🎫 Erik x Sumire? For old times sake. I miss them and your SNS OC's
Hi there! Thanks for the ask! It makes me so happy to know someone out there is still thinking about these characters! I'm honestly struggling to remember what I have and haven't already written about when it comes to those two, so I apologize if this ends up being a repeat.
The ring Erik proposes to Sumire with is the same engagement ring Soe gave to Leonora years ago. It's been in the Nakiri family for a few generations, and it ends up going really well with Sumire's classic fashion sense. Erik's grandparents happily gave it to him for this purpose because they adore Sumire and wanted to welcome her into the family.

Suuuper gaaaayyyyyy. Anyways, I wanted to say more on why Erina is a festering sack-of-shit garbage person. Firstly, her opinions on food are just objectively wrong. She turns up her nose at ‘common, peasant food’ which is weird on multiple levels: not only can any cook with a modicum of food history be able to explain the extent to which haute cuisine draws upon and is nourished by common peasant traditions (I mean fancy French cuisine itself is nothing but this particular interplay) but there has been a significant trend over the last decade in high cuisine towards rusticism - the locavore movement being perhaps its most visible influence that has bled into the mainstream: the tendency over the last decade-and-change towards deconstructionism of high food culture - both in molecular gastronomy and its diametric opposite in rusticism - is something she seems utterly ignorant of, as though her only experience with food is overpriced French restaurants that cater to the gullible by overloading every plate with a plethora of nonsense. It often seems that she has contempt for simplicity - which seems ridiculous given that her birth culture gave us the elegance of sashimi, a venerable culinary tradition whose masters attempt to perfect the art of serving a single ingredient. Her snobbery towards ‘common’ chefs becomes even more inexplicable given that we are to presume she has some kind of knowledge of great chefs who, as a body, living or dead, come as often from nowhere as from schools if not more so. Redzepi trained as an in-kitchen apprentice. Adrià started as a dishwasher. Keller never went to a school. Massimo trained as a lawyer. Blumenthal worked as a repo man and taught himself cooking at night. THESE ARE SOME OF THE TOP GODDAMN CHEFS IN THE WORLD AND ERINA SHOULD KNOW THIS. Erina’s snobbery is nauseatingly silly - the show needs a Tsundere ice princess because this is fucking anime so Erina is what we get, but contextually it makes no sense. ‘Oh, you cook in a small restaurant?’ SO DID MOST OF THE PEOPLE WITH MICHELIN STARS. I mean her whole goddamn deal is to deny reality based on the fact that this boy from this little kitchen can’t possible cook good food - but the best sushi restaurant in the world, the only one with three Michelin stars, seats ten people and is practically inside a goddamn subway station. If Erina’s argument is that 90s-style haute cuisine was the ne plus ultra of cooking - that any deviation from this was an anathema - then I could accept that as an element of her character, but instead we are given a so-called food ‘expert’ whose mastery is trapped in the 90s and no one else seems to realize this. SECOND: As a writer her otiose critiques make my blood boil. If she was attempting to be the Erik Satie of the culinary world I could give her a pass, but she’s not, so I won’t. We see a couple times that she is more than capable of giving a critique that is actually understandable, but most of the time she would rather speak in pseudo-koans that we’re supposed to take as a really deep understanding of food. But they’re not, because they’re nonsense. Criticism that cannot be comprehended is useless criticism. All Erina does is be cryptically insulting and then act like it’s a public service. Third: Perhaps to a greater degree than any other art form, food is subjective to the consumer. Erina passes judgement as though her word is law - and to be fair, to a certain extent this is true of food critics generally - but Erina’s nonsense of a ‘god tongue’ brings-in a whole new level of absolutism and absurdity. Take salt, for example - there is no way to perfectly salt a meal because everyone’s sodium levels are different. Someone who has spent all day swimming in an ocean is going to have a much higher need of sodium in their food than someone who hasn’t - the body will instinctively respond to the mild sodium deficiency (which is why beach cooks who spent the morning surfing before their shift need to be damn careful while seasoning their dish.) Somewhere around 10% of people find cilantro to taste like soap - always. There is no ‘correct’ amount of cilantro in a dish that won’t taste off to them - they have a fundamentally different palette than other people. Familiarity in youth can breed an appreciation for flavours that might be impossible to learn in adulthood - which is why North American doesn’t do a roaring trade in salmiakki and haute cuisine still hasn’t latched-on to lutefisk (man, what is it with Scandinavia?) That doesn’t even begin to get into shit like allergies - the God Tongue decrees that this is the right amount of peanuts in this dish, enjoy that anaphylactic shock. My point is