Shijima Mei’s hair colour and lost time-an analysis/yap

okay so like we all know that the living Shijima Mei and the Wonder Shijima Mei have slightly different hair colours (I’m gonna refer to them as LMei and 4Mei respectively)

(Why does LMei have no fullbody sprite I’m clawing at my cage)

LMei has more orange-hued light brown/dark blonde hair, while 4Mei has lighter, very slightly shorter hair with a greener undertone.

It’s also important to note that while we do not know how long LMei was in hospital for before she died, we could very well assume it was a while, considering how used to it all she is, and how her own classmates didn’t know how she died (if the illness hospitalised her for like 2 weeks I think they’d remember)

4Mei is an idealised version of LMei, the artist with all the time in the world that she wants to be. Dark blonde hair just gets darker and more brown over time, and while not at a super great speed, I do think the idea that 4Meis hair represents the time LMei has lost in hospital to be plausible.

Similairly, when her hair is styled in plaits, it appears shorter, while LMeis hair is overgrown and not very freshly cut.

Idk I just always found their appearance differences very interesting. I too want my hair to be slightly lighter again Mei, me too.

Mannnn the heart of jshk's themes really is hope in spite of absolute bleak hopelessness huh. It's no wonder Shijima gets such a spectacular send off at the end of her arc— she IS the fantasy you indulge in even when you know it's futile, and it's very sweet and very important that the story treat that not as something to be looked down upon or rejected entirely, even when Shijima herself wants to reject it entirely. Sometimes, we need false hopes to keep on living, and sometimes, those false hopes are beautiful in their own right.

ASWELL as that, Mei (number 4) had died form a illness, so did minamoto’s mum during birth and ALMOST Amane which they had said that Amane would die from this but the. SUDDENLY the god was able to take this incurable illness away?? Almost like….IT WAS THE ONE TO PUT IT ON THEM??🤔🤔

Idkkk, it’s almost like the god had lead them on so it could use them in the future. It seems it already has the ability to go through time and go where ever it wants with the use of a vessel (person)

Talking about Minamoto Mom

[tbhk spoilers ahead]

Why is she alive in the new timeline? The clock keepers only changed one thing in the past, the major effects being on the seven wonders and the entity under the red house. Minamoto Mom died of an illness, and unless I missed some important detail, it had nothing to do with the supernatural. She should have died of that illness in the new timeline, but she didn't. Something else must've been involved. Someone must've lied to the Minamoto children about her death, or at least refrained from telling the entire truth.

DAY 14: Shijima Mei (Toilet Bound Hanako-kun)

Hanako-kun's artwork is stylistically distinct, colourful, and really cute but also appropriately menacing when the tone calls for it. I like this story a lot though MY TWO FAVOURITES HAVEN'T SHOWN UP FOR A WHILE NOW………… Shijima Mei I will never forget you.

Fate also plays with the same rules of "the rumours of the living affect the perception of the dead" and it bangs as always. Shijima was born from a simple and hopeful wish to draw, but ended up being the medium for twisted rumours of people looking to make a creepy story out of Mei's death… It's always really interesting when a character is created specifically for the sake of someone else and lives faithfully by those rules to their own detriment or tries to break free of them… There's a lot of different paths those stories can go. It's lovely.

They were so good. Why can't Shijima be included in the main cast.
