Ok, so. Nishitani didn't cause Majima to become "The Mad Dog of Shimano"? Aight.
Nor did Sagawa. Nah. He didn't either. No "Mad Dog of Shimano" to be seen thanks to him.
Neither did Shimano himself! "Mad Dog of SHIMANO"? Nah! Just a lackey really!
Caberet Club. That's what Cabaret Club does to a mfer That's what unleashes the "Mad Dog of Shimano"!

You have no idea how much it pisses me off that Shimano dies in Y1. Like, "oh yeah let's just kill off the entire reason why Majima is like he is. Oh? Will he develop past this? Shed the Mad Dog persona because his creator; his handler has perished? Is gone? Has been deaded. Unalived??? Nah. He's the same. Shame if there was a reason for this. Like. Oh, I dunno. Said handler was still around. His ingrained behaviour reinforced thanks to his stimulus. His encouragement. Shame he would have no escape from this if he was still around. Shame he wouldn't be able to get away scratching and kicking from this horrible life and become more than the Mad Dog he supposedly is and always will be. Yeah. Anyway Shimano dies is a good idea."

You know what? I'm thinkin' that Nishikiyama Akira, Second Patriach of the Shimano Family has a damn good ring to it. Like, the two already have history. Maybe he (Nishiki) took Shimano's words to heart? Decided to follow him? Well, after he is dead ofc. I know Nishiki dies at the end of Y1 (spoilies), but what if He Didn't? Eh? Make Majima more of a match for Kiryu. They trade blows. Majima limps away. Kiryu limps away. Not a one sided conflict as seen in canon. Nishiki sees this. He knows Majima can stand up to Kiryu. Majima, the Mad Dog of... You guessed it.. Shimano. So what? You're a "mad dog". Anyone can be a "mad dog" if they so wish to forego their inhibitions. But... "of Shimano"? That's somethin'! You have purpose. Drive! Nishiki needs that. He desires it. So he succumbs to the loyalty of Shimano. The myth of Shimano's power. What did we truly see him do? The Jingweon Massacre? Give me a break. Bringing a gun to a fistfight is the epitome of cowardess. But, is Nishiki meant to know that? Nahhhh, he is meant to know the presentation of Shimano: the one who committed atrocities, who tamed the "Mad Dog", a legend in the Yakuzies... So he desires to take up that mantle. A mantle to rival that of Kiryu's; The Dragon of Dojima.... Nishiki becomes Shimano... The 2nd Shimano, mind you. "Shimano" cannot die. He persists. He is alive despite being dead. Through Nishiki, the second Patriarch of the Shimano Family, they both achieve their own ascension! Which, is kinda the deal with Yakuza right? Climbing up the ranks, yknow? But hey. Nishiki finally becomes what he wanted; More than what he is. And, more importantly. Something to rival Kiryu.

So so so fucked up that Shimano was the first and last patriarch of his family. Like, it really shows you how much of that “loyalty” he had was because of fear. No-one respected him. How could you, really? The embodiment of this loyalty, Majima, was made through torture. His “mad dog” made so through brutal punishment and pain no man should go through. Reduced to nothing but an animal through this torture. Of course the Shgoons (Shimano Goons) are gonna be like “Uhm.” about that. They see what has happened to Majima and are like “Not worth it actually” and, sure, they stick around, but that’s only because they’d be Made To. And not in a good way. Minds and bodies broken to fit Shimano’s vision. Shimano’s warped, vile, vicious vision. Sure, the Yakuza is a crime family. Not, uhhh, like, unwilling, to engage in Less than Favourable activities, but Shimano’s a bit too gung ho with it to put it likely. Like, would you respect the man who’s Most Loyal Soldier is one whom he tortured and made into a loyal “dog” by way of the most unimaginable torture? I, personally, wouldn’t. Shimano’s death must’ve been an absolute relief to many. Not me, though, I love the guy, but I digress. Like, I’d be like, “well i would climb the ladder, but the ladder is made of fire and nails so i’d rather not”. You get me? There’s tough, and then there’s suicidal. And I think rising those ranks of the Shimano Family certainly entails a slow, painful death. Shimano got out easy tbh. Or did he? Someone so desperate for respect, he has to literally tear people apart to take it. The fact that he is forgotten is a perfect end for a Perfect Man <3. A family lost to history. No “Second Patriarch of the Shimano Family”. He doesn’t deserve it. And no-one wants to embrace that mantle. Not even his ultimate weapon, Majima. And that’s it, really. Someone so full of bluster. Someone who draws everyone’s gaze. He’s the only one with that pinky-brown suit, he’s different, he stands out. Bald bastard, all the others have hair, too. Someone who steals the room, both with their physical presence and how they present themselves. Ultimately forgotten. It’s that physicality, really. He is different. He’s bigger, his wardrobe - brighter, his head - shinier, like! Screaming, gnawing, biting, crying.... He!!!!!! And then, in a second, he’s GONE. His family, his presence, his baldness... gone. Just like that!!! Fucked up. Perfect. It’s just Him. Nothing more. Everything he has done is just that. What He Has Done, you know? No wonder he’s so Forceful. He’s trying to break through to people. Not working. So he Breaks People instead. He thinks that works. Sure, Alivemano does, because Majima is his faithful dog, but the real measure of his worth- his legacy- wellllll. You didn’t hear it from me but it’s a bit, shall we say, lacking? A perfect fate for a perfect man. So obsessed with control, he has none.

No-one: h-
Me: Yeah, Sagawa may be seen as a bit of a joke, a bit of a funny bloke. A silly boy? Pee Pee Baby? But I think he’s a genuinely terrifying character, you know? Like, remember that scene in Y0? In the public bathroom where Sagawa find him [Majima] when he [also Majima] leasts expects it and reveals that he’s been watching him the entire time, and then to tell him that his own death would mean nothing more than an extra mess for the poor bastard who would have to clean it up? The humiliation is off the charts! Imagine being this larger than life figure, running one of the most popular cabaret joints in Sotenbori reduced to nothing but a stain in the bathroom by someone who is arguably more important than you, considering he’s your “caretaker”. Reduced to nothing but a mess to be cleaned up in the eyes of your apparent caretaker, who has eyes on you at all times. Remember those lads who watched Majima through his windows? Majima knows Sagawa is everywhere, he could be anyone,  but he doesn’t know where he is. That, in my opinion, is the most terrifying crap, especially when this omnipresent being is your judge, jury, and potential executioner all in one.
