SHINE MURAL FESTIVAL

Houston based muralist Emily Ding describes her work as "characterized by expressive animals and figures, which come to life through bold color gradients and a fluid, painterly style." This beautiful work was painted in 2021 for the 7th edition of the SHINE Mural Festival in St. Petersburg, Florida. Produced annually by the St Pete Arts Alliance, SHINE has now created more than 100 murals since launching in 2015.

I visited Vainglory’s booth at SHINE Festival 2017 on 1 July (Day 2).

Waited for at least 3h for our turn to play Blitz on the iPad. (It took so long because the pros were playing private matches) It was my first time playing on the iPad, so I was pretty nervous. I picked Gladiator Ardan, his Rare talent (Vanguardian), and went for a full support build.

1st min: We were losing because we hadn’t gotten a single point. 2nd min: Nevertheless, we won the first teamfight and took down a turret. I sneakily took down the Middle sentry while the enemy was distracted. (Kestrel tried to steal it but got caught by us. Vision FTW). Last min: We were leading by a huge margin. The enemy was desperate and tried to take out the Middle sentry. The audience was encouraging our team to fight. When the Middle sentry was less than half health, I threw down the Gauntlet, which threw the enemy off guard. Koshka’s Twirly Death hit all 3 of them, and Gwen stood at a safe distance to finish up the enemy. Needless to say, we won the match all thanks to vision.

Stuff I received from the event: Vainglory t-shirt (They only had L size, which is way too big for me), stickers, Blue Sparkler Skaarf pin.

Born in Argentina where she studied visual art at University of La Plata, Cecila Lueza now lives in the United States and has made a name for herself with her public art pieces. Creating both painted and sculpted work, sometimes on a massive scale, Lueza is known for her precesion and upbeat pieces that explore the visual effects of color and incorporate elements of nature and geometry. For the fourth annual Shine Festival in St Pete, Florida, in 2018 Lueza created this work at 1st St and Central Ave, "inspired by that magical time between daylight and darkness."  @shineonstpete/
