips. To be bound to a soul meant permanence in the eyes of his God, and how lovely it might be.
To have someone he could be permanent with.
"To marry me darling."
There remained an answer to this madness. A final solemn vow you might have otherwise been able to say. But his confession hung in the air like a cloud that refused to dissipate with the change in weather. When had he fallen in love? When had he finally relented to the ache that built in his chest?
When did he realize that he came here at night for you and not for his wounds?
You wanted to give him something in return—a promise that could outlast all that threatened to rip him from you.
So you kissed him. You dragged him close—your hand tangling in his hair—and caught his lips in a kiss that damn near threw him off the table. He didn't expect to finally taste you, his heart hammering an unsteady beat in his chest. But he certainly wasn't about to complain. He met your actions in kind, gripping onto the flesh of your hips with a soft groan.
His tongue met yours—hesitance bleeding through each action—and when he found no resistance he finally devoured what he hungered for. Standing to his full height, he licked into your mouth, his hand gripping the back of your neck painfully to keep you close. Neither of you even registered what happened when he crowded you against the heavy wooden door sealed shut with a lock.
"Gabriel," you sighed, bending to let him drag his tongue down your throat.
"Say yes," he growled, rucking up your skirts as you worked the belt of his pants still coated in grime and dust. "Marry me. Be mine forever."
"God above." A gasp tore from your chest when he notched his dripping cock at your entrance.
He held you there, fixing his gaze on your face, even as you tried to drag your hips forward. "Darling."
"I want..."
"What?"
A moan rumbled in his chest when you finally looked at him—the love you kept locked away pouring out into the furrow of your brows. The tears that fell down your cheeks. Hiding it felt pointless at this time. Because you knew your answer, you knew the second he stumbled through your door demanding you help him. You knew it the moment his gaze locked on yours.
Forever would be spent here. In the safety of his hold.
"I'll marry you," you breathed.
There were few times you managed to see this man smile. Once or twice when you told a joke. More often due to the biting pain on his body as you stitched him up—a defense mechanism rather than agonizing grunts he used to give you. And now when your words settled in his mind - solidifying something he wondered about for years.
His lips bloomed into a smile that met his eyes for the very first time. Light practically shone directly from the hazel iris.
You expected him to give you an answer, a shower of words full of love. Instead he sunk into you with a harsh groan, his forehead falling to yours, mouth swallowing the cry that erupted from your chest.
Lovers existed in your life before him—a sprinkle of men who once or twice believed you'd be their wife one day. But none of them compared to the one before you. Gabriel stretched you wide enough to hurt, but he quickly sought out the small bud pulsing for attention—circling it slowly with each shallow thrust.
Your legs shook under the sensations, nails digging into his bare shoulders, and for the first time...he felt pain.
A fractured cry escaped his mouth, finding its way into yours as you sharply cut him to ground yourself. Panic flooded your veins at the thought of hurting him. Only to feel his hips slam into yours, impaling you on his twitching cock spurting precum like a broken faucet.
"Again," he rumbled, pulling out at an achingly slow pace. Only to punch back in and drag out a shout from the depths of your stomach. "Hurt me again."
"But–"
"Do it."
Cutting your nails down his back—blood welling to the surface immediately—you felt his entire body shudder. His head tipping back as he fucked into you fast enough to hurt. There was no rhythm to how he moved. Rutting into you wildly like the beast he once became—his body overwhelmed with a mix of pain and pleasure. Agony merging together with the love he felt for you.
The wet squelch of your cunt swallowing him in with each thrust echoed in the small confines of your room. Each one followed by the loud resounding echo of your moans and his ragged grunts. You felt unhinged. Probably looked like it too.
But pleasure was creeping up on you faster than you could anticipate. Your nails marred his skin with each blinding strike of his cock against your walls. It drowned you. Swallowed you up with the promise to spit you back out later.
You'd never felt so whole before.
"I can feel her begging," he gasped against your lips, a string of spit connecting your mouth to his. "Will you let me?"
