This felt a tad late but here are some of my thoughts about "Stage in Playful Land" plus some thoughts for the fic "black or white"
(Placed under the cut due to spoilers and half for Fic thoughts and future scenarios)
Fellow is admittedly a more interesting character than Rollo (The Sugita Tomokazu voicing might have influenced it too (Sugita as Gin-chan, Japanese dub Dylas from RF4 and P5R Yusuke... you are amazing)
But story wise... Glorious Masquerade won.
The ending felt a little underwhelming in how it wrap things ups but I can still accept that it ends that way with some form. (Also the fact that Fellow went "I'mma make my own school instead" after he got unreasonably laid off is... admittedly hilarious for a whiplash after he spent much of the event obeying his bosses because he had no where else to go.
Which brings to... what I'm going to talk about next in regards to my fic.
Though small, I hinted bits during the future snippet entry "jaws" of Yuu (Rei) got targeted and called a "Fake magician" for her old but actually legit way to use magic to catch up and defend herself.
While it was initially written because NRC being filled with asshole magicians would make them easily take offense at Yuu (Rei) for supposedly going against the "status quo" that a magicless person shouldn't dare try to use magic.
Then we get Fellow, who himself was faced with elitism because his magic was considered too low to be properly honed.
Now it's less they are against Yuu (Rei) for going against the status quo and more, they are being elitist asses and try to put Yuu (Rei) down because they can't stand her for trying to get on even grounds with the magicians of Night Raven College.
Back to speaking about Playful Land.
I actually half expect that Fellow actually won and it would get the rest of the students who didn't join to come after them all. Or we get a reaction to everyone who didn't join after what went down now that they got back to Sage Island.
We didn't get to see that yet but... maybe we might see Fellow and Gidelle again.
Overall, the story's ending felt a little underwhelming but Fellow and Gidelle gave really interesting food for thought about societal politics in Twisted Wonderland.

2020 winter dorama (1)
There's a plague of medical dramas this season, and I'm probably not going to catch them all. Top Knife - 13.0% Stars: Amami Yuki, Shiina Kippei, Hirose Alice, Nakayama Kento Recommend level: ♥ ♥ ♡ Penned by Hayashi Koji, a veteran scriptwriter for medical dramas who headed the highly rated Boss, Iryuu and (the original and much better) Code Blue series, and starring the godly Amami Yuki, the first episode was a disappointment only in that it's not as well-defined as something like Boss or Code Blue. Characterisation was one of the strengths of Code Blue, and all of the characters feel a little flat here, despite all being solid actors. As usual with Hayashi Koji's quality, it's educational quality medicine. I mean I really don't ask for much - I was just impressed that Amami had her mask on before she scrubbed. It doesn't quite have the humorous quirks of the Boss ensemble, nor the clearly emotional journey of the Code Blue group, and it's hard to see from the first episode where the pinning morale lies and where the series would like to lead. Zettai Reido 4 | Absolute Zero 4 - 10.6% Stars: Sawamura Ikki, Yokoyama Yuu, Honda Tsubasa Recommend level: ♥ ♥ ♥ It looks like Uedo Aya has officially handed the baton over, and what started off as a light-hearted series about a green policewoman has turned into a sci-fi big-brother-esque venture where the unregistered team attempts to prevent crimes before they happen. In recent years, a few police procedurals have distinguished themselves by not always giving the case a happy ending - and Zettai Reido 4 continues this trend from the 3rd series. Often the intended victim had done something that made them - if not an appropriate target for murder - certainly an appropriate object of revenge. Several times, the would-be murderers resort to this because the victims had proved themselves to be above the rule of law and there were no other avenues to exact justice. As the team members push on, the ethics of who they should be defending eats away at their morale and morals. It's not for someone looking for a light-hearted laugh, but certainly worth putting in a thought. Shiro demo kuro demonai sekai de, Panda wa warau | In a world without black or white, the Panda smiles - 9.5% Stars: Seino Nana, Yokohama Ryusei, Satou Jiro Recommend level: ♥ ♥ In a time slot usually reserved for experimental and provocative dramas, like last year's Class 3A, the title literally means "In a world without black or white, the Panda smiles. The premise is a little complicated to explain, but essentially a psychology student hypnotises a girl into becoming a vigilante, bringing punishment onto those treading in the "grey" (neither black nor white) zone. That said, the 2 crimes that were shown in the first episode were very much black and unless there's significant police corruption, I don't see why they can't just hand the evidence over to the police instead of taking things into their own hands. Satou Jiro is their mysterious overseer slash Minister of Justice, which I presume is meant to be a subversive and slightly terrifying role but I can see him itching to do his schtick...and after seeing him a few times through Gintama and other things, he's really only got one schtick and it gets old very fast. I'm fond of both Seino and Yokohama, up and coming stars both in their own right, and I think this will be good experience for both of them to expand into something different to their previous roles.