that, unlike my opinions, there is nothing objectively right with flavours - more-or-less. The whole model of haute cuisine is predicated on certainly truths - quality ingredients, dedication to craft - that I don’t deny, but the idea of a ‘god tongue’ stretches my suspension of disbelief to the breaking point because it doesn’t mean anything. Why would any restaurant give a shit what this haughty supertaster thinks about anything - her gross mutant palette is so hilariously oversensitive it’s pointless to try and satisfy itand- besides: none of their customers will notice the alleged ‘flaws’ because they’re not garbage mutants like her. If she had a ‘God Eye’ and complained that your 100000x100000 pixel image had a single mis-aligned pixel, you probably wouldn’t give a shit because none of your customers are humanly capable of noticing the discrepancy so there’s zero point wasting time and money fixing it. Seeking Erina’s approval would be a waste of any company’s resources: just get a likeable celebrity to sing your praises. Fourth: Erina has fans in the school, which is weird because she’s such a  relentless horrible person who is rude and nasty to essentially everyone she meets, and holds shokugeki solely for her own personal enrichment. I would get it is people cheered her as a villain because hey - everyone loves a heel - but instead they hold her in awe... I guess because of her cooking prowess, but prowess didn’t stop people from hating Subaru, another nasty piece of work. People cheer Erina because the narrative needs her to have cachet, but she doesn’t even have ‘mean girl’ charm - the catty queen bee who rules the school even though she’s nasty. She’s not funny, has no sense of humour, no ability to talk to other people - absolutely nothing going for her other than her skills as a chef which, again, didn’t do much for Subaru. Everyone should be showing up to boo Erina - god, it would make her so much more effective if she fed off their hatred and negativity, her ego swelling as she ‘proved’ herself right again and again, spitting in the face of all the haters. Instead we get the super-popular charmless asshat who everyone is gaga for for no discernible reason. In conclusion, Erina Nakiri doesn’t know anything about food and lacks self-awareness of the echo-chamber of her own unjustified snobbery. She’s literal garbage.

Erik and sumire for the most recent post!!
Sumire
Sumire is actually kind of short, but people tend not to notice because she dresses in a way that creates the illusion of height. (Bella only noticed when they started living together and she was like “Oh my god; you’re tiny!”)
She has contemplated the idea of a poly relationship with Erik and Akane more than once, but is way too shy to bring the possibility up to either of them.
Feels a spiritual connection with the character Mai from Avatar: The Last Airbender
Her dessert palate became pretty refined during her brief friendship with Maria Aldini, but her favorite ice cream flavor is still vanilla.
She made out with Sadatsuka Nana at a party when they were second years.
Sumire is on the phone gossiping with her dad Subaru at least once a week.
She’s always on her laptop or tablet and rarely writes by hand, but when she does, she always uses a very specific kind of gel pen.
She’s a very good driver, and drives her friends everywhere because she does not trust a single one of them.
Raiden randomly introduced her to Flamin’ Hot Cheetos and they changed her life. (Akane @ Raiden “Stop spreading your bad habits to other people!!!”)
She’s a pretty good dancers, but will just hang out by the snack table at parties unless she’s had a little to drink.
Erik
Erik has been in charge of handling the family’s taxes since he was like fourteen because Alice cannot be bothered and Ryo gets so annoyed with it he’s literally thrown computers out the window.
If he ever committed a murder and needed help hiding the body, the first person he would call is Aunt Erina. They’re not super close, but the two of them have that kind of relationship.
Erik and Great-grandpa Senzaemon were the only two people who could talk his sister Sofia down from a tantrum when she was little. Sofia was very put out by the idea of him having to go to school and leave her alone for hours at a time.
Also, knows how to do hair because little sister.
Ryo kind of enrolled him in a not-so-secret underground fight club
Akane made him watch Gossip Girl with him, and he was pretty into it after a while. He would definitely rewatch it if the opportunity ever presented itself.
He is basically incapable of sleeping in because Ryo, Soe, and Senzaemon programmed him to wake up at the crack of dawn and work out; he hates it so much, but it’s part of him.
He cannot play any instrument to save his life.
He’s never lost a game of Monopoly.
He is the live-in WiFi fixer for Akane and her friends.

Hey, if you've gotten to the point of knowing the futures of the kids of the sns characters, could you do a what restaurants they own? Similiar to what you did for the sns characters. Especially Erik, Raiden, Sosuke, Akane, Bella, Sumire and maybe Maria. But honestly just do whoever you've got figured out. Thank you! Also, I really love Samara fyi
Hi! Happy New Year! In truth, I haven’t gotten very far in planning the futures of the 119th gen, but I’ll be happy to share what I’ve figured out so far!