"Uh-huh."
He smiled, harsh and unforgiving. "We'll have a little one running around by the time our vows are exchanged mea amor."
His words struck something in your chest—dragging out the darkest secret you kept hidden each time he looked at you. Binding yourself with him through the bonds of marriage was one thing. Having his child remained something else entirely. You almost loathed how much you loved the idea.
"Oh–"
"You'll make me a sinner," he babbled, stimulating your clit until pain began to spark up your spine. "A child before marriage. What will God think?"
"G-Gabriel!" A violent tremble began in your legs, working up your body until he was forced to hold you up with his body weight. "I-I can feel it."
He chuckled, speeding up just enough to push you over the edge. A scream echoing off the stone walls—ringing in his ears as your walls clamped down, a gush of cum coating down to his balls. What he wouldn't give to see that again. Your face screwed up in pleasure, pain bleeding into his body with each scratch of your nails.
"It will simply have to take," he gasped, spilling into you with a cry of his own.
Seconds bled into a minute and yet he couldn't stop cumming. The sticky warmth of it trailed down your legs and dripped onto the floor. And he merely shoved back into your—keeping it from spilling out entirely. Intent on keeping each promise he made.
Kissing your cheeks, he found your lips with a sigh. "Take this."
"What?" you mumbled, vision blurry with tears.
The cold kiss of metal on your finger stirred you back to life. "Until I find a jewel meant to sit on your hand."
His insignia burned through your chest, claiming you under the very name he sought to learn more about. You were to be his. A Van Helsing of your own volition. It should have terrified you.
Yet the fear was nowhere to be found.
"I love you Gabriel. I should have told you years ago..."
With a soft kiss to your forehead, he curled his arms around your back. "Then tell me again tomorrow."
And each day after that.

! Warning: child birth, blood, pain !!
You were out at the barn, filling the chickens feed and water when Tyler stormed into the barn. You’re pretty sure you saw smoke coming out of his ears, his face red.
“What the hell are you doing?” He asks immediately taking the scoop from you, “you’re supposed to be resting! Doctor’s order!” His eyes are large as he stares at you.
You wave him off, “Tyler come on, I’ve been doing this the entire pregnancy. Nothing new to me.” You yank the scoop back from him, “I was going stir crazy laying in bed.”
You were 9 months pregnant, 39 weeks to be exact, ready to go into labor at any time. Your body was ready, but baby Owens had yet to say they were ready just yet. Your doctor had told you to take it easy after a fainting spell. Everything checked out, baby Owens was perfectly healthy and your doctor gave you the green light to head back home and get some rest.
Tyler had took this very seriously, making you stay in bed, and insisted on waiting on you hand and foot. He’d only left you alone for an hour to run into town to get groceries.
“What if something happened out here while I was gone? huh? What if you fainted and hit your head or something?”
You sigh, seeing his point, “I’m sorry.” You frown, “but Tyler, really I was going crazy. I needed to do something.”
“knit the baby a blanket. Something where you’re not on your feet.” He grabs your shoulders, leading you out the barn.
“Tyler-” you groan, “you know I don’t know how to knit!”
“Perfect time to learn then.”
As the two of you near the porch, you get a cramp in your stomach. It wasn’t too strong, but you noticed it. “ooh.” You clinch your eyes shut, placing a hand on your stomach, and bending over slightly.
“What? Oh god, is it time? See I told you-”
“Tyler, chill.” You take a deep breath, the pain easing. “I’m sure it’s just Braxton hicks. I’m fine. I’ve been having them every little while.”
“are they consistent?”
You shrug, “I honestly don’t know. I haven’t paid too much attention. That’s the first one that's been more intense.” You start up the stairs of the porch.
“You could be in labor.” Tyler says following you, “We probably need to head to the hospital.”
“I promise I am not. We’ll know for sure when it's time.” You sigh, taking a seat on the rocking chair.
“You’ll let me know if they get worse right? You know the nearest hospital is an hour away.” He warns. “You have to let me know in time. I am not delivering our baby on the side of the highway.”
