happy birthday shinwon
warning: food mentions
a month or so leading up to shinwon’s birthday, you’d learn how to play his favorite song on guitar and would surprise him by playing it for him on the morning of his birthday. you’d be a little nervous about it because you’d want it to be somewhat perfect but your nerves would be put at ease
the smile that would appear on shinwon’s face after you play the song would be one of the most adorable things you’d ever seen. he’d compliment you on how well you played the song and would pull you into a hug for a while but you would not mind
after that, you’d probably go on with your morning routines and you’d make his breakfast together and you’d probably sing and dance around your small apartment kitchen which would probably end up a mess but that would be an after breakfast problem lol
so later in the day you’d both go hang with the rest of the pentagon members at a cafe or something, as you would normally, but you and the members did plan a surprise party for shinwon
while the rest of ptg would be getting things together and make sure everything would be fine, you’d distract shinwon by going shopping together and it would be a pretty good one because there would be so many things that you’d get him to try on because a.) it’d look amazing on him and b.) it would give the others more time to set things up
the two of you would have so much fun planning outfits together that you’d almost fail to notice how much time would have passed but you’d luckily get back to your place just in time
shinwon would open your apartment door to find it way darker than it was earlier and before he would be able to say something, you’d both notice that the kitchen light was on and jinho and hui would come out holding a birthday cake
shinwon would playfully roll his eyes and blow out the candles on the cake before you’d all yell ‘happy birthday’ and kino would quickly start playing music from the playlist he created for the occasion
afterwards, all of you would pile into your living room to play video games and dance. there would be so many funny moments throughout the night that you’d be so sure your stomach would ache from all of the laughing
before everyone would leave, they’d make sure to help you clean up and sing happy birthday one more time as well as give shinwon a lot of of hugs. shinwon would kind of act like it wasn’t a big deal but the smile on his face would say it all
even though the two of you would be pretty tired, you’d still cuddle up on the couch and watch shinwon’s favorite movie and he’d rest his lap in your lap so you would be able to massage his scalp. midway through the movie you’d bend down to kiss him on the forehead and he’d blush a little before thanking you making his birthday special
sometimes, birthdays can be a little eh but shinwon would know that his birthdays would always be amazing as long as he had you and ptg in his life. and even though it wouldn’t be super fancy, he’d appreciate the time and effort that everyone would put into making sure his day was good all the same

Summary: It’ll be your first Christmas in a new town. You’ve had no real success in making friends with anyone so far, even with the effort you’ve been putting into it. But it wasn’t until snowballs started raining down upon you that you garner some.

Bonus Christmas Eve fic
[A/n: Ever since you told me that Christmas is celebrated on the Holy Evening, the 24th in your country. I just had to finish and publish this for you today, @jinkoh - I hope you enjoy it, even if you’ve already seen the draft. Have a wonderful evening! 🥺💖 Alternatively titled: New Friends]
------
You were new to town and getting used to everything, trying to join in on events and make new friends. But today, your goal was to explore more of this place. You’re walking through the town square. When you hear someone scream, “Snowball fight!” You gasped and tried to duck and cover, but the rain of snowballs was already upon you. You quickly build a little snow shield and make some snowballs. You throw some at the other people. When someone slides beside you and under your snow shield. He asks, “Teammates?” As his shoulder is hit by a snowball, “Yeah!” You quickly agree and build the snow shield out a little wider.
He has a great swing, so you begin making the snowballs solely so he can throw them at them. He is quick, grabbing one and throwing it before ducking back down to prevent getting hit. You're both making an impact on your opponents. You can hear their yells every time your teammate hits them. He looks at you and goes, “I'm going to make a break for it and cover them in snowballs.” You both look at each other in determination. And you tell him, “Go for it!” As he goes for it, you shout, “I’ll cover you!” He takes the snowballs in his arms and rushes at them. You do your best to make and throw snowballs at the blurry enemies.
He returns to the snow fort, drenched in snowflakes, and you laugh, which makes him laugh too. He slides beside you again to be covered by the shield. You make a few snowballs before joining in and throwing them at your more visible enemies. He makes snowball pyramids supplying you with all the snow he can get his hands on as you pelt them. As you both get into the groove of it again, someone on the other side calls, "Truce!" You both smirk at each other before agreeing to a truce, knowing you've won. He stands up, and you follow, and he says, “We make a great team!” You laugh, and he puts his mitt-covered hand out, “I’m Shinwon.” You smile and put your gloved hand in his, “I’m (Y/n).” You both shake, “You want to meet the menaces who started the snowball fight?” You agree, and on your way to the 'menaces', you tell him that you’re new to town and that this is the most fun you’ve had since moving in. He couldn’t help but grin, “I hope to continue to make living here fun for you.” You blush, surely from the cold wind.
He introduces you to his friends who started the snowball fight. “Everyone, this is (Y/n). They’re new to town. Let’s show them around!” Hyunggu goes, “Oh, we should take them to our pizza joint.” Everyone agrees and looks at you, hoping you’ll approve, and you do. They lead the way, and Shinwon stays back with you. When they talk amongst themselves, they actively include you in their conversations. They turn the corner, and Shinwon tells you, “It’s just like a few more buildings down from the corner, but this place has the best pizza.” You smile, “Really?” He nods, “Yeah, we started going here in high school when they first opened. And we haven’t gone back to any chain pizza places since.” You nod, and Jinho pitches into the conversation, “Yeah, they make everything fresh and get all the ingredients at the market.”
Hyunggu cheers, “We’re here!” And the door chimes as Hoetaek opens it, “After you kids.” You whisper, “Is everyone younger than him?” Jinho shakes his head, “All but me.” You laugh and walk in; the scent of tomato sauce, grease, and fresh herbs hitting you all at once. You realize why they love it with the checkered floors and general ambiance. It was perfect. You can’t see through the nine men ahead of you but assume they’re leading you to their table. Shinwon pats the chair next to him and squints at Hyunggu, who nearly sits down in it. He puts his hands up and lets you slide into the seat. You laugh, and Hyunggu sits beside you instead. You take a minute to put the rest of the names to their faces before looking over the menu.
After another minute, the waiter comes over. And goes, “Why do you guys always come on my shift?” Hoetaek smirks, “Because we love you.” You read his name tag, “Hyojong.” And Shinwon tells you softly, “When he’s not working, he’s sitting here with us.” You nod, and the waiter catches you sitting in the middle, “Oh? Who’s this?” You smile, “I’m (Y/n). I got caught in their snowball fight.” Hyojong laughs, “Really?” You nod, and Shinwon points to you two, “We won.” He blinks, “The eight of you lost to two?” Changgu looks down and groans, “Don’t remind us.” Yanan sighs, “They pelted us.” Shinwon and you chuckle, and Hyojong shakes his head before looking back at you, “Alright, I know what these geezers want. What would you like?” You smile and tell him, and he nods, “I’ll be back in twenty?” You all agree, and Hoetaek asks, “When’s your break?” He looks over at the clock, “Whenever I want it… When I come back, I’ll pull up a chair. It’s a slow day.” They all agree, and he leaves, and everyone starts conversing.
Whenever you got shy and didn’t know what to say, Shinwon would ask you small questions like, “What’s your favorite vegetable?” And you laughed as you told him, and he smiled, “I love potatoes.” You grin, and he makes sure that whenever you clam up, he assures you that you are welcome to have input. It made you feel secure in such a big group. And when he isn’t looking, you take in all his features, finding him more attractive by the minute. While the rest of them were handsome and funny as well. No one held a candle to his light.
Twenty minutes later, Hyojong pops back out, and Yuto cheers, “Pizza!” Which makes you all cheer for it. Hyojong pulls up a chair and sits at the end of the table. Shinwon holds out his glass of pop, “To new friends!” You smile, and everyone cheers, “To new friends!” as you clink your glasses together before taking a sip of pop. You dig in, and Hongseok goes, “Parmesan pass down?” Jinho grabs it and hands it over to Shinwon, who hands it to you, and you pass it across to Wooseok, who passes it to Hongseok, who passes it around the table. It makes its way back to you again, and you use it before passing it to Shinwon again.
Even as everyone eats, it’s still loud, everyone chatting away freely, and you can’t help but feel at home. As you eat and talk, you find your place and talk more freely with them. You didn’t see it, but Shinwon smiled proudly as you happily conversed with his friends. When he realized you were standing in the line of snowball fire, he swooped in, so you weren’t facing the snow devils alone. But as you worked together to win against them, he couldn’t help but feel his heartbeat faster. And the fact that you get along with his friends so well, he knew his heart had the right idea.
As you finish eating, you all split the payments, “Don’t you dare tip me, you weirdos.” And you can see their smirks as they place the money on the table and rush out. Hoetaek wiggles his fingers at him, and Wooseok sticks out his tongue, “Oh well! Already did!” He shakes his head at them, and you both tell each other it was nice meeting the other. And you all head outside of the building. While everyone is talking outside the building, Yuto tells you, “They’re the kindest bunch, but they’re the worst. But I’m sure you’ll understand what I mean soon enough.” You grin, “I hope so.”
You all laugh as you see Hyunggu visibly shiver, and Hoetaek scolds, “You should have worn a warmer coat!” As he shakes his head at him, Hyunggu pouts, “I dress for the occasion, not for the weather!” You all laugh, and Yanan asks, “You’ll hang out with us again, right?” You smile, “Yeah.” And everyone lets out a little cheer. And you smile as you let out a small “Yay!” And they grin, and Jinho goes, after a beat of silence, “I’d love to stand outside in the cold with you guys, but I do have to get home.” The others agree with his notion, and they all start parting and telling you that it was nice to meet you.
As Hyunggu speeds home, you ask, “I thought he was wearing a warm coat?” Shinwon says, “No, I think he just met up with the other side when the snowball fight was coming to an end.” You nod, “Oh, that makes sense.” Shinwon waits for the last of them to clear the turn before he asks, “You want to get hot cocoa with me?” You smile, “I’d love to.” He smiles and walks you across the street to the cafe one building up the road. He opens the door for you and follows you up to the counter. He goes, “Two hot cocoas, please.” Before you can pay for yours, he’s already purchased both. “Don’t worry, I work here. I get them for like a dollar each.” You shake your head, still feeling dizzy from the whole ordeal. It all happened so fast. And his glimmering smile was the cherry on top. Something you didn’t know you needed to see before. But now that you've seen it, you can't get enough of it.
You wait for your hot cocoa in another line when he asks, “So, where do you live around here?” You smile and tell him the apartment building, “I do too!” You blink, “Really?” He nods, “Room 1211.” You gasp, “No way! I live on the other side of the hall, in 1210!” He gasps, “It is a small world, after all.” You laugh, “It is.” That’s when both of your hot cocoas are served, “Would you mind if we walk home together?” You shake your head, “No, I’d love to walk home with you.” He smiles, and you both walk to your apartment building, learning more about each other as you do, like how he likes to play the guitar and sometimes the piano. You make mental notes in your head of what he says, and he attentively listens to everything you tell him.
As you take your last sip of hot cocoa outside your apartment building, you dump your paper cups in the trash can. When you make it up to your floor level, you both slowly walk to your apartment, not wanting the day to end. When you reach your door, you have to hold back your pout. You slowly put your hand into your pocket and find your keys. You sigh, “I guess this is where we part?” He hums, “Yeah…” With all the bravery you could muster up, you ask, “Do you want to go out with me sometime again?” He smiles, “I’d love to.” He looks at his phone, “Are you free tomorrow?” He puts it away as you nod. And he says, “Let’s go ice skating.” You smile, think about your schedule, and ask, “Does 5 pm work for you?” He agrees, “I’ll wait for you outside your door.” You smile and unlock your door, “It’s a date.” And he grins, agreeing, “It’s a date.” You enter your apartment and hold back the scream but slide against the door excitedly. You hear his little cheer outside and can't stop smiling. Thinking to yourself, tomorrow and every following day in this new town will be a new adventure and make it worth moving here.

Shinwon and you had been dating for a few weeks now. From an objective point of view it probably didn’t look like anything serious. You’d slipped into this relationship so casually and you hadn’t even gone further than kissing yet, so how serious could it be?
To you though, it felt pretty serious. If you could, you would stay in bed with him cuddling like this all day everyday. There wasn’t really any urge within you to go further, not when this, his face tucked into the crook of your neck felt so much like home.
Shinwon hugged you a little tighter, his fingertips grazing the skin beneath your shirt. You instinctively flinched at the contact and your stomach filled with a sense of dread.
His thumb drew small circles into your skin and you were almost sure he was doing it subconsciously. He didn't make any attempt to move his hand up higher under your shirt nor was there anything else implying that he had the intention to make this sexual. But just because there wasn’t anything right now, didn’t mean it couldn’t lead to something later. Only speaking up then might be a little too late.
You took a deep breath to steady yourself. It shouldn’t be so hard to say something but it was.
You liked this. Maybe not this in particular, but you liked what you had with him and you didn’t want to ruin it. Sooner or later you’d have to, but maybe you could drag it out just a little longer…?
Shinwon left a lazy peck on your neck, his breath tickling your skin.
No. You should get it over with, rip it off like a band-aid.
You cleared your throat and Shinwon promptly looked up at you with big eyes and tousled hair. It was unfair how cute he was.
“You good?”
You swallowed around the lump in your throat before you nodded reluctantly.
“Are you sure?”
“Uhm,” you pressed out and you already felt tears well up in your eyes. Trying to keep them from spilling out, you focused your gaze onto the ceiling.
“I’m okay it’s just—” You took another deep breath. Then, with a shaky voice, you started again. “I don’t think I want to do this.”
When you finally dared to glance at your boyfriend, he was eyeing you with a worried frown on his face. The hand on your waist had disappeared. Instead Shinwon was propping himself up so he could look at you properly.
“What do you mean?”
You wanted to say something but you couldn’t get a single word past your lips; didn’t know how to explain in a way he’d understand. You shrugged.
He tilted his head. “Do you mean us? Do you want to break up?”
You weren’t sure what you’d expected him to think, but this caught you off guard. Hastily, you shook your head.
“No!” and then, hesitantly, you added “but maybe you will want to.”
The frown on his face deepened and it was clear that he had no idea how you could think that.
“Why would I want to break up?” He leaned in a little closer, his lips in a pout. “Who will I watch my drama with if I break up with you?”
You wanted to smile at his words, but the moment you raised the corners of your lips, your chin started to tremble and tears rolled down your cheeks.
“Because I–” Hiding your face behind your elbow you started sobbing, unable to hold it in any longer. Why was it so hard to talk about this? Why was it so scary?
Shinwons voice turned soft as he gently tugged your arm away from your face. “It’s okay, you can tell me.”
“But I don’t want to break up.”
He smiled and wiped away your tears with his thumb. “I also don’t want to break up, pumpkin. You can tell me. I promise it’s not as bad as you think it is.”
“How can you know that?” You choked out between sobs.
“I just do. So tell me.”
“I think I—I don’t want to do …it.”
Shinwon eyed you, still a small encouraging smile on his lips as he took in your words. “It?”
You swallowed around the lump in your throat.
“...sex.” You pressed out, your voice barely a whisper.
He must have heard you anyway, because he slowly nodded. “Oh. Okay.”
“Okay?”
“Okay. It’s fine, we don’t have to.”
“But—no."
His reply made you certain that he had misunderstood. “I’m not—I don’t mean now. Or, well, I also mean now. But I probably won’t want to do it ever.”
“Okay,” he said again.
You searched for something in his eyes, disappointment or annoyance, maybe just incomprehension. But there wasn’t anything.
A frown appeared on your face. “Okay? Is it really?”
He furrowed his eyebrows then and you were sure that it was going to come now, the break-up talk, the whole actually, now that I thought about it, I can’t do this after all.
But instead he asked “Do you not want it to be okay?"
"No, I do, but—how could it be okay?"
"But it is. Or I mean—unless you just don’t want to have sex with me?”
“That’s what I said, didn’t I? I don’t—I don’t want to have sex.”
“Yeah. But in general? Or just not with me? I’m not sure how I feel about sleeping with others, but we could probably figure something out…”
You looked at him in disbelief. That’s not the way you'd pictured this conversation to go. “No, uhm, I don’t want to do it with anyone. Ever. At all. I’m asexual.”
“Okay. That’s cool.” He layed back down, his face nuzzling into the crook of your neck and his arm thrown loosely over your torso.
“Now that that’s settled, let’s take a nap.” After getting comfortable he abruptly raised his head again to look at you. “This is still fine, right?”
You felt yourself choke up. “Yeah, this is more than fine.”
He cuddled up to you again, closing his eyes. “Good.”
“Are you sure this is …enough?”
“It’s more than enough.” he mumbled against your skin.
“What about a year from now, will it still be enough then?”
“It will always be enough, pumpkin.” His voice was already starting to sound sleepy. “You’re enough.”