Erik
I don’t see Erik opening a restaurant right after graduation the way Alice did. Soe (and Senzaemon, when he was alive) kind of groomed him to handle the external affairs of the Nakiri Group, so I see him going right into the business side of things.
In his early twenties, Erik would act as something of a liaison between the tech world and the culinary world, and he’d get a few lucrative patents under his belt.
He’d probably live his best tycoon/inventor life all through his twenties, and only consider opening a restaurant once he’s settled down and gotten married.
Raiden
In Raiden’s early career, he’d travel a lot, making documentaries about different culinary traditions and issues within the industry (sometimes in collaboration with his mentor and spiritual advisor, Rindou).
He’s always on the move and doesn’t even think about opening a restaurant until Akane and Sosuke start racking up Michelin stars and he’s like “Oh, shit. Better get started!”
His debut restaurant, Sojourn, is in Paris (because of course). It’s an homage to the rare ingredients and techniques he encountered while abroad. It’s quite niche and high-end, but definitely receives rave reviews and critical acclaims (three stars within the first few years).
Second restaurant would open a few years later (because Raiden still cannot bear to stay in one place) in California. This one would be a lot more casual and accessible, but it would still be considered gourmet cuisine.
Sosuke
Right after graduation, Sosuke takes over the head chef position at Souma’s New York restaurant. After two years or so, he’d leave that role to open his own barbecue restaurant in Manhattan.
The restaurant is an overnight success, and the hype around it quickly elevates him to the status of celebrity chef. He earns a star within the first year, and the restaurant’s popularity helps Sosuke’s brewing company take off.
Around this time, he gets married to Isabella and the Ibusaki brewery joins its fortunes with those of the Aldini wineries. He ends up a businessman overnight and it’s a while before he can even consider opening another restaurant.
Akane
After she graduates as first seat, Akane moves to Paris and takes over as head chef of Tsukasa Eishi’s flagship restaurant.
After proving her mettle to the Parisian culinary scene, she opens Le Diadème, a restaurant dedicated to French haute cuisine. Her keen aesthetic sense and emphasis on fragrance set her apart from other chefs, and she’s the first in the 119th generation to earn three stars.
Her second restaurant would focus more on Indian cuisine and the kinds of flavors and scents she grew up with.
Bella
Bella would open her restaurants early in her career, knowing that she would eventually have to take over as head of the Mito Group.
Her first place would be a steakhouse in Manhattan, playfully called The Meat Mansion. Given her access to the highest quality beef cuts as scion of the Mito family, her success is almost guaranteed, and she easily becomes a sensation and begins earning stars.
Her second restaurant, Decadence, is an ode to comfort foods. Her menus combine a fusion of rich Italian dishes  and the culinary traditions of the American south. A critic noted, affectionately, that one would gain five pounds just walking through the door, but the culinary experience is well worth it.
Sumire
Sumire is tapped by the WGO before she even graduates from Totsuki, and begins her career as a bookman. She quickly rises through the ranks based on her ability to use technology to identify meritorious restaurants that were previously overlooked by the WGO’s selection process.
She will be offered the role of bookmaster after Anne retires (I like to think that she’d be the one to succeed Mana), and may or may not accept it (at this point, Alice offers her a top executive role at Nakiri International on her son’s recommendation).
Maria
After graduation, Maria returns home to Tuscany and begins planning to take over Trattoria Aldini.
After a few years, she opens a sweets shop and bakery—named Paradiso after her signature dish—and it definitely puts her on the path to dethrone Momo as the world’s top pâtissière. Her ambitions may or may not be limited by her desire to put down roots and start a family, but only time will tell.

Raiden VS erik
Bella or Sumire
Sosuke + raiden
Raiden v. Erik - Typically Raiden wins in a shokugeki and Erik wins in a fist fight because Raiden has been facing off against Souma and Grandpa Jo since he was little and Ryo let Erik participate in underground fight clubs when he was growing up.
Bella or Sumire - (Wow. I feel attacked by this lol) I love them both SOO much, but if I had to choose one I like better, it’s gotta be Bella. I think she’s my favorite OC overall because she has such a big, vibrant personality.
Sosuke + Raiden - I see their relationship as kind of familial. For Raiden, Sosuke is the brother he never had. Also, Sosuke was basically adopted into Raiden’s family. Souma and Erina look out for him like he’s one of their own.

erik x sumire - 5 for pre-relationship, 3 for general, 6 for love, and 2 for domestic. I can't wait for the headcanons! Thx
5. (pre-relationship) Did either of them try to resist their feelings?