“You told me they were Braxton hicks!” He argues. He’s currently speeding down the interstate, swerving in and out of traffic. People are honking left and right.
You let out a scream, hand gripping his shirt in one hand and the other on the grab handle.
Tyler screams with you, in full blown panic mode. You were still 45 minutes away from the nearest hospital. Your water had broke a little bit ago and soon after that the contractions began to get more and more intense, and closer in time. Your labor was progressing fast.
You’re doing your lamaze breathing, trying to stay calm, “I’ve never been in labor before, how was I supposed to know I was actually in labor?!”
You groan as another wave of a contraction hits, “Tyler something-” You reach down to feel, bringing your hand back up, fingers covered in blood. “S-Something is wrong.”
Tyler glances at your hand, his heart drops, face going pale. if something happens to you.. or the baby. He’d never forgive himself. He shouldn’t have left. He should have forced you to go to the hospital earlier. His foot goes heavy on the gas, engine revving loudly.
A new feeling shows itself, “I feel like I need to shit-” Your eyes are wide, staring at Tyler. “Tyler- oh fuck I’m about to have this baby on the side of the god damn interstate, aren’t I?”
“Don’t panic-” He knew enough from hearing stories to know what that meant. That was the key indicator baby was coming and it was coming NOW. “but yes.”
“oh my god!”
He’s immediately pulling the truck to the side, horns blaring as he cuts someone off. He comes to a skidding stop, jumping out of the truck. He’s throwing the door open on your side in a split second. Now it’s him who is calm. He’s rolling up his sleeves, pulling out his phone to call 911. He’s delivered a calf before. Same thing right?
“I am NOT having this baby in your truck!” Your panicked eyes find his calm ones, shaking your head. “I can wait until the hospital.”
“You have no choice.” He helps you slide out of your pants in the seat, simultaneously telling the 911 dispatcher what’s going on, your location and gathering supplies he needs. Where did this calm, collected Tyler come from? He was panicking only 30 seconds ago.
You scream, a searing pain felt down below.
Tyler peeks and sees a head full of hair, his eyes widen, “you definitely can’t wait. baby is coming now. push baby-”
It only took one push before Tyler caught the baby, laying her on your chest and drying her off with a towel. “it’s a girl!”
Emotions are running high. Tears are being shed. You’d just given birth, Tyler delivering your daughter. Your heart drops; she’s quiet on your chest, “Why isn’t she crying?”
“Come on baby girl-” He finally stimulates her enough and she lets out a loud cry. It triggers more tears from both you and Tyler. A sigh of relief.
Tyler’s kissing you through the tears, “You did so great baby.” A proud smile on his lips as he stares at his two girls. He cups your face in his hands, “That was fucking amazing.”
~
The EMS showed up not long after, checking over you and the baby. Both healthy. They get you on the stretcher, your baby girl wrapped in a blanket in your arms. As the emotions of your baby being earth side, the reality hits you. You gasp, “Tyler.” You cover your mouth in shock.
“Hmm?” He hums, looking up from your daughter.
“I just gave birth to our daughter in your truck on the side of the interstate.”
He chuckles, “Yeah you did. That was more bad ass than getting caught in the middle of a tornado.”
Don’t know how I feel about this one. I had a whole vision but writing it out proved to be difficult.

Crash
Summary: An accident pulls you and Melissa further into each other’s orbit.
Chapter: 2/4
Tumblr media
By the time you got to the assembly hall, most of the staff had already gathered in fold-out chairs near the stage. A few heads turned as you trailed in behind Melissa, moving a little slower and more gingerly with each step. You sank gratefully into a seat that Gregory had saved you. Melissa stood nearby, one foot propped against the bleachers, arms folded across her chest.
“You good?” he asked in a low voice. “You’re pale…well, paler than usual.”
You gave him a mocking smile. “Gee, thanks.”
Melissa, overhearing the exchange, narrowed her eyes and carefully scrutinized your face. A light sheen of sweat had broken out on your forehead during the walk. Add it to the growing list of things she didn’t like about this whole situation.