It was common knowledge that Seungmin was an O student, and you weren’t so far behind. In the beginning of first year up until the end of second year, you were rivals. You were competitive and Seungmin was a pain. He wasn’t competitive as much, but he was better than you, and you couldn’t tolerate it. Fortunately, he asked if he could talk to you on the train to your third year and you’ve been a better person ever since; less competitive, more open and definitely more livable. Bonus, you became friends with him.
Your parents had pressured you into being the best student and it made you do and say things you regret, but Seungmin understood, which you were thankful for. They also wanted you to be a Slytherin, like them, but perhaps the Sorting Hat knew deep down who you really were.
Hogwarts had always been a second home to you. At all times, you felt cozy and relaxed despite the amount of noise and homework. Making peace with yourself made the whole experience ten times better.
The librarian came out of nowhere with an unpleasant look —the usual— and hissed to the whole library before storming out: “Pray that I won’t find out who damaged our copy of Important modern magic discoveries.”
You looked at Seungmin at the other side of the table and laughed quietly while he shook his head. You knew who it was, but you wouldn’t snitch on a fellow Ravenclaw. Especially not when he cost too much house points already.
Seungmin didn’t like studying in the Great Hall because it was too loud compared to the library, where the librarian never accepted any sound (whispers were worse than speaking out loud for her). The common room was okay, sometimes, but it was mostly a place to chill and read.
Moreover, he knew every inch of the library like the back of his hand, so he often helped restock and find books for other students if they looked lost. You found that admirable, knowing the librarian’s temperament. He didn’t seem to mind, though. In fact, she seemed to respect your friend, value even.
“I can’t believe Jisung’s scared of acromantulas,” you blurted out of the blue, the last class of defense against the dark arts still fresh on your mind.
“Me neither. He does have one fear, after all,” he shrugged. As desperate as he was, never would he use this fear to ‘tame’ his friend.
You nodded, refocusing on your task at hand, when a tired-looking Chaewon sat next to you with a light thud. She sighed, pinching her nose bridge in annoyance.
“What’s wrong?” you asked, your voice laced with worry.
“I just tutored Heejin for transfiguration but she’s not making any effort.”
“She asked the professor herself, though?”
“Exactly! Ugh, why did it have to be me?”
“Ask the professor to change tutor,” proposed Seungmin.
“Already did, but she said I was the second best choice, the first being Hyunjin, and he’s already tutoring a Gryffindor.”
“Wait. You don’t have to actually meet up, right?” You were not going to let your friend have a hard time for basically nothing.
“I guess not…”
“Then just don’t. I’m sure she doesn’t even need the help.”
“You’re right, she looked jealous over the person that genuinely needed it,” recalled Seungmin.
“I guess she likes Hyunjin or something,” Chaewon shrugged.
“Poor girl. He’s never going to see her that way,” you shook your head.
“Shhh!” hissed the librarian behind you, making you all flinch. No one saw her coming back and it put an end to your conversation.
A few days later, in history of magic class shared between Ravenclaws and Slytherins, the professor monotonously recited his 14th century’s witch hunt lesson while some classmates were playing exploding snap at the back. Seungmin was, as usual, immersed in the lecture while you were trying your best not to fall asleep. Chaewon was diligently writing down notes two rows back, next to Hyunjin who gave up on staying awake a long time ago. You’ve never spent time with the Slytherin girl, but she was close to Chaewon. You could hear mini explosions and laughter from behind you, and if you weren’t so drowsy right now, you would’ve gone to see how the game was going.
After the class, you went to the courtyard during recess with Seungmin.
“I just don’t get why flying carpets are illegal, you know? They look so much steadier than brooms,” you sighed, sitting on the low wall surrounding the courtyard, your friend following you.
“I’d tell you the reason, but you know it already.”
“Yes, they have been defined as a ‘muggle artifact’ by the registry of proscribed charmable objects, so now they’re banned. But so are brooms! I guess the ministry had to choose, and made a huge mistake.”
“Why don’t you send them an owl to make a change?” Seungmin proposed, amused by your beliefs.
“Are you out of your mind? My dad works at the ministry, I don’t fancy receiving a howler during breakfast for my ‘disrespect of the wizarding law’, thank you very much.”
You visibly shivered at the thought.
“Would be fun to—” Seungmin started, but your attention drifted off to a guy standing on the edge of the fountain.
“Anyone want to do my history homework? I can pay,” proposed a fourth year Gryffindor, Eric if you weren’t mistaken.
Seeing you were about to get up to walk in the direction of the guy, Seungmin stopped you by tugging on your robe. “You’re not seriously considering it?”
“Why not? If he pays well, I can buy some books at Fleury and Bott this weekend,” you shrugged.
“I’ll buy you every book you want but please. Don’t do it, you already have a lot on your plate.”
“Aww. Do I detect worry? You’re so cute. Every book I want, huh? You can’t back down now!”
Seungmin grimaced a bit as he watched you excitedly walking to your next class. He sighed tiredly before joining you, considering Eric’s offer for a brief moment to buy those books. That would’ve been hypocritical of him to do that, so he kept walking.
He never regretted it because he could spend more quality time with you. His wallet though, it was another story.
Out of the books you acquired, there was the ‘Quintessence: A Quest’ charm book destined for the sixth year students.
Back to Ravenclaw’s common room that Sunday, you browsed through it while Seungmin was, no big surprise, working on assignments. Chaewon was with you two for a few hours, then decided to go outside, quoting her: ‘to enjoy the first warm day of the year.’
As you were turning the pages, a spell caught your eye. It was the bubble-head charm.
“I can’t believe that spell is too advanced for me,” you whispered to yourself.
Seungmin took a quick look at your interest and shrugged, saying, “it never stopped me.”
“Me neither. I’m just saying that it’s a cool spell that we should’ve learned already! How cool would it be to swim in the black lake for hours, meet the merpeople and the giant squid?”
“Y/N, let me stop you right there,” he said seriously, bringing a hand up. “The black lake is forbidden, please don’t do anything stupid. Jisung is already a pain for losing house points daily,” he requested, his eyes pleading.
“Contrary to what you may think, I didn’t get sorted into Ravenclaw simply because I like the color blue. I know how to stay out of trouble.” Seungmin gave you an unimpressed look. “Okay. Okay, I won’t enter the black lake. Promise.”
“Thank you,” he let out a relieved sigh.
“I’m still learning that spell, though.”
“Y/N!”
(っ◔◡◔)っ ✿
“The library is like a second Ravenclaw common room at this point,” Chaewon pointed out, sitting next to you at a table attached to one of many narrow rows. “I’ve seen a majority of blue robes since I entered.”
“Can’t deny it,” you shrugged, amused, finishing a transfiguration assignment.
Your friend chuckled lightly, stopped abruptly when she heard a ‘shh’ from the end of the row —the librarian, no doubt— and sighed quietly. “I have five minutes to cry over my potions essay.”
“Already?”
Lunch time was about to end. Passing your own potions essay to your friend under her thanks, you packed up your things and waited for her to rectify a few facts on her parchment.
“I’m forever grateful,” the Ravenclaw girl said on your way to the dungeons, where you joined Seungmin and the Hufflepuffs.
“Come on Chae, we’re friends. I would lend you my essays anytime.”
“You’re the best Y/N!” Chaewon exclaimed, a pretty eye smile adorning her soft features, as she put her arms around one of yours.
Seungmin stood there, smiling to himself at the exchange, his eyes lingering on your face, which didn’t go unnoticed by Jisung. As you all entered the classroom, he nudged his friend.
“Is this a one-sided enemies to lovers au?”
He friendly slapped his shoulder and told him to shut up. Everyone around you both knew your past. It was quite the show.
“It’s so frustrating! He’s always ahead of me, no matter how hard I try to be the best,” you told your cousin.
It was about April of your second year. You had a cousin who was in his 7th year at that time. A Slytherin, too.
“You’re being too hard on yourself, Y/N,” he smiled as he put a hand on your shoulder.
Shinwon was always supportive and cheerful, despite your family motto (‘be the best in everything’). At seventeen, he already chose his path, his parents accepting it or not. Indeed, he wanted to become a healer at St Mungo’s and save lives. It was admirable, and you wished you were more like him.
“I know your parents are putting a lot of pressure on you, but you’re only twelve. Enjoy your school years, forge your own path, make friends and, more importantly, be happy.”
Those words actually helped you get through the end of your second year. Your cousin was now a healer at St Mungo’s as he dreamed of, and to honor his kind words, you were enjoying your school days as much as you could.
After potions, you got to herbology.
You’ve spent the two last classes learning the herbivicus charm, and Seungmin particularly loved it. All week, he practiced on the few plants in the common room, or the ones outside.
Herbology was one of your friend’s favorite subjects, he loved to take care of the plants, even outside of class. The professor let him water every plant in the greenhouses on weekends— to his request.
At lunch, you were eating with Seungmin, Chaewon, Jisung, his partner in crime and Chani. The latter looked around the table, stopped for a few seconds, then offered his hand over the table for Chaewon to shake. She confusedly did.
“Looks like we’re likely to end up together, this feels like a triple date.” Chaewon removed her hand from his under the protests and indignation of the five persons concerned. Chani put his hands up in fake surrender, “That was a joke, jeez.”
“Not very funny,” muttered Jisung before taking a sip of pumpkin juice.
“Don’t scare me like that again,” Chaewon glared at Chani, gently rubbing the hand that touched his own under the table.
He sent her an apologetic smile, and you were so immersed in their conversation that —you caught Chani’s red ears and how your friend’s features didn’t match her actions— you weren’t aware of Seungmin gazing at you, his brain going blank.
No thoughts, just your pretty eyes, cute smile and soft skin.
He snapped out of it when Jisung flicked his fingers in front of him. “You okay there, mate? Looks like you were daydreaming.”
Seungmin kicked him under the table —making him dramatically yelp in pain— and resumed eating his lunch in silence, trying his best to hide his embarrassment.
Actually, he had harbored feelings for you for quite some time, a few months before you talked out your rivalry. He never said anything, of course, by fear you would reject him or worse, end your friendship with him. He always did his best to hide his secret from everyone; that was until Jisung caught up.
During defense against the dark arts this afternoon, as Ravenclaws and Slytherins were practicing the twitchy-ears hex —and, therefore, the shield charm—, Jisung and his partner in crime were half-heartedly training, preferring taking their time to chat, glancing at Seungmin and you from time to time from the other side of the room. You were diligently practicing with Chaewon while Chani was with Seungmin.
The latter wasn’t fully concentrated though, often having the overwhelming feeling of eyes boring into him. He didn’t like that. It even made him mess up his shield charm, resulting in him feeling his ear twitch. He groaned, congratulated Chani and pointed his wand at his ear, whispering: “Finite.” Then, he hexed Jisung across the room when he wasn’t looking, his partner being confused because they wasn’t the one to hex him.
Meanwhile, Chaewon and you were pretty good at this so everytime one of you casted a spell, there was no difference. Both your shield charms were perfect.
“Almost would’ve liked to know how the hex feels,” Chaewon laughed during recess.
You were at the library, working on the herbology essay you got that morning, with Seungmin and Chaewon. Without a word, you put your wand out of your robe pocket, pointing it at your friend. She raised her hands to her ears, an unpleasant look on her face.
“I said almost! It’s quite irksome, actually.” You released her from the hex and she relaxed, quickly rubbing her ears, “Thanks.”
“My pleasure.”
Seungmin was lost in thought, thinking about how smart and talented you were. He had a stupid smile on his face until he shook his head and realized Chaewon was staring at him suspiciously. He coughed and got back to his assignment, not being able to fully focus.
He was losing control of his emotions.
That night in the common room, as you three were still working —uh, boringgg— on your assignments before dinner, Chaewon decided she had enough and preferred reading a romance book on her bed. She packed her stuff and went to her dorm, leaving Seungmin and you in a comfortable silence. Until Jisung entered the room, sneakily walking behind your backs at a safe distance.
He pointed his wand at your sleeves —they were a few inches apart— and whispered: “Epoximise.” He then fled out of the room like he was never here, excitedly thinking how his plan was working perfectly.
You didn’t notice for like twenty seconds, but when you moved your hand to write on your parchment, Seungmin’s left arm followed. You looked at each other in disbelief, raising your arms to see what could’ve happened.
Seungmin’s robe sleeve somehow merged with yours.
The sudden proximity —your pinky fingers touched a few times— embarrassed you for some reason, while Seungmin was a blushing mess.
“We should probably do something about that,” you finally say, gesturing to your hands.
“Right.”
“You should do it.”
“Yeah,” he murmured as he took his wand, “finite.”
“I wonder who did this.”
“I have an idea.” Seungmin looked upset, but you didn’t pry. “I’ll be back,” he said, getting up and leaving the common room in a hurry.
You took this time alone —well, almost, there were other Ravenclaws around— to think about why your cheeks burned as much as they did when your hands were touching.
You didn’t like him like that, right?
He was just a good friend you disliked before, who’s been nothing but sweet and understanding. A truly smart guy who, despite his gigantic love for academics and books, could always make time to help others whenever they needed. You loved that in him— wait.
No, no, no.
While you tried to convince yourself it wasn’t ‘love’ you were feeling, Seungmin was out for Jisung’s head. He found him on the spiral staircase leading to their common room, walking up in his direction.
“Jisung,” he shouted from a few stairs above him, startling not only the concerned, but a few paintings too.
“Oh, Seung, hey, how’re you doing?” he asked as he stopped in his tracks.
“What were you THINKING?”
Slowly walking backwards, Jisung started sweating, his friend’s anger intimidating him a little. “It wasn’t—”
“I know it was you, don’t deny it. I’ve felt you staring at me for hours today, I knew you were planning something.”
“I was going to say that it wasn’t meant to hurt you in any way, more like bring you two closer with a little push. I’m sorry.”
“I should hex you right now,” Seungmin huffed.
“Didn’t you already do in dada?” he raised a brow, crossing his arms.
“True. I guess we’re even, then.”
Jisung let out a relieved breath, “how did it go?”
“It was awkward,” he explained as they came back to the common room together, “and I won’t discuss this matter further with you. You’ve done your part,” he stopped to give the eagle knocker an answer to his riddle, “please don’t do anything else.”
Jisung nodded as he saw you were alone at the table, your hands in your hair like you were having a crisis. He excused himself before going to his dorm, while Seungmin sat next to you. “You okay?”
You shot your head up, using your hands to fix your hair. “Of course. Yeah. Totally.”
It looked like you were freaking out, which worried Seungmin, but he kept his mouth shut, gazing at your face. You finally looked at him and it was weird, your heart was still beating fast but you felt at ease. You managed to smile, losing yourself in his soft brown eyes.
“You’re really beautiful,” he whispered to himself but you heard it.
You blushed, your smile growing wider. “You’re beautiful, too.”
His eyes widened, his ears got red as he hid his face behind his hands.
Giggling, you gently took his hands in yours and brought them down, leaning towards him. You looked in each other’s eyes with adoration.
He slowly closed the gap between you in a chaste kiss. It didn’t last long, but it was sweet and made you all fuzzy inside. The euphoria ended immediately after a couple Ravenclaws cheered for you, though, but it was a nice feeling.
At dinner, Seungmin, Chaewon, Jisung, his partner in crime, Chani and you were all eating together, and you two lovebirds were holding hands under the table.
Jisung raised his glass out of nowhere, “I’d like to make a toast.”
“We’re fourteen,” Chani interrupted.
“Shut up and raise your damn pumpkin juice,” he cursed in a whisper, before smiling at his friends raising their own glasses —reluctantly or not. “To the new couple I helped”—Seungmin scoffed—“make happen today,” he announced as he glanced at you two, “next is your turn, buddies,” he added to the attention of Chaewon and Chani, who blushed hard.
“Cheers,” his partner in crime jovially said, before drinking.
“And when’s your turn?” Seungmin asked Jisung, murmuring over the table so he’d be the only one hearing.
“I’ll pretend I didn’t hear that,” he murmured back.
After dinner, Seungmin and you were walking around the courtyard, holding hands and making heart eyes at each other.
“Remember when I decided to learn the bubble-head charm?”
“I don’t think I like what you’re implying…” he softly answered, already feeling anxious about your next words.
“It’s not that bad, I promise,” you giggled, “I learned how to make blue sparks too.”
You put your wand out and pointed to the night sky. Making the right hand movement, jets of blue sparks came out of the tip of your wand, illuminating the sky. “Vermillious,” you enunciated, adding jets of red sparks into the mini fireworks, creating purple sparks in the process.
Seungmin was amazed, it was such a mesmerizing view. His eyes fell on your face, and, at that exact moment, intently watching as your eyes shone and your smile held pure gratification, he knew why he loved you.
You were full of life, always by his side, a good friend and so, so beautiful under the multicolored lights.

Jang Wonyoung…
Shinwon has a good point about everything he said hours back. It just never occurred to me how this all tied up almost in the same way it did before. Had I been ever-so careless with this, things might happen again; history might repeat itself and this time it might bring worse effects. He also had a good point that maybe this whole trauma thing was anchored way back in high school. After all, the reason why I was so hesitant on making a move was because I’m still fighting the shadow of the past.
