#Shokugeki Next Gen

Hi! I know this might be out of the blue, but recently I've been reminscing on Shokugeki No Soma. Looking back on the extreme fun of the first arcs, the eternal excitement I would feel whenever Joichiro showed up, also remembering that I kind of dropped it when BLUE came around ... But after all these years, I can say Damn, that was really fun. It truly had some unforgettable characters and moments that I still laugh so much at.
And you, my friend, were MY FAVORITE Shokugeki blog. To the point, where even if I wasn't that into what was happening in the manga, I would search up and read your posts. On Casual Committments was my lifeline!!! Your analysis of the characters and their diverse futures were so spot on. And don't even get me started on your Next Gen!
If there was ever a Next Gen cast that should be made official, it's yours. Give me Shokugeki no Raiden, and I will be there! I loved the fact that these characters felt like their parents, but also felt like completely themselves. It was everything I could ever ask for.
Having said that, I want to finish this ask with a question that you can ignore if you like, but I still gotta ask. From where I remember and from the brief reviewing I've been doing, Raiden's final ship was never confirmed. I know it's been years, but was a choice ever made between Akane and Maria for the endgame?
Hi!!! Thank you so much for your kind words! It truly warms my heart to know that my little posts and stories from years ago brought another person some joy! A while back, I had been thinking about transferring a few of my older fics over to ao3 for safekeeping, and your message has inspired me to actually do it.
In terms of the next gen fics, I never officially decided on endgame pairs. When I initially started the project, I intended for Raiden and Maria to be together. However, as I continued exploring the characters and their dynamics and getting feedback from readers, I wavered on it until I became more or less neutral on the matter. Although I know it isn't very satisfying, I sort of like the idea of letting readers choose their own ending. What I will say, though, is that my last fics in the 119th gen timeline feature Raiden and Akane in their mid 20s, and very much still romantically involved, while the Raiden/Maria fics leave off while they're in school.
Anyway, your comment truly made my day! Thanks again!

Hiiii, D, K, R, W and Y for the fandom asks, please? (For JATP in case specific fandoms are required.) ♥️
Hiiii! Thank you so much for the ask, Ani!💜
D - A pairing you wish you liked but just can't.
I spent quite some time debating whether this question should be considered fandom-specific ... or not. But then I realized there is no canon-pairing in JATP that I dislike. I love Juke; I adore Willex. I can even accept the semi-canon pairings (Lalex, Flynn/Reggie).
So, I go with my previous/cold/passive fandoms - that would be Souma and Erina from Food Wars!/Shokugeki no Souma. I tried a few times to like them - they were the main canon ship, after all. I'm supposed to enjoy them, right? But damn, those two had ZERO chemistry.
K - What character has your favorite development arc/the best development arc?
Okay, I do one for JATP and one for my other fandoms.
JATP: Since Julie and Luke are the only characters that got character development (well, Alex got a smidge, too, but not much), it's a tough decision between those two. I'm inclined to say Luke, though, since his character development made me reevaluate my initial assessment of his character.
Considering all my fandoms, it's Tsukishima Kei from Haikyu!! His character development moved me to tears.🥹
R - Which friendship/platonic relationship is your favorite in fandom?
You want me to choose?! You want me to choose between Julie & Flynn, Sunset Curve, the Molina family bond, and Julie and her Phantoms?! 😱😭
I LOVE them all.
But the Reggie & Ray (and Carlos) friendship has a special place in my heart. It's so funny; it's so heartbreaking. They deserved more bonding time.😭
W - A trope which you are virtually certain to hate in any fandom.
A/B/O dynamics, next-gen, characters watching the show ... There's a long list. Oh, and it should go without saying, but any dubious consent sex tropes.
Y - What are your secondhand fandoms (i.e., fandoms you aren't in personally but are tangentially familiar with because your friends/people on your dash are in them)?
Hehe ... there are so many! Nancy Drew, for sure. (I know there's Nancy, I know there's Ace, I know they're in love. That's the plot, right? 🤓)
Then there's Ted Lasso, which I still have to finish. A lot of K-Drama. Percy Jackson, which I'll check out when the Disney show gets released. And so many more.
Again, thank you so much. 💜😊

Shokugeki no Kimiko à la carte Series - Childhood Fantasies and Teenage Denials
A/N: The tale on how a Chieko’s favorite sweets got revealed to someone who seems to live to flatter her.
“Come on!” Chieko’s young, light voice tried to yell over the chimes of Notre Dame’s bells in the distance. “Don’t be so slow!”
“We’re on vacation!” Her mother answered with a bubbly laughter. “The Louvre won’t be running away, Chieko sweetie!” Her husband next to her gave a light shrug, an adoring smile on his lips. “I cannot blame her.” “You’re a Nerd.” Was Yuki Marui’s prompt reply.