“Had a little fender bender this morning,” you said. “Just shook me up a bit.”
He cast a doubtful glance toward the cut on your forehead. “Fender-bender?”
“She means attempted homicide,” Melissa said loudly.
Barbara turned to see what the commotion was all about. “Homicide? Good Lord! Are you all right, dear?”
Before you could answer, Ava came waltzing out to the podium and tapped the mic aggressively. “Is this thing on?”
There was a collective wince from the gathered teachers as feedback echoed loudly throughout the auditorium. She gave the crowd one of her dazzling, impish smiles and started reading out the litany of announcements for the upcoming quarter.
You shifted in your seat, trying to find a comfortable position. You could feel Melissa’s eyes on you, hawk-like, cataloguing every movement. By the time Ava wrapped things up about an hour later, your breathing was shallow, pain radiating throughout your entire body.
Some of the teachers began drifting off to their classrooms to finalize lessons plans and restock supplies. Melissa started toward you, but got pulled into a negotiation about timetables for library access with Mr. Hammond. You watched her cracking her knuckles, casting furtive glances in your direction. She was jittery, anxious, and itching for a fight. Hammond, known for condescending and long-winded diatribes, had picked the wrong day to go toe-to-toe with her. His fleshy, weak-chinned face wobbled with indignity as she laid into him.
Normally you would have wanted a ringside seat, but the noise in the cavernous room was making your head throb. You rolled your shoulders experimentally to see if you could relieve the building pressure.
“I’m going to grab some coffee,” Gregory said. “Want to sneak out?”
“Yes, please,” you replied instantly.
Gregory watched you struggle to your feet for a few seconds, finally taking pity on you and hooking an arm under your elbow.
“Fender-bender?” he repeated drily.
“Don’t start,” you groaned.
Together you slipped out of the auditorium and made your way down the hall, chit-chatting about politics and sports and weather. Gregory was always easy to talk to; you liked his mellow energy and calm presence.
Reaching the empty teacher’s lounge, you suddenly realized what was missing. “Hey, where’s Janine?”
“She had a doctor’s appointment this morning,” Gregory said, glancing at his wristwatch. “Should be here soon.”
He took two mugs from the cabinet, filled them with coffee, then fixed you with a pointed look. “You gonna tell me why Melissa looks ready to murder somebody?”
You scoffed, rubbing your temples. “She always looks like that.”
He inclined his head slightly, conceding your point.
Back in the assembly hall, the very subject of your discussion had just noticed your absence. As Hammond slunk off to lick his wounds, Melissa’s eyes flickered reflexively over to check on you and widened when she found your chair empty. She scanned the room, muttering a string of colorful curses under her breath. Barbara’s ears perked up, organically attuned to Melissa after so many years of working together.
“You’re tense this morning,” she observed. “What’s the matter?”
Melissa scrubbed a hand over her face. “She’s trying to put me in an early grave, Barb.”
The other woman nodded sympathetically. No need to ask who “she” was. There was only one person at Abbott Elementary who could drive Melissa this crazy.
Over the years, Barbara had had occasion to observe Melissa in several relationships. Most with men lacking in some combination of character, decency, romance, or tenderness—all qualities her friend keenly deserved, all qualities that you possessed. Yet when Barbara had dared to imagine a potential suitor that might come close to being good enough for Melissa Schemmenti, you were not remotely what she had envisioned. You were younger, for starters. And quiet. And not a Philadelphia native. Three strikes, or so she’d thought.
But then Barbara had noticed the way Melissa found excuses to appear in your office, the way you seemed to always end up on the playground during her class recess, the way you made each other laugh, the way your breath caught when she leaned against you, touched you. Most of all, Barbara noticed the way you looked at Melissa when you thought no one else could see you. To Barbara, it looked a little like love. She supposed the old saying was true—it really was the quiet ones you had to watch out for.