this was something old that I did but never quite finished until recently?
I was thinking of making this something of an alternative cover or ending chapter cover where the items and things to refer to the OB Victims will get replaced by the actual people as the chapter ends.
Though I’m not sure if I got time for that lately...
Or maybe I could remake the concept for this art and doing it with both the main story and Murder Siblings AU since Yuu (Rei)’s Velvet room is a Cinema theater.
With the mainline story, I described Yuu (Rei) looking into the OB Victims memories as going into a dreamscape cinema so there’s that.

golden dragon’s prelude
BEFORE WE BEGIN:
So uh, before we start:
This piece will be one of the biggest things I will reveal regarding Yuu (Rei)’s involvement to the plot that will make her completely diverge from the position of canon MC.
I actually wanted to post it first after finishing chapter 13 but now my focus of fic has diverted to my Persona 5 Royal fic “tabula rasa”, and with Twisted Wonderland main story not being quite finished yet, I decided to hold off a bit before deciding whether or not I want to finish “black or white” on the first main arc in Night Raven College of the game or continue on.
Though personally, I may just conclude it on the first overarching arc after Diasomnia and whatever we had with OB Grim in the future, and make it fully canon divergent after OB Grim is dealt with.
So with that in mind, I decided to reveal this ahead to set up what else will diverge from Twisted Wonderland canon in “black or white”.
Also there’s going to be a bunch of new original characters introduced but I will make a post about who are the newly introduced OC’s soon.
This contains ideas to how Pomefiore concluded and play into how Ignihyde and Diasomnia will run.
Without further ado, here we go!
She couldn’t hear whatever it was that happened under the stage once the results of the vote announced it as a tie.
Vil-san seemed upset at what Rook-senpai had said.
Neige also seemed to be visited by a fellow RSA student about the results.
Then there was an announcement from Neige via the microphone. “Can the Directing student Yuu Shiina come down to the stage?”
She was suspicious to where this goes down, but nonetheless, complied and went towards the stage.
Rather than take the stairs, she quietly chanted the runes at her shoes, the runes glowed and she jumped, her jumps gave the illusion that she was touching on an invisible platform as she reached the stage down at the colosseum, accompanied by Shiro on her shoulder and Grim at her free shoulder.
She landed on the ground next to the NRC group with ease, both Grim and Shiro jumping down from her shoulder as soon as she landed and she soon gazed over to Neige Le Blanche, and the student next to him, accompanied by a blue-green snake wrapped around-
Wait, that’s-
“Yaolan?” She called for said student.
Yaolan greeted her with a wave once he heard her.
Yaolan had been a regular that Yuu got acquainted with when she started taking a part-time job at cafe La Salvia down town.
She knew that he studied in Royal Sword Academy as a foreign exchange student in his second year and they had been friendly with each other as fellow foreigners in a strange land over the months they got acquainted.
But now, she felt a strong aura emitting out of him.
She didn’t notice it before, but now that she had made her pact with Shiro official, she can sense the irregular aura emanating out from the snake.
The aura is the same aura she felt with Shiro now that they officiated their pact together.
For a moment, she felt apprehensive about what this would be about.
She absentmindedly placed her left hand on her upper right arm, where the magical tattoo that formed as a sign of her officiated pact with Shiro lay concealed underneath her cardigan sweater and blouse.
She sincerely hoped it wasn’t about what transpired earlier before the competition.
She already had Leona-san on her case.
“For a brief moment, there was this air surrounding the whole area that kept us all frozen until it’s gone in an instant.” The Savanaclaw dorm head started once he got a hold of her during the break.
“Omnivore, what did you do?”
She kept mum.
She sent Grim off to Ace and Deuce’s way, not wanting him to get involved in whatever mess would come out of confronting Vil-san of what he plans to do to Neige at the time. (Grim ended up being involved anyway)
So instead, she answered. “You can ask Vil-senpai in private later.”
...Leona-san aside, there’s Malleus.
“For a brief moment, there was a stillness in the air.” The Diasomnia dorm leader spoke shortly before he left, his voice a whisper.
“Do you know what caused it, child of man?” He questioned.
Behind Malleus, she can see Kalim-san looking worried, but otherwise quiet.
“I’m not sure about that.” Was her reply.
The truth is this, Shiro is actually a powerful mythical creature in disguise.
Specifically, Shiro is the White Tiger of the West, one of the Four Cardinal gods.