In a way, they both did. Sumire resisted because she felt like Erik was Akane’s and she isn’t the type of person who would put her most meaningful friendship in jeopardy over a boy. She actually swore she wouldn’t entertain any romantic feelings for him on the very day they met (and failed at it since day one).
On Erik’s part, he had been in friends with benefits situations with quite a few of his females friends, but with Sumire he made the decision early that he would show restraint and not fool around with her casually. This is mostly because Sumire always struck him as sort of traditional and idealistic when it comes to romance. It did not feel right to be casual with her.
3. (general) What was their first kiss like?
It was very sweet and relatively chaste. Sumire actually initiated it. It would have been right after she returned to Totsuki after her undercover side quest with the noirs. In her absence, she realized that she really loved him, and after getting Akane’s blessing, our girl just went for it.
6. (love) Who’s more protective?
I’d like to say both of them equally, but if I’m being honest, Sumire uses her Mimasaka powers to find all the dirt on anyone who might pose a threat to her guy (or to the Nakiris in general).
2. (domestic) What’s the wedding like? Who attends?
The wedding is big, but not particularly showy. The venue and decorations are very elegant and classic, but with some futuristic accents here and there.  All of their classmates from Totsuki (and all of their parents’ friends from Totsuki) would attend, as well as Sumire’s colleagues at the WGO and Erik’s contacts in the tech sector. It’s widely considered the wedding of year in culinary elite circles.

Starry Night (Portraits of 119)
Summary: Just a snippet of what Akane and Erik got up to after the events of Snow Day.
Erik had texted Akane to meet him on the balcony of the master suite. When she arrived, bundled up against the cold weather, she gave him a questioning look. “If you’re here to throw more snow at me, I swear—”
“Relax, princess,” he said. “You’re the one with the dirty tactics.”
It was then that she noticed the bottle of champagne and box of chocolate truffles with the Totsuki emblem printed on the front. “Are those the passion fruit ones?”
“I remembered you liked them.”
Akane bit her the inside of her cheek to hide her smile. He always managed to find her favorites. “Could we have not done this somewhere warmer?” she asked, even while taking a champagne flute from him.
“Trust me, you’ll want to see it from here,” he told her, but still moved to wrap his scarf around her. It smelled of him, of warmth, of earth and ocean. She sighed despite herself.
Before she could stop smelling the scarf and find the presence of mind to ask what on earth he was talking about, the sky lit up as The Birth of Venus. Akane was rendered speechless for several minutes, sipping her champagne and watching the fireworks fizzle out and reemerge as Almond Blossoms, as Starry Night, as The Kiss.
“You really did all this for me?” she asked as the fireworks continued to burst and reemerge as her favorite paintings.
“Nope, totally random,” he replied, deadpan, and Akane rolled her eyes at the sarcasm.
“Seriously, though, I could kiss you,” she said, transfixed as the sky erupted into the bright golds of another Klimt.
“Well, no one’s stopping you, princess.” He said this, of course, with a joking smile and the knowledge that she was too straight-laced to do anything of the sort.
Due to the paired effects of the champagne and her desire to prove herself impervious to his teasing, Akane took to her tiptoes and kissed him. It was just for shock value, she told herself, only to gain the upper hand in their banter at long last.
And then he kissed her back.
It was a deeper kiss than she had bargained for, one that made her toes curl and heated every inch of her. She should have known better than trying to surprise him on this front. After all, she knew well Nakiri Erik had kissed many girls before; too damn many, in her opinion.
As their lips parted, Akane’s eyes lowered shyly. “Did we just...”
Before she could finish the thought, her lips were on Erik’s again as though drawn to them by magnets, tectonic plates, or the laws of gravity themselves. She found herself in his arms, pressed flush against his chest, but yearning to be closer still.
She smiled demurely when they returned to their senses somewhat, though still not enough to put any real distance between them. “Whatever will you tell your girlfriends?” she asked, breathless.
He looked at her then, ruby eyes alight with interest, mystery, and...hope? Never in life had she felt so satisfied by an expression.
“That they lost to a spoiled brat with a mutant sense of smell,” he said, then kissed her again.

The Family Business (Portraits of 119)
Summary: Isshiki Kesuke tries to launch an investigation into the Nakiri family business, and Raiden has a choice to make.
Raiden rubbed a hand down the length of his face as he read the memo on his desk. Isshiki Kesuke had been first seat of the Elite Ten Council for less than five days, and already he had started making moves to reform the academy.
In three days’ time, there was to be a vote on whether the council should launch a full investigation into the business dealings of the Totsuki Network, but only “in the spirit of trust and transparency.” The memo was riddled with thinly veiled accusations of monopoly and extortion, even ties to organized crime.