Before Zenji could come up with a witty response, Yuki’s voice swung into a squeaky tone as she suddenly took an abrupt stop to her walk and exclaimed. “Ohh! Look at that cute bakery!”
Zenji followed her pointed out finger and his eyes landed on a little shop with a few pots of flowers in front of it and a wall in pastel pink. The next thing he did was lifting his hand and calling out. “Chieko, wait a minute.”
The black-haired four year old stopped hopping down the street and turned with curiosity in her bright teal eyes. She began to pout. “I want to get to the Louvre!” But the second impatient woman in Zenji’s life already rushed towards the bakery. “Just a second, sweetie.” Was the last they heard of Yuki.
Zenji gave an apologising smile towards his daughter who had now also crossed her arms to underline how much she hated to wait. He slowly walked towards her then and reached out his hand. “Come on. Maybe you’ll find something yummy in the bakery and as your mother said, the Louvre won’t run away.”
For a few more seconds, Chieko fixated her father with her best attempt on a dark look. But in the end she did take his hand, albeit still pouting.
When father and daughter entered the bakery, they were instantly greeted with a warm, alluring fragrance and an excited squeal from Yuki. “Isn’t this a small, little dream?” The bakery was cozy and decorated most adorably, making Chieko’s insistent pout weakened a little bit just by entering.
Yuki stood by the counter, making enthusiastic gestures. Zenji gave her a slight nod, signalising he acknowledged her joy. He then turned his attention to the young man who presumably reached adulthood not too long ago. “Bonjour.” The male said in voice as sweet and warm as cooked milk with honey.
“Bonjour.” Zenji returned the greeting and came nearer. Chieko kept holding on to her father’s hand while also moving a little closer to him. Around strangers she was immensely shy.
In order to not have eye contact with the stranger she let her gaze sweep to the delicacies lined up behind glass, eyes wandering over golden croissants and fluffy-looking cakes. Her eyes came to a sudden halt however as a collection of round and colourful bits appeared in her vision. She couldn’t quite tell if they were a sort of biscuit or tart but they looked more than interesting and pretty to young Chieko.
“Are you marvelling the macarons, Mademoiselle?” A male voice that wasn’t the familiar one of her father suddenly brought her out of her awe and lead to a slight flinch of her’s. Wide-eyed, like just having been rudely awaken out of slumber, Chieko looked upwards, met the stranger’s hazelnutbrown eyes and immediately looked elsewhere. In a reflex, she also grabbed her father’s legs.
She heard a soft laugh. “Not need to be shy, little Mademoiselle.” It was followed by an exclaim of her mother. “Did you say macarons?” A hand begun running through Chieko’s hair and her father’s voice comfortingly murmured. “Chieko…”
With that small encouragement, Chieko cautiously turned her head upwards again. The man she didn’t knew was still smiling at her, encouragingly and sweetly. “Have you ever tasted a macaron, Mademoiselle?”
Slowly Chieko shook her head.
“Well then…” The man laughed. A laughter that filled the atmosphere with the most pleasant and comforting of merriment. “There’s always a first and I would be honoured to serve such a cute, young lady her first macaron.” His attention went on Zenji, who had just been about to open his mouth. “It’s on the house. If you don’t mind.”
Yuki hugged her husbands’s arm and grinned at the baker. “I think that’s a wonderful idea!” She gave an energetic nod. “Pistachio or Lemon would be perfect.“
“Understood.” The Baker responded, with a sparkle in his eyes. Chieko then watched how his plastic-gloved hands reached out for a green macaron presented behind the glass. Just a few minutes later, it was held out to her accompanied with what was the most charming smile Chieko believed to have seen in her life at that point. She whole-heartedly thought it was capable of melting ice.
“There you go, Mademoiselle. Your first macaron.”
Chieko continued on to fumble around with her skirt at first, then she turned to her parents a last time who both gave her a nod. One subtle, the other energetic, but both supportive.
And so, Chieko ended up slowly reaching out her hand for the green jewel that was held out to her. Once she had took it, the baker hummed. “You know they said that Marie Antoinette was crazy about macarons.”
Images of a cartoon woman in a very puffy, overloaded dress flashed in Chieko’s mind. She had seen it in the children’s book about France her father had bought her before the travel.
“Marie Antoinette?” She therefore exclaimed with those certain eager stars in her teal eyes that always started to shine when she learned something new.
The baker chuckled at that, his heart touched by the sight of an excited child. “Yes, Marie Antoinette.”
With her curiosity finally being brought beyond the roofs, Chieko lifted the sweet, green gem in her hands to her lips to take a bite.