She’s aware of the legend back home, but she doesn’t know if the same applies in this new world as well.
While their existence was covered in history class at one point, she didn’t pay too much attention at how involved they actually were in the world of Twisted Wonderland beyond the fact that they exist.
So really, color her surprised when Shiro, whom she believed to just be a magical cat familiar, shifts to a gigantic white tiger, protecting her, Kalim-san and Rook-san from being poisoned by an overblotted Vil in the halls of the Colosseum before they escaped with Jamil-san.
So the legends exist and are real in this world.
At any rate, Shiro deemed the situation with Vil-san’s overblot as dire enough to break out of his disguise and to protect them but he eventually returned to his disguise once Ace, Deuce, Epel and Grim arrived at the area.
Kalim-san, Jamil-san and Rook-san are also the only ones who bear witness to the pact they made while Vil-san initially assumed that seeing the White Tiger is just an exhaustion induced fever dream.
So really, those three are the only ones to know about Shiro’s true identity.
Though, the fact that Yaolan is enveloped in a powerful aura and accompanied by the blue-green snake on his neck...
He must have been a master of one of the Four Cardinal gods of Twisted Wonderland.
Going by the fact that Yaolan has Fengyue, the snake, with him, he must have been the master of Seiryuu, the Blue Dragon. Potentially.
“Yo, Yuu.” Yaolan started.
“Wait, potato, you know him?” Vil-san voiced.
“He’s a regular at the cafe I worked part time at.” Yuu simply answered, which was followed by Ace, Deuce, and Epel squawking out “What!?”.
Yuu, accompanied by Shiro, walked towards him. “What are you doing here?”
He crossed his arms and lifted a hand, scratching his cheek in a look of sheepishness. “I admit it’s selfish of me to vote for NRC and calling you out here but… this is an inevitable encounter and meeting.”
He paused, the smile now had a mischievous glint. “As fellow masters of the Cardinal Beasts.”
A powerful pressure filled the air, enough that it got most of the people in the vicinity on their knees.
Beside her, Grim squawked at the power and fell down to the ground while Shiro jumped from her shoulder and gracefully landed.
They’re both the only ones, outside of Yaolan and the potential Blue Dragon in disguise in front of her, who can stand firm.
All is deaf to her, she can only hear Shiro growl, and the snake slithers into their owner’s arm, hissing in return.
Furrowing her eyebrows, she scrutinizes the student in front of her.
“What do you want from this?”
Yaolan raised their arms, posing to look like he surrendered. “Hey now, I’m not here to make an enemy out of a fellow master.”
“You could just do this privately rather than to make a show by voting your rival.”
Yaolan let out a chuckle. “You really don’t know it, do you?”
“Know what?”
At her question, he started to explain. “It’s strange, you know? Every single person who had become the master chosen by the Cardinal Guardians all made quite a good name for themselves in varying ways in society, be it with the magicless and magicians. And yet… it’s odd that the same does not apply to the White Tiger for the past decades.”
What is he going with this-
“Fengyue told me that the last time the White Tiger chose a master was seven decades ago, but when the pact ended, any traces of his master at the time disappeared, as if they never existed in the first place, and there are no new records of the White Tiger choosing a new master…”
His smile is ever present as they concluded. “Until you, that is.”
She raised a brow at him, confused to why Yaolan is bringing the subject of the Four Cardinals up. “...Your point?”
Yaolan laughed once more. “Haha, sorry about that, I noticed that the White Tiger’s aura had been imprinting close to you for months but I wasn’t sure if you and the White Tiger are official yet, now I’m sure that your pact with the White Tiger is official.”
...So he knew Shiro’s true form for that long.
“By outing Shiro and I in front of hundreds of students and the visiting audience?” She raised a brow at him.
“Whoa whoa, easy, it’s not like you’re the only one alone who got outed here.” He waved his free hand at her, the snake slithering back to his neck.
A voice boomed throughout the area.
“Well met.”
This wasn’t Shiro’s voice, rather, it came from the snake.
The snake glowed, floating up and away until the outline of a dragon (The Eastern kind, rather than the one from the west), was visible and the large dragon (Seiryuu, the Blue Dragon) loomed above them all, the dragon’s head lay above the master’s shoulder.
She shifted to her left, Shiro’s form glowing and revealing his true form in suit.
A large, mystique, elegant White Tiger (Byakkou, the White Tiger) now stood in Shiro’s place, on the defensive and looking for signs of an attack.
“There is little need for apprehension, we mean no harm.” The dragon spoke.
“The actions of your master spoke of otherwise.” Shiro retorted.