The idea of it was laughable, really. Raiden was sure any investigation would only serve to expose Isshiki as the self-righteous asshole he’d always known him to be. But a nagging feeling compelled him to make sure.
He hesitated outside his cousin’s Elite Ten office for a moment before knocking. He and Erik were far from as close as they used to be, but it was only a simple question.
“Come in,” Akane said, and Raiden supposed he shouldn’t be surprised to find her there.
Akane was sitting atop Erik’s desk, legs crossed as she looked through a binder of some sort, while his cousin went through stacks of manila folders. Both of them were sipping that expensive Panamanian coffee she liked. Though clearly busy with something, they looked comfortable.
“You need something?” Erik asked.
“Yeah.” Raiden gestured to the memo he’d brought with him. “You know if there’s anything to all this?”
Erik and Akane exchanged a look then, a wordless question and response in the shorthand that formed between them in the years Raiden had been gone. He’d seen his parents do the same thing a thousand times.
Whatever argument took place in the brief facial expressions, Akane won it.
Erik sighed before turning back to him. “Close the door.”
He did, and the mahogany wood seemed to thump against its frame with finality. “So how much of this is real?”
“You don’t want to know,” Erik told him. “And the less details we have floating around, the better.”
Now it was Raiden’s turn to sigh. Of course he’d be the last one in the family to find out about this shit. How did anyone expect him to lead the Totsuki Network someday if no one ever told him anything? “And when did you find out?”
And as though to highlight how ridiculous the situation was, Erik actually had to think about it. “When we were six, maybe. The old man brought me to a meeting with him, then explained afterwards.”
Well, that was another item on the list of things he’d have to ask Great Grandpa Senzaemon’s ghost if he ever got his hands on a fucking ouija board. “So what now?”
“Now we make sure Isshiki-senpai loses the vote.” Akane said this as casually as she might be talking about brunch plans or museum walking tours.
“Then we find out who his source is and root them out,” Erik explained. “If he knows as much as he says he does, someone close to the family broke ranks.”
“Sumire’s already doing contact tracing back at the mansion, so it shouldn’t take long,” Akane added. Then she smiled. “Want some coffee?”
Raiden blinked once. Twice. When had they both become like this? Had this streak of ruthlessness always been in them, dormant, or was it a new thing?
“Yeah, sure,” he said, pouring himself out a cup. It seemed like he was going to need it. “How do you expect to win this vote? All the upperclassmen are in favor of it, plus Maria. Sosuke’s on the fence. Without a clear majority in either direction, this shit can drag out all year.”
Akane and Erik exchanged another one of those loud looks and this time his cousin seemed to come out on top.
“The upperclassmen won’t be much of a problem,” Akane told him, as she flipped through her binder again. “Eizan and Ebisawa-san can be bought.”
“Ibusaki too, come to that,” Erik added.
“It won’t. He’ll vote however Bells tells him to.”
“Good shit, Mito,”
Raiden stared at them for a moment, incredulous. “We can’t just bribe the council. That only proves Isshiki right.”
“Raiden, there’s no right in this,” Akane said, sounding far more patient than her facial expression would suggest. “It’s all self-interest. If the Nakiri family falls to scandal, who benefits? None more than the Kinokunis of the east and the Isshikis of the west, and Kesuke is heir to both of them. The only person naive enough to believe this is about doing the right thing is Maria Aldini.”
At this, Erik gave her an incredulous look. “Aldini votes with us if he tells her to.”
“That’s not true,” Raiden cut in. In fact, Maria would probably get mad at him for even being party to this conversation. “And besides, I’m not telling anyone how to vote. Shit like this is part of the problem.”
“If you’re not going to help, then leave,” Erik said.
“What he means is—” Akane started, trying to spare his feelings like she always did.
“I mean we don’t have time for this. If you won’t get your hands dirty, it’s fine. Just go on another vacation or something.”
If he were being honest with himself, that sounded like the most pleasant option. But he knew that it couldn’t go on like this forever; at some point he, like everyone else with a drop of Nakiri blood, would have to sacrifice for the family business.
He had expected it to be time he’d have to give up eventually, and maybe a measure of personal freedom. But this? He sighed.
“Fine,” he said after a considerable pause. “I’m in.”

24 sosuke bella erik nana
24. What would they order from a fast food/take-out place?
Sosuke - Puerto Rican food! Back when they were first years, Raiden exposed Sosuke to a number of dishes he hadn’t tried before. Among them were pernil, maduros, and mofongo. Naturally, he fell in love. When he moves to New York after graduation, he finds a local restaurant and frequents it.
Bella - Cajun food, or southern barbecue. The time Bella spent living in Texas with her parents, and visiting cities with rich culinary traditions like Nashville and New Orleans, definitely shaped her palate. If she can find a place with decent jambalaya, she’s definitely ordering it.