“I think I saw her slip out with Mr. Eddie,” she confided, feeling a surge of affection for Melissa as she stormed away and a twinge of concern for Gregory who had no idea he’d just entered the Schemmenti crosshairs.
In the staff lounge, Gregory slowly stirred his coffee with a small spoon, an infuriatingly patient expression on his face.
“Is that cup for me?” you asked eventually.
Turning on one heel, he reached across the counter for a protein bar. “It could be,” he observed. “If you tell me what’s going on.”
“That’s coercion.”
“Bribery,” he corrected, handing you the mug. “Technically, more of a quid pro quo arrangement.”
“Wow,” you said, taking a sip. “This tastes like whatever you pour on your yard when the weedkiller isn’t strong enough.”
“Mmm,” he agreed. “The notes of battery acid are particularly aggressive this morning.”
You braced yourself against the refrigerator, trying to find some relief from the deep ache that had settled in your sides, and finally gave Gregory what he wanted. As you quickly outlined everything (the truck, the aggressive cutoff, the swerve, the crunch of metal meeting pavement, the surreal glow of ambulance light) his eyes widened.
“Shit,” he said. “Are you ok?”
“Yeah,” you assured him. “It scared me, but I think it scared Melissa more. And it pissed her off. You know how she is.”
“Of course,” he said, giving you a significant look.
“Crazy,” you both said in unison, nodding.
“And she likes you,” he added.
You felt your cheeks pinken. “Yeah.”
He watched you over the rim of his mug, a smug smile spreading across his face. “Yeah,” he repeated.
“So anyway,” you said, plowing ahead. “Long story short—I have a couple cracked ribs and a gorgeous, deranged redhead vowing to avenge me.”
“Don’t forget the concussion,” he added. You stared at him blankly.
Gregory pointed at his own eyes. “Your pupils are like, hella dilated.”
Before you could respond, a small tornado-shaped woman came flying into the faculty lounge. First she rocketed into Gregory, squeezing him affectionately.
“Good morning, boyfriend!” Janine beamed, preparing to launch herself at you next. “And Happy New Year, treasured colleague!”
As you braced for impact, two things happened. Gregory reached out a hand to restrain Janine, and a furious voice from behind you bellowed, “Hands off the shrink!”
Janine paused mid-lunge. You all turned to see Melissa, arm outstretched and hair in a fiery mane around her shoulders. The look on her face was murderous.
“I gave ya one rule,” she seethed. “And ya broke it in an hour.”
Gregory set his coffee cup on the table diplomatically and placed a hand at the small of Janine’s back. “Ms. Teagues,” he announced, sounding overly formal even for him. “I need some help rearranging those desks in my classroom.”
“But what about —“ Janine objected, wide eyes bouncing back and forth between you and Melissa, a look of desperate curiosity on her face. Gregory just shook his head, guiding her out of the room. Rather than moving aside, Melissa roughly checked his shoulder with her own as he passed.
“You’re on my shit list,” she growled.
He massaged his shoulder. “Noted.”
Once they had disappeared, Melissa stalked over to where you stood leaning against the refrigerator. “You’re worse than my second graders. I turn my head for 5 minutes and you’re gone?”
“Maybe you should put me on a leash,” you said sweetly. Melissa’s lips parted slightly in an “oh” of surprise. For the second time in as many hours, you’d managed to put an absolutely mouth-watering thought into her head.
“Maybe I will,” she nodded, glassy eyes lingering on your throat. “Maybe that will help you learn to behave like a good girl.”
Now it was your turn to squirm in delicious agony as she threw your own words back in your face. She grinned at reclaiming the upper hand. Before she could press her advantage, however, Jacob wandered into the lounge.
“Oh there you are,” he said to Melissa, clearly relieved. “There’s a meeting happening in five minutes about computer…”
He trailed off, glancing between you. “Sorry, am I interrupting something?”
Melissa shook her head. “Not at all,” she said smoothly. “Just chatting with Dr. Freud here about her thoughts on discipline.”