“Point taken, do forgive this mischief prone master of mine.” The dragon rumbled. “It’s been a while since we last met, not since over seventy years ago when your pact with Lady Kaname ended.”
Kaname? That’s-
She took a step forward towards the dragon, Yao Lan stepping back in surprise.
Her voice was shaky as she questioned. “How… How did you know my grandma?”
There was a momentary pause in the air and the dragon let out a rumbling laughter. “Hah! So you are Lady Kaname’s brethren! That does quite explain much to why my brother in arms chose you.”
The laughter paused as Yaolan looked aghast at their familiar. “You didn’t tell me that you knew who the previous master of the White Tiger was Fengyue!”
“You never asked for the master’s name, my lord.” The Blue Dragon, Fengyue, answered.
Yaolan gave the dragon a pointed look. “You're getting a pay back for this when we get back to RSA.”
The dragon gave an impression of rolling his eyes at his master’s antics before he asked. “Still, did my brother not speak to you of how well acquainted he was with your grandmother?”
“Kaname-sama made me promise to not speak about her to anyone else outside of those who already knew of her at the time. And I still need to see if she is worthy to be my Master, regardless of whether or not this child is of Kaname-sama’s blood.”
...What...?
Shiro… Shiro knew about grandma?
Grandma’s… she had been here? In Twisted Wonderland?
“A good decision.” The dragon nodded at him.
“...But what does revealing yourselves to the public have to do with this?”
At her question, the dragon seemed thoughtful, before answering. “My brother may not have sensed it as his pact with you is recent, but I shall tell you-”
“The Golden Dragon, the creator of the Cardinal Guardian Beasts, will soon awaken from slumber.” Yaolan cut the dragon off, resulting in the dragon looking indignant at the interruption.
“Every 500 years, the Golden Dragon awakens, descending to Twisted Wonderland to observe the state of the world since his slumber, interfere with the matter of mortals, if necessary, and potentially find an individual worthy of being it’s master.” Yaolan explained, the wording sounds as if they were reciting word for word of what has been told.
“I could explain with much more clarity.”
“But Fengyue! This is a once in a lifetime chance for all of us where we can see the Golden Dragon in the flesh! And you told me if the Golden Dragon awakens soon, it’ll be the first time since a millennia ago that all four masters of the Cardinal Beasts will gather in place and have a big reunion!”
The Blue Dragon stares at his master exasperatedly. “There’s more than just a reunion between us Cardinals.” Soon elaborating.
“The Golden Dragon’s awakening means that our lord has returned to give his blessings to the land of Twisted Wonderland… and he also comes back to judge and test the strength of the Cardinal Beasts and their chosen masters, to see if they are strong enough to protect and oversee the land in his absence.”
Ah.
“So in other words, we’re going to fight the King of the Cardinals.” She surmised.
The dragon nods. “Well spoken. It is but a test of strength.”
“Do you believe that our current Masters have what it takes?” Shiro pondered upon the dragon and Yaolan’s explanation.
“They have to be. Our lord and King would descend from the heavens soon, after all. In a few years, or in a more recent time, I do not know, however.”
“And isn’t that just the exciting part?” Yaolan grinned. “A reunion and a test of strength… I’ll be looking forward to fighting you in the future!”
“Your enthusiasm for a healthy competition is admirable, young Yaolan.” A blur of blue landed in front of them, causing them to step back.
“Whoa, Headmaster!”
A blue robed old gentleman with a blue wizard hat stood, smiling serenely.
So this man is RSA’s Headmaster.
“While I appreciate a good enthusiasm, you know you’re in trouble for disrupting an event in order to find a fellow master.”
Hearing that, the student gave the old man a sheepish grin, who is currently giving his student a pointed look. “Haha, oops?”
The Headmaster let out an exasperated but fond sigh. “Now please tell both your Familiars to let off their aura. While those sitting in the audience are safe, those in the vicinity don’t look like they can hold on for long.”
Without waiting for their reply, both Shiro and the Blue Dragon, Feng Yue, obliged. The unbearable pressure around them slowly left.
Feng Yue’s form now glowed in light and he returned to his snake disguise.
Neige, who had been down on the ground since both Yao Lan and herself started talking, slowly stood and walked towards the Headmaster. “Headmaster,! How are you here? That was a powerful magical Aura earlier...”
The RSA Headmaster chuckled. “It is a simple trick, young one.”
With a pat at his hat, the RSA Headmaster turned. “Now I won’t be keeping you for long, I shall escort Yaolan out and we can return to our scheduled event.”
The Headmaster took his leave, with Yaolan following and giving her a wave before leaving.
“Yuu!”
She turned, seeing Ace, Deuce and Epel at her left. The seniors followed behind them.