Even after my friend and I split paths and I finally managed to reach home, the thoughts of a once-forgotten Wonyoung came onto my head once more. Surprisingly, even the thought of having significantly less sleep was behind me now; that library excursion definitely did its wonders and set me back on track. Well, if one problem was already out of the way, it seemed to have been replaced with another.
No matter how much I try to dissuade myself from it, it would appear that it always brought me back to that pivotal moment in high school. I was so much occupied with that thought that lingering in the background that I didn’t realize how quick I ate dinner with noona. She might have noticed something was off with me already, too. I attempted to wash it off by doing some works due on the following week, but even that yielded no results. Those thoughts plagued me again just like it did before. Wonyoung was once again in my head; something that I never viewed to be possible even until I finish University. I’m pretty sure I have forgotten about her already.
This won’t do. Distracting myself would do nothing for me.
With that, I decided to ditch the stack of papers on my desk and moved to fish something out of my drawer. This time, stacks and thick piles of papers, folders and certificates greeted me as I dearly rummaged onto something I knew I left at the lower-most part of the drawer. I was sure that I placed it in here; thrown into the very bottom as soon as noona and I moved to this apartment. There was no way that I would carelessly throw that around…
And there it was: a red folded piece of cardboard staying behind an ornate front cover. In front it bore the words:
From Jang Wonyoung to my Yoon Jae-in~
With love~
And included the date for our anniversary as well as the picture of her…
For its age, this thing was still as preserved as it could ever been. I thought that with time, it would naturally degrade in the bottom of my drawer and disappearing without even me giving a care for it anymore but surprisingly it kept up. I can’t seem to find the reason to throw it away and so I merely ended up keeping it and hoping that it would vanish into memory at some point.
Clearly, that was not the case. Reading it again at this time was never even in the slightest of my imaginations.
“Hey, Jae-in-ssi, can I come in?”
I heard the voice of Joohyun-noona come from the door, effectively startling me and as a result, Wonyoung’s letter fell out of my grasp and headed towards my desk. I turned my attention towards the door and she stood there with her head poking in further inside the room, dressed with pajama shorts that disappeared on the loose, oversized white shirt she had.
“N-noona…! I-I didn’t see you there! I didn’t hear you knock!”
“I assumed it was fine because you left it open, you little bean,” she said, nonchalant and only now did I realize that she actually holding a plate as she finally moved to walk inside my room. That shirt really looked familiar. I had a feeling that it was mine at some point. “You were so spaced out during dinner that I forgot to offer these to you. I thought we’d just share this here. Were you busy?”
“Oh no, actually I… I’m not. I’m just working on a couple of things and got distracted.”
“Oh my… is that… is that a love letter?” she said with a tone mixing curiosity and teasing. “Did someone give you that?”
My heart immediately skipped a beat as I attempted to hide it from her. However, as Joohyun-noona felt like an eagle swooping on me, she quickly swiped it up and brought it closer to her face. I didn’t even realize how she was suddenly beside me as if she just teleported.
“Omo, Jae-in, this looked like it came from a long time ago! Wait… it says here that it’s from… Wonyoung…? Is this ‘Wonyoung’ as in Jang Wonyoung, your ex-girlfriend from high school? Oh wait; it does say ‘Jang Wonyoung’…”
“I-It is, noona… please, I just stumbled upon it. That’s all there is to it. Please give it back,” I told her as I completely felt my cheeks flush red. This is so embarrassing.
“Why are you looking at this now? Do you miss her?”
I blushed red and my ears went hot.
“No, I don’t! It’s now what you think, noona. It’s nothing!”
“Ooohhhh… so you do miss her hmm? I’m envious. She must have been on your mind all these time. Here I am thinking that your noona is the only woman in your mind~”
“Noona, what are you talking about? Please, I need it back.”
Oh my god, what is going on?
I attempted to reach it out of her grasp, but then she was quick to swat my hand out of my reach.
I then heard Joohyun-noona giggle.
“Yeah, sure, I’ll give this back to you under one condition.”
“Which is?”
Joohyun noona pulled the extra-chair I kept behind the ladder and proceeded to sit on it. She then placed the plate of tarts on the table and proceeded to fetch a piece with the fork.
“You never told me anything about this Wonyoung girl aside from the fact that she’s your ex-girlfriend. I figured maybe, with all the spacing out you’ve been doing during dinner, that she’s a factor for that. Something must have happened recently that you’ve thought of bringing this out again. Go on. Start from the beginning. Unfortunately for you, little bean, I have a free sched tonight so I can listen to you all night long.”
“Yah, noona, I can’t just do that! It’s too awkward to even talk about her!”
“Why? You two weren’t doing anything inappropriate before, were you? Well, it’s up to you Jae-in… I could easily just read this and see what’s inside~”
Oh my god there’s not getting out of this now.
“Yah, that’s unfair! Okay fine, I’ll tell it to you, just please give the letter back. I’ll tell you everything from the start.”
I saw Joohyun smirk as she finally handed out the letter back to me. She immediately crossed her legs and went on off on a comfortable position, all while I sighed at the defeat of my sister’s hands once again.
Well, we might as well begin this…
How do I even start this?
It was so damn long ago…
“So… umm… Jang Wonyoung and I were school mates back in high school...I- I may have mentioned that before, but the thing is, we were never really classmates. We never ended up as such. It was a miracle that we even met the way that we did…”
“How did you two meet then?”
“It started when she found my number on a workstation computer, on a brochure I made for one of our technology subjects. We were just freshmen by then when she…”
---START OF FLASHBACK, APPROXIMATELY FOUR YEARS AGO---
The thrill of the approaching graduation day was already in the air as two young couple were busy eating their dinner in the midst of the incoming evening. Twilight sky had started to cover the skies, turning the red-orange hue of the heavens to its impending dark indigo. Like usual, the first batches of starts started to like the gazing horizon, but even then Yoon Jae-in seemed to be unfazed as he merely enjoyed the company of his girlfriend, Jang Wonyoung, on a small fast-food chain in Metro Station Mall. ENOZI Restaurant has always been her favourite ones, and it would only stand to reason for Jae-in to invite her there on their final dinner as high school sweet hearts.
Wonyoung had just finished her platter and was occupied on staring at her boyfriend of two years, appreciating the subtle details of his face that she always knew and loved.
“Time flies so fast, you know,” Jae-in said as he wiped his mouth with the provided napkin. “In just a couple of days we’re saying good-bye to our high school life. It was amazing, especially because I know I’m leaving with a special treasure in tow.”
“It’s not only you who’s graduating with a special remembrance, keep that in mind. If it was not for the high school, I never would have met you, my Jae-in~” the young lady Wonyoung said with a smile, stretching her arms to hold Jae-in’s hand from the other side of the table.
“I was actually talking about Kino and the others, you know. No one can compete against the treasure of friends.”
Wonyoung pouted.
“I’m just kidding; of course, the greatest treasure would always be you, my Wony~”
“Aish… you always know how to tick me off. How could you be a guy and be so damn cute? Your existence I in this very world seemed to be very illegal. I sure am going to miss seeing you every single day once we go to college… it kind of makes me wish that I chose Engineering as well instead of heading to nursing school. At least if it turned out like that, then I could be by your side every time that we’re at Univ. If I had it my way, I would not let you off of my eyes; not when there are a lot of girls in college who would attempt to take you away from me.”
“Hey, hey,” Jae-in replied, and this time he was the one who held Wonyoung’s hand tighter than she did to him previously. “Nursing school is not that far from Engineering. We’re merely separated by buildings, my love. Even if our schedule’s not in sync, I’m sure we can work things out in the long run. We always did, right? We graduated still being together, Wony. Our entire batch is literally looking up at us as the ideal couple of the sections, not that it matters to me, but it’s still something worth noting. We won’t be reaching that had we not have an already good impression with it.”
Wonyoung sighed.
“I get it, my love~ I do appreciate that everyone admires us for being the last standing couple of our year, but still… at least you have Kino, Shinwon, and Kyungsoo to be coming with you when you go to college; at least you won’t be alone on your stay there especially on the first few days, of which I think is the most crucial. I feel so alone already just thinking about it, maybe even envious going in there without you.”
“Come on now, my love~”
“Even your dreaded ‘girl best friend’ is there with you on that department. That thought alone makes me want to shift courses and stay in Engineering just so I could keep you out of that witch.”
“Hye, I know that you’re not in good terms with Y—“
The mention of the first syllable immediately earned Jae-in a glare from Wonyoung. She didn’t even hear the entire name and yet she was sure to react to it already. After all, there was one girl that she thinks has the greatest possibility of stealing Jae-in from her.
“Excuse me, with my best friend, but she’s not really that into me. I kept on reminding you of that. Come on, we’re just friends. We go way back and I trust her. I repeatedly suggest that you do too. She’s a nice person, really.”
“I know that you’re friends and all that… but the fact that the two of you are very close friends and she seemed to always end up wherever you go… it’s hard to not even get jealous of her, my love. I hope you understand what I’m feeling. I mean, she hates me and I know that. We don’t need to be friends just because you’re her ‘bestfriend’, that is if she views you on the same way you’re insisting as. I know for a fact that she really does not approve of you dating me, right? What could possibly be the reason for that? It honestly won’t come as a surprise to me in case it would turn out that she secretly likes you. The thought of it alone is already making my blood boil.
“She’s the last person I would like to see you end up with,” she concluded with a bitter tone, bringing her gaze down back towards their intertwined hands.
“Shh, come on now… it is not going to happen. My heart is yours and yours only my love. She will always be my best friend no matter what happens, and you will always be my jagiya.”
“It’s just… don’t you get why I’m so scared of that happening, Jae-in?”
The smile from Jae-in’s face faded in utmost subtlety while he recomposed himself for a reply.
“I… I know. That’s the reason why I was trying to distance myself from her. I’m not even talking to her these days…”
“Exactly… we started on the same way years ago. You and I were the best of friends before we decided to date each other after a year into our friendship. What makes it different that you and your… bestfriend would not end up on the same road?”
“Wonyoung-ah, please calm down. I love you, okay? Don’t forget about that. No matter how close Y—we are, we’re never getting close to how we ended up, right? Are you afraid because it was you who made the first move for me?”
Wonyoung visibly pouted and averted her gaze somewhere inside the room.
“Yah… I saw your fictional brochure for our technology subject. I just so happened to end up on the same PC work station as you were, oppa, and I just saw how beautifully designed yours was. I would even go out there and say that it was better than what I did, perhaps better than anything else I saw from my section. It even came as such a huge surprise that you included your real phone number. At least because of that, I found a way to talk to you. I pulled my luck and here we are…”
Jae-in smiled.
“It always felt like it was fated, you know. Maybe we’re really destined to meet each other from the very beginning.”
“Yeah sure, we really were destined,” Wonyoung said as she withdrew her hand and rolled her eyes away from Jae-in. “Until maybe this so-called ‘girl best friend’ of yours steals you from me, maybe.”
“Hey, hey, I won’t trade you for anything in this world. You’re my girlfriend, Jang Wonyoung, and always will be. We already did everything together, and I’m more than happy to choose you over and over again. I mean, come on now; you and I are each other’s’ firsts in literally everything. My high school life was fun because I had everything with you.”
Wonyoung planted her searing gaze back at Jae-in and proceeded to redirect it once again.
“Do you remember that I was the one who asked you for this dinner?”
“Mhhhmmm…”
“Well, as much as it feels weird to bring this out of nowhere, I actually have a surprise for you. This is not something that I’m bringing up just because you’re being jealous towards my best friend, but it is actually something that I always meant to give to you on this very evening.”
Wonyoung rolled her eyes and teased Jae-in, earning a chuckle from her boyfriend.
“Well, what if it is actually that case… show it to me, my love~”
“I don’t think I can come up with this on the spot. I promise you that you’ll love this. Wony~ someone actually called me earlier today, right before we wrapped up for the final grad practice and…”
“And…?”
“The scholarship that I found for you… they finally responded and… you’re in! You’ve passed the assessment exams and you’re a scholar on their program!”
At that instant, Wonyoung immediately dropped her act and wide-eyed Jae-in from the other side of the table. She didn’t even notice her mouth hang open at her surprise with the news. Somehow, with everything that happened in-between and during practices, the news of the pending scholarship response was quite unexpected. Jae-in knew that she would make it, and the release of the results could never have been a more perfect graduation gift for her.
“Oh my; that’s good news! Oh my god Jae-in… I’m officially a scholar? Oh my…!”
“See, I told you that it’s difficult to even make-up on the spot. I just received the call hours ago, like I said. I’ve been holding back the whole day and it was hilarious to have to tell it here in this circumstance.”
“Yah, I’m really happy… I genuinely am, but don’t think immediately that you’re forgiven just because of that. I’m still upset because of your best friend,” she then pouted. However, to Jae-in, it felt forced as Wonyoung was clearly happy with the news. He knew that she was putting on the act once again.
“Okay, you know what, how about we get out of Metro Station and go for a walk home?” Jae-in said, in attempt to change the subject into something else while giving his girlfriend a wide, toothy grin. “I’ll treat you with ice cream on the way home. After all, we need to celebrate! We’re graduating tomorrow, and together like we always would be. What do you think about that?”
The young woman’s pout eventually turned into a wide smile as she stood up. Wonyoung then brushed the long layer of dress she wore off of any crumbs that could have caught during the dinner, all before fishing her bright purse. Jae-in joined her and stood up as well, and as he turned his attention to his girlfriend, Wonyoung already had her hands outstretched towards his direction with her pink-painted nails in perfect display for him.
“I take that as a ‘yes’, I guess?” Jae-in asked.
“I would not have taken it if you weren’t so cute, you know. You can’t keep on doing this to me, because you know that I’ll always fall for it.”
“It’s your kryptonite; therefore it is my secret weapon. Shall we go?”
The young man then graciously offered his arm of which Wonyoung more than gladly wrapped her arm around on. Then, with a curt smile to the waiters and waitresses that served them, Jang Wonyoung and Yoon Jae-in left the restaurant heading to the ice cream store that he previously mentioned; the rest of the older patrons of the eatery admired the cute couple as they went on ahead.
---MOMENTS LATER---
It did not take that long for the ice cream session to push through as it was merely just a simple stop-by at Wonyoung’s favourite store. The night was fast approaching, and it was already close to eight in the evening when Jae-in and Wonyoung were walking down towards the road that lead to the latter’s house. Her hands wrapped on her boyfriend’s arm as well as having her fingers intertwined with his. Because of the chilly weather, coupled with the dress that Wonyoung wore that exposed the majority of her lengthy legs, Jae-in had to compensate for her by lending her his jacket so as to counter the cold weather. It was the sort of gesture that Jae-in always wanted to do, especially for his girlfriend because there was that feeling of assurance coming from his side.
In his head, they looked really cute together. He and Wonyoung were perhaps the perfect couple.
It was weird, however, that he even thought of offering Wonyoung her favourite Mint Chocolate in this time. It was even weirder that she didn’t even hesitate on grabbing it.
Regardless, the conclusion to their night date was about to come. That perhaps explains why Wonyoung was taking her utmost time walking with Jae-in; surely, even if she decided to walk on her normal pace, she would have gone home easily. Jae-in, on the other hand, didn’t really mind the development. After all, it felt like the last time as high schoolers after being in a relationship in high school for so long.
“Jae-in~” Wonyoung’s soft voice shot through the silence as they both approached the final corner to her home. “Can you promise me something? I will only ask this of you just once… and I hope you give me the answer that I want to hear…”
“What is it, my love?”
“Can you promise me that we’re still going to get through college like how we did in high school? Can you promise me that we would make this relationship work out in North Line… please?”
“Why does this sound like a wedding vow?”
The young girl curved her thin lips and stifled a soft giggle.
“Maybe it is… please, promise me, Jae-in. Promise me.”
“Okay, okay… I promise you, Wonyoung. I promise you that we would make this work no matter what.”
“Yay~ Thank you so much! I love you, my Jae-in~”
“I love you too, Wony~”
And so, every written rule of not showing affections in public was broken as Jae-in and Wonyoung hugged in the middle of the quiet street. It was fortunate that the evening was ripe, and no one else was there but the two of them. The hug was tight, sincere and very emotional, and what followed was the immediate soft peck of Jae-in’s lips courtesy of Wonyoung’s own.
The promise was given on that evening and it was all that Jae-in needed to survive his incoming college life, quite positive that whatever life could throw him post-graduation, he was happy because he had Wonyoung beside him. With that, Jae-in finally walked his girlfriend to her home and concluded the evening with a smile on his face, looking forward for what the next level of their relationship has in store for both of them.
---SOME TIME AFTER THE GRADUATION CEREMONY---
As expected, the graduation ceremony commenced as it normally would have and it was inevitable for the class to shed some tears on the incoming farewell. After all, they were saying ‘good-bye’ to the people that made the best years of their life truly enjoyable, and that included Jae-in with a couple of friends he met along the way. Lucky for him, he was one of the fortunate members of that batch who would end up going to North Line as opposed to other batch mates who would have to either head overseas or go to a new city. At least the separation anxiety from him was not that great compared to the others with him.