The familiar, beloved flavour of Pistachio streamed through her paired with an exquisite sweetness that made her heart jump a little in instant joy. Her eyes radiated with surprise and happiness while the ends of her mouth lifted them self upwards in satisfaction.
She wanted to compare it to a magical spark out of the wand of the fairy godmother. Taking a bite of those so-called macarons and letting their fresh, elegant sweetness melt in her mouth felt like being transformed from a normal girl to a beautiful princess if only for one night. A glowing crown resting on her head. A wide, silky dress with a skirt that flowed in the wind and sparkled in light green.
“That tastes absolutely amazing!” She gushed with reddened cheeks.
A jolly laughter escaped the baker at that. “That makes me very happy to hear.” He set his focus on the parents again. “Enchanting people is part of the reason I do this job. And it’s especially delightful if it’s such a small person.” His smile grew a little once again. “A lovely daughter, you got there.”
A few minutes later, the small family left the bakery with a box of multiple macarons which Chieko proudly held in her little hands.
“Can I also have one?” Yuki leaned forward. Chieko clutched the box a little closer to her chest with another playful pout. “Later!”
Yuki behind her laughed. “Looks like this was a truly life-changing day.” Teasingly she eyed Zenji. “And it wasn’t because of the Louvre. Go figure.” “Just you wait.” Zenji adjusted his glasses, before scratching his chin. “But you’re right. This might become a real obsession….”
Another giggle escaped Yuki. “It better be something her future love will keep track of.”
Chieko only looked at the neatly packed treasure chest in her hands. Afterwards she turned her head upwards to meet her parent’s eyes. “He was like a modern prince, wasn’t he?”
“He’s much too old, don’t you think.” Zenji pretty much talked before he thought. It was another thing that Yuki considered hilarious. Once the next hearty laugh was over, she turned to her daughter. “Your father is correct. He’s a little too old for you my dear. But I am sure someday, when you’re in the right age, you will find the perfect prince for you. And he will gift you macarons.”
Zenji grimaced slightly, while his bubbly wife immediately assured him in humoured manner that it will still take a little while. Chieko only put her focus back on her box, while her very young, dreamy heart already constructed it’s rosy fantasies.
—
Ten years later, Chieko had grown from a timid, little girl that would hide behind her father’s legs into a still not all too tall but ultimately more grown girl that had gained a bit more bite for herself through repeated battles over the rights to her dorm-room in one of the most battle-hearted and merciless academies imaginable. Her undying love for macarons however was something that had stayed ever since that visit in the bakery.
But right now, our third year in Totsuki’s middle school division had greater worries than sweets.
“What are you doing here?” One step out of her favourite place, Totsuki’s library, and Chieko’s brows sunk downwards. The person she eyed so darkly and so suspiciously only chuckled. “Good Day to you as well, Marui.”
Chieko let out an indignant huff before setting in motion again and putting a lot of speed into it so she could walk past the highschool first year in front of her as quick as possible.
Shigeo Eizan however didn’t took the dark hair flowing past him as the end of the conversation that it was supposed to be. His everlasting smirk growing he merely began walking as well, quickly lining up next to her with just a couple of steps.
Chieko looked into the opposite direction, not intending to acknowledge his existence. But no matter how hard she tried to focus on the faculty buildings, she felt his sharp eyes burning on her.
“How are you, Marui?” The older teen beside her asked. “You looked very happy when you exited. Did you read something interesting?”
Chieko tried to intensify her glare on her surroundings as she gruffly replied. “I was happy until you showed up, senpai.”
“Such hostility.” He gave another chuckle. “I assure you, my approach to you has good intentions.”
Chieko took an abrupt halt and swirled into his direction, lightning flashing in her eyes as she sharply accused. “You don’t do ‘good intentions’! Ever! You’re Shigeo/senpai! It’s not a part of your persona! It’s not in your DNA!”
Shigeo remained absolute tranquility as he also stopped and made a slow, smooth half-turn to face Chieko completely. “You make it sound like I am the lord of Hell himself.”
Chieko’s eyes narrowed. “Am I wrong?” Shigeo leaned forward a little, his voice lowering a tad bit in volume. “Why don’t you find out?”
Chieko felt the heat rushing into her head and hated herself for it, which is why her voice got quite loud as she gave her answer. “Why should I?!”
Shigeo kept quiet for a few more heartbeats, more and more quicker heartbeats on Chieko’s side. Then he brought out a black box with a white silk-ribbon bound around it and pushed it into her hands. “Here’s an offer.”
Utter confusion spread on Chieko’s round face. Then a sense of suspicion mixed into it. “What is this?”
