DAY 27: Kagura (Inuyasha)

Ah yes. Another childhood classic. Kagura's a lovely, tragic character that never got the happy ending. Trapped forever by the very circumstances of her creation, she just wanted to be free, like the wind.... And in the end she smiled................ I don't have much more to say. I like her and Kanna's designs a lot :) also she widowed Sesshoumaru before they were even together that's crazyyy (I'm ignoring Yashahime. I don't care to read it.)

DAY 26: Lyserg Diethel (Shaman King)

Mentally ill revenge-obsessed king rise up. Characters that hurt the people they love because they're so blind to any damage they're causing in their rage... Good. delicious food.

I really gotta reread Shaman king too, or maybe I'll finally get around to watching the new anime adaptation they made last year... I'm genuinely unsure about it. There's no way in hell you fit all 30 books into 1 season of anime there's no way it has any reasonable pacing right (afraid)

Another case of "being caught up in your revenge that you become just like who you hate" Lyserg getting the spirit of fire at the end was crazy. I think they should've dived deeper into that bro. Inheriting the "flames of hatred" that the target of your rage used to use and burning everyone around you. I say this with all the love in the world but I think he should've gone through the torment nexus a little more. For enrichment.

DAY 28: Hirako Shinji (Bleach)

Even though the general recommendation with bleach is "stop watching after soul society arc" I somehow read the whole thing.

BLEACH YOU COULD'VE BEEN GREAT.

Hirako my man that never got to reach his full potential... I miss him. The straight teeth-smile is a charm point to me, he's kind of a hot mess but he's a goofy-ass hot mess. Him having been Aizen's old captain and suspecting something was up with him, but being unable to see the depth of the deception because he always held the man at arms length... his guilt and responsibility.... There's a lot of untapped potential with this guy.

There's some seriously banger designs and OST's that are trapped in Bleach. There was something in the water for anime OSTs that's not around today that I can't possibly put into words, and I miss it dearly.

DAY 14: Shijima Mei (Toilet Bound Hanako-kun)

Hanako-kun's artwork is stylistically distinct, colourful, and really cute but also appropriately menacing when the tone calls for it. I like this story a lot though MY TWO FAVOURITES HAVEN'T SHOWN UP FOR A WHILE NOW………… Shijima Mei I will never forget you.

Fate also plays with the same rules of "the rumours of the living affect the perception of the dead" and it bangs as always. Shijima was born from a simple and hopeful wish to draw, but ended up being the medium for twisted rumours of people looking to make a creepy story out of Mei's death… It's always really interesting when a character is created specifically for the sake of someone else and lives faithfully by those rules to their own detriment or tries to break free of them… There's a lot of different paths those stories can go. It's lovely.

They were so good. Why can't Shijima be included in the main cast.

DAY 2: Ishmael (Limbus Company)

I will forever be bitter about the Vellmori Limbus thing but I cannot deny my love for Ishmael always. I love a woman who is so angry and blind with obsession for her revenge she becomes just like the monster she is hunting.

She's a great character and very hot. The first sinner I was super fond of, and remained my favourite until this day! I'm also fond of the schrodingers boobs phenomenon she's got going on, her binder must be insane.

DAY 24: Chloé d'Apchier (Vanitas no Carte)

Speaking of Jun Mochizuki bangers. Vanitas no Carte. The main cast is the best hot mess I've ever seen and I think their situationship is really funny, BUT CHLOE. I Love Her. Toxic ass woman with a complex background, contradictory feelings and some of the most beautiful art ever. Those were all pluses to me btw I love this arc

Mochizuki always draws bangers but Chloe... is on another level. She's so beautiful it makes me feel faint. I want to frame that one cover art up on my wall and stare at it forever.

Vanitas has really interesting storytelling in how every arc's featured characters indirectly reflect something about Vanitas/Noe's relationship specifically... I'd love to talk about it some day. The characters are all delightfully messy in a way that gives me brain worms.