“He didn’t do anything else, did he?” Ace questioned.
She shook her head.
“But… when that dragon said Kaname… did he really mean the same Kaname who was your grandmother?” Deuce pondered.
“...I’ll talk about that later once VDC is officially over.” She answered.
Yuu turned her attention back to the now shrunk Shiro and let him climb onto her shoulders and headed for the backstage.
She tried to ignore all the eyes now on her over the new information and once she’s away from invasive eyes, she called for her new familiar’s name.
“...Shiro?”
“Yes?”
“Can you tell me more about what grandma’s like years ago? She... grandma never told me about the world she was once spirited away too.”
Grandma had been open about how she was spirited away when she was younger, but never mentioned where.
What urged her to decide to keep it quiet?
“...Very well, you deserve to know more about her too, my liege.”
“...Thank you.“

The onlookers are looking in.
______________________________________________________________
Crewel saw the Headmaster brewing up a storm, feathers puffed, in a way, at the unbelievable sight in front of him.
As he looked at the screen of the troublesome puppy in his Homeroom standing firm next to the Cardinal Beast who revealed himself to have been playing masquerade to the whole school this whole time, he couldn't help but grin as he recalled how the Headmaster had treated his supposed ward.
How ironic.
The supposed ward he took in and then neglected, believing she may become irrelevant in the long run, is now relevant for a longer run.
______________________________________________________________
“The Cardinal Beast of the West and the East…” Riddle murmured at the sight of the two beasts on screen.
He only heard of legends and stories about them.
To see them in the flesh… All he could say is that they are absolutely ethereal.
He has a lot to ask of Yuu later.
______________________________________________________________
Leona groaned once he saw the White Cat and Blue-green snake transform to their true forms. “A Cardinal Beast. Great. No wonder none of us Beastfolk can actually sense his presence beyond whatever magic he did hours ago.”
Something did happen that caused the data in the stadium to go poof, and the Omnivore is deliberately hiding it, not because of what it entails, but to hide her recently finalized pact with such a powerful creature.
A smart move, if he had to say it himself.
If the white cat ended his masquerade so early in the year, the other students in this school would do anything to get their hands on having a powerful creature as a partner.
Though, given that most familiars, regardless of whether they are a regular one or a powerful mythical beast, stays loyal to their chosen master anyway, any attempts to steal a familiar would have ended as quickly as their greed was born.
That’s not counting the repercussions of angering a mythical beast either.
...He can sense a troublesome call coming from brother dearest later once the VDC is over.
He’s going to have his eye on the Omnivore soon.
Anyone who is known to be the Master of one of the four Cardinal Beasts would be looked for by world leaders for sure, if only because those Masters often serve Diplomats and each of them had done many achievements as balance keepers in history, and thus, can also give the world leaders a one up against others in a political standing if said master specifically chose a country.
That’s just how powerful of an influence that the Cardinal Beasts have, and why those who managed to make a pact with them are considered a big deal to many of the world’s leaders.
The East already had the RSA kid now.
The Southern lands had the Master of the Vermilion Bird who is making a name for herself in the recent news as a promising Magician, in spite of her young age.
The Master of the Black Turtle is stationed in the Northern lands of Twisted Wonderland, and is Valley of Thorns’ diplomat stationed in Pyroxene outside of being the mentor of the Vermilion Bird’s master.
He is currently the one that the world knew to have been the Black Turtle’s master for two centuries due to being a Fae, unlike some of the human and/or beastfolk masters that had been chosen by one of the four Cardinals in history.
That left the Omnivore as a free game as far as Masters of the Cardinal Beasts goes, as the White Tiger that governs the West.
Then there’s what the Blue Dragon is saying, about how the Golden Dragon will wake in the near future...
...He’ll leave all the politicking to Aniki later.
“You always get into troublesome things somehow, Omnivore.”
______________________________________________________________
“Why, this is an unprecedented turn of events.”
Azul adjusted his glasses.
Floyd and Jade grinned beside him in excitement.
The fact that Shiro, the white cat accompanying the Ramshackle Prefect together with Grim-san, is actually one of the Four Cardinal Beasts is unexpected, but his interest is piqued at another piece of information.
“The Golden Dragon, King of the Cardinals, should soon awaken…”
His lips curved to a smirk.
That would be a sight.
______________________________________________________________
“So that rascal of a kitty cat who got tamed by her is actually the White Tiger in disguise and his previous master was the Ramshackle Prefect’s relative? I knew something’s up with her when she showed up out of the blue and added onto her involvement in the recent incidents, this really proves that she’s an Isekai Shounen Manga protagonist… man I’m glad I kept a distance around her over the past months.”