Shigeo leaned backwards again while keeping his self-confident eyes on her. “It’s theatre-tickets, Marui. They were given to me and I’d like to enjoy the play with someone intelligent, so I thought it would be best to invite you. Maybe I will finally be able to convince you to work for me on that occasion.”
Chieko gave a quick and hardy “No”, but what she couldn’t deny was her awakened interest on what play the upperclassmen has received tickets for. And also why he needed such a box in that size just for two tickets.
While still giving his way too content with himself face an occasional glare, she unwrapped the box in her hands. However the moment that she opened it, all wariness evaporated from her face and a gasp escaped her.
The first thing that fell into one’s eyes was the ticket reading “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” with one of Tokyo’s most finest theatres listed as location. But what truly had sucked the air out of Chieko’s lungs was the unmistakeable assortment of vibrant colours underneath the tickets, neatly separated by thin paper walls.
“Macarons!” Chieko exclaimed and was not able to hide a swing of joy in her voice and a light sparkle gleaming up in her eyes.
For a moment surprise hushed over Shigeo’s face, but it was gone very quickly. “Just a small little additional gift. I hope they’re to your liking.” He hummed and then lifted a finger to point at Chieko’s most beloved sweets. “They’re of absolute exquisiteness. Saito Momo made them for me and I think that’s all I have to say to give you an idea of their quality. Most of the girls I know like macarons. I’d say that their appeal comes from a sense of nobility in them. You know, Marie Antoinette was supposedly crazy about them.”
At that moment Chieko treated herself away from the enchanting sight by lifting her head. “That’s unfair.” She mumbled. “How the hell did you know this?” A second time surprise found its way on Shigeo’s face and this time it remained. “Hm?”
“How did you know this?” Chieko repeated herself. “That I am absolutely crazy about macarons?! That’s not fair!” She began shaking her head, her blushing increasing in the mean time. “You weren’t supposed to gift them to me! No! Not…You!”
Shigeo’s forehead wrinkled as he tried to follow Chieko’s ramble about how much she loved macarons but how she was somehow mad about him gifting them to her. Finally he tried explaining “I didn’t know about you being crazy about macarons, but…” The smirk at last retuned. “…I’ll keep it in mind.”
“No!” Chieko squeaked and began making some hectic gestures with her right hand. “You won’t keep that in mind! I don’t allow it!”
Shigeo only responded with an amused chuckle, while slightly shaking his head. Chieko stared at him for a couple more seconds, face burning and lips trembling as her brain refused to provide her with a logical and beneficial thing to say or do. “Just…Go and be evil somewhere or something! I…” She let out a sigh, to calm herself at least a little from the inner turmoil that had been rumouring in her. After a little bit of hesitation, she reluctantly said. “….I mean…all of my opinions on you aside, I should still say ‘thank you’. So thank you, Shigeo-senpai. For both the tickets and the….macarons.”
“No problem.” Shigeo purred. “I hope you will come along to the theatre.”
“We…We’ll see!” Chieko stammered. Then she stomped on the ground, tried to regain her posture and announced. “But now I will go! We’ve talked too much already.”
“Have a nice walk home, Marui.” Shigeo responded smoothly. “Always a pleasure talking to you.”
Another huff was what he received back, before she twirled around and began marching away, the box clutched to her chest where a more than conflicted heart was beating.

BABIES! Haven’t thought of names for the little girls yet but I am open to suggestions.
The ladies are not taking any nonsense. Also, I think Alice would grow to become a strong business woman.

Shokugeki no Soma: The Next Gen (PART 1)
Part 2 // (Disclaimer: pictures are made with Picrew)
Yukihira Soma - Nakiri Erina
Yukihira Jin ♂
Taking all Joichiro’s features-- brownish hair, hazel eyes. Though his hair is shorter and messier like Soma’s.
Would describe his cooking specialty as “comfortably modern Japanese cuisine”. He does a lot of food-hybriding too.
May look brash and haphazard, but he surprises people with his dedication to being delicate for desserts.
To him, having Erina’s God Tongue is a blessing and a curse because he can taste even the very minor flavor like when a Périgord truffle “has too much taste of dirt”.
Jin even tried smoking once like his dad to dullen his palate, which made Erina furious, but after Jin explained how depressed it makes him, Erina can sort of relate and let him vape once a week, as Soma suggested.
Since then, he has been cooking happily, and is known as 'Spawn of Asura'.
Hayama Akira - Arato Hisako
Hayama Kana ♀
A friend of the animals. Decided to go vegetarian for both cooking and eating at the age of 12.
Her feminine aura charms everyone around her. Even her cooking specialty is feminine with a lot of gentle colors and flavor profiles.