Lucky for him, and perhaps for Wonyoung, the ‘nation’s power couple’ of batch 20XX would head to the same school to celebrate their relationship ahead. It would not even come as a surprise to the rest of the class if Yoon Jae-in and Jang Wonyoung wound up marrying each other, because that was how strong they viewed their relationship. A lot of people would agree that they were perfectly made for each other; the couple that no one else could split.
The timeline amidst varying academic levels was uneven, and to compensate for the new school opening of North Line University, Jae-in, Wonyoung, and their other batch mates had to endure a good four-month long vacation to prepare for the adjustment. To him, it was a much needed break for all the years of studying he did during high school, and eventually promised himself to do all sorts of memorable antics within those four months to prepare him for the terror that is college. Apparently one of those memorable antics was dating Wonyoung as much as he could, and the other was perhaps joining Kino and Kyungsoo in playing their favourite online arena game while he was at it.
A month has passed and Jae-in was able to keep his promise to his girlfriend; perfectly juggling his schedule between his friends and soon-to-be college classmates as well as his relationship with Jang Wonyoung. It would be convenient as well, as Wonyoung had discovered quite a bit of a hobby for herself which was attending music class to be a cellist. One day, a date was schedule by Wonyoung herself, inviting Jae-in to a café that she always wanted to go to; a small and glass-filled bakery-café placed at the corner of one block.
Jang Wonyoung showed up that day looking as gorgeous as she could ever have been. Without the restrictions of high school uniform, she was able to showcase the beauty of her fashion sense wearing a floral blue dress and soft highlights in her hair, clearly fresh from her morning session at the music school. The huge cello was lodged in a case and plopped carefully next to the wall as she sat opposite Jae-in, who managed to somehow try to level with her clothing with a neat, mint sleeved shirt as well as white slacks.
“Of all the dates I’ve had with you, this honestly felt like the most ‘formal’,” he commented after swallowing a piece of pasta. “I kind of like it that it’s like this. Do you think we should do this more often, my love?”
Wonyoung nodded enthusiastically.
“Now that I’m able to wear whatever I want, I really am looking forward to showcasing you what’s on my wardrobe. I honestly have a lot of outfits that were shadowed by the uniform. I can even bet that you’ve never even seen most of them, my Jae-in.”
“Oh…? With the entire try out photos that you’ve been sending me through message, you still haven’t shown me most of your closet?”
“Honestly, it baffles me too that I have too much to wear. At least I could wear a lot of things and outfits before I get caught on with the mandatory nursing uniform again.”
“Well, you always suit whatever you wear, my Wony. You were always the fashionista and I love that about you.”
“Aww… but I’m pretty sure that you love everything about me as well.”
“Oh, and did I mention that you have a thing for words too?”
Wonyoung smirked and her red lips only ignited more of Jae-in’s interests towards her. Had she not been his girlfriend all these time, it would easily to mistake him as an assistant with how significantly underdressed he is.
“So… we’ve been here for a while now,” relayed Jae-in; as he continued the conversation after that short pause. “I’m still curious as to why you asked me out on this odd time. Normally you’d go for dates when it’s close to evening, so I would assume that there’s something going on. Does it have something to do with music class?”
“Oh, I’m glad that you introduced that before I could. It makes things a lot easier… and… yeah; it has something to do with music class. I really admire how smart you are, my Jae-in~ you seemed to have easily pieced things out even before I could tell it to you myself.”
He smiled in return before moving to hold her hand from across the table.
“I would not be your boyfriend for years if I didn’t have a hint the moment I saw those look on your eyes. Go on now, I’ll be listening. What is it about?”
“Well, I’ve been in music school since we started this four-month vacation and things have been going well for me. Of course, I owe it all to you who pushed me beyond my own beliefs and my own capabilities that I managed to get to this stage of this hobby… so I think it was just fitting for you to be the first to know that I got accepted at a recital.”
“Wait, are you serious? You’ve been in school for two months and yet you’re already invited to that? You must be really talented on that, my Wony~ Congratulations! When is this happening?”
That was when Wonyoung pursed her lips, hesitating before even moving to speak up once again.
“That… that is the catch… the thing is, the school had apparently started to expand their services on not just beyond Seoul itself but also on further districts and cities, so for this recital they decided to use it as a promotional event... What I’m trying to say is that… I got accepted at their offer for a recital but it would happen far from here. I would have to be away for at least a two weeks or so while the recital is being prepared and all. That would include practices, formal rehearsals and all that, as all part of the training regimen for the school.”
Jae-in knit his eyebrows. He honestly could not think of a reason why Wonyoung would not be so enthusiastic about it.
“Hey, you’re not thinking of not going now, are you?”
“I’m honestly considering it. It’s really far from here and… and I don’t want to be away from you that long.”
“Hey, hey, don’t worry about me. Come on now, this might be your huge break! The fact that you’re invited for a recital that fast must mean that they can see a huge potential on you, and I don’t want to be the person who would hold you back on that. I want the world to know of your talents Wony, because I know that you have a lot of them~ I want them to see how good you really are. Go. Don’t worry about me.”
“Are you sure about that?” she asked with her beady, puppy eyes.
“Of course… think about it, if you’re really missing me, I can go there. I can head there by foot, train or cab; whatever it takes I’ll be sure to be there when you need me. Plus, this is a huge adventure for us as a couple. We promised that we’d all go all-in before we head to college right, especially in terms of the things that would make both of us happy? At least by then, we won’t have any regrets. That would be the best thing that could ever happen for us in the long run. I trust that you already have friends there, so at least you won’t be too lonely without me.”
“I… I do have some friends there but… Promise me that you would call, okay?”
“I would, Wony. Of course I would…. I know you can’t stand being away from me for that long. Let’s make this work, okay?”
Wonyoung smiled.
“You never cease to amaze me, Yoon Jae-in. I’ll always be happy that you ended up as my boyfriend. I love you so much!”
“Oh you have no idea how lucky I am to have you, Jang Wonyoung. I love you so much.”
---TWO WEEKS LATER---
Jang Wonyoung relayed exactly how the following week would turn out and like she mentioned, there were limited amounts of time that she and Jae-in would actually even communicate. The first couple of days after setting Wonyoung off were perhaps the most interactive days ever. It was expected; as the entire music school was perhaps beginning to arrange their respective itineraries upon the new setting, the schedules and rehearsals weren’t that much prominent. This gave the young couple ample time to communicate together with phone and video calls that lasted for hours even beyond their own sleeping time, making sure to see each other on every minute they possibly could before things get really busy.
After a while, their vocal and visual communications were reduced to instant messaging as her rehearsals began to get frequent and eventually, hectic. Jae-in, on the other hand, occupied the huge amount of free time given to him by occasionally familiarising himself with the route to their new school, North Line International, while at the same time occupying himself with the presence of his friends. He always knew that Shinwon was a huge fan of co-op games and managed to find a newly-opened internet café not far from the university itself. It was a signal that drew in Jae-in, Shinwon, and Kino amongst other people they met in high school to test the new shop out. It was suffice to say that while Wonyoung was busy on her recital; Jae-in was also busying himself being connected by a lot of his friends before they eventually split for the university. Despite that, he still made sure that contacting Wonyoung would stay as an utmost priority, merely keeping the bond with his friends as something that would keep him occupied while he waited for her.
Soon enough, she would message him about the details. It would only be a matter of time before he would finally see his girlfriend perform with her talents. He knew that Wonyoung would amaze the world the first chance she gets, and he was the first person who never really ceased on believing on her.
However, despite developing a strong interest on a particular Multiplayer Online Battle-Arena game, Jae-in made sure to check on Wonyoung every day. He sent sweet, good night messages and morning wishes for her to be well; and all that despite her not really checking the chat out or even seeing it. Perhaps the practice was very tiring and he always accepted that as a good reason for her absence.
Two weeks passed. Jae-in and Wonyoung’s conversations were still as dry and minimal as ever but he still believed that she was busy and that things were being taken care of. The recital program must have extended, granted that she should be back at the city by then. Things might have adjusted considering she didn’t even mention when the performance day would actually be. Like usual, he spent the day on the internet café again being alone with just Kino as they both waited for the other members to come. The pair had just finished one game on a good note with Jae-in being overly happy with his performance in a support role.
“Damn, that was so refreshing. I wish all of our games could go that way,” he exhaled as he stretched his arms from the unit. “Did Shinwon and the other say about coming here? They’re supposed to be here now, right?”
“They are. Actually, I’m surprised that you’re the first one to even be here. You seem to have been going here a lot these days. Is everything alright?” asked Kino, returning to the matchmaking lobby but not placing them both on a queue just yet.
“What…? Of course everything is okay, man. It’s just… I guess you can say that my schedule became a lot more freed up. I’m going here earlier now because I want to be occupied as well.”
“I see… Jae-in, you know, you’re my friend and I… I usually don’t want to go asking these things because it’s weird but… are you and Wonyoung still dating?”
Jae-in immediately shifted his gaze from the monitor towards Kino, who sat beside him with a confused yet concerned expression.
“Of course we still are… she’s just busy nowadays, is all. I guess you noticed me going here a lot, that is because she’s busying herself so I figured I’d be busy here as well.”
“Were you two talking still even when she’s there for her practices?”
“Well… not that recently… she seemed to be really occupied. I feel like the schedule’s moved up as well because she never told me when the recital day would be on.”
Kino sighed and nodded silently. As much as Jae-in really was not a fan of how the conversation was developing, he chose to wait for the rest of Kino’s statement. It certainly appeared to be a huge introduction for something big about to come.
That small fraction of a minute filled with silence between them both was perhaps the most gut-wrenching he’s felt for a while.
“Yeah… about that… umm, you know that Wonyoung and I have the same general street heading home right? I… I actually saw her last night. I don’t know why you’re not aware, but she’s actually back here, man. I figured I’d ask because you didn’t seem to have an idea.”
“She’s here…?”
“Yeah, and that’s not all that. I saw her getting inside a car with a guy who’s about the same age as us. I don’t know man; it could be her cousin but… I can’t just keep myself from not telling you. I think it’s a personal responsibility as you friend.”
“Are you sure that it’s her that you saw? She would have told me already by now.”
“I’m positive that it’s her. I’ve been her classmate and I could not mistake her for another person. The guy, however, is someone I don’t even recognize.”
“That’s probably just her cousin, Kino. Also, I can’t see a reason why Wonyoung won’t tell me that she’s here already. If ever there was a reason for that, then maybe she’s planning to surprise me of something. I trust her, man. I’m sure she has her reasons. Don’t worry about it.”
“Well, okay then. Don’t think about it too much. In case I’m the one who is wrong, I’d feel such an idiot for even forcing ideas onto you. I just had to get it off of my system. I’m wishing for the best. In the meantime, let’s just have another game, shall we?”
“That’s good to know. Thanks man. Let’s go.”
---
Kino’s information had planted itself deep onto Jae-in’s head for the succeeding days. As much as he did not want to over think, it was indeed weird that Wonyoung had not even bothered to tell him that she’s back from the recital. In fact, there was no even update what happened during her stay out of town. However, Jae-in’s love and trust for her still came on top, which is the reason why he elected to simply wait for her to update.
Finally, his waiting paid off and Wonyoung eventually contacted him.
Jang Wonyoung apologized for disappearing for so long and so asked to head to the ENOZI restaurant once again, which was now renovated and renamed as ‘LOVE DIVE café’. The atmosphere was weird on that day; the sun had disappeared and was covered under a huge blanket of grey clouds as if rain was about to come. If not, it certainly served as a deep warning that something bad was about to come. Yet, there was Jae-in still optimistic and hoping that it was not the case.
Jae-in came at the scene first, reserving a seat nearby the window just as Wonyoung always loved. He elected to order before she did, having a large serving of the meat mix she always bugged him about the moment she comes back from the recital trip. The only thing that was missing that day was the presence of Wonyoung herself, and fortunately right after their respective orders were served, she finally came. Wonyoung’s fit for that day was a huge stray away compared to her normal, fashionable looks; settling merely on simple tucked white shirt over her long, slender legs covered with a long, brown coat finished with a high ponytail. She gave Jae-in a shy smile, nodded, and awkwardly shuddered before proceeding to sit opposite him.
“Wonyoung-ah, hi…! It’s really good to see you. I have missed you so much! How have you been?”
The young girl gave another set of unenthusiastic smiles before falling to a frown.
“Jae-innah… I… I didn’t actually come here to eat… but as always, I really appreciate that you ordered ahead for me… that’s always something that made me appreciate you more…”
“You seem so sad; my love… did something bad happen when you were away? Are you okay?”
As much as there were a lot of questions that he wanted to ask her, he did not want to flood her right away. He took things slowly like he usually did, and hopefully it would pay-off for him in the end.
“I am… s-sorry, Jae-innah… I know I’m the one who invited you here so… not eating with you after asking you out is the least thing that I should be sorry for. I’m just… it was a crazy two weeks… a lot of things happened…”
Jae-in reached across the table and held Wonyoung’s slender hand with his own, caressing her long fingers that were now rid of any sort of manicure. The sensation of her cold skin against his already told him that something was dearly off.
“What happened? Did you not make it to the recital? Did something happen? You weren’t messaging me for days and I thought…. But I trust that you saw my messages, right?”
“Jae-in… please don’t make this harder for me… I did. I admit that I openly read your messages but I can’t seem to find the correct message to reply with you. B-because… while I was away for a couple of weeks, I was able to delve into some thoughts and… I realized a lot of stuff, not just within myself but to us as a couple as well.”
Initially, the moment that Jae-in felt his girlfriend’s rather downtrodden mood he elected to bring the atmosphere up by greeting her with enthusiasm. After all he did miss the love of Wonyoung that was absent for weeks. However, now that she already set the heavy mood for whatever she has to say, Jae-in could only do so much and match her pace finally. Somehow the mood that the sky already gave was correct ever since he left the front door; something was bothering Wonyoung and he was about to find out.
“May I ask what those things that you… realized were?”
Wonyoung gulped.
“I love you Jae-in, but I don’t think we can continue on with this relationship anymore.”
The world may have crumbled at that instant.
Did he just hear right?
“W-Wony… w-what are you…? W-What do you mean that…?”
Wonyoung pursed her lips before proceeding to speak again. Every syllable that escaped her small lips was filled with hesitation and perhaps even pity.
“I have to end it now… because once I get… once I get as busy as I did when I was away, I can’t bring myself to stay in peace knowing that there’s someone who’s waiting for me. We know that college would be really busy and—“
“But we promised that we’ll make it work out, right? We promised each other after graduation that we’d do anything to keep this relationship intact right? You were even the one that made me promise that, so what happened?”
Wonyoung bit her lip and retracted her hand from Jae-in and hid it under the table. She then anxiously gazed around the café and pouted to her boyfriend once more.
“I… I know that I made you promise and I already feel bad that I’m telling this to you… but… I got really good with the recital and all… the school asked me to be a temporary aide in the music school, and I would teach younger musicians how to play… I figured, I would be really busy and so I would have less time for you... how much more can we manage this when we’re already at university, right?”
“Wony… I don’t get it. All of these things that you were telling me is a problem would only hurt us for a couple of months, so why are you telling me to end whatever’s between us before we even head to college? Are you worried that I might grow tired of waiting for you, is that what you’re telling me?”
“N-no… I know that you’re willing and you can do those things for me… but as a person in good conscience, I cannot just… I cannot just live with the fact that you’re waiting for me when I can’t even hope to continue on what’s between us… that would be too unfair. I have no idea how I would juggle both studying and doing my future commitments with the music school knowing that I have you being left unchecked. I cannot bring myself to do that to you…I know that you deserve more, my love, which is why I’m deciding to let you go.”
Jae-in’s shoulders sank. His temples were starting to fill with cold sweats as his heart beat heavily against his chest.
“Isn’t this being unfair to me? You’re already telling what you think I would do even before it happens… I promised it to you, Wony… I promised that we would make this work out… why are you telling me that you need to let me go now? What happened?”
“Jae-in, please… don’t make this harder for me… It’s already breaking my heart to ask too much of you… please…”
Jae-in’s face flushed red as he tried to keep himself as calm as possible.
“Is this what you really want, Wonyoung?”
“Jae-in…”
“Wonyoung… I love you. You know that. If this is really what you want… if letting me go was your absolute solution for your future problems… then tell me. If you need a couple of days without me to think, I’ll gladly give it to you. Please… I don’t want you to be deciding so impulsively…”
There was another silence between then. Perhaps even the outside skies have begun to catch up on the impending grief between them both as soft drizzles showed upon the window.
“Wonyoung,” Jae-in said, softer this time while he clenched his fist in frustration. “But if this is really what you want; if trading our two years of love and relationship for the fear you think would come in the future, I ask you to not tell it straight to my face. If you’re decided, if you think that this is the decision that was best for us, then leave. I will respect whatever decision you do, but please think about it thoroughly. We haven’t gone this far just for us to end like this. We’ve been through worse, and this is just the beginning. Are you sure that you want to give up on us already now?”