DAY 10: Enemoto Takane (Kagerou Project)

"Once more, I glare into the sun, "Hold on a sec before you set!" I took a deep breath--"

ENEEEEE........ I do like Kano a lot HOWEVER. My favourite song of the project is undeniably Yuukei Yesterday. It's such a fluffy song and all 3 of Ene's designs are distinct and cute… I would let her be a virus in my computer. She's gone through so much in every version of the story, Ene my chronically-ill tsundere queen get behind me. I will protect you.

DAY 5: Purson Soi (Mairimashita! Iruma-kun)

MY BOY. MY GUY. UUUGHHHHH I've read the music festival arc of Mairuma like 50 times and it always brings me immeasurable comfort and joy ITS SOOOO GOOD.

Everything about Soisoi's arc is lovingly made and I'm so excited to see it animated. Purson is one of the funniest characters in the series and the most lovable yapper.

When I tried convincing my friends to get into Mairuma they always asked "hey where's the guy you like" and I have to pathetically collapse to the floor and sew my mouth shut because nothing beats the feeling of going into the music festival arc UNSPOILED. Reading it for the first time was like becoming a new person and I'm kind of sad I've spoiled it for my friends because I can't shut up about this guy, but I can't help it. I love him a lot :)

Also the parallels Poro sees between him and Purson are CRAZYYY. WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU SEE A REFLECTION OF YOU AND THE DEMON KING YOU ARE CRAZY IN LOVE OVER. IN PURSON AND IRUMA? HEY. HEY. COME BACK HERE AND EXPLAIN THAT.

DAY 17: Ling Yao/Greed (Full Metal Alchemist)

When I was younger and much less ill in the brain, my dad gave me FMA and told me to give it a try. Somehow, I took the book recommendation and read it in a reasonable amount of time. This would not be possible in the modern day, so pops, thanks for getting me started early.

I don't want to hold it to a high pedestal but… it genuinely is really good. To me. Usually I have one or two gripes with a story, but FMA has a really solid story all around. And Thank God I started with the manga, I can't imagine having watched the 2003 anime first and living in a world without Ling Yao.

THIS GUY IS SO FUNNY. HE AND ED ATE A BOOT IN GLUTTONYS STOMACH TOGETHER. ONLY THE MANLIEST OF BONDING. And then just a few hours later he opened the door to his soul, saw Greed coming in and was like "yeah sure I'll accept this. there's probably room in here" they're insanely funny.

Greed's original look is iconic and he was really slutting it up, but I can't help but be partial to Greedling. So goofy...

DAY 20: Xerxes Break (Pandora Hearts)

I saved this guy for my birthday. Of course. OF COURSE IT'S BREAK!!!!

Pandora hearts is definitely one of my favourite books ever, and Break is the uncontested best character. That is not an opinion I say lightly, and I take no criticism.

So much that I love about him is spoilers and I always want more people would get into PH so I can't blabber on about it unfortunately. But he's really silly. and cute. Thinking about him for too long makes me cough up blood and cry, I wish I could just beam manga screenshots into everyone's brains to compel them to read it. My first and only nendroid is of this guy and his smug face. God.

He and the main character Oz have one of the most interesting dynamics I've ever seen they're insane together. They drive ME insane. Break makes me want to rip a door off its hinges with my teeth. Thank you Jun Mochizuki for my fucking life.

DAY 1: Aak (Arknights)

Starting off day 1 strong.

It's my guy, my harmacist my assistant my catboy my babygirl. I started arknights for this guy and even though he ghosted me until 6 months later I still love him to bits. HE IS MY FAVOURITE ARKNIGHTS CHARACTER BAR NOTHING and trust me there is heavy competition.

I love his backstory, his personality, his design, his gameplay, I love everything about him.

He Is The Man. 100000/10. I would kill for this smile.