Also takes a liking to wildflowers especially the edible ones, which greatly inspires her cooking.
Friendly, warm, but doesn’t talk much when it’s not necessary.
Akira taught her about Indian spices, which is now her comfort food.
Hisako also got her into tea and scented candle obsession.
The only girl Jin has eyes on, but she hasn’t taken any liking towards him.
Takumi Aldini - Tadokoro Megumi
Julius Ren Aldini ♂
May look like your typical ladies man-- all Don Juan vibe, gorgeous blonde hair that drops to his shoulder, oceanic blue eyes, but is actually a softie and feels awkward when talking to girls.
Has his dad’s charm. At least half of the female population at Totsuki is crazy about him, but the only girl knotting his stomach is Hayama Kana… whom he only gazes at.
Very close to Megumi. Tohoku is probably his favorite place in the entire world since it inspires his Japanese home cooking specialty. Also does really great bentos.
Not as inventive as his brother in terms of Italian cooking, though he speaks the language quite fluently.
He and his twin brother, Marco, hang out regularly with Yukihira Jin-- only natural for them since their mom is best friends with his dad.
Marco Rei Aldini ♂
The twin brother who is always so extra in everything he does. The competitive, overachiever one. HATES to lose.
Obviously has that infamous Aldini temper he got from Takumi.
Naples is his favorite city. He loves going on an art tour, which his brother would happily tag along, but the only Italian he knows are the curse words.
His Italian cooking specialty is inventive, adventurous, and he tries to be as original as possible. Is not afraid to break the strict Italian cooking rules in order to reach greater heights (possibly to smear it all over Yukihira Jin’s face).
Lowkey attracted to Jin, though would never admit it to anyone’s face.
Valeria Ran Aldini ♀
Though three years younger than her brothers, she’s always been the mediator whenever Julius and Marco disagree on things, which is a lot.
Aldini temper #2.
“When will you both shut up? Marc, you’re an ass. Jul, you’re a wimp.” Is her go-to line. Megumi chokes on her tea every time when Takumi face-palmed himself.
But if a jerk at school dares to mess with her, she can always rely on her brothers to be her personal bodyguards.
She has a more mature side that her brothers don’t have, though. She always seems to have a way to solve problems and could be an excellent listener.
Currently having fun trying different cuisine and cooking style.
Kurokiba Ryo - Nakiri Alice
Nakiri Alicia ♀
Alicia is what people nowadays called an "influencer".
A few hundred thousand followers on Instagram earned her the most popular status at Totsuki. The queen bee.
She follows food trends and will try anything as long as it's in season, no matter how outrageous it might sound. Sushi donuts, cough syrup-flavored boba, name it.
Other than a certified foodie, Alicia also posts ASMR cooking, which of course, aesthetically pleasing and easy enough to follow.
But in Shokugekis, Alicia has so many French molecular gastronomy tricks up her sleeves and is an undefeatable beast to others. Thanks to Mommy Alice.
Of course, cousin Jin is giving her a run for her money, but they are pretty much each other's equal.
Kurokiba Athena ♀
Earned the nickname 'Dark Horse' after a successful Shokugeki with the current 4th seat as a middle school student.
Our EdgeLord™.
Like her big sister, Athena was born with white hair but later decided to split-dye her hair black to embody the similar vibe she has with Ryo.
Her favorite ingredient is charcoal. She cooks any of her specialty with charcoal. And is the only food trend she's happily participated in.
Athena is also familiar with seafood since Ryo always takes her fishing. She even learned how to fillet a salmon with her eyes closed.
Has an infamous rivalry with Hayama Kana. Their iconic, 6-hour long Shokugeki was so popular that some people had to sit outside and watch through the screen.
Eventually, Ryo would inherit his red bandana to her.

7, 24, 44 and 63!!!!!!
Thank you for submitting an ask! Greatly appreciate it!
OC Questions
7 - Do they like chocolate?
She doesn’t have much of a sweet tooth. Nagomi is lowkey scarred from making anything chocolate related after she and Satoshi made a birthday cake for Nene, resulting in her throwing up (it wasn’t the cake’s fault, but a different… surprise. This may or may not be my next oneshot idea).
24 - Can they play an instrument? If so, what instrument and what can they play?
If she dedicated her life to it, she has the talent to be a world class pianist. She started when she was three and still continues to play. She even played Piano Concerto No.2 in C minor by Rachmaninoff at one of the Totsuki banquets.
44 - Do they know more than one language?
She knows some English, French, and Italian from Satoshi. A bit of Korean too from all the dramas that she watches in her free time.
63 - Are they approachable?
She is very quiet, but not shy or mean. She won’t engage in small talk and she doesn’t smile a lot, but if you ask her for help she will be more than willing to do so.

