So glad to have gotten permission to share this photo and a small story that involves great men.

I was taking a walk after lunch and like a ritual, started reading the names of houses on a road I hadn't walked on before. There was one 'Gubbi GooDu' (A Sparrow's Nest), there was a 'ShivayOga', there was a 'Raadhaa Nilaya' and so on. And then, I found this house: Shanthi Nikethan. And a woman's name below it read Bhagya Tagore.

Intrigued, I looked around to see if there was someone to tell me if it had anything to do with Tagore after all but there wasn't anyone. Then came a car that stopped at the gate and this man got off and smiled at me. He asked me my name, I asked him my question instead of asking his in return. And so, he started narrating the story happily: "My father Veerappa Gowda was a freedom fighter. Circumstances took him all the way to West Bengal where he happened to hide from the British in Rabindranath Tagore's Shaantiniketan. He was so grateful that he decided to name his son Rabindranath Tagore if he were to  survive the freedom struggle and marry. Well, here I am, Sourabha, my name is Ravindranath Tagore, since you didn't ask!" Oops.

DEVELOPMENT OF LAKES The world is facing drought year-on-year, in India it is a scenario of every year because of urbanization and lack of plan.  Lakes are part of our society, humans as well as animals are dependent on lakes. Lakes are must to retain the ground water, must for bore-wells to operate and must to maintain our eco system. Shri G S Patil a visionary, he has taken the noble step to develop the lakes of the rural area. He has built and developed more than 1000 lakes in the constituency and people call him “Saavira Keregala Saradaara”.  This is not only a development in the constituency; it is a global and universal initiative every one needs follow.  Country like India dependent on agriculture and lakes, ponds, greenery are part of our eco system. His vision and concern towards our rural area and farmers is well appreciated and that is why he is closer to the people.

TRUSTEE SHIVAYOGAMANDIRA SAMSTHE: Shivayoga mandira is a 100 years old religious centre , spiritual university established by His Holiness Pujya Shri Hanagal Kumar Swamiji.  The institute is a holy place for all Veerashaiva-Lingayata people. The institute nurtures the future spiritual leaders under the Veerashaiva-Lingayata philosophy. Here the children are admitted at a very young age and are called Vatu.The vatus practice Sanyasa, Yoga, Veda, Aagama and Upanishads. Shri G S Patil is the serving trustee of the noble institute. Recently the institute celebrated Centenary and Shri G S Patil was at the forefront in leading the massive event, he was able to successfully convince and  invite Hon’ble Member of Parliament and the chairman of UPA Smt. Sonia Gandhiji to receive guest of honor.

The college is serving to the society by teaching music to the blind and orphan children. Annually more than 300 students are blessed by the quality education with food and shelter. Gradually the institution under the able guidance of Shri G S Patil flourished and started many other institution  like; Primary School, High School, Sanskrit Pathashala, B.Ed, D.Ed, P.U and degree college.

Shiva Yoga’ya İthafen..

İçim biraz sakin, yoganın bana getirdiği ağırlık ve olgunlukla kapısını çalmıştım günlerden bir gündü, çok da önemli değil! Yoga dersleri verme arayışımın henüz daha başında belki 5 belki 6. kapıydı çaldığım. Tatlı bir kadın çıktı karşıma, beni içeri davet etti, tanıştık, kendisinin hep orada olmadığını tesadüfen o gün stüdyoda kişisel danışmanlık seansı olduğu için bulunduğunu, seansının da birazdan başlayacağını belirttiği için fazlaca kalmadan, önce biraz etrafa bakındım.

İçim gibi sakin, yumuşacık küçük bir stüdyoydu, her dakika bir koşturmaca olanlardan olmadığı belli oluyordu. Bir telaşesizlik mevcuttu, sıcak değil; yumuşacık ve ılık bir havaydı soluduğum, hissettiğim. Loş ışıklı, mor, kırmızı ve ahşap renklerinin baskın olduğu ufakça bir daire. İrili ufaklı buddha heykelleri, dans eden shivalar, yoga için "olsa iyi olur" minderleri, blokları, mini mini yastıkları, mor matları, şamdanları, mumları, dairenin her yerine işlemiş sandal tütsü kokusu.. Mutfakta; çalışma masası, bir çalışma sandalyesi, iki ahşap sandalye, bir tekli koltuk ve yoga çanağının aksesuar olarak durduğu raflarında dolu dolu yoga, anatomi, felsefe, tasavvuf kitaplarıyla büyükçe bir kitaplık.. Yoga kokan, kitap kokan bir alan; okumak için "otur oku!" diye bangır bangır bağıran bir mutfak olur mu, oluyor işte..