Click, clack.
The sound of the tablet’s keyboard registered to Idia Shroud’s ears.
He furrowed his brows. “...That RSA kid was right. There’s not a single trace of that Prefect’s relative at all outside of the Blue Dragon and White Tiger’s account.”
At the tablet’s screen, it shows:
“No matching records found.”
______________________________________________________________
“You already asked me several times over the past few minutes, Headmaster, I knew nothing of the fact that Yuu Shiina’s White Cat Familiar is actually a Cardinal Beast masquerading as a familiar akin to my Lucius.”
Massaging the temples on his forehead, Mozus Trein let out a sigh at the Headmaster’s repeated questions.
He truly knew nothing about the fact that a Cardinal Beast has been hiding right under their noses as a regular familiar.
And said beast chose the dimensionally displaced student as his master due to the fact that she was actually a relative to his previous master.
All he knew was that the white cat initially arrived in Night Raven College in search of a master three years ago.
...Wait.
Three years ago…
“...If I recall correctly, it was Vanrouge who brought the cat in question when he was enrolled three years ago. Claiming that the cat Familiar belonged to an old friend and it is searching for a new master.”
However, given that the cat is actually a Cardinal Beast in disguise… that could mean-
“...Vanrouge knew the cat’s true identity all along.”
______________________________________________________________
“A Cardinal Beast… that certainly explained the stillness of the air hours ago. I always thought that white cat was far more than he seemed when I saw him in the company of that Child of man from Ramshackle.” Malleus placed a hand under his chin, looking thoughtful.
Sebek stared at the spectacle in disbelief, the conversation and scene of the confrontation between the two masters of the Cardinal Beast is in full view for everyone to see. Be it those in Sage Island and those outside of it.
"To think such a beast had been hiding this whole time… and yet, he didn’t choose Malleus-sama, but that human!”
Sebek felt furious, fist clenched at the thought that his liege was not chosen by the Cardinal Beast.
Silver, on the other hand, scrutinized Lilia. “...You told me that the cat belonged to an old friend.”
Lilia, on his part, blinked. Smiling oh so innocently as Malleus and Sebek now turn towards him. Eyes wide at Silver’s words.
“My, I forgot that I’ve spoken to Silver about it once.”
“...So you knew what the cat actually was all along?”
At Silver’s question, Lilia chuckled in a good natured way. “Why yes, I’ve been long acquainted with him for seventy years.”
“...Then-”
“I wasn’t expecting Kaname’s granddaughter to appear in Twisted Wonderland the way she did after her grandmother left this world all those years ago. And yet, here she was.”
Malleus furrowed his brows. And then his eyes lit up in remembrance. “Now I remember.”
Malleus spoke, recalling the memory. “I often came across a young woman who often visited the castle seventy years ago. However, I was unable to get properly acquainted with said guests with grandmother telling me that she has that woman’s matters handled.”
He concluded. “No wonder the Child of Man seemed familiar.”
Malleus then questioned. “Did you let the beast and child of Man meet because you knew who they are actually related to?”
Lilia shook his head, his smile ever present. “Why, I only nudged my old friend towards the young lady’s direction. It was simply my old friend’s decision to choose her as his master in the end.”
Lilia then walked forward, his eyes gazing at the widescreen of the colosseum where the camera still showed the two masters of the Cardinal Beasts conversing.
“...Why did you go so far and back for her fa-, Lilia-senpai?”
Silver had asked of the question once, out of curiosity, but Silver decided to repeat it again with this new information.
His father never gave Silver a clear answer to why beyond the fact that he felt that the Ramshackle prefect needed it because the Headmaster refused to give her that help beyond the bare minimum.
“...It is the least that I can do for Kaname.”
Malleus, Sebek and Silver watched Lilia smile, his eyes melancholic and solemn as the older fae uttered out the name of his old friend.
______________________________________________________________
“Lilia, that rascal…” On the throne, the olden fae let out an exasperated sigh once she saw the White Tiger through clairvoyant magic, facing off the Blue Dragon.
“...So that little girl is Kaname’s granddaughter.”
The fae’s lips curve to a grin.
The queen internally mused, would this child be anything similar as her grandmother?
A too idealistic yet optimistic fool whose friendliness towards the supernatural earned her a favor of many?
“Perhaps a visit to Night Raven College can be arranged in a few days. I wish to see how Malleus fares as well...”
______________________________________________________________
A pale man with blue locks had his eyes locked onto the wide-screen TV in a luxurious room, his eyes registering what he had just seen and heard.
“Kaname... that’s a name I haven’t heard in a long while.” He murmured.