So it’s exactly 00:Whatever here, which means that it’s November 29 over here now
And welp, November 29 is the birthday I assigned to Shigeo (one of the many fanchilds of mine)! Which lead to me drawing a picture of his hm....8/9/10yo-self or something in that range (Hi, I’m Lea and I actually have to idea how to draw children). Since I did write the birthdays of the Next Gen that I have so far into my calendar when I was bored once...I think I’m going to try to make something like this for all of them (and I’ll probably fail at some point)
Great that this had to start with Shigeo of all people, couldn’t it have been someone a lil bit cuter?
A little extra of his teen-self:
“So, let me take a look at your presents then.”
Senpai of the year, honestly.

Starry Night (Portraits of 119)
Summary: Just a snippet of what Akane and Erik got up to after the events of Snow Day.
Erik had texted Akane to meet him on the balcony of the master suite. When she arrived, bundled up against the cold weather, she gave him a questioning look. “If you’re here to throw more snow at me, I swear—”
“Relax, princess,” he said. “You’re the one with the dirty tactics.”
It was then that she noticed the bottle of champagne and box of chocolate truffles with the Totsuki emblem printed on the front. “Are those the passion fruit ones?”
“I remembered you liked them.”
Akane bit her the inside of her cheek to hide her smile. He always managed to find her favorites. “Could we have not done this somewhere warmer?” she asked, even while taking a champagne flute from him.
“Trust me, you’ll want to see it from here,” he told her, but still moved to wrap his scarf around her. It smelled of him, of warmth, of earth and ocean. She sighed despite herself.
Before she could stop smelling the scarf and find the presence of mind to ask what on earth he was talking about, the sky lit up as The Birth of Venus. Akane was rendered speechless for several minutes, sipping her champagne and watching the fireworks fizzle out and reemerge as Almond Blossoms, as Starry Night, as The Kiss.
“You really did all this for me?” she asked as the fireworks continued to burst and reemerge as her favorite paintings.
“Nope, totally random,” he replied, deadpan, and Akane rolled her eyes at the sarcasm.
“Seriously, though, I could kiss you,” she said, transfixed as the sky erupted into the bright golds of another Klimt.
“Well, no one’s stopping you, princess.” He said this, of course, with a joking smile and the knowledge that she was too straight-laced to do anything of the sort.
Due to the paired effects of the champagne and her desire to prove herself impervious to his teasing, Akane took to her tiptoes and kissed him. It was just for shock value, she told herself, only to gain the upper hand in their banter at long last.
And then he kissed her back.
It was a deeper kiss than she had bargained for, one that made her toes curl and heated every inch of her. She should have known better than trying to surprise him on this front. After all, she knew well Nakiri Erik had kissed many girls before; too damn many, in her opinion.
As their lips parted, Akane’s eyes lowered shyly. “Did we just...”
Before she could finish the thought, her lips were on Erik’s again as though drawn to them by magnets, tectonic plates, or the laws of gravity themselves. She found herself in his arms, pressed flush against his chest, but yearning to be closer still.
She smiled demurely when they returned to their senses somewhat, though still not enough to put any real distance between them. “Whatever will you tell your girlfriends?” she asked, breathless.
He looked at her then, ruby eyes alight with interest, mystery, and...hope? Never in life had she felt so satisfied by an expression.
“That they lost to a spoiled brat with a mutant sense of smell,” he said, then kissed her again.

1:03 PM Yukihira Souma: how’d u get this #?
1:04 PM Nakiri Erina: Alice gave it to me.
1:04 PM Yukihira Souma: sup
1:05 PM Nakiri Erina: I’m opening Kiralyno Haza. It’s not like I want you to show up or anything.
message opened
1:37 PM Nakiri Erina: Hello?
2:40 PM Yukihira Souma: hey sorry i just got on break. congrats nakiri!
2:41 PM Nakiri Erina: It was expected.
2:41 PM Yukihira Souma: surprised it took you so long to open. hurry up and get your 3 stars bubs then we’ll really see who’s the better chef
2:41 PM Yukihira Souma: and did you get tired of shinomiya or did he get tired of you?
2:42 PM Nakiri Erina: I got tired of him. Duh. Are you not coming?
2:42 PM Yukihira Souma: save 4 seats for me. i’ll be a balloon by the time im done w your food also i hope you have enough ingredients for a shokugeki after
“Ugh. You’re as shit at texting as ever,” Erina groaned, throwing down her phone, but then she picked it up again to stare at those four particular characters. Bubs. God, it had been so long since she’d seen that in her messages.