Yoga dersleri vermek istediğimi söyledim, adımı soyadımı telefon numaramı bıraktım, bir de ortak bir tanıdığımız varmış oranın kurucusuyla onu da söyledim, olur ya sormak sorgulamak isterlerse o tanıdıktan benim ne kadar düzgün! biri olduğumu öğrenebilsinlerdi! Beş dakika sonra sokaktaydım. 

Aradan bir kaç gün geçti. Telefonum çaldı, tanımadığım numara, tabii ki sert bir şekilde "Efendim?!" diye açtım "Seni tanımıyorum, kimsin?" edasıyla. Yumuşacık bir ses, kendini tanıtıyor, geçen gün orada olmadığını ama bir zaman belirlersek gelip gelemeyeceğimi soruyor.

Gittim, bu sefer tanıdık bir yere gider gibi, yine içimdeki o sakinlikle. O, öyle bir sakinlik ki bazı zamanlar zoraki benimle kalıyor gibi geliyor, çok daha coşkuluyken içim, o sakinlik beni dengeye getiriyor ya da denge için zorluyor gibi sanki. Velhasıl haftada iki gün ders vermeye başlıyorum burada, eşi derslere geliyor, geri bildirimler alıyorum. Benden daha uzun zamandır yoga yapan birine ders vermek! Nasıl değerli bir şey bir "hoca" için. Derse gelenlerin sayısı bir ila dört arasında değişiyor, bazen hiç gelen olmadığı gibi gelemeyeği zaman nerde olduğunu, neden gelemediğini söyleyen öğrencim de oluyor.

Ben de O'nun derslerine giriyorum cumartesi günleri 10:30'da. Yaptığım yoganın O'nunkinden ne kadar farklı olduğunu anlıyorum, şaşırıyorum. Bu şaşırmalar hiç bitmeyecek heralde :) Ara sıra kısa zamanlara sıkıştırdığımız sohbetlerimiz oluyor, minicik bir bebeği var, bütün zamanını O'na ayırıyor. Konu; çocuklara anlatılan pamuk prenses, kırmızı başlıklı kız masallarının aslında çocuğun bilinçaltını köt�� etkilediğine ve hatta korkunç olduğuna geliyor, ne kadar bilinçli bir anne olduğunu görüyorum, "O'nun yaşına geldiğimde çocuğumuz olduğunda O'nun gibi olabilmek gerekir" diye aklımda geçiriyorum. 

Bugün yine bir cumartesiydi, 10:30' daki dersi için evden 09:30'da çıktık, eşim bıraktı beni stüdyoya. Benden 15 dk sonra geldi Senem ve derse öğrenci gelmedi, biz de sohbete daldık. Eğitimlerden, kitaplardan, yogadan, yoga derslerinden, ev hayatından, çocuk yetiştirmekten, ebeveynlerden, herkesin bir yolu ve de bir sınavı olduğundan..

Biz eşimle hep sakindik, kendi içimizde yaşardık ne varsa, ne oluyorsa iyi veya kötü, zor veya kolay, komik veya acı, her ne geliyorsa kendi kabuğumuzdan dışarı çıkarmazdık. Senem ile konuştukça; çevre, mahalle, okul, akrabalar, aile, arkadaşlar (iyi-kötü) gibi bir sürü dış etken varken bir birey olabilmenin, kendini, özünü, içindeki çocuğu kaybetmeden saf kalabilmenin ve sonra üstüne bir aile olabilmenin, bir de çocuk dünyaya getirip O'nu gerçekten yetiştirebilmenin ne kadar zor ve önemli olduğunu düşünen -şükürler olsun ki- bir biz değilmişiz, onu anladım.