Erik - Turkish street food! When he was very young, his godfather (Akira) put Erik on to the deliciousness that is doner kebab and dürüm, and he has never gone back. Whenever he can’t successfully annoy Akane into making it for him, he’ll end up ordering takeout (and inevitably sharing with Akane, who will criticize the food and say she could have made it better).
Nana - Vietnamese food! Nana’s moms encouraged her to try all types of foods, and Vietnamese food ended up being a cuisine she really enjoyed. Vermicelli are her favorite noodles, and she could eat them everyday. She also loves banh mi, and will order them every time she sees them.

7, 8, 11, 18, 27, 28 for sumire x Erik?
7. What do they get up to on a night out?
Erik and Sumire usually go out to eat. They usually try one spot for drinks and appetizers, another for dinner, and a third for dessert and coffee. In between res, they’ll be walking around the city, stopping at this comedy show and that live music event. Unlike some members of the culinary elite, these two never became jaded with food. They love trying out new restaurants and have been on a quest to find the best fried chicken in Tokyo for years.
8. What do they like in bed?
Sumire likes massages before bed. She rarely asks for them, but he just knows. (I’m not quite ready to NSFW my fan-children yet)
11. What do they hide from one another?
Erik makes a very credible attempt of keeping Sumire out of the dark side of the Nakiri family business, but the girl has a talent for snooping and it never quite works for him. Sumire, in kind, tries her best not to involve him in her investigation of the noirs (and her eventual undercover work) and Erik is having absolutely none of it. When it comes down to it keeping secrets from each other, these two are pretty hopeless.
18. When they fight, how do they make up?
They’re both pretty low-key and don’t argue often, but when they do, Erik will buy her a beautiful piece of jewelry to go with the his apology. He always apologizes first because that’s what his father and grandfather advised him to do.
27. Why do their friends get annoyed with them?
They constantly flake on plans with other people because they’d rather just chill with each other. After a certain point, people learn to just invite both of them so they actually show up.
28. Why do they get jealous?
Let the record show that Nakiri Erik was never the jealous type, but when guys try to make a move on Sumire he always got a little annoyed, even before they were together. Sumire also doesn’t get jealous easily, but she cannot stand the way women (especially older women who are business partners with the Totsuki Network) shamelessly flirt with him. She doesn’t say anything about it, but will be kind of pouty for a few hours afterwards.

Sumire and Erik for the Angst HC Meme? ;w;
who is more likely to get injured doing small tasks
They are both pretty coordinated, but probably Sumire. She is a multitasking queen and might end up tripping or dropping something if she’s doing too much at once. She doesn’t swear much, but once in a while you’ll hear a crash followed by a frustrated “for fuck’s sake!” and immediately know what happened. Erik will make fun of her a little, but he always helps her clean up.
who worries more about the other
Erik! Even though she’s usually very elegant and reserved, Sumire can be a bit reckless/obsessive when a goal of hers is within reach. During their third year, when she goes undercover into a notorious group of noir chefs, he nearly lost his mind worrying about her—especially when she had to cut off contact with Totsuki to avoid getting caught. Also, Erik  generally thinks she’s way too hard on herself and wishes she would be more selfish every now and then
who is more afraid about the other leaving them
Probably Sumire. She sees herself as kind of unimpressive compared to a lot of the other girls he’s been involved with.
who is more likely to leave (for any reason)
Sumire could if her impostor syndrome gets the better of her.
who is more likely to drunkenly confess
So....drunk!Erik is even more of a casanova than regular Erik and would definitely tell Sumire that she should just be his girl already. Sumire would die...but also keep a recording of it for blackmail. Also...she would just be his girl already.
who is more likely to push the other away (for any reason)
Sumire sometimes does this when she’s really in her feelings, usually when she’s missing her mom or feeling inadequate about her skills as a chef. However, Erik tolerates exactly none of that. He knows how to get past her walls and make her feel like a queen.
who picks fights more often
They honestly don’t fight much, but if they do, either one of them might start it. For example, if Sumire doesn’t want him to go running during a storm (we already know that Nakiris lack a certain level of common sense) she might start with him, or if he wants to give her a gift and she tries to refuse because it’s too expensive he would argue with her.
who usually apologizes first
Erik always apologizes first, even if he’s not wrong. His father and grandfather gave him the advice to never let his woman go to bed angry at him, and he follows it because they both have really strong marriages.
who is more likely to withhold their feelings for the other
They both try every now and then, but the two of them are very perceptive and each has the other down to a science.
who is more likely to lash out at the other
Neither really. They’re both pretty mild-mannered in that regard, but once in a while, Sumire says something quite passive-aggressive and that’s as far as it goes.
who gets more jealous
Erik! And it catches him by surprise because it’s really not in his personality to be that way. He spends months trying to help Saito Kaito get in Sumire’s good graces, but the second they start going on dates he’s super annoyed by it.
who is more likely to support the other in a relationship with someone else “as long as they’re happy”:
Sumire pined for him for the longest but didn’t make a move because she knew he had feelings for Akane. She even tried to help them get together because she cared for them both and thought they were a good match for each other.