“What do we do now, Wilhelm?” His partner, a small black land turtle, pondered.
“Hmm, I suppose a little visit to Sage Island won’t hurt. Our diplomatic duties in the Shaftlands at the moment are done anyway.”
______________________________________________________________
The sound of scattered and fallen utensils resounded the dining booth.
“Kalea, what’s wrong!?”
The individual, a blonde haired, caramel skinned girl had her attention firmly on the phone broadcasting the live stream, ignoring her other companions.
The vermillion parakeet perched on her shoulder inquired. “Lady Kalea?”
Kalea did not pay any heed as she registered and take in the sight she saw and what she heard.
The masters of the Blue Dragon and the White Tiger have showed themselves to the world.
“I need to call Master Wilhelm about this...” She murmured with a smile of anticipation curved her lips.
She needs to meet with her fellow masters of cardinal beasts soon.
______________________________________________________________
Anonymous A: Hey is whatever happened in the last legs of the VDC legit?”
fireflower02: Nope, it’s not fake. It’s real. I got a friend studying in RSA and he was there when he saw it all go down. He even gave me live updates over it.
crystallize: Same, my friend’s in NRC and he told me the details of what happened there.
arize: Dude, I was there in person, that magical energy leaking off was off the freaking charts!
Anonymous A: For real?
Anonymous B: Yeah. Who would’ve known that this super powerful Mythical Creature had been hiding this whole time and that the Magicless underdog kid of NRC is the master to one of them?
Anonymous C: Not just that, apparently her grandma used to be the master of her current familiar based on the conversation between the two Cardinal Beasts.
Anonymous B: Damn.
Anonymous A: You make it sound like she’s an Isekai protagonist.
Anonymous C: Apparently, that’s one of the speculations about her origins in NRC, kid’s subject to a hell lot of rumors since her first debut in that interdorm exhibition match. Most of them being baseless actually.
crystallize: Seriously, just who the hell is the kid’s grandma anyway?
______________________________________________________________
Above the skies, deep in the clouds, the King of the Cardinal Beasts stirred.
Still deep in slumber, but soon to wake from his dreamless sleep.
All while a storm is brewing amongst the mortals.
______________________________________________________________
This is going to get a bit long but here I go.
Yes, this was what I was planning in regards to the Natsume Yuujinchou inspiration on Yuu (Rei) and Shiro.
Yuu (Rei)’s dead grandma is basically a more benevolent and adored Natsume Reiko to Yuu (Rei)’s Natsume Takashi back when she’s alive.
Shiro is always meant to be the Nyanko-sensei to Yuu (Rei)’s Natsume.
Now Yuu (Rei) officially went from “Irrelevant magicless student turned technical magician” to “VERY relevant, master of one of the Cardinal Beasts, potential political ally, relative of a royal family’s friend, CAN’T BE KICKED OUT UNLESS YOU WANT POLITICAL BACKLASH” for Crowley.
Irony at it’s finest.
And yes, this was what led to the events of “you lose at zero trust”. Crowley tries to make amends because he only realized now that he fucked up big time with Yuu (Rei) because she kept way too many things from him now, added onto the fact that she is now officially very relevant to the world of Twisted Wonderland now.
Only it backfired because Yuu (Rei) had lost all trust in him by that point to consider or accept that he started to care after leaving her be for so long, plus the fact that he still treats Yuu (Rei) as if she’s the canon MC, your regular joe and jane who got brought out to the middle of nowhere and would rather go back home instead of learning about Yuu (Rei) the individual.
Crowley choosing a really bad timing to try and make amends isn’t really helping his case either.
If it’s any other time, Yuu (Rei) wouldn’t have snapped as badly as she did in “you lose at zero trust”, and she may still give Crowley a chance, but Crowley blew it up completely by picking a bad timing.
So yeah.
I wanted to write something like this with a Twisted Wonderland twist for the mythical Four Gods so this is also what makes “black or white” a complete AU from canon.
This is also going to be connected to what I mention a while back, that Bravely Default is a huge inspiration Yuu (Rei)’s story.
(Bravely Default spoilers ahead)
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
To sum it up, Crowley is to Yuu (Rei), the Airy to her Warriors of Light.
In Bravely Default, Airy is introduced as a supporting character who help the heroes. However, getting to the climax reveals that Airy, who is based on the typical RPG helper fairy, is actually working for the true villain of the game and is manipulating the heroes (and the player by extension) for her plans.
The end of Pomefiore in “black or white” would be what I consider as the turning point.
At any rate, Crowley is the Airy to Yuu (Rei) that he wants to manipulate and get something out of Yuu (Rei)’s presence but ultimately couldn’t get that now that Yuu (Rei) had grown too important to Twisted Wonderland at large.