(under the cut to see souma and erina start to get their shit together lol)
To think that she had been the one to break the radio silence between them — good lord, that was fucking annoying. It was weird to think about. There had been plenty of opportunities for them to talk again, and yet they’d somehow managed to evade each other since they’d run into each other at Nakiri Mansion. Whether this was coincidence she had no idea, but Souma hadn’t been at the official Totsuki-sponsored 92nd gen alumni reunion, and Shinomiya had dragged Erina to some culinary conference that made her miss the freshman training camp where Souma threatened the living shits out of the poor first years but ended up not cutting anybody from the roster.
Erina had done her best not to linger on the fact that she had had to ask Alice for Souma’s new number, but goddamn would that remain at the forefront of her mind for the week following Kiralyno Haza’s debut until she got frustrated enough to the point where she damn near chucked her own phone out the window.
It was thanks to Alice that her condo was still in one piece.
The COO of the Nakiri-Totsuki Group was sitting next to her at a bar in Budapest, helping herself to her third shot of tequila, a few empty glasses and a growing tab between them. “Yukihira’s coming?”
Erina nodded, smiling despite herself. “Yeah. I guess he is.”
Taking sudden interest in her drink, Alice remained silent for a thoughtful moment before she said, “I haven’t seen you this happy since you two broke up.”
With a half-hearted huff, Erina scoffed, “Yeah, right.”
Alice gave her a long look. “I’m not kidding, Erina. Who was that other guy you were seeing? Darren?”
“Aaron. Darren was before him.”
“Doesn’t he have a 3000-seater concert hall named after him?”
“I couldn’t care less.” Erina said, and Alice knew it was 593% true.
Whenever tolerating a guy got tedious, Erina had extinguished whatever spark he thought he had ignited, pretended to be hung up on it, and started over, systematically breaking hearts left and right, all the while building titanium defenses around her own.
And then, a year and half ago, she’d seen Yukihira Souma at Nakiri Mansion, and everything had changed.
So. Much. Pining. Alice was more than a few years past sick of how long those two idiots were dragging their shit out.
Erina picked up her belongings. “We should probably stop day-drinking.”
“Sure,” Alice said, paying the tab before Erina could get her wallet out.
“I’ll pay you back for that,” Erina promised as they left the bar.
Alice put a hand on Erina’s shoulder. “You can pay me back by not fucking up your confession again.”
At this, Erina frowned. A withering counter should’ve been second nature, but she found herself incapable. She wanted to believe that whatever piece of her heart that had clung to the hope that Yukihira Souma would come back to her was nothing more than a memory. More than anything, she wished the voice at the back of her head telling her to move on and forget him and their past would finally win out, because there were people in her present waiting for her, and it would be a sin to ignore that.
But she couldn’t say the words; her heart belonged to Yukihira Souma — would always belong to him — and all broken promises and relationships notwithstanding, that was something she could not deny.
-
Although Souma technically hadn’t been invited to the kitchen for shift drinks when the front doors closed, he had taken the liberty of bringing a bottle of cab sauv that he and Erina finished in like ten seconds flat, to hell with sharing with staff, family, and friends.
The second she felt the words wanna come over? slip out of her atmosphere-drunk mouth, she knew it was going to take more self-control than she had not to demand he stay with her forever.
“So, Yukihira,” she said like they hadn’t been catching up for the last two hours when they were sitting on the couch in her living room with pinot noir. “How’ve you been?”
The corners of Souma’s lips twitched. “Not bad,” he replied. “Mostly cooking. A few interviews and shit. I’ve been keeping up with all your stuff, by the way. Three tastings in twelve hours next Monday seems like too much, Nakiri.”
Erina frowned. “Even if you were as talented a stalker as Mimasaka Subaru, how the fuck would you know that?”
He held up his phone. “You were signed into my calendar app when I last downloaded a backup copy four years ago. So every time I get a new phone, I transfer all the old data.”
Erina stared at him, horrified. “Holy shit. You’ve seen everything?”
Shrugging, Souma said, “Not everything. Just… your dates with Darren. And Aaron. Also, I knew about Kiralyno opening before you texted me so I’d already cleared out my schedule by then.”
Erina had stopped listening halfway through. “Wait, Yukihira…”
“It’s okay, Nakiri.” Souma waved it off. “You’re here with me now. All that matters. Let’s not look too far into our past, yeah?”
“Don’t look into my future either, idiot! Sign out of my Google calendar right now!”
Souma shook his head seriously. “Sorry, Nakiri, I don’t think that’s possible.”
“Why the fuck not?”
He gazed at her intently and rested his chin on his fist. “I need to make sure I’ll still be in it.”
Erina rolled her eyes. “Don’t say sappy shit like that. It doesn’t suit you.”