Wonyoung looked at him in disbelief, only to be met by Jae-in’s own gaze of pure stone-cold silence. Unlike her who was already showing signs of tearing up, Jae-in strangely looked composed. He merely looked at Wonyoung straight with his sharp eyes waiting for a decision.
He wanted to ask her about Kino’s hint. Jae-in wanted to ask Wonyoung if she’s doing this because her heart finally wavered for another man, yet in the end he knew he could not bring himself to do that. He trusted Wonyoung with all of his heart, and even with a sliver of illusion he would never think that she would even do that to him.
Jae-in trusted her, so he never pushed himself to ask the question.
A couple of minutes later, a dreadful screech coming from a chair being dragged across the floor were heard. Jang Wonyoung stood in front of him, tears flooding her puppy eyes down towards her cheeks. The somewhat forceful manner of her dragging the chair as she stood earned a good look from the handful of people seated beside them both, clearly giving a soft and curious gaze to the young couple who’s table lay food that were not even touched.
“I hope that you find the girl for you, Yoon Jae-in. I’m so sorry. Good-bye.”
And with one swift turn she disappeared, leaving a trail of her coat as she walked out of the café. The once enthusiastic image of ENOZI café seemed to have died down the moment it changed, leaving Wonyoung’s love for him with it. Yoon Jae-in gave one last look on his girlfriend not knowing that it would be the last that he’d see of her for a long time, still quite shocked that she just broke up with him in one quick swing.
---END OF FLASHBACK, BACK ON JAE-IN’S ROOM WITH IRENE---
“Wonyoung unfriended and unfollowed me on all of our socials after we broke up, but she forgot to do the same with my friends. About three weeks after we have broken up, Kino showed me a picture of her with a guy who turned out to be her new boyfriend, posted in Instagram in celebration of their first month together. I would not have cared whether it was out of spite or out of sheer desire to move on, until Kino positively recognized the guy to be the same person he saw Wonyoung share a car with on that fated night. In the end, I was attacked by my very trust for her. I thought that she would not even do something like that to me, but I guess even that long of a relationship is still not enough for her to choose me.”
“Oh my god,” I heard Joohyun-noona as she brought her hand to cover her mouth. “Three weeks…? Does that mean…?”
I nodded shortly.
“If I’m going to do the math right, Wonyoung might have met the guy in preparation for her recital back then. She repeatedly insisted that that was not the case, but the math just made sense. The fact that they celebrated their first month together shortly after we broke up meant that at some point she agreed to date him while we were still officially together. I don’t know what happened during the time that she was there but… back then I was too hurt and bitter to even think about it. I just let it slide and focused my attention on moving on from her.”
“Wow… I never knew that you had such a tragic experience with her. To think that she was even your first love back in high school… the audacity…”
“The impact was terrible on me, noona. I would say that after that, I got a bit scared to commit again because I was traumatized with what she did. I was truly traumatized on trusting girls. I kept questioning whether I was worth it or not, or whether it was my fault that I lacked on something that caused Wonyoung to cheat on me with someone else. I would say that it took a good while before I got confident with myself again. There were a lot of self-doubts.”
“So what happened to her and the guy; are they still together?”
I nodded.
“Kino’s still seeing her on her feed. I guess they’ve been together longer than Wonyoung and I have ever been.”
I turned towards Joohyun noona who froze on the spot, still having her hand over her mouth.
“But are you okay now?”
“There’s certainly that little ghost there… same reason why I never had a girlfriend ever since Wonyoung. I wanted to be ready.”
“As you should… well, there’s still one thing bugging me though, Jae-in.”
“What is it, noona?”
She then pointed towards the letter.
“If you and Wonyoung did not really end up well, and she was the reason why you’re revelling in your own traumas… then why are you still keeping her letter with you? If I were you, I would have thrown it away ages ago. It would seem to be a better option.”
“I don’t know noona… I always told myself to keep it for something… something like a reminder especially when times that I need to recall the worst episodes of my life thus far.”
“A reminder for what, exactly…?”
“A reminder of the time that I should not take feelings too lightly… a reminder that I should never allow myself to fall into the same darkness that I did after Jang Wonyoung… that I did not went through all that sad crap after her just to fall into the same place once again…
“It would serve as a reminder to not repeat the same mistakes I did ever again, noona.”
The fact that this showed up this time is just a perfect timing….
I have a feeling that I’m going to need that reminder very soon.

If you're still doing the little prompt game maybe Hongseok or Jaeyoon and baking cookies? 🍪
“Cookie Monster”
~Pairing: Hongseok x gn!reader
~Genre: Rotten Fluff. Established relationship
~Words: 0,8K
~Warnings: mention of food, pet names, one little (and very subtle) suggestive thought- Sorry if there are any mistakes!!
a/n: Hi Anon! Thank you so much for the request! Sorry for the wait, I hope you like it. I ended up writing about Hongseok because of his love for Cookie Monster lol. Plus, I missed writing about Pentagon!!
~Foxy🦊
>Request your scenario here<
~Masterlist~
----------
Hongseok likes your cookies.
Ok, maybe 'like' was an understatement. He LOVES your cookies.
He loves them so much, that even on a strict diet, he'd ask you to bake him the most diet-like cookies you've ever seen. You weren't sure if oats and bananas mixed together counted as a cookie.
He would brag to the other members that your cookies were the best in the world, but at the same time, he wanted to gatekeep, eating all of them before the members could get a taste. This was why you called him your cookie monster.
y/n 💕- Hey cookie, could you pick up a bag of chocolate chips on your way home pls?
hong 🍪- Sure honey. I'm on my way
y/n 💕- Thanks, you're the best 🫶
----------
When Hongseok reached home, you had already put all the ingredients in a bowl and had the oven on for preheating. Coming from behind and wrapping his arms around your waist he announced "I'm home. With your choco chips"
You spun around and wrapped your arms around his neck, pecking him on the lips. "You're a lifesaver, thanks babe. Now put those muscular arms for good use and help me hand mix these, please." You both chuckled as he moved to the toilet to wash his hands.
This wasn't the first time you baked together, but for Hongseok it always felt like it was. The domestic scene of you preparing trays with a baking sheet while he hand-mixed the cookies made his heart swell. He hoped that things would stay like this in the future.
When he was done you moved to get two ice cream scoopers so you both could scoop the dough into balls. Looking at the dough it was tempting to eat a little, but Hong refrained from it, remembering about the flour and raw eggs. When one of the trays was full, you moved it to the oven, while Hong kept on scooping the rest into the other tray until the dough ended.
With all the cookies in the oven, you're able to finally give attention to your boyfriend
"How was your day handsome?" You said handing him a cup of lemonade and sitting by his side on the sofa
"It was good. Went to the gym, had a shower there, and then I went to my mom's house. She wanted help with building a new cupboard she bought. The manual was really confusing..." You let him ramble about how his day went, but couldn't help but daydream about him. He was the perfect boyfriend. Caring and sweet, he liked pets, he helped his mom a lot... He even helped elderly people! You once saw him helping the old lady from the floor above you, by carrying her groceries from her car to the elevator.
"You're not listening to me"
"I am baby" you responded quickly
"Yeah sure, what was I talking about?" he smirked
"Oh well! let me check the cookies!!"
He laughed at your antics as you sprinted to the kitchen.
----------
When the cookies were done he helped you put them over a grid to cool down. You pulled out a pretty paper box and covered the bottom with a cute paper towel.
Hong extended his hand to grab a cookie but you were faster, grabbing his wrist
"Babe, these are not for you" You said while trying to contain your smile
"What!? Are you kidding me, sweetie?" He said incredulous
"These," You began sorting them out while checking if any of them were damaged "are for Shinwon! You bragged so much about my cookies that he asked a box of them for his birthday!" You said with enthusiasm even though your boyfriend glared at you.
"Really? Shinwon? Can't believe my baby tricked me into baking cookies for Shinwon" he said sulking
"Oh come on Hong! We made them together! I bet they taste amazing with all the love we poured into it!"
"Whatever... You're lucky I love you. Tricking me like this..."
"Let me make it up to you" You said wrapping your arms around his waist, which he quickly reciprocated by wrapping his own arms around your shoulders.
"Yeah? What will you do about it?" he said smirking, which received a light smack from you
"You dirty. Let me cook for you. Dinner's on me tonight"
"Ok sweetie, I'll be expecting a full-course meal! And cookies"
"Don't worry my sweet cookie monster, It'll be the best you've ever had!"
And even though you promised to make dinner, as the sweet gentleman he is, helped you prepare the food. Indeed the best thing that ever happened to you was Hongseok.
Extra: Shinwon liked the cookies so much that he talked about them for a whole two weeks, making all the Pentagon members crave them. All of them asked you to bake them some cookies (without Hongseok knowing since he would steal them), and even Yanan made you promise to bake him some when he came back to Korea

last date before wedding with ptg
warning(s): food and wine mentions
↳ jinho: helping him with a cover of a song for youtube and it’d be a pretty romantic song maybe ed sheeran thinking out loud or john legend or maybe something else like eyes, nose, lips and you wouldn’t realize that he got you singing. i don't think he'd post it and just want to save it for the two of you to rewatch. it wouldn’t matter to him if you were an amazing singer or not, just being able to share that moment with you would be enough for him. so, it would probably become a tradition where you'd rewatch the cover for every wedding anniversary, and maybe you would cover more songs together each time as a little segment on his youtube channel and the members would text him and tease him about it every time lol
↳ hui: i get the feeling that he would bring you to a really nice yet underrated restaurant where smooth jazz is played and people are allowed to go onstage and perform a song. both of you would have the biggest smiles on your faces because the date would be reminiscent of your first one. you'd end the date off with really good wine and of course, hui would go onstage and sing (he'd claim it as practice for your big day) and would leave the audience stunned by his amazing vocals. on the drive home, his hand would never leave yours and he'd probably fidget with your engagement ring with a huge smile on his face.
↳ hongseok: your "date" would be so sweet and domestic because hongseok just gives me homey vibes. like, you'd both go to the grocery store to get ingredients for dinner and a dessert you both like. idk it would be the cutest thing and then you'd head back home and he'd start cooking while you worked on the dessert and you'd definitely catch him staring at you every few minutes with a goofy smile on his face and he'd wiggle his eyebrows playfully. you'd step away for a second to back-hug him and hongseok would smile to himself before he'd turn around to kiss you and he'd pull away to say something really cheesy but it would still put a smile on your face.
↳ yeo one: i think changgu would plan the cutest little picnic in the park for both of you. he'd pack some of your favorite foods and snacks and would even get you flowers or something. it would be the cutest thing and he'd take a flower and put it behind your ear and you'd do the same to him and then you'd go back and forth about who's the prettiest lol then the two of you would lie down and cloud gaze. idk i can see a really adorable dog running over to the two of you and it would really like changgu and it would be such a cute moment that would lead you to discuss the possibility of adopting a dog after the wedding. once the sun would start to settle below the horizon, you'd head home and would probably spend the rest of the day watching a show or movie.
↳ shinwon: both of you would agree on going to a spa and maybe a little shopping. i could definitely see him goofing around with you while in the sauna by making weird faces and telling you funny stories. then, he'd have you rest your head on his shoulder and he'd smile to himself. then, he'd tell you about how he was so nervous to propose to you. after a few minutes he'd realize that you weren't talking only to find you asleep. so, he'd make sure that you would be comfortable and would relax too. i think he'd love to spoil his s/o so he'd really enjoy going to the spa with you and it'd be a nice break from all of the wedding prep. on the way home, you'd both decide on ordering in bc neither of you would want to cook after being at the spa.
↳ yanan: he'd wake up extra early to get your favorite breakfast foods and coffee. when he'd make it back to your apartment he'd be met with you half asleep on the couch and would quickly put everything down to cuddle with you for a few minutes and then you'd eat breakfast together. afterward, the two of you would get ready to go and yanan wouldn't tell you but it would all make sense later. so, the two of you would go to multiple places throughout the city and you were thankful that they wouldn't be too far and at each stop, you and yanan would talk about what happened at each, like, one place was where he took you for your first date and another would be where you both said you loved each other for the first time. looking back on all of the memories would make both of your hearts feel so full.
↳ yuto: i think you'd go to an aquarium or botanical garden and it would be on a day when it wouldn't be so busy and the two of you could goof around and take funny pictures of each other imitating the animals. throughout the date, you'd both feel like little kids on a field trip again. both of you would stop every few minutes to stare at something you'd find interesting and the look on your faces at that moment would be so adorable and you'd have to capture the moments. after that, you would go get something to eat and then walk back to your apartment. on the walk, you'd both reminisce about how you met, your first date, and how he proposed to you.
↳ kino: i feel like hyunggu would go all out but it would still be a pretty laid-back date idk if that makes sense but he'd sign you up for a couples' dancing class where you'd learn how to tango and it would be so romantic and fun, even if you're not much of a dancer. after that, you'd go back home to shower and then he'd take you out to a really nice restaurant for dinner. the two of you would be so impressed with your meals but the highlight of your would be getting ice cream or your favorite dessert from your favorite place but then on your way back home it'd start raining and you'd have to wait it out inside a nearby cafe with steaming cups of tea. the whole situation would be pretty funny to both of you and it'd make for a nice moment to look back on.
↳ wooseok: being the youngest, i don't think he'd plan everything out and would just go with the flow. so, i think wooseok would also enjoy a night in with you as your date, especially if it would be a rainy day. he'd go and get your favorite snacks and drinks the day before and would surprise you with everything. the two of you would spend the day watching movies, playing video games, and just enjoying the calm before your wedding day. somehow, you'd end up talking about some of your embarrassing moments early on in your relationship and neither of you would be able to stop laughing and maybe you'd each go through your camera roll and it'd be a really cute moment for both of you.

Summary: While it isn’t the first time you’ve made dinner for all of your boyfriend’s members. It’s the first Christmas dinner Changgu and you have made for them in your new house.
Oneshot
Fluff, Established Relationship au
Word Count: 4,289
Changgu (Yeo One) X Reader
[Features! The rest of OT9]
Requested: not to be that person who requests twice (pls feel free to prioritize other requests!!) but maybe 6. for Changgu? 👀 You know, in celebration of someone becoming someone's ult 👀
Prompt: 6. Cooking Christmas dinner together for your friends
[A.n: Pls don’t worry about requesting 2x- I love double/multiple requests~ And also I just do the request in the order I get them unless I have to skip to not have the same member in a row. I’d say I don’t know how this fic got to 4k but uh see above point ^ (I named it dishwasher and hopefully you’ll understand the significance)]
------
It was finally your turn to make Christmas dinner for your big friend group, “You sure this is going to feed eight other people?” He nods, “Yeah, I’m sure. If not, there is always the restaurant down the road.” “Ggu!” He laughs, “I’m just teasing, I promise. We got this!” You shake your head, “I know. I guess I’m just a little worried.” He grabs your hand, “It’s going to be okay. I promise. We make a great team. Our food will be even better.” You search his eyes, and he squeezes your hand, and all you find is reassurance. You interlock your fingers, “Okay.” He nods and pulls your hand to push the cart with his to the checkout lanes. You finish up and shove the groceries in his car. You return the cart and see him waiting for you to get in. He opens the door from the inside, the heat pouring out from the vents, and you hop in.
“We’ll let the ham defrost overnight in cold water, and then we’ll be all set.” He agrees as you both put the groceries away. He finds the pre-packaged cookies and goes, “Want one?” You ask, “Shouldn’t we wait for our guests?” He shrugs as you come over, waiting for him to open the box. “Maybe.” You both grab one and eat it, “Yeah, this is way easier than making them.” You both resist eating another to save them for tomorrow's guests. You set them on a platter and the cake you bought onto a cake stand.
------
You wake up to Changgu ruffling the covers to get out of bed. You look at him with half-opened eyes, “Is it time?” You watch him shake his head no. He comes over, kisses your forehead, and tells you, “I was just going to make us some coffee before we started cooking.” You hum, opening your eyes, “Let’s do that together.” He smiles as he waits for you to roll out of bed. You slip on your slippers, and with a yawn, you follow him into the kitchen. He fills a kettle with water before putting it on the burner and turning it on. You grab your mugs and set them on the counter, and he finishes making the coffee. You lean against the counter, still trying to wake up as you sip your first bit of coffee, “Warm…” He hums before he takes a sip of his and shares the same sentiment.
You start, “So, the ham.” You both look over at it, hoping it’d grow legs dress itself for the occasion and throw itself into the oven. He laughs before you both sigh, “Shinwon was not kidding when he said, ‘Good luck next year’. After they both made that dinner…” You shake your head and agree, “This is going to be a lot of work…” After setting your coffee down on the counter, you look for a piece of paper and a pen. “How do we want to go about this?” “Well, we cleaned the roasting pan two days ago, so all we have to do is line it with foil.” You write: ‘Foil the pan, make sure the ham is defrosted. Bag the ham, and then dress it with pineapples and cherries.’ You ask, “Did we get 7up?” He nods, “Yeah, I put it in the cart last minute. We almost forgot it.” You sigh in relief as you write the 7up part and add brown sugar to the list of things going on with the ham.