Truth Serum (Portraits of 119)
Summary: In which alcohol is a truth serum, and Akane finds herself in Erik’s room after the Autumn Elections preliminary.
It was well past four in the morning when Akane retired for the night, leaving Sumire to shoo the lingering party-goers out of the mansion and into the cool autumn air. Bells had long since slunk up to her room, with Ibusaki-kun in tow, to celebrate their success in the prelims in a more private manner.
She had been up for nearly twenty-four hours, rising before dawn to meet the judges in their hotel lobbies and airport terminals, ensuring that all sixty cooking stations were stocked with the baseline trappings of a Totsuki kitchen, maintaining an outer facade of neutrality during the judging — even as those closest to her earned the highest scores — and then facilitating a Dionysian affair to celebrate the winners.
Just the thought of her to-do list’s length this time yesterday was enough the make Akane want to lie in bed for a week, but exhausted as she was, sleep eluded her.
After about fifteen minutes of staring up at the ceiling, she sighed, shoved her duvet aside, and started shuffling her way to the mansion’s east wing. She had made it to Erik’s door before she could think better of it. Tonight, of all nights, she should have expected to find some half-naked girl splayed out next to him, but thankfully there was none.
Instead, a drowsy arm lifted the covers to grant her entry, and she silently curled up beside him, grinning despite herself. Akane hummed appreciatively as the arm curved around her waist. The feel of his warm, muscular frame pressed behind her had always done the trick of lulling her into deep sleep. She was quite nearly there, drifting off to the rhythm of his steady heartbeat, when she felt lips fall upon the curve between her neck and shoulder.
The sensation sent a jolt through her, like she’d been shocked after pulling clothes from the dryer, and her toes curled up a bit.
“You know it’s just me, right?” she said dryly, craning her neck up to give him her best side-eye. “Not Tora, not Nana, or whoever the fuck else.”
Erik smirked down at her, ruby eyes warm, but bleary. He was clearly still very drunk, and no wonder; nearly everyone had wanted to take a shot of tequila or vodka with the man of the hour. “Even better,” he said close to her ear.
His mouth descended on her neck again, and Akane released a low, mewling sound that truly shocked her. Unconsciously, her hips moved against him. But then reason won out and she rolled her eyes, trying not to take any of it seriously. “You’re going to be so hungover tomorrow.”
“Do you want me to stop?”
The answer should have been more nuanced than the wholehearted nope that shot to the forefront of her mind, but he was hot and bare-chested and the thought of the dish he presented in the tournament still had her seeing stars.
“I don’t,” she said, too tired for anything but honesty. “But I don’t take advantage of drunk boys.”
“In the morning, then?” His hand had settled again on the curve of her thigh and made no further advances.
Akane snorted a bit at this, but still snuggled against him. “In the morning you’ll have either regained your sense or lost your nerve.”
And for her pride’s sake, she had no desire to find out which it was.

The Garden of Love (Portraits of 119)
Summary: In which Sumire chokes on her feelings—literally (self-indulgent hanahaki AU for my Sumire x Erik enthusiasts)
Sumire crossed one leg over the other as she tapped away on her iPad, organizing Akane’s calendar for the month. As the highest-ranking second year on the Elite Ten Council, her best friend had become the de facto head of half a dozen committees—all those the upperclassmen deemed too much work to bother with.
She turned towards her friend once she noticed a schedule conflict. “Akane, which—” She cleared her throat, fighting a tickle that had been growing there since the beginning of the week. “Which meeting did you want to reschedule, the budgetary committee or alumni relations?”
The question seemed to snap the pink haired girl back to reality. She had been staring out the window of the town car with that vacant expression she tended to wear when she was thinking about Yukihira-kun.
“I’ll reschedule alumni relations,” she said. “I thought Ebisawa-senpai would become less belligerent now that Erik is on the council, but I was wrong.”
Sumire glanced back down at the iPad to hide her smirk. Of course Ebisawa Tora would be annoyed watching Akane banter with Nakiri-kun all through their meetings.
Just then, she had to clear her throat again. The irritation took a moment to settle, and she felt her chest beginning to grow tight.