“What if I just stayed?” he asked.
She sighed. “I think the question is, would I even let you? I thought we’re putting the past behind us? Don’t you want this back?” She pointed at the white cloth she was wearing on her wrist. His white cloth.
Souma ignored the second question and pulled Erina to him by her waist, close enough that she could feel his warm breath as he spoke, forehead brushing hers. “Another thing we both know is that you and I could never be just friends.”
“Take your hands off me or I swear I’m either going to spill my wine or kiss you, and I seriously do not care which.”
He leaned back with a sad smile. “You wouldn’t let me stay, would you, Nakiri?”
“I couldn’t,” she said helplessly. “We don’t even know where our lines are.”
“Do we need lines?” Souma asked, finishing his glass and balancing it on his knee. “You and I are beyond this dimension.”
Erina stared at him, memorizing every last square centimeter of his features — the way his hair seemed to get shorter every time they met until he somewhat resembled someone of his culinary pedigree; the way the creases formed on his sleeves along the contours of his toned arms.
“You know, Nakiri, if you let me stay, you wouldn’t have to stare so much.”
She tore her gaze from his collarbone, her whole face turning red. In all her twenty-one years, that had to be the most embarrassing moment of her life. “Shut up! I’m not staring!”
He was watching her with wistful eyes. “I wouldn’t mind if you were…”
And they both heard it.
I wouldn’t mind if you were mine.

Ryo had to deal with it so Auden has to deal with it too. The Kurokiba men are very resilient, don’t worry.
Auden is from the lovely @audsen
The twin girls are my idea of RyoAli kids, Ella is the dark haired one and Kairi is the blonde one.
So, what better thing to do than combine the two for utter chaos because BIG BROTHER is HOME!

A Little Advice
Summary: Yukihira Soma bonded with his son over a bottle of beer and a handful of the infamous advice.
“Watcha doin’ up here, Sport?”
Startled, Jin turned around to find his dad, handing him a bottle of beer. Guess cold nights go well with beers, “Seriously, Dad?”
“Keep this between you and me.” Soma fetched his son a secretive wink, “I know you’ve been sniffing it.”
“But I’m not even 20 yet.”
At his son’s reminder, he chuckled, “You’re just like your mom when she was your age, y’know? Not following the textbook is fine sometimes. Have a sip and tell me what you think with that tongue of yours, yeah?”
Despite his will, Jin really was curious, “Thanks, I guess.”
Soma sat next to him when the boy took a sip and winced at the unfamiliar sensation of lager beer.
“And?”
“It’s crisp. I think it’s the yeast that gives it that lightness: Saccharomyces Uvarum-- the very fragile kind. I’ve seen Abel work with this at the dorm.”
“You’re good.” Soma complimented after taking a sip himself. “You really are Nakiri Erina’s son, alright.”
At that, Jin glanced over to his old man, “Come to think of it, you speak a lot of Mom, you know?”
“Well, what can y’do, Jin?” Soma shrugged, “She’s the person.”
Alright, Jin always knew his Mom is this rockstar, awesome, culinary Goddess, all that jazz, but he got the feeling that’s not what Soma was referring to.
“What person, Dad?”
Soma shifted his attention to his son, giving him a side smile like he’s finally going to tell him something he’d been keeping.
“The person I’d give all my cooking to.”
Oh, that one. “Popops have said the same thing.”
“Found ‘em yet?”
Jin shrugged at the question, “I’m not even sure what that means. I thought it was Mom.”
“Nah, Son. Mom’s mine.” Soma wiggled his finger, “No one surfs that turf but me.”
Only Soma would say that line and sounded cringey as hell, “Mom told me you were disgusting. I can see why now.”
“Doin’ your old man dirty, eh.” He chuckled.
“Whatever, Dad. I gotta ask,” Jin put his beer down, “How’d you know it was Mom?”
Soma curled his lips for a few moments before answering, “Well, if you find someone who puts that drive on you to become a better cook, the rest arranges itself. Before y’knew, it’s not about cooking anymore.”
Jin paused at his Dad’s explanation, nodding as if he’d absorbed those words like a sponge.
“Got someone in mind?” Soma finally asked.
Frankly, for Jin, it was too early to tell. But then he considered those things he had been doing, whom he had in mind when he created a recipe, the last thing on his mind before he went to bed, and the first thing when he woke up.
It might just be that pretty little thing, with flowers on her cotton candy hair strands-- maybe.
“Yeah,” The boy answered confidently. “But I’m not telling ya just yet.”
A/N: Yes, yes. This is just the first drabble that includes one of my fanchildren. Hope you all enjoy this because I certainly enjoy writing it despite being a little rusty :-)