You list the things you bought, and he goes, “Peel and chop the potatoes?” you write that down, “Are we making sweet potatoes?” He nods, and you take another sip of coffee before writing that. “Corn, green beans?” Changgu softly reminds you about the ‘peas’. And you finish that bit, “Oh, bread, which kind?” He goes, “Biscuits and croissants?” “Perfect.” “Am I missing anything else?” You both think for a minute before you go, “Oh, cranberry sauce, the most important part!” He laughs, “For you, dear.” You roll your eyes, “You love it just as much as me.” He shakes his head, “No, not as much as I love you.” You roll your eyes, “I love you more than I love cranberry sauce.” He gasps, “I’m honored.” You shake your head as you smile at him.
You finish your coffee while looking out at the snow. Watching it gently coming down. “I’m glad this time it’s not a snowstorm.” He laughs, “It was a nightmare getting to Hongseok’s house that year!” You laugh even harder, “We don’t even live more than a street away from him!” You two cackle before catching your breath. He adds, “At least we have snow this year, though!” You shake your head, “We even have photos of Hoetaek pouting about it!” You both giggle before catching your breath. You put your two mugs in your new dishwasher. You grin, “I can’t wait for this thing to have its first big holiday.” He smiles in excitement, “It’s going to do the work of ten men!” You both laugh before washing your hands away from the ham and start working on preparing it.
Thankfully, it thawed, and everything went swimmingly even putting the brown sugar and 7up on it was easy. You open the pineapples as Changgu digs for the toothpicks, “Didn’t we buy a pack?” “Yeah, I think they’re up in the cabinet by the other knife set we don’t use.” He hums and says a little ‘aha!’ when he finds them there. You separate the pineapples from the ones you’re using for the ham and the two for the two of you. After you finish sticking the pineapples in with toothpicks, he sticks the cherries in the center. When he pins the last one, and you both have washed your hands and put the ham into the oven, “One pineapple for you, one for me?”
He pulls out a maraschino cherry for both of you to eat, and you happily eat the unused toppings before cleaning your hands again. You sigh, “Those were so good.” He agrees, hands you a towel to dry your hands with, and says, “What’s next?” You look back at the list and go, “The potatoes.” He nods and gets them out, and you ask, “How many potatoes do you think Shinwon can eat alone?” He laughs, “Probably the whole bag.” You shrug, “Guess that’s how much we’re doing so everyone can have at least a bite.” He agrees, and you get out your peeler and the chopping board while he fills a bowl with water.
You shave them as he patiently waits to chop them up. He cuts the last potatoes up and puts them back in the bowl. You drain them and transfer half to a pot of water. As you do, he says, “I’ll start shaving the sweet potatoes.” You agree and put the soup mix into the cleaned bowl before pouring the other half of the potatoes in and combining them. You flip them onto a foiled pan and wash off your hands. You come back over to see him sharpening a knife, “Having a hard time with the sweet potatoes?” He nods, and you smile, “It’s more about the pressure and force than the sharpness.” He hums, “But it’d help.” He cleans it off before he returns with more vigor to chop them into small pieces.
He lets out a yell as he smacks it, and you giggle as you watch him, “You want me to do it?” He pouts, “But I have more muscle than you. This should be easy…” You smile as you tell him, “Watch this.” You scoot him away, and with the knife still lodged into the sweet potato, you lift it and slam it back onto the board. And it separates into two, “Didn’t you ever watch your mom make them?” He shakes his head, “No, she always makes the ones you just gotta poke and put in the oven with foil on them.” You nod, “Those are so good! Do you want to save two so we can have that tomorrow?” He grins, “Oh heck yeah!” He saves two and puts them in the pantry while you finish chopping up the first one. He gets the hang of it on the second one, “Isn’t there a less noisy way?” You shake your head, “Not that I’ve ever figured out.” He shrugs and continues while you make the brown sugar mix for them, “I’m excited for these.” He hums, “Me too.”
You do the same with sweet potatoes, draining them before mixing them and putting them onto another foiled pan. You set them out and clean off your hands. As you dry off your hands, Changgu checks the oven, “Ohh, look!” You look, “Still there.” He shakes his head, “No, it’s starting to look more cooked.” You laugh, “I know.” You pull back, and he says, “And we still have three hours and twenty minutes to get it all done. I say that calls for a break.” You agree, and you both head into the living room and kick back on the couch together. “What kind of Christmas special do you wanna watch?” You hum, “What about a hallmark movie?” He wrinkles his nose and shakes his head, “Preferably something that doesn’t make me cry today.” You nod, “Okay, the Charlie Brown special before we head back and make the rest?” He agrees, and you put your legs over his lap while he puts his legs on the ottoman. He puts his arm around your back, and you watch the Peanuts.
When the movie ends, you both get changed into your dinner clothes before heading into the kitchen. You look at the list when it hits you, “Oh, we almost forgot to add a butter stick tray for everyone!” He nods, quickly pulls out the butter, and puts it on the designated dish. “Done and done!” You grin and grab the canned corn, peas, and green beans. You open them up while he gets the pots out. You fill all three up as he works on making two foiled pans for biscuits and croissants. You both work on rolling up the crescent and making them nicely shaped before putting the other premade biscuits onto a pan to bake. “Do you want to open the cranberry sauce now or later?” He hums, “Probably later, so it stays cooler.” You agree and look over at the timer on the ham, “Two hours and fifteen minutes…” He sighs, “Looks like it’s making the table time.”
You nod and stand on either side of your small kitchen table, “On the count of three, I’ll pull my end. You’ll pull yours.” You nod, and he counts, “Okay, and one, two, three!” You both pull out the table to make it longer to fit ten people. After pulling it out, you huff, “I’m glad our table expands twice.” He sighs, “Me too.” You pick up one side of the leaf while he picks up the other before setting it in and doing the same with the next.
When it’s all clicked in and properly fitted, he goes, “Alright, tablecloth next?” You nod, and he gets it from the cabinet, “The pretty green one?” He nods and pulls the one that has mistletoe berries lining the edges. You both cover the table before getting the dishes out. You hand them over to him, and he sets them out while you grab the knives, “Do the knives go on the right side or the left?” He goes, “Wherever you want them.” You laugh as you put it on the left side before lining the left with other utensils. He asks, “Napkin towels and paper ones?” You agree, and he gets out two napkin holders and puts one on each side. You fill them with paper napkins while he gets the towels and puts them in front of the plates.
“If we don’t get the 1865 wine out, Hyunggu will be whiny.” You laugh, “I don’t think he’ll whine, but he will pout.” He laughs as he agrees, and you open a bottle for him, letting it aerate, “What do you say after thirty minutes,... We have our glass?” He smiles, “I’d like that.” You nod, and you get an assortment of glasses for each person. You finish up before looking over the table. You feel him come over beside you and wrap his arm around your waist, “Look at us. We’re doing a nice job so far.” You look at him and say, “Don’t jinx it.” He laughs, “Not intending to!” He knocks on the table regardless as you both lean against each other. “But you’re right, it looks nice.”
You smile and wrap your arm around his waist, “Who do you think will arrive first?” He hums, “Probably Hoetaek and whoever he’s bringing, he got that whole integrity saying about five minutes early is on time.” You laugh as you agree, “And who’s last?” He hums, “It’s a tie, depending on who’s driving.” You wait for him to continue, and he says, “If Wooseok is driving, they’re going to be like ten minutes late, but if it’s anyone else, I’d say they’d be right about time.” “Why’s that?” “Wooseok is very careful.”
You laugh, “I believe it. But you're the only one I trust to drive me around whenever I don't want to drive.” “Baby, you’re so cute.” You laugh, “I’m telling the truth. I get to be the relaxed passenger. And I don’t even have to be the GPS. Cause you know where you’re going.” He laughs, “Yeah, I like having you as my passenger. You make all of my worries go away. Not even someone who drives fifteen under can make me mad with you by my side.” “Are you sure? Following that tractor for like two miles about killed you.” He groans, “Don't Remind me.” And you move from your relaxed position, getting close to his lips, “Don’t worry, it irritated me too.” You pull him in for a kiss, and when you pull away, you ask, “Better?” He sighs, “Always.”
The ham comes out about an hour later, and you pop the beefy onion and sweet potatoes into the oven. And turn the flame under the potatoes on the stove on as the doorbell rings, “I got it, baby.” You nod, and he kisses your cheek before heading over. And as he had predicted, Hoetaek was five minutes early with Shinwon and Jinho. Jinho asks, “What’s cooking?” You smile, “Potatoes.” You hear a gasp, and Changgu says, “You’ll have to wait until it’s on the table.” You hear the pout in Shinwon’s voice as he says, “Okay…” The four of you laugh as he answers. Changgu comes over and joins you. You turn the burners underneath the canned veggie pots on while he cuts open the bag. Hoetaek asks, “Do you guys want any help? Or?” You look at Changgu and shake your head, “No, we got it here.” The doorbell rings, “However, if you could get that.” He smiles, “Sure.”
You hear four more voices and shoes hitting the floor as you stir the potatoes around. You both turn and look as they come to the table and find their spots. Changgu asks, “Where’s Wooseok?” Yanan goes, “He was asleep last time I checked.” And before you can look at Changgu like, ‘Do we need to get him?’ the doorbell rings. You both sigh in relief as Yuto gets the door, “Sorry, I wanted five more minutes of rest!” Hoetaek chides, “You need to leave your studio sooner so you can be on time!” He whines, and you don’t hear the rest as the potatoes boil. And you mash them with butter and milk.
You put them into a serving bowl as Changgu transfers the ham onto a platter before bringing it to the table. He brings everything to the table as you pour them into bowls and place serving spoons in each. The bell rings again, and you both pull out the pans of potatoes and place them onto platters before he sets them down in front of them. You open a can of cranberry sauce before bringing that over, too.
Changgu puts the bread into the oven before you both sit down. He sits in front of the ham, and you sit beside him as he looks at everyone. He cheers, “Alright, who’s ready to eat?” You all cheer back, “I am!” And he happily serves it to everyone, ensuring everyone has a big piece before serving his last. “Let’s dig in!” Before you can get up, he goes, “I got it, honey.” You smile, and he gets up, turns off the oven, and puts the freshly done bread into two separate baskets. He returns, “Croissants on which side?” Hyunggu and Hongseok cheer for them the loudest, and he places them down in front of them while your side gets the biscuits.
With all the food out, the conversations only get louder, especially, with Changgu turning on the Bluetooth speakers to play soft Christmas music to set the mood. You gasp, “No way!” as Hyunggu talks about the Christmas play he saw, “Yeah, way! The lights started shining and out popped another new Santa Claus. This musical just kept getting more hysterical as they did it!” You all laugh at Hyunggu's stories, and Yanan talks about the Christmas lights he went and visited. Wooseok goes, “Do you guys remember when we performed in Daegu?” They all hum, and you nod, having seen their performances rather than being there, “It was so cold, but it was perfect like tonight.” You smile and thank him, and everyone agrees.
As everyone finishes their last plate, everyone talks about the plans they’ve made and gifts they’ve gotten for their families. And when there’s a lull of silence, you ask, “Who’s ready for dessert?” They all cheer, “I am!” And you happily get up, grabbing the platter of cookies, and Changgu comes in, getting the cake from the fridge. As you come back, Yuto asks, “What kind?” You smile, “We got a big assortment of cookies, including chocolate chip, plus chocolate cake!” You hear Changgu rustle in the fridge as he yells, “Oh, don’t forget the fruitcake!” And everyone lets out, “Really!?” And he turns around with the cake stand and goes, “Nah, just kidding.” You both laugh as you gesture for them to follow you, “Let’s have dessert in the living room.”
Everyone follows the two of you, pushing in their chairs as they sprawl out onto the couches and chairs. You set the platter of cookies down and head back and get everyone some napkins and plates. Everyone picks out their favorite cookies and serves themselves a piece of cake. And you sit on the arm of the couch and lean against Changgu, who is happily chatting about his recent concert, “I know, I was there!” You laugh, “Hey, but we weren’t!” Yanan protests softly, and you encourage him to go on, which he happily does and would have, anyway. You finish your slice of cake and set your empty plate on the side table beside you, which leads to everyone putting their plate on top of yours.
Hongseok goes, “We can help you clean up if you like.” You both shake your head, “No, you’re our guests tonight.” They nod, and you continue, “We just got a new dishwasher, so we want to make the most of it.” They all laugh, and Hongseok tells you, “That makes sense.” Changgu goes, “Do we look like new dishwasher owners?” He nods, “Yeah.” You laugh, “I guess we have it stamped on our foreheads.” “Yeah, basically.” And Yanan goes, “Yeah, you wouldn’t believe how excited he was about buying your first appliance together.” You laugh, “Really?” You watch as Changgu’s cheeks turn more and more red, “Yeah, he called all of us up telling us all about it.” You grin and tell them, “I told all my friends, too.” You look over at Changgu with a big smile, “We’re all getting old.” He grins and grabs your hand, “You age like fine wine.” You roll your eyes before pulling his hand up and kissing it. You smile at him, “So do you.”
As the night becomes darker and the time grows later, you let out a yawn. And so does Changgu, which makes Hui look at his clock, “I’d hate to be making us leave first, but I have a schedule in the morning.” You all whine, “The day after Christmas?” He shrugs, “Well, I’m preparing for my album...” You nod, and Shinwon and Jinho get up, too. You follow them to the door as they gather their things. Jinho is the first to thank you both for the meal. And you tell him it was fun having him and the rest of the members over. Changgu opens his arms, which Jinho reluctantly accepts before accepting your hug too.
Shinwon follows, hugging you both and telling you, “See, I told you it wasn’t going to be too hard.” You both roll your eyes at him, and Changgu tells him, “Yeah, you were right, but I’m glad it’s Yanan’s turn next year.” Shinwon laughs, “I was glad to pass the torch on to you guys.” You shake your head, “Take care of yourself.” He nods, “I will.” Hoetaek grabs one of your hands and one of Changgu’s. “You guys did so wonderfully. It was such a good dinner.” You grin and thank him, and he says, “No, seriously, you guys did an excellent job.” He brings you both in for a hug at the same time. He lets go of your hands before telling you guys to take care. You bid the three of them goodbye and wish them a Merry Christmas before watching them leave.
You return to the living room, where Yuto talks about his latest solo projects. And you all listen intently, as he does as it grows later. Hongseok gathers him, Yanan, and Hyunggu. Hongseok gingerly tells you both goodbye, giving you both a strong hug after telling you what he liked most. Hyunggu smiles as he puts his hat back on, “I didn’t expect any less from you guys. It was excellent.” You nod, and he hugs you both, and you can’t help but grin. Yanan thanks you both for the delicious dinner, pulling his scarf tighter around his neck before squeezing the both of you into a hug. And Yuto smiles, “Thanks guys, that was a wonderful meal and dessert.” You smile, “It’s no problem.” He hugs you both before exiting and following the three out the door. You both realize you forgot to wish them a Merry Christmas, so you both shout it as they enter the vehicle. And they shout it right back. You both laugh as you shut the door.
You watch them drive off before settling across from the last guest. “Wooseok!” He smiles, “I know you both probably want your alone time now.” You look over at Changgu and shrug. You tell him, “We could always watch a Christmas special or something with you.” And Changgu continues, “You couldn’t bother us with your presence.” Wooseok smiles before looking at the clock, “I know, but I can always come over later in the week.” You both agree, and he gets up, “I just wanted to say goodbye last.” You laugh at that, and you all head to the door for the last time. You go, “I can’t believe they let you drive all by yourself! You best be careful!” He laughs, “I will, don’t worry.” You both nod and hug him before he leaves. He thanks you both for the delicious meal and says, “Merry Christmas.” And you both repeat it back, “Merry Christmas.”
He exits out into the cold air. You watch him take off and leave your window. Just to turn back and see that you’re left with a mess of things to clean up. You sigh, “Glad we have that new dishwasher…” He smiles, “Did you really tell all of your friends?” You smile as you nod, and he kisses your forehead before you kiss his. He looks back at the mess ahead of him and shakes his head, “We’ll still have to clean up the rest of it, though.” You sigh even louder, “We got a lot to do.” You look around at the mess for a while longer, “You want to leave it for later?” He sighs in relief, “Oh yeah, let’s get cleaned up and go to bed.” You smile, and you both head up to the bathroom and change into your pajamas.
