Hi, just a friendly reminder that Goodwill prices going up are the fault of the greedy people who run it. There isn’t a shortage of “good clothes” at Goodwill that is being bought by the “trendy resellers.” There are so many clothes at Goodwill and other thrift stores that millions of them end up on landfills every year. We aren’t running out of clothes, and neither are these thrift stores.

Blaming consumers for the increase in price because thrifting became “trendy” (and let’s not forget why it became so trendy.. it’s because we’ve all slowly been getting poorer and poorer) is putting the responsibility on the consumer for consuming, rather than on the corporations who are actually controlling the market. It’s like people blaming individuals for climate change when it’s very apparent that the “1%” and corporations are the problem, not Tyler trying to drive to his min. wage job in an old beat up car. Or Samantha buying 24 packs of cheap water because the water system in her county is broken and undrinkable.

Goodwill could price their clothing at 50¢ each and not only make the same amount of money, but actually give those thousand pound piles of clothing, that never even hits the sales floor, a second chance; instead of ending up in a damn landfill— not even our own landfills.. they’re shipping them to other countries and trashing them there!

If you’re gonna pay $15 for a stained old used hoodie at Goodwill, you might as well go to your local second hand shop instead and spend the same amount for better quality. You’re still giving clothing a second chance and you’re support local small businesses.

Thinking about this Purple Fox Fursona or Furry Oc Custom Plush and wondering why someone would donate such a well made plush.

I'm... really struggling to put my thoughts about this one in order (mostly because I lose brain cells every time I catch sight of that art).

Let's skip the dad joke and the artwork and just focus on the text choices, which are pretty abominable. It took me three tries just to READ this one (if you're having trouble, it says 'For Those That Have Ever Seen A Catfish"). I'm not sure why they thought a knockoff of the Jurassic Park font would be appropriate for a silly fishing joke, but they did. And they put it in black/bold with almost zero kerning, so the words are basically big blocks with no distinct letterforms.

Just. Why.

gonna drop this confession here this am.

recently i started wearing dresses again. i stopped wearing them in the 3rd grade because i got made fun of, i stopped wearing shorts and tank tops in the 6th, by 8th grade most of the colors i wore were black, grey and blue.

i did everything possible to not stand out despite how fat i was. for my entire high school career i wore a sweat jacket every single day -- in florida -- just to try to swallow myself whole.

it's only been in my late 20s and 30s that i've come around to wearing pinks and florals and dresses once more. things i feel cute in.

i'm extremely self-conscious because of how big i am. i know people look and i know they judge. it's why i have an overdeveloped sense of humor and go out of my way to be polite in public spaces because society never, ever lets me forget that fatness is viewed as disgusting and a moral failing.

the only reason this is on my mind is because i am doing laundry and noticed how much more colorful my wardrobe is now than it was 10 years ago.

Friday workings with Aphrodite <3

We did a self-love and self-improvement bowl today. Pretty crystals, a cinnamon stick, a feather, a seashell, rose petals, quartz, and lemon balm. This was done atop a mirror with the Erotes’ statue and Aphrodite’s statue nearby. Next to Aphrodite is her oil, her candle, and a radical self-love and attraction spell I did a year or two ago.