Unfortunately, you had just taken a sip of coffee and your choked reaction gave way to a fit of coughing. Turning toward the kitchen counter, you leaned over the sink as eye-watering pain exploded around your ribs.
“Discipline?” Jacob frowned, oblivious to the innuendo. “Any students in particular?”
Melissa waved him off. “Just tell everyone I’ll be there in a minute.”
He bobbed his head in agreement and wandered back the way he had come. Melissa stepped forward and rubbed small circles on your back as you shuddered, tried to catch your breath. She murmured soothing words, a steady mantra of “It’s okay, you’re okay” over and over again, as if saying it enough times would make it true.
“Fuck,” you croaked when the coughing finally subsided. You wrapped one arm around your stomach and stood up stiffly. Melissa crowded you, running her hands along your back, your arms, as if to confirm firsthand that you were alright.
“I shouldn’t be teasing ya like that,” she said, a disquieted look on her face. “I dunno what’s wrong with me.”
“Pretty sure I started it,” you reminded her, a wave of exhaustion settling over you. You placed an arm around her shoulders, putting your weight on her. “Come on, Ms. Shemmenti. Walk me to my office.”
When she started to protest, you silenced her with a pointed look. “You can come right back when your meeting is over. I promise, this time I’ll be exactly where you left me.”
A few moments later, Melissa was depositing you on the sofa beside your desk. When she flicked on the overhead light, pain ricocheted around the inside of your head. You immediately covered your eyes. “Too bright,” you mumbled.
“You need painkillers,” she said, switching it back off and turning to rummage in a drawer.
You reclined a bit, resting your head on the cushion. “It’s a shame I left my horse tranquilizer at home,” you murmured. She snorted, grabbing a bottle of Tylenol.
Once she was satisfied you had everything you needed (laptop, glass of water, pillow) and that you’d taken something for the pain, she reluctantly backed out of the room with a promise to return soon. You waved her off.
“I’ll be right here, updating my student files.”
Melissa hummed, giving you one last hard look. Then she turned and stalked down the hallway.

For the Jason drabbles, what about Jason conforting/taking care of reader while they are sick or even on their period?
We love a supportive man. What he receives he gives back tenfold.
Tumblr media
“Show me where, baby.”
His hand roamed along your lower abdomen, imagining the soreness in your tense muscles. The spikes of pain that riddled you bedridden during your most heavy days.
“Here?” He applies pressure, fingers rubbing circles down just under your stomach, along the spot near your hip bone.
“Oww, yes,” you whine, wincing from the pain before being soothed by his massage.
Jason knew what periods were. He knew it’s a natural thing women dealt with. He’s worked with women for years, alongside doing his own research on it during one time you hadn’t left your bed for a while, thinking you were sick at first. It was an.. interesting conversation with Babs over what more he could do to help that the internet didn’t tell him about those relentlessly heavy cycles.
Pain like this took a lot longer to be rid of than a heating pad would allow. Especially the good quality ones with different settings.
Or, if you want something different, something fun that he wouldn’t mind shoving into the microwave for a minute, he’d get you a heatable, plush teddy bear. Or a duck. Or a menstruation crustacean.
He had no idea what the hell that was until you showed him on the site. You received whatever you chose in a box nearly three days later from Prime shipping.
Don’t freak out about blood. Accidents happen. If you got some on the sheets, along his lap when he held you, or on the couch, he could’ve cared less.
He wouldn’t even point it out, if you didn’t know. If you did notice it, he’d immediately shush you in an consolation attack, hiding your shameful expression in the crook of his shoulder.
“Shh, baby,” he’d murmur in your ear. “Easy. Nothin’ I haven’t seen before. S’alright, it’s okay.”
With advice from Babs, he cooks a lot more iron rich meals for you a lot more during this time. Usually, it’s been a team effort. You cook, he cleans up, you wash dishes together. Vice versa.
This week, regardless if you suffer from irregular periods, he does it all. He’ll do it even if he was a walking zombie, he doesn’t care.
Jason will not, no matter what you say, let you lift a finger if he knows you’re in pain. He’s an expert of masking his own, he can tell when you do it.