After you return from the bathroom, you both collapse in your bed, “We’ll do the dishes tomorrow.” He laughs and pulls you into his arms, “Yeah, tomorrow.” You curl into his chest, “We did a good job.” “Yeah.” “I’m glad it’s over.” He hums, “Me too. Good luck to Yanan next year.” You laugh, “Yeah, good luck, Yanan.” You pull the covers over the both of you, “I love you. Good night.” “Good night, I love you more.” “Ggu…” He pouts, and you go, “I love you most.” He giggles as he says, “I love you mostest.” You roll your eyes, “I love you the most mostest.” “Nuh-uh.” “Yeah-huh.” “Nuh-uh.” “Yeah-huh. Good night, Ggu.” “Nuh-uh, I love you even more. Good night, my love.” You groan and whisper, “I love you even more than that.” Before drifting off to sleep, he says softly before falling asleep, “I love you two round trips to the moon and back, baby.”

shinwon x reader
Tags: light angst, hurt/comfort, g/n reader who gets periods, established relationship, domestic fluff; Warnings: mentions of periods; SFW
word count: ~1,1k
summary: you feel like a giant nuisance after ruining your boyfriend's sheets but he's there to reassure you
a/n: did I really write a drabble about accidentally bleeding onto your bfs sheets? maybe so🤷🏻♀️
I will not lie this is inspired by a very specific vlive of his (06042021) and also by having periods i guess
Masterlist
Shinwon and you hadn’t been dating for long yet, just a few weeks. You hadn’t stayed over often either, it was probably the third or fourth time that you woke up in his bed, his limbs loosely thrown over your body.
It was comfortable though, you liked the way he was so casually affectionate with you. But something still felt a little off and you soon had an inkling what it was.
Shinwon was still asleep, groaning unhappily when you peeled yourself out of his hold, but not waking up.
You sneaked into his bathroom where your inkling proved true. You’d gotten your period. Since it hadn’t been supposed to come until next week you hadn’t been prepared at all, leaving your pants in an utter mess.
It was a pity since you weren’t sure if it would wash out. But what was even worse— if your pants looked like this, what did Shinwon’s sheets look like?
You tiptoed back into the bedroom and carefully lifted the blanket to check.
To your dismay there was a bright red spot on his otherwise snow white sheets. There was no way you could get rid of this without waking him up.
Obviously there shouldn’t be anything shameful about getting your period and things like this too could happen. But you still felt embarrassed and terribly guilty for ruining his sheets. Since things were so new between the two of you, the topic of periods hadn’t really come up yet either so you weren’t sure how comfortable he was with all of that.
While you just stared at the spot in helpless panic, Shinwon blinked his eyes open.
“What’s wrong?” He asked, his voice drowsy from sleeping.
“Uhm,” you started but the moment you did you already felt tears well up in your eyes.
Shinwon was fully awake then, sitting up with a worried frown on his face. “What’s wrong?” He asked again, a little more firmly this time.
Unable to find a proper answer you just motioned at the spot on his sheets. “I’m really sorry.”
He followed your gesture with his eyes and then looked back up at you, a little confused. “Are you okay? What happened?”
“I got my period,” you pressed out.
A small smile appeared on his face. “So it’s just that?”
You nodded. “I'm sorry."
"It's okay."
"I’ll wash your sheets!”
“No, no, don’t worry, I’ll take care of it. My washing machine tends to be very moody, you know. She doesn’t take to strangers well.” He grinned and it made his dimple show. “Anything else that needs to be washed?”
“My pants... but I can just wash them at home!”
“Y/n, if I’m already doing laundry anyway I might as well just wash them too.”
“Are you sure?”
“You know me." Shinwon winked playfully. "I don’t tell lies.”
You nodded hesitantly, your fingers nervously fumbling with the hem of your shirt. “Okay. I’m sorry.”
“Don't be sorry. Thank you is just fine.”
“Sorry. Thank you.”
He smiled. “That’s better.”
With a cheerful hum Shinwon got himself out of bed and handed you a fresh pair of sweatpants to change into. You didn’t want to take them, afraid to accidentally ruin them too but he insisted and since you’d stayed over rather spontaneously it wasn’t like you had a bunch of other options.
So, after asking at least two or three times if he was really sure, you took the pants from him, washed up and changed, while he stripped the bed sheets.
After a while he carefully knocked on the bathroom door, asking for the pants which you handed to him, not without a good amount of embarrassment.
Despite his reassurance and the way he treated all of this so casually, you felt terribly guilty.
In order to make up for it you decided to start making breakfast for the both of you while he was still busy with the laundry.
Sadly you didn’t get far with your preparation because the moment you tried to take out two glasses from the cupboard your hand slipped. With a loud clash one of the glasses hit the kitchen floor, breaking into pieces that scattered on the tiles.
For a long second you just stared at the glistening shards on the floor. As if you hadn’t already caused enough trouble. Not only did you ruin his sheets, now you broke one of his glasses too.
You knew you had to at least clean up behind you, but the moment you crouched down, you just couldn’t hold back your tears anymore. You felt like the biggest nuisance. How could Shinwon want to be with you after this, how could he not be annoyed with you?
Your vision blurry with tears you reached out to pick up the shards closest to your bare feet.
“Are you okay?” Shinwon’s rushed voice suddenly caught your attention. When you looked up to see him standing in the doorway, a worried frown on his face you couldn’t help the sob that escaped your throat.
When you didn’t reply his voice grew a little softer. “What are you doing?”
“I’m sorry,” you croaked out.
“It’s okay. Are you hurt?”
You shook your head, before going back to the shards in front of you, your vision still blurry.
“I’m really sorry.”
“Y/n, don’t worry. It was an accident, you don’t have to apologize.”
“But I broke your glass.” Another sob slipped past your lips. “I’m such a nuisance, I’m so sorry.”
Shinwon stepped closer then, crouching down in front of you. “Y/n, why do you keep apologizing? It’s okay.” He almost sounded pouty.
“But—”
Shinwon shook his head. “Mmh-mh, no buts,” he scolded but there was no bite to it. Instead he looked at you with a small smile. “It’s fine already. No more saying sorry, okay?”
“But—,” you started again.
“Come on, I said it’s fine. No more buts.”
“I just—” You still fumbled with the shards in your hands, wincing when you accidentally pressed down a little too hard on the sharp edges.
“Y/n,” he gently took your hands and pried them open, making you drop the little glass pieces. “I promise it’s not that bad. I’m not angry. You don’t have to be sorry. Just let me take care of this, okay?”
You reluctantly nodded and let him sit you on the kitchen counter, while he got out a dustpan and brush and quickly got rid of the mess you’d made on his kitchen floor.
You watched in silence, only interrupted from time to time by a small sniff.
After he was done, he turned around to you with a wide smile. “See? Already taken care of.”

A few metres away stood Ko Shinwon, your least favourite person.
Your closest friends surrounded him, a flirtatious aura wafting into the atmosphere. He was basking beneath their lovestruck gazes, evidently enjoying the attention thoroughly.
Once again, you were left on the outside.
You had never understood why everyone flocked to him as they did. In the few interactions you had had with him, he had been quite irritating.
Shinwon was mildly entertaining, but whatever humour he had was thwarted by that stupidly wide grin he always wore. In addition, he seemed to enjoy messing with you, kicking the backs of your shoes and then raising his eyebrows innocently when you turned to glare at him.
And this - stealing your friends. You knew in a few moments he would leave, and you would hear it all again.
You breathed a sigh as Shinwon passed you by before leaving, flashing you a mischievous smirk. It was as if he were wordlessly telling you, “what are you going to do about it? Your friends love me.”
As your friends fawned over him now that he was gone, you tried to tune it out, but chunks of it bled through.
“He’s so different to the other guys, so much softer and funnier.”
“And he’s so handsome, too.”
And you simply could not comprehend it. Of course, it was not as if Shinwon was unattractive…but that was not the first thought that came to your mind when you looked at him.
“I’m gonna go to the bathroom,” you mumbled, going both unheard and unnoticed as you slipped away to ease the irritation tight in your chest. You had barely taken a few paces through the university hallways before you were interrupted.
“I piss you off, don’t I?”
Shinwon was trailing behind you, once more wearing that wide grin and running his hands through his curls of chocolate hair, both actions that made you endlessly hot with emotion.
“Yes,” you answered honestly, “you do.”
“That annoyed expression you make is so cute, though. I can’t help it,” Shinwon teased.
Your cheeks flushed with a combination of anger and embarrassment, and you retorted with a rush of adrenaline, “well, don’t look at me then. Stick to flirting with all my closest friends.”
Shinwon took a lengthy stride with his impossibly long legs, blocking your path.
“You annoy me too, you know,” he began, ducking his head slightly to force you to meet him in the eyes, “would you like to know why?”
A small, genuine smile graced his lips, one that made your heart flutter, much to your mingled confusion and annoyance.
“I would not,” you huffed curtly, stepping around him.
“You’ll find out eventually!” He called as you stalked away from him, heading directly to the bathroom because now you really did need some space, your steps long and hurried.
Upon reaching the bathroom, you stared back at your flushed, pink face. You splashed cold water against your skin, taking slow breaths to soothe your racing heart. Shinwon always made you like this, irrational and flustered.
Why did he continue to pursue you like this, even as you had made your dislike of him evident?
Why was he so persistent for you and you only?
That evening after your classes concluded for the day, you found yourself waiting for your friends in a McDonald’s. Their classes finished half an hour after yours, and so you chose a booth and ordered a drink in waiting.
As you sat alone, contentedly sipping on an iced coffee Frappe, someone joined you, sliding a tray of food across the table.
You looked up to see Shinwon.
“Oh, fuck,” you muttered under your breath, asking bitterly, “why are you here?”
“Your friends invited me, but I guess it’s just you and I for a bit.”
You huffed, taking a long sip of your cold drink and tasting a hint of whipped cream. Shinwon simply observed you, leaning on his palm and watching you. You tried to avoid his interest for as long as possible until it became uncomfortable.
“You’re not going to leave?” He asked, finally breaking the elongated silence that stretched between you both.
“No,” you answered, “they’re my friends. Which one of them invited you?”
“Does it matter?”
No, it did not matter, really. You would not be surprised if all of them invited him.
“Want some?”
You looked up upon hearing his inquiry to find him offering you his fries, a smile on his features. You stared back at him dubiously, raising an eyebrow.
Shinwon beamed at you, “come on! Have some.”
Your skin burned beneath his abrupt kindness. You stole a few fries, expecting something, a retaliation of sorts. For him to tease you or tell you that you owed him, but instead, he just wordlessly left the bright red container filled with chips angled towards you.
Shinwon only gave you brief attention as you neatly licked the remnants of salt and oil off of your fingers, your core twinging in excitement as he watched you closely with those dark, pretty eyes of his.
But then he returned his interest to his phone, leaving you in silence for the remainder of the half-hour. It was a strangely relaxed silence, free of tension. You refused to admit the obvious fact that you were enjoying his presence.
Eventually, your group of friends joined you. Chorong sat beside Shinwon closely, her shoulder brushing against his.
Throughout the hangout, you could not keep your interest off of Chorong and Shinwon. She consistently flirted with him, laughing and smiling and making skin contact with him at every opportunity.
You could feel fury bubbling up in the pit of your chest. It rose from your neck, warming your ears, and yet it was not just anger; it was another emotion that you could not place. Something new and uneasy.
And yet the entire time, Shinwon kept his gaze trained on you, even when it became noticeable from outside perspectives. The combination of those two things made you feel messy and dizzied from your heat.
“I-I’m gonna go,” you announced abruptly, standing and gathering attention. You were tired of feeling ostracised from your own friend group. To be blunt, fucking tired of watching your friends flirt with Ko Shinwon.
“Ah, wait, (F/n)!”
You turned on your heel as you had begun to leave, your brows furrowed in disbelief to see Shinwon was standing as well.
Why was he acting so strangely tonight?
“Let me walk you home, at least,” Shinwon offered kindly, a genuine smile on his lips.
“It’s fine,” you mumbled, feeling suddenly shy, “it’s not far.” But despite your protests, Shinwon pushed past Chorong and followed you.
You could not say much as you both walked beneath the navy blue night sky, with him close at your heels. You felt a lump form in your throat as you recounted his unsubtle gesture from moments ago. Finally, you had to ask him.
“Why are you being so nice to me all of a sudden?”
“Because you looked so upset that you were on the brink of crying,” he responded, his voice so soft that it barely travelled to your ears. You were taken aback - you had hardly noticed it yourself.
“And also, you looked lonely.”
This comment resonated throughout your body, triggering the tears that you had been trying to hold back. You quickly wiped them away, hoping that Shinwon had not seen them. Unfortunately for you, he had been staring pointedly at you for the entire walk.
He reached over, and you flinched as he brushed his fingers through your hair, an attempt to comfort you. You blushed and pouted, and he smiled.
“Besides, I was getting tired of Chorong flirting with me,” Shinwon laughed, and you laughed as well, relieved to hear that he was just as sick of it as you were.
You continued to walk, now side by side, layered by a comfortable silence. Eventually, with a twinge of disappointment in your gut, you arrived at your car.
Shinwon bid you goodbye and waved you off. As you drove away and watched him disappear into the darkness, you realised that pleasant feelings of fondness were beginning to wash over you.
The following day, as once again your friends buzzed around Shinwon, you no longer watched with disdain. Rather, you watched him with growing curiosity.
You began to understand him better, now that your hatred had dissipated and your head was clearer. It was not due to some malicious intent of his that all of your friends gravitated towards him.
It was they who approached him, after all, and the moment he talked to them as himself, they fell for him - just as you eventually had as well.
You felt guilty for judging him so harshly, observing him from a distance and chewing your lip anxiously.
Later that evening, as you finished your late class and the university campus began to clear of people, you searched for him with dimmed hope. As you traversed the scattered buildings, you became distracted by the sound of a piano.
It was muffled and barely audible, but you could hear it well enough to follow it. It led you to a closed door with a frosted window.
You peered inside, seeing the barely visible figure of someone sitting at what you could assume was a large black grand piano. As you squinted and pushed yourself further against the door, those thick waves of dark brown hair became vaguely familiar.
“Shinwon?” You gasped softly.
Suddenly, the figure stopped playing and approached the door, cracking it open to reveal Shinwon’s cheeky smile. You stumbled backwards, your cheeks blushing a rosy tint in embarrassment.
“I knew it was you, (F/n),” he laughed, “are you spying on me?”
“I-I didn’t mean to. I just followed the music,” you stammered, pouting beneath his mischievous smirk.
“Do you want to listen?”
You opened and closed your mouth as you studied his invitation, considering it for a moment with growing weakness in your knees.
“Alright…if that’s okay with you,” you finally answered, feeling strangely shy about it.
Shinwon’s smile was warm as he clasped your hand by your hip and interlaced his fingers with yours, and he briefly sunk his teeth into his bottom lip. You were in a silly daze as he led you inside the music room, closing the door behind you.
He stopped in the middle of the room and turned you to face him, and you looked up at him with a baffled expression.
And then you felt it. That electric tension that hung in the air and settled on your skin. You inhaled quietly as Shinwon’s gaze grew serious.
“Shinwon, what is it?” You asked, his hand in your searing all of a sudden.
“Do you know why you irritate me so much, (F/n)?” He inquired softly.
You shrugged, “I wasn’t very polite to you.”
Shinwon laughed in a relaxed manner, but the hot, thick tension in the room was still present.
“Well, I did mess with you a few times, so I deserved it. No, it’s because you’re so pretty.”
You furrowed your brows at him, “how does that make sense, Shinwon-ah? Aren’t you teasing me?”
“I’m serious,” Shinwon mumbled, his gaze dropping to his shoes out of sincerity, “it frustrated me that you wouldn’t even look at me. You smile and laugh for anyone but me, and you’re so beautiful when you do that. It pissed me off.”
On pure impulse, you leaned on the tips of your toes and kissed him.
Shinwon flinched, his free hand instinctively hovering over the small of your back. You pulled away, parting from him with a soft pop, and for a moment, you stared at each other, expressions unmasked and lit up with emotions.
He swallowed, taking a few steady breaths and then cupping the back of your head and kissing you once more, far deeper this time.
Soon you were kissing each other desperately, pent up fervour pouring out into the heated embrace. By the time you stopped, you were both breathless, your lips swollen and glossy.
Shinwon’s hands ran down to your hips and then to the flesh of your ass, squeezing lightly. You gasped, “Sh-Shinwon, not here!”
“We can lock the door,” he hummed, gradually trailing kisses down your cheek, your jaw, nibbling at your earlobe, and you groaned lowly in response.
“Fine,” you relented, and he laughed softly, releasing you and returning to the door to click the lock.
And then Shinwon was back to his previous ministrations, showering your bare neck with butterfly kisses. Next, he slid his palms over your breasts, your hips, back to your ass, gradually pushing you backwards till the grand piano behind you stopped you.
Shinwon reached around and closed the top, lifting you to sit atop it and wrapping your legs around his waist.
You inhaled sharply upon feeling his boner, straining against his jeans and meeting the softness of your inner thigh, “are you…?”
Shinwon’s grin was sheepish, “I couldn’t help it, baby. You were making such cute noises earlier when I was kissing you.”
You hummed, grabbing a fistful of his fluffy hair from the back of his head and drawing his face closer to yours, basking beneath his happily surprised face.
“Well, why don’t you relieve yourself?”
