This takes places sometime shortly after the end of book 1. Sylvia’s POV. Very rough, but still fun and Anne and I think about this bonus scene all the time! Their first “REAL” kiss— we hope you enjoy!

“You’re sure you’re okay?” I asked.

My heart was still racing from the spectral plane. We’d made it—it was safe and it was incredible. I still felt the ghost of Jon’s strong arms wrapped around me as I looked at him across the bed, wiping away the last of the blood trickling from his nose.

“Doesn’t even hurt,” he assured me, his tone even and pleasant—so I knew he was telling the truth. “I’ll bet it’s just a consequence of visiting as a human.”

He tossed the tissue aside and rolled to face me, his eyes bright in the lamplight. I chewed my lip—nerves and excitement and what the fuck am I doing with a hunter all clamoring inside me.

The straps of my bralette slipped down my shoulders as I sat up, legs folded on pillow. I moved closer to him, away from the spectral rune of dirt we’d formed on the bedding.

“I’ll admit, I’m getting so used to seeing you covered in blood, it might be strange to see you without it,” I said. I wrinkled my nose, smirking. “I’m worried I’m into that now. Would that be terrible?”

Jon snickered softly. “I’ve heard far worse.”

Stars, he was handsome. Something tender in his eyes shifted as he looked down at me, intensifying. My throat tightened as resolve took hold of his expression, and he reached for me. I wondered if Jon would ever know what it was like to have a hand the size of a wall racing toward you. Surely not. But he was more delicate day by day, and his touch was feather light as he cupped my side, brushing up my arm with him thumb. Catching my cheek, caressing the traitorous swirls on my face.

I had to look so fragile and pathetic to him here. It was hard not to glance back at the spectral rune—surely, he would want the same. He’d want to touch me properly. But his gaze, the growing tension in the air between us, made me bite my worries back.

What is he thinking?

Slowly, haltingly, Jon rolled toward me. He leaned down—my heart racing at the nearness because here, unlike the spectral plane, I could feel his heat and the smell of him and it drove me wild—close and closer until he was all I could see. My entire world.

I shut my eyes, gripping the side of his hand. Jon’s lips brushed against the side of my face, warm and featherlight pressure. He pulled away in my shocked silence to read my expression.

“Was that—“ he swallowed, frowning. “Too weird?”

I opened my mouth, but words failed me. All I could think was how small I had felt against him—and equally treasured. The taste of his skin was fresh on my tongue.

A sigh cut above—Jon dragged a hand over his face, color quickly flooding his sun-kissed skin. “Fuck. I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have done that.”

He trailed off, and I showed him mercy—smiling, lounging back with my head tipped back lazily. I gazed up at him like he was something to be devoured.

A heavy pause drew out between us as he watched me. Jon’s expression melted into surprise—recognizing the gesture for what it was: an open invitation. A curious, dark grin took hold. In the cracking silence of the motel room, with only our shared breathing breaking the emptiness, he leaned down with more certainty this time. He kissed my lips—or rather my face—so gently, I wanted to vanish into him.

Glimmer just kissed Catra on the cheek, Bow called “Best Friends Squad” with Catra right in the middle.

And Catradora held hands. 😍

It’s official. She’s part of the team. 😁

I finally finished reading the vastly new and much improved edition of Shot In The Dark by @marydublinauthor and @kendsleyauthor !!!! it was beyond incredible and genuinely so much better than the original version from like a decade ago that I've read a couple times, which is saying something bc the og edition was already so good

anyway I am super excited for the next book oh my god the last chapter is such a tease lol I can't waaaaaaait

Shot in the Dark, Ch 9

By the time Virgil reached the house his mind had raced through every reason for and against telling Gordon what had happened. Despite not liking Scott's logic, the younger man had to admit it did make sense. But what was troubling him was that things never had much of a chance of staying a secret when they lived on an island. Alan especially had a habit of just blurting things out whenever he got annoyed, the revealing of Christmas presents year after yearhad meant the brothers had learnt to not trust him with anything important. Virgil knew it hadn't worked well with Alan not being told about Gordon, but he couldn't stop the suspicion that if Gordon found out they had been keeping something from him for fear of the effect it would have, Alan's outburst would seem like a mere whisper compared to what he would come out with.

"Virg? You okay?" Scott's quiet voice brought his brother out of his musings and, blinking, Virgil spared him a glance, realising that they were standing on top of the steps about to walk straight into the house. The artistic Tracy didn't even remember climbing them; he had been too lost in thought.

"Are you?" Virgil shot back, referring to Scott's slip out on the course.

"Why wouldn't I be?" Scott answered, frowning at his brother. He knew though, knew precisely what Virgil was getting at. He should have known that Virgil wouldn't have let his fall go unchallenged, but he certainly wasn't going to let the younger man know that he was feeling far from alright. Virgil had enough to worry about without knowing that his older brother kept experiencing moments of double vision.

"Whatever," Virgil muttered, brushing past Scott and moving into the cool shade of the hallway. The temperature had certainly risen whilst they had been out there, another reason why Virgil was glad to have it over and done with.

"What was that for?" Suddenly, Scott was in front of him, hands on hips as he stared down at his younger sibling, annoyance in his eyes as he waited for an explanation for his brother's dismissive tone. Forcing himself to keep calm, Virgil returned Scott's piercing gaze steadily.

"Nothing," he answered simply, making to move on again. He knew Scott wouldn't believe him in the slightest, but he just hoped that his brother let it go, for he had a strong feeling that if he did not, Alan would not be the only one proving how vocal he could be when wound up. He knew full well Scott was lying when he said that he was fine. All his life Virgil had kept a close eye on the health of all his brothers, not just Scott. He knew when they were fine, and when they were not. But if Scott was simply going to play the stubborn card, then two could play that game.

s04e11 - Shot In The Dark

Today we meet ... The Darkside Seekers!!

While Audrey is hospitalised with an impossible gunshot wound, Duke, Dwight and Nathan deal with the rougarou and the threat of the Darkside Seekers exposing Haven's secrets. Plus we learn more about Jennifer, the mysterious vampire novel and her connection to the Troubles.

Shot in the Dark (Jon POV and Sylvia)

Sylvia’s flight was crooked. I started to sit up in bed, but I froze in place when it became clear that I was her destination.

“Hey—” I stopped short.

She landed clumsily on my chest and made a poor attempt to straighten herself before dropping to hands and knees. Letting my head fall back on the pillow, I held my breath as I watched her crawl closer and closer. She grabbed the collar of my t-shirt and lifted it.

“Sylv, what…”

She tucked herself underneath the fabric, pulling my collar up to her shoulders like a blanket. I felt every twist of her little body and wings against the top of my chest as she settled in. Heat flushed my face like wildfire. The slurring of her words confirmed the state she was in.

“You’re so warm,” she murmured affectionately, nuzzling her cheek into my skin. “Like a verrry handsome warm bed.”

I threw Cliff a reproachful glare. “Dude, you’re letting her have too much whiskey.” Sylvia burst into a fit of giggles, and my blush deepened—she must have been reacting to the vibration of my voice.

Cliff glanced up from the laptop long enough to smirk at my plight. “I’m not letting her do anything. She’s a grown-ass adult.”

He had a point, but he could at least give her a heads up before she was too far gone.

Sighing, I traced my fingers along the length of her body through my shirt. “Comfortable?” I whispered, unable to fight a twitch of a smile. 

“Stars,” she moaned, leaning into the stroke of my touch. “Why didn’t I think of this before?”