This even goes if you’re not used to being babied, get used to it. You tend to him for weeks at a time in a single month alone, this is his way of saying thank you for it all.
“Bed.” Jason demands, not even having to turn around from his attention on the stove to hear your shuffling to the kitchen.
“But I’m—“
“I brought you a drink,” he replies. A cup of warm raspberry leaf tea sitting on your bedside.
“No, I mean—“
“I know it hurts, but you can’t take anything until after you eat,” Jason peers over his shoulder, seeing his olive green shirt loosely draped over your body. “Go back to bed, Princess.”
“Can I stay here?” You plea, making his shoulders slump with a sigh. Try as he may, your weakened state makes him more pliable to your every request.
Might as well, since you’re already up. Stubborn girl.
“Go sit on the couch,” he sighs, knowing a few comforters were folded up on the cushions. “Get comfortable, an’ stay there. Dinner’s almost done.”
Jason has pills, plenty of them. From plain Tylenol, ibuprofen, to doctor prescribed muscle relaxers, morphine, etc. All thanks to Alfred.
Broken bones or severe, suture required injuries would be the only times Jason felt complied to take them. He knew addiction, watching it first hand and being involved in it at one point himself. He only took them when he absolutely, positively needed it.
For you, if you needed something stronger, he’d give you half of one pill, or a full, single pill at most. No way would you ever fall victim to such a cruel, toxic routine. He’d keep them locked up, for both your safety and his.
After your said hearty, iron rich meal, you remained on the couch snuggled up together like true lovers.
His guilty pleasure during your period of vulnerability was how much you relied on him for comfort. Positions varied, but his most favorite would be your body laying in his lap as he lounged on his reading recliner.
A gray comforter over your shoulders, some fuzzy socks on your feet. The furnace you called your boyfriend leaving you nice and toasty, his hands settling along your hair and back, preparing to soothe and massage when needed.
He adored when you needed him, he loved catering to you. You were his woman, his little nurse turned patient.
This also sort of gave him an excuse to skip out on patrols, but he never voiced the reasons why he’s gotten calls about it. He just didn’t feel like it, refusing the idea of abandoning you late at night, leaving him tense and unfocused on his routine on if you needed something, and he wasn’t there.
The others, with their detective mindsets could figure it out for themselves as to why Jason didn’t show up on a Saturday night. Or a Sunday, and definitely not a Monday.
He had important priorities, after all.
Just him, you; snuggly comfortable and content, and your herbal scented, menstruation crustacean.

“Somebody’s here suspiciously early.”
“Oh you know, my chest started hurting around four o’clock so I had to take off early.” He accentuated his tale of woe with a little fake cough, mirth dancing in his golden eyes as he neared your seat on the end of the pier.
Could you really blame him? His day was just so painful with all that paperwork, so when his favorite girl texts him with a surprise invitation for dinner at one of his favorite places? What was he supposed to do?
You reached into the convenience store bag behind you, producing a canned drink, waving it invitingly in his direction. “Bitter melon juice for the gentleman?”
“When a lovely lady offers it,” he plucked the can from your fingers, sweeping his head down to press a chaste kiss to your lips as you giggled, “How could I refuse~?”
He sat down beside you, legs dangling over the edge of the pier. “What’s the occasion? I know I’ve been a particularly good boyfriend lately but this seems a little too good to be true.”
“Can’t I invite you out for a romantic picnic date without ulterior motives?” You rolled your lip out in a faux pout, reaching back into the bag behind you as you slung a saran wrapped sandwich at his chest.
“Oh, homemade sandwiches, super romantic.” He teased as he picked at the wrapping before taking a bite, immediately recognizing the flavors of your truly homemade chicken salad.
“What’s next, gonna slip your granny nightgown on when we get home? You know that thing really turns me on.”
“I will have you know, my grandma ended up with seven kids wearing one of those.” You hissed as you took a bite of your own sandwich before waving it threateningly in his direction, kicking at his ankles. “Besides! It’s comfy and someone wasn’t complaining last time I wore it.”