Shinwon growled and kissed you deeply, his tongue tangling with your own, his sweet saliva mingling yours. His hips rolled against you slowly, and you groaned. It was a roughly pleasurable experience, the harsh fabric of his jeans digging into your soft cotton shorts.
“Fuck,” he cursed, rutting against you at an increasingly faster pace until the varnished wooden surface beneath you began to creak.
“Shinwon,” you puffed, applying pressure in return, “I’m gonna cum if you keep doing that.”
“Oh yeah?” Shinwon replied, his breathing laboured, “me too, baby.”
The room was filled with the sound of heavy panting, the sound of you both desperately grinding up against each other, creating a flurry of clothing.
And then his cock forcefully pushed against your clit through layers of clothes, and your orgasm abruptly welled up and burst, wrenched from your possession. You exclaimed uncontrollably, hanging your head back and sobbing out of pleasure.
“Shush,” Shinwon hushed, clasping his large hand over your mouth. Your vision was blurred as you looked up at him, your eyes half-lidded. His irises seemed to darken upon meeting your dazed gaze. Abruptly he squared his jaw, and then released a long, drawn-out groan, rather obviously cumming in his pants.
After your shared orgasms, you stared at each other, affection bleeding onto each of your expressions.
“Shit,” Shinwon cursed, his head dropping to stare at his crotch, chewing his bottom lip, “I made a mess. It’s a good thing I do my own laundry.”
You laughed, turned on simply by the sight of him biting his lip and his long eyelashes hooding his dark eyes, and then by the image that formed in your head of him cleaning his cum-stained boxers.
“I can help you with that,” you drawled, and Shinwon smiled at you crookedly.
“Oh, is that right? Let’s go, then.”
With that, you intertwined your fingers with his and began a slow walk back to his car.
You shared a comfortable, relaxed silence between you as you strolled.
It felt as if you had been a couple for a long time.

Shinwon was the weird kid in your class. He always chewed on his pens and pencils, always fell asleep and never knew what was going on. The students and teachers would pick on him for this reason, but you were intrigued, no, you admired him. He was always staring out the window with a smile, doodling in his notebook and seemed to be in a daze. He was so different from your classmates who were always in a rush to go places and do things.
That's how, despite being so nervous, you were able to approach him in middle school.
"H-hello, Shinwon. I'm [y/n]," you said, standing in front of the boy's desk.
He gave you a knowing smile, telling you he already knew your name.
You looked down, shyly.
"Still, it's nice to talk to you at last," he said, cheering you up.
He watched you fondly as you pulled up a chair so you could talk to him, and talking to him was surprisingly easy. He never let the conversation run dry, always had something to say but never overdid the talking. He made sure you were also talking a fair amount. It wasn't calculated, though, it was extremely natural.
Maybe your feelings towards Shinwon had already started then? You're not sure... but Shinwon definitely knew it then: you wouldn't be an easy person to let go of, if he ever had to.
The two of you became inseparable, spending every moment together and never getting sick of one another. You, having always sat beside Shinwon in class, began mimicking his actions, staring out the window whenever he would, doodling whenever he would.
"[y/n], you know... people might make fun of you if you keep hanging out with me. Although I absolutely don't want you to ever leave my side," Shinwon confided in you one day as the two of you sat over a ledge outside, swinging your legs while eating.
"As if that matters to me!" you scoffed, taking a big bite.
"Plus, no one makes fun of me. And they don't make fun of you, either!" you explained.
Shinwon nodded along, looking up at the blue sky. A few clouds coated its surface, reminding him of the way you were taking over his heart. The blue sky in his own heart was being swallowed by your clouds, but he couldn't be happier. He couldn't wait for the rain..
The two of you finished high school together and stepped into high school still side by side, trying to keep your grades up while also having fun. Lucky for you, the subjects you hated were what Shinwon loved and thrived in, and vice versa for him, so you tutored each other when you could, spending time in libraries, cafés or at each other's homes. People had started to suspect that you were dating, but you shrugged off their comments, mostly because you thought Shinwon found it burdensome... he didn't, but thought that you find it burdensome.
By this point, you could say you really liked Shinwon. Each time he shuffled closer to you in his seat to lean over and point to something in your notes, explaining its importance or where you went wrong, the way his scent wafted over to you and his curly hair tickled your face mades your heart burst. You found yourself reaching out to push the locks behind his ears, but he was one step ahead of you, pushing his own hair out of his eyes and reminding you that you were in an unrequited love... or so you thought.
Shinwon found it hard to breathe whenever he was in your presence. Your smile, tiny wave and little, excited steps as you ran towards him whenever you saw him made him want to fall to the ground and cry tears of joy. God, he loved you. Yeah, truly he loved you already, at the tender age of 16.
The way you gently held onto his arm to grab his attention, the way you called out his name quietly with a smile... everything about you drove him insane. Yet he couldn't do a single thing, because he was set on the fact that you didn't have any feelings for him. Gosh, how wrong you both were...
Now, by the time you've graduated high school and are attending the same college, but different programs, you've found yourself a boyfriend. Yep, a boyfriend that isn't Shinwon.
Hui is kind-hearted and has good intentions, but really you're just dating him to get over Shinwon, 'cause it's been getting hard to remain as just his friend. He used to be weird and silly in high school, yet you loved him, and now that he's become so mature and pretty much your ideal s/o, you're truly in love.
But Hui is not entirely a cover-up, either. You like him! He's a music major, always tired yet never missing a chance to make time for you, buy gifts for you, and text you. Your heart skips a beat when he hugs you and holds your hand, and you get butterflies each time he kisses you. Yet you can't help but think of and miss Shinwon after spending some time with Hui...
How does Shinwon feel about all this? Well, he tries his best to be a good friend and support your relationship, but he badmouths Hui every chance he can get, only when you're not there, of course. His favourite way of doing this is while aggressively eating ice cream, watching dramas and fighting back tears... poor Shinwon :(
He tries to put some distance between you both so he won't be so two-faced, not realizing that it's hurting you. You keep feeling broken-hearted each time you check your phone and don't see a text from Shinwon.
"Are you waiting for some sort of news?" Hui asks you, gingerly rubbing your thigh to get your attention.
You sigh, shaking your head, no.
"What's wrong then, love?" he asks you, taking his hands off the steering wheel of his car.
"A lot of things..." you mumble.
With your friendship with Shinwon falling apart and Hui being hurt by the way you're seemingly hiding a lot of things from him, nothing seems to be going well for you, and it just gets worse when Hui calls you to meet you one Friday evening.
"What is it, Hui?" you ask in a high tone, trying to sound as energetic as possible.
"Well... how do I say this, [y/n]?" Hui starts, swaying from side to side and fidgeting.
"I think... we need to end things. I get the feeling you're not as... in love with me as you were before, and-"
"Hui!"
"-I think it's best that we just part ways. But I'll always be here for you as a friend, whenever you need me," Hui finishes, a sad smile on his face.
You feel at a loss for words and all you can do is give him one last hug before he leaves you standing in the cold of winter by yourself.
The first thing that comes to mind is: Shinwon. You need to hear his voice and feel his arms around you...
"Shinwon! Shinwon..." you call out when he answers your call.
"W-where have you been?" you ask him.
"Waiting for you to call," he jokes, his voice sounding raspy.
"Shinwon..."
"I'm sorry, [y/n]... I'm sorry, I-are you okay? Why does your voice sound-"
You burst into sobs before Shinwon can even finish, and all he asks is where you are. Once you tell him, it only takes five minutes for him to get there.
"[y/n], what happened? Come here," he calls out, opening his arms.
You run into his embrace and bury your face in his chest, warm and soft just like you remember it.
"H-Hui... b-broke up... with m-me," you stutter, having a hard time speaking while crying.
"W-what? Why?" Shinwon asks, mentally beating himself up for being glad that you're single now.
"He said he thought I wasn't in love with him anymore," you explain.
"It's okay, [y/n], it's okay... let's go somewhere warm for now."
-
Back in Shinwon's apartment, he covers you in blankets and offers you some comfy clothes to wear.
"I can't let you go back to your own place, [y/n]. Not like this.... I'm worried," he says.
"I need... hugs," you mumble, reaching up for Shinwon from where you sit on the couch.
He smiles, crouching down to tightly hug you.
Somehow, he ends up laying beside you on the couch, and somehow you end up falling asleep in his arms. He smiles, stroking your hair and fighting the urge to press a kiss to your forehead.
"God, [y/n]... how have I been holding back for all these years?"
-
Shinwon makes sure you eat breakfast the next day before he sends you off to attend your classes. He doesn't let you spend a second alone outside of your classes, though, and you're reminded of your high school days as he follows you around and studies with you, eats with you and even spends nights at your place.
Your heart is faltering more intensely yet again after spending more time with him, and it's hard to control yourself. You're not alone, though, as Shinwon feels the same.
Sipping on the orange juice that Shinwon brought you one morning, claiming vitamin c would help you battle the flu (it was summer, though and you weren't even sick), you held back laughter as Shinwon said, "orange you glad we met?"
"I sure am glad, but you owe me an appleogy for doing nothing but hurting my heart since the day we met," you say.
Shinwon widens his eyes and raises his eyebrows, giving you a questioning look.
You look down with a sigh, asking yourself if you're really gonna do this.
"Shinwon... I've had feelings for you for the longest time, and still do. I know you don't feel the same, so it's been hard on me... you don't have to say anything cause God I don't want things to get awkward between us so..."
Shinwon puts down his orange juice, trying his best to hide his smile.
"You... like me?" he asks you, pointing to himself.
You nod, your heart racing in his chest. What will he do? Make fun of you? Walk away? Stay quiet?
"What if I told you I feel the same?"
Your head shoots up at his response, eyes wide at his answer.
"Huh?"
"I like you, [y/n], and I'm sorry I hurt you so much for not telling you sooner..."
You force back a smile but end up laughing loudly. Shinwon smiles, taking hold of your hands.
"Are we now a campus couple?" you ask, breathlessly.
"If you want us to be," Shinwon says, sweetly.
You nod and he blushes, hiding his face on your arm. You giggle at his cute behaviour, ruffling his hair.

hi! could you do a fluff prompt for shinwon of pentagon. w lines 26 + 31 if you're srill accepting?
I'm not gonna lie, I'm having feelings after writing this one. I think I made myself fall in love with Shinwon? Help. jk aren't we all in love with him already
26. “Please just kiss me already.” 31. “Are you flirting with me?” “You just noticed?”
The sound of about a dozen pairs of feet heading in your direction suddenly fills your ears. You put your phone in the pouch of your hoodie as you hear them getting louder. By the time you look in the direction of the sound, you see them–eight members of Pentagon and about a handful of staff members.
They had one of many performances for their new comeback scheduled today and your best friend, Changgu, had invited you to come wait for him in the back. You wouldn’t normally come to a scheduled activity like this, but you’re leaving for a month-long trip tomorrow and Changgu offered to help you pack tonight despite how full his day was. He was always lovely like that, going out of his way to help you without you even having to ask. Even when you would protest his help in favor of his own self-care, he would insist. It’s just how it goes with Changgu.
Changgu smiles when he sees you, waving at you from across the room while a couple staff members quickly remove any equipment or fragile accessories from him. The other members all nod, smile, or say their hellos to you, Hongseok taking the time to make small talk with you as he removes his own performance gear.
“I’ll be back in twenty! Going to change and wrap some things up and then we can go.” Changgu announces with a tap on your shoulder and a reassuring smile before he disappears through one of many doors and hallways littered around the room. You start to pull out your phone again to pass the time, but then you feel a warm body sitting next to you on the small couch. You glance over and see a smiling Shinwon. “Hi, beautiful.”
Your cheeks tinge pink, not expecting such a sweet name from such a handsome man–not that you’re complaining. “Oh, hi Shinwon.” Your voice is soft but confident and he seems to be able to pick up on that because his smile changes to one of intrigue. “I’m really happy you’re here,” he says, his tone sincere. Shinwon is always sincere but it feels different in a very nice way when his tone matches it. Your cheeks feel even warmer but you don’t want him to see how he affects you, knowing he’ll happily point it out for his own fun. You decide to respond to him without words, matching his smile instead.
“You look very nice.” He adds, making you very aware of the fact that you’re sitting beside him in sweats and sneakers and he’s dressed like a literal work of art. You giggle and scoff at him, tilting your head to look up at him through your lashes for dramatic effect. “Don’t flatter me.”
“What if I want to?” His quick wit catches you off guard as it often does. You just sit there for a moment, holding eye contact with him that he has no intention of shying away from. You feel like this can’t possibly be happening right now. The confident, alluring image they’ve been presenting on stage this comeback must be rubbing off on him in a big way.
“Are you flirting with me?” You ask, not letting the eye contact falter. “You just noticed?” He asks back, a small smirk forming on his lips.
You can’t help but beam, even though you roll your eyes at the same time. “You’re something else.” He’s definitely heard that before but he still grins like it’s the first time. It’s the first time from you and that’s the point. He glances at the clock on the wall and then stands up as if he has somewhere to be.
“Time for a smoke break.” Your face contorts in confusion. You know he doesn’t smoke. Even if he did, he wouldn’t do it here. “I need a bodyguard to come with me. Are you up for the job? When I look this expensive, I am a target for criminals. And anyone with good taste.” The smirk is back with the last sentence and as obnoxiously confident as he’s being, again, you can’t help but smile. “Sure thing. I wouldn’t want anything to happen to Changgu’s friend.” He appreciates the banter and offers you his arm.
As the two of you walk out the back of the building to an empty slab of concrete and alleyways, you suddenly feel the vibe change. You’re alone with Shinwon. No one can see you here and most don’t even know you’re here at all. Butterflies flitter about in your stomach. You never thought you would feel this much attraction to Shinwon. Of course, you’ve always thought he was incredibly handsome and one of the funniest people you know, but you’ve never been more than just playful friends with one another. In this moment, you feel like two people that are starting to see each other in a different light. It feels foreign, but good.
Shinwon turns to face you and you shrink back against the wall, your nerves getting to you a bit. “So, you’re leaving for a while?” He asks, not showing any recognition of your nerves as he looks at you the same way he did inside. You nod excitedly. You’ve been looking forward to your trip for months and it’s finally time. Shinwon’s frown pulls you out of your excitement and you wonder if something is wrong. “So I have to wait a month to take you on a date, then?”
“Shinwonnnn,” you whine playfully, wiggling your body in mock mini-tantrum. The truth is that you would love to go on a date with him but the feelings you’re having are overwhelming you and you don’t know how to accept them so you’re opting for playing them off. The bright, adoring smile on his face in response to you doesn’t help anything. It feels like the butterflies in your stomach will fly right out any second.
“What? Don’t you want to?” Goosebumps cover your body at the change of his tone. His question is asked low, slow, with more eye contact than you can handle in this already-exhilarated state. You realize he’s somehow closer to you now, his long waves falling over his face as he looks down at you. You forgot he’s asked you anything at all, your eyes taking in every beautiful feature of his face before settling on the pretty pink pout of his lips. They look so soft, inviting. If you just leaned in a little bit you could just–
No, that’s crazy. The blush on your cheeks from earlier has nothing on this new shade. You glance down, feeling embarrassed by the way you were overtly gawking at him. A choked gasp leaves your lips when you feel the soft red velvet of his gloved finger lifting your chin to meet his intense gaze once again. “Please just kiss me already.” The same low, honey tone makes you do as requested.
The kiss is short and sweet but full of possibilities. His lips are even softer than they look and you miss them the moment they pull away, though the giddy smile on his face almost makes up for it. You feel like you should say something, but what do you say after a moment like that? Shinwon takes it upon himself to break the silence, his mouth forming a sentence that you’ll never get to hear.
Changgu’s head pops out of the back door that squeaks loud enough to announce his presence. You’re grateful he didn’t open the door a minute sooner to see you kissing one of his many best friends when you’re meant to be there for him. You two are awfully close, yes, but you can explain that away much easier. To your relief, Shinwon handles the situation for you–something he seems to be doing a lot today.
“Thank you for lending y/n to me,” he starts as he walks back to the door, gesturing dramatically all the while. “She saved me from vile criminals during my smoke break. You really ought to give her a raise.” By the time he’s finished with his imaginative tale, his elbow is resting atop the shoulder of the one and only Changgu, who is looking at him like he’s insane. That probably happens a lot.
“...Okay.” Changgu laughs and shakes his head, not sure what is going on with Shinwon but deciding it’s most likely not worth the time investigating. “Y/n, are you ready? I placed a delivery order to your place so we should probably get there asap.” Reliable Changgu, even making sure you’re well-fed. You smile at him fondly and nod as you make your way back to him.
He’s already making his way back through the door when you reach him, undoubtedly on his way to grab his things so you two can leave. You follow after him but Shinwon stops you, his arm holding yours to him just long enough to whisper a reminder in your ear. “Think about what kind of date you’d like me to plan for us when you get back.” He smirks at you one last time before releasing you to tail your best friend in a Shinwon-induced daze.