DAY 18: IA (Vocaloid)

I love Miku but I must give my respects to the first Vocaloid I liked. IA my beloved. Her design is really cute and a couple of my first Vocaloid songs featured her, so I didn't know she wasn't as popular for a long time ehe…

Setsuna Drive has one of the most iconic looks for me, and the instrumentals are right up my alley. IA songs are also where I first found Sidu's art and they're one of my biggest art insps honestly... Kagerou Project by Jin has some really good IA songs and Neru also has the occassional IA song like Life Prolonging Treatment... Slurping up Vocaloid music because like I need it to live.

In general I also just really appreciate the idea of Vocaloid, I love that people who didn't have the confidence/ability to sing have a medium to create music with vocals too. Kind of like how Vtuber models has provided people who didn't want to show their faces publicly with a way to still stream and interact with others, these things that provide more opportunities for connection are really sweet. Just my sappier thoughts on it.

DAY 4: Takasugi Shinsaku (Fate/Grand Order)

THIS GUY. THE WIZARD WHO CURSED MY DICK 3 AND A HALF YEARS AGO AND IS HERE ON NA FUCKING TOMORROW.

I picked this day specifically for him so I could have a catalyst to summon him tomorrow TEEHEE…

Where do I fucking begin. I love his deranged whimsy and stupid little run, I like the way he walks and the way he talks. I pretty much love everything about him. His hair is a pain in the ass to draw and I'm a bit embarrassed of how much I love him and those are the only things stopping me from drawing him constantly. He's the worst. he's the best. I want to gnaw on him like a chew touy. I bought the whole set of bean plushies because I wanted it so bad. He's everything!!

DAY 3: Suo Hayato (Wind Breaker)

THIS IS MY SHILL FOR WIND BREAKER. GO READ IT GO WATCH IT GO DO WHATEVER.

The battle choreography is great and the character development and the genuine care the author puts into the feelings and emotions of these boys despite being a fighting manga…. its really good. go read it. Suo's my favourite character though despite how great everyone else is, he likes to tease people and he never stops smiling and he's definitely hiding something. You will realize very quickly throughout this month that I have a type. Despite his mysteriousness, he very obviously cares about his friends and always knows what to do or say to help.

Also I love how his fighting style doesn't require him make the opponent look like a fool, so he just does that for fun. He's got the only braincells in their whole class and he uses it to troll people. King shit.

DAY 13: Trafalgar Law (One Piece)

LAWWWWWWW my stupid asshole bastard man. I had my eye on him from the moment I saw his emo ass in Sabaody and every appearance since then has deepened my interest. Him and Luffy are pirate-married. The slow descent into insanity via exposure to the straw hats. The complete inability to keep any dignity he might've had around these goofballs. He's a great character all around, 10/10.

I've been a one piece reader for over half my life at this point, I had collected the manga up until covid hit and my collecting tendencies died out a bit(though my trip to japan made me want to start again. why are things expensive always). No I'm not caught up, I ended up taking a break halfway through egghead arc when Shaka (censored). If anyone spoils anything for me I will decimate them in dishonourable combat.

Also, Oda's colour spreads for One Piece are godlike to me. Have I ever mentioned that? I'm mentioning that. They are so full of life and character it's peak.

DAY 21: Obi (Akagami no Shirayukihime)

I was hired to scare off the heroine of this fantasy romance, but ended up falling in love with both her and her prince love interest and becoming her bodyguard??????? Iconic honestly. This story is a sleeper agent and I love it to bits.

I love the trio but I do have Obi bias, his hat is so stupid I love it... goofy ass... The character relationships in Shirayuki are very gentle and understanding, and I love the development of them, but also the way people have their own lives and interests. There’s a very wonderful amount of respect between each of the characters I think a lot of people could learn from, and they place equal emphasis on platonic relationships as the romantic ones. The way the whole main group all supports each other is very sweet, and the art is STUNNING. SOLID READ ALL AROUND!!

Polyam win. Even if you read the series with the idea that it's only ZenYuki, Obi's still incredibly close with them. He's their qpp third. It's just you and me and our friend steve.