“Guilty as charged~”
You rolled your eyes but didn’t reply, the two of you falling into a comfortable silence as the sound of the waves lapping at the piers and the rush of the wind carrying a spray of sea foam lulled you into a tranquil state.
“What are you thinking about?”
His question took you by surprise. You hadn’t realized how mindlessly you had stared off into the horizon till he anchored you back in. You smiled, scooting to his side as you threw your arms around his middle, your cheek squishing against his shoulder.
“Just thinking about us…and the future, I guess. I think I’m just a little worried sometimes.” Your head swiveled up to prop your chin on his shoulder, watching as his brow furrowed below his headband. His hand squeezed your knee.
“What’s got you worried?”
“I don’t think you’re taking your life seriously.”
The abruptness of your words surprised even you. You had rehearsed it in the mirror multiple times, trying to figure out how best to address it with him but that was all out the window now.
He fiddled with the tab on his drink can, head low. “This is about that retirement stuff the association sent, isn’t it?”
“Yeah.” There was no use denying it anyways. You had questioned him when the packet came in the express mail, leafing through the papers outlining H.A.N.D’s 401k procedure before he told you not to worry about it. It was in the trash can the next morning.
“I don’t think you’re considering it like you should. You’re not living on borrowed time like you think you are, even the doctors have been pleased with how well your health has been maintaining.”
He laughed ruefully.
“Every day I wake up is borrowed time. I’m a medical anomaly whether you accept it or not.”
“Keep talking like that and you’ll end up living to a ripe old age.” You chimed with a pop of your lips, bumping his shoulder.
“I just thought that since the government cut down the retirement age for Executive Officers to 35 that it might not be such a bad thing to consider, especially,” you tapped his nose with the tip of your finger, “since somebody I know would much rather play than work.”
You shuffled backwards on the deck, hitting your knees as you wrapped your arms around his neck from behind. You rested your head on his shoulder.
“Just think. Thirty-five, a retired smoking hot former executive officer lounging on his boat.”
He laughed, his shoulders shaking as he peered at you in his periphery. “On a boat huh?”
“Why not?” You replied with a shrug. “What better way to experience the freedom of the wind and the sea? I could think of much less pleasant ways to spend your time than waking up and enjoying the sunrise over the bay.”
You squeezed him a little tighter as you brushed your lips over his ear. “Maybe if you’re extra good your equally smoking hot girlfriend will invest in a few bikinis and you won’t have to complain about those granny nightgowns anymore~”
“Now we’re getting somewhere.”
You snorted, shaking your head, hands drifting down his arms as you twiddled with his fingers till he threaded your fingers together with his.
“Do me a favor and think about it?”
You don’t get an answer before his phone chimes in his pocket. His face falls, and you know it’s work on the other end.
“Sorry baby,” his apology comes with a kiss. “Let’s get you home.”
You felt guilty when you saw the packet of paperwork on the edge of the counter when you returned to your shared apartment, having fished it out of the trash before you hatched your dinner intervention. You swiped it back off the counter, dropping it back into the bin with a sigh.
You didn’t remember when he crawled into bed with you, but you did stir when his morning alarm went off, feeling the bed shift as he got up. You yawned, dragging yourself out after him, draping the comforter over your shoulders like a cape to fight off the morning chill as you padded to the kitchen to start the coffee pot.
You poured a cup for yourself as you topped off his work cup, rubbing the sleep from your eyes as you squinted at the packet of papers folded neatly on the kitchen counter.
You waved it curiously at him as he appeared in the kitchen beside you, adjusting his tie as he plucked his cup off the counter.
“Haru, what’s this?”
“That,” His nimble fingers teased at your knuckles as he swiped the papers from your grasp, leaning in to plant a coffee-flavored kiss against your lips, “is our retirement boat.”
He slipped on his shoes, popping the front door open as he spun around and shot to a wink.
“Better start picking those bikinis, babe.”
