Since a lot of marketing is sort of aimed at the demographic that buys cute anime merch over anything else I’m expecting that by the shinomono adaptation we will have this sort of dichotomy

It’s not that waffle cone strawberry ice cream sweet Lolita princess rainbow sprinkles Nadeko can’t work it’s just that seeing them both is kind of like getting stabbed

We were robbed!!! (I do actually love Sengoku too but STILL!)
(Context: Shinomonogatari 2 Chapter 1 is basically feels a foreword of Nisio’s thoughts abt Nadeko)
Tsukihi has been away in Ikusamonogatari (not even going to the Koyohita wedding), and Family Season doesn’t necessarily only mean the family Koyohita have formed, so there’s still hope!

i don't believe Izuko when she says Uroko is evil because that's what all moms say about their children

Note
i almost finished it
i really like how she describes herself as though she's the kind of alter ego aberration that ougi and the rainy devil are, it really makes you second guess that she's actually izuko's flesh and blood daughter for a second.
there's a lot of implications about this character. i'm gonna have to reread her monologue a few times.
she seems so confident and like she's got everything in order because she's been taking care of herself her whole life... really makes the fact that nadeko nonchalantly saves her stand out. not even izuko could do anything.
nadeko has gotten so cool.
have you read Shinomonogatari? if so, something with Urako
i have not!!! i finally have enough free time to get on that. will write something about her when i do 👶

What do you mean there's only small loose bonus pieces????
What the fuck????
How many novels is that????
*This excludes the untranslated Shinomonogatari

Re: Ikusa spoiler question
Hello! I was curious in regards to the Ikusamonogatari novel if they say specifically what day Koyomi & Hitagi got married on? Thanks for your time!
They never state the date either in Ikusa or Shinomonogatari. Probably because it was more of a formality to them the honeymoon story opens with wedding having already happened some days ago. I like to think it was 17 May 2023, the day when "Koyomi's Wedding Report" promotional video was posted :']

The Shinomonos, despite taking place at different times canonically are still in the same year and are thus both period pieces about Covid, shino2 just happens to be the other half of the covid emotions in abstract form.
While it is an island survival story, it’s also being suddenly isolated at a coming of age point of your life and suddenly having to make it all work. During a period of time where literally reaching out and getting your shit together is hard and you have to be isolated. While people do face similar things without covid its nature as a double released novel, does, in fact, influence its writing.
The isolation is ultimately a factor that helps Nadeko gain independence, if it wasn’t an island isolation story it would be Nadeko learning how to live alone, being confused, trying and maybe failing to make things work, but ultimately growing. This is a really common story a lot of people once “leaving the nest” so to speak. It’s just harsher than it should have been, I’m sure Nadeko might come to similar views on art from prolonged covid isolation as well. There’s no way Nadeko could go back home after the way things were after all, like ur parents tell you to give up on your dreams but suddenly COVID happens and now you have to do online classes and can only really spend time with your parents a few years?? With also trying to sneak in your manga debut knowing your parents like, hate the you that is yourself? Nadeko would probably actually become the final boss this time, for real. In theory Nadeko could grow and change to be stronger in that environment too, but would be subject to the irreparable brain poison of “living with your parents”-itis. Truly it’s that Nadeko was once more at the wrong place in the wrong time, but was the right person.

i like the idea of a book exploring the lives of characters in lockdown but maybe it should have been a bunch of short stories (a la Sodachi Sisterhood); on the other hand, the main plot deserves more focus for itself. i certainly don't dislike it, but it's messy and absolutely should have been handled better
shinomonogatari 1
okay i get why nobody wanted to translate this. a third into this 390 page-long novel and they're still. not in fucking romania. i will tear my hair out if this goes on for a dozen pages longer

just finished reading musubimonogatari so im caught up to the end of off season in the novels. i thought i would wait until shinomonogatari was finished translating to get a start on monster season but i think i should just start reading shinobumonogatari [note: not the same novel as shinomonogatari] now and by i get to the end of ougimonogatari the shinomonogatari translation will probably be complete. i reckon the announcement of the new season has probably pushed polaris to be more invested in working on it somewhat