“Are you okay?” Akane asked. “You sound like you’re coming down with something.”
“I’m fine,” she assured, once she felt certain she could speak without breaking into those harsh coughs that had kept her up half the previous night. “Just the cold air, I think.”
The skeptical emerald gaze she found herself pinned under confirmed her suspicion that it was pointless to come at the daughter of the world’s leading medicinal cuisine specialist with that weak ass excuse. But Sumire could tell by the gentle un-furrowing of the fifth seat’s brow that she’d be left off the hook this time.
“I’ll make you some tea when we get home,” Akane said, but she made no further mention of her condition for the remainder of the trip.
Despite her best efforts to get a full night of sleep and combat whatever killer cold she was coming down with, Sumire woke up at four thirty in the morning feeling like her lungs were filled with cement. After botching an annoyed huff, she rolled onto her side and coughed for five minutes straight.
Realizing that there was no sleep left to be had, she showered, dressed for the day, and got started on a slew of administrative tasks that — in the most technical sense — had very little to do with her.
She was downstairs in the main kitchen, working from a spreadsheet and nursing her third cup of ginger tea, when Nakiri Erik came in, about to go on his morning run.
“Good morning, Nakiri-kun.”
“Sup, Sumire?” he greeted, nodding at her before going to fill up his water bottle. “You’re never up this early.”
“I couldn’t really sleep,” she said.
“Is that cough still bothering you?”
“How did you know about—” Suddenly that omnipresent tickle in her throat became overwhelming, and she turned away from him, coughing into a handkerchief.
By the time Sumire could breathe again, he was handing her a glass of water.
“It’s kind of hard to miss,” he said. “You need anything?”
“I’m alright,” she said, a hand unconsciously drifting up to fix her hair.
After he left, when she was once again alone with her traitorous thoughts, the first snowdrop petals fell from her lips.

When was the main moment or the main reason the friendship Raiden and Erick broke up?
Despite the fact that they were constantly competing with one another, the Nakiri cousins were quite close as children. Raiden low-key looked up to Erik because he was so smart and athletic, and Erik felt it was his responsibility to keep his adventurous younger cousin from getting himself killed.
However, in the year following Senzaemon’s death (when they were about 11 years old), their relationship rapidly deteriorated. There are a couple of different factors that contributed to this, and a major one was grief. As is detailed here, Senzaemon was very strategic and idiosyncratic in how he dealt with his progeny. Because they were so close, his death hit Erik extremely hard, and when people immediately started talking about Raiden as his heir, it hit a nerve.
Unconsciously, Erik started to get annoyed with Raiden more easily and later started distancing himself from him. At first Raiden was like “Why is he mad at me? did I do something wrong?” but after a while he got frustrated with the situation and decided not to bother with him anymore.
At the time Raiden had his own stuff to worry about (like how to go from carefree princeling to worthy heir when his great-grandfather told him where to vacation and how to find great ingredients, but never taught him anything related to the family business) so his patience wore out a lot faster than is usual for him. To this day, he still believes that they fell out because Erik caught feelings for Akane (which did also play a role, albeit much smaller).

sorry if this has already been asked, but how do you come up with all your ocs' names? and what do they mean? from my (very limited) knowledge of japanese, I know raiden means lightning, and akane is something like red (?), and i was wondering if there are deeper meanings in all their names ^^
Raiden roughly means thunder and lightening, and is connected to Raijin, the Shinto god of thunder, lightening, and storms. I picked this name for Souma and Erina’s son because it seemed to fit with the mythology surrounding the Yukihira-Nakiris at Totsuki (ie. Jouichirou as Asura, Erina as the god tongue). I also though both the power and the chaos associated with electric storms would be a good symbol for Raiden’s character arc.
Akane means brilliant red. Her name has to do with the fact that she was born during a beautiful sunrise in the middle of summer. Akira originally wanted to name her Aurora, which means dawn, but Hisako vetoed it (partly because she hated the Disney movie and partly because she didn’t want her children to have western names). They finally agreed on Akane, and Akira named his next restaurant Aurora.
Erik means eternal ruler, and it was the name of many Scandinavian kings. It was the only name Alice and Ryo really considered for their firstborn son, who was in many ways born to lead, and he has definitely grown into it.
Maria is a name that has a few meanings, but the one I generally work from is wished-for child. I think it fits because Takumi and Megumi are both very family-oriented and they’ve always known that they wanted to have children. It also made Takumi’s very Catholic grandparents happy to know that her name refers to the blessed mother.
I chose most of the other ocs’ names somewhat arbitrarily (based on how it might sound with the surnames), but let me know if there’s any character whose name you’re specifically interested in!