(Bravely Default spoilers end)
Also:
Wilhelm and Kalea are new OC’s who are involved in the Cardinal lore and Yaolan too.
I’ll be posting about them soon.
Anyway, that’s all for now!

(inhales) Alright.
I’m currently on the third semester for my first Persona 5 Royal run and with much ideas for “tabula rasa”, I also got a crossover AU idea for black or white which I shall dub as “murder siblings au” where Goro is adopted into Yuu (Rei)’s family.
(Placed right under the cut for story spoilers for P5R and some future plans for black or white. Also this is going to be long.)
Pre- P5R timeline:
In this AU, Goro is adopted into Yuu (Rei)’s family all the way out at Hokkaido at age 10, 2 years after his mom passed away.
Yuu (Rei) is a 2004 baby which makes her 6 years younger than Goro.
Goro, who had already gone through a few foster homes already thought the Shiina couldn’t be any different from his previous ones.
It took a few months but Goro eventually warmed up to them because they had been so kind to him, even after he opened up to being an illegitimate kid. And he had changed his surname to Shiina out of respect for his adoptive family at this time.
He especially bonded with Yuu (Rei) the fastest because she actually helps Goro find some closer with his mother by pointing and talking to his biological mother’s ghost.
He didn’t learn about the fact that the Shiina family and its family tree are practically cursed to have supernatural abilities due to being descended from a Kamikakushi returnee (Yuu (Rei)’s grandmother)) until he is old enough to actually question why Yuu (Rei) and some of his adoptive family members are born with it.
At any rate, another family member that Goro is close to is his adoptive granny and he is especially fond of her because she is just so nice and loving.
Unfortunately, granny died when Goro is 14 and Yuu (Rei) is 8.
Goro grieves, but Yuu (Rei) took the worst because grandma’s death is the first reminder for Yuu (Rei) about human mortality.
This time, it’s Goro’s turn to help Yuu (Rei) out and slowly, he helped her find some closure regarding her grandmother’s death.
Things are peaceful and nice. Goro wished that things stay that way.
And then he had awakened to Loki and Robin Hood due to Yaldabaoth, and then Shido found him with all the intentions of manipulating him but Goro saw through it and refused since he already had a family that he gave a damn about now.
Then Shido brought in the big guns and threatened Goro by putting his adoptive family, especially Yuu (Rei), as leverage and hostage for Goro to work for him or the lives of his adoptive family are forfeit.
So Goro is literally forced to work for Shido and had no choice in the matter lest his adoptive family gets killed.
Goro moves back to Tokyo under the guise of a Tokyo highschool scholarship (Under Shido’s name) but Yuu (Rei) thought something is a miss right from the start but couldn’t do much yet to act on it.
So a year after Goro moved to Tokyo, she saw him gaining fame as “Detective Prince” and took his old surname of Akechi that Yuu (Rei) went “I knew something is fishy!”
Yuu (Rei) called for her older cousins living in Tokyo and ask if the offer to have her stay with them and study in Tokyo is still up (They made the offer to help Yuu (Rei) out from her situation at school because she is shunned for her ability to see the dead and her cousins really wanted to help her.)
Yuu (Rei) moved to Tokyo, chaperoned by her older cousins with a goal of wanting to find her older adoptive brother for answers.
P5R timeline proper:
Due to transfer problems, Yuu (Rei) was only able to get enrolled to a school in Tokyo around 2016 which I set to be the year P5R took place, so Yuu (Rei) had to wait and endure another school year back in Hokkaido.
However, Goro is so busy with his “Idol” persona crafted by Shido in this AU, on top of his hitman job and metaverse explorations, that Yuu (Rei) never actually found him.
He also never got to see or knew about Yuu (Rei) moving to Tokyo because he tried to keep his contact with his adoptive family as little as possible lest Shido and his goons get ideas to bring them into the fold and endanger their safety even more than usual.
Yuu (Rei) did, however, meet the Phantom Thieves in their real life guises in separate occasions and spoke of her goal of wanting to find her brother. However, neither party connected that Akechi Goro is the “brother” that Yuu (Rei) is looking for and the fact that Yuu (Rei) somehow always missed seeing Goro.
So yes, Yuu (Rei) befriended the ghost parents of the Phantom Thieves and ask them for help instead, which includes Isshiki Wakaba and Yusuke’s mom.
Kobayakawa, after his death, kinda got directed to her because Yuu (Rei) had formed a network of ghost informants via Wakaba and Yusuke’s mom over the months of her stay in Tokyo and Yuu (Rei) learned the truth indirectly of her adoptive brother being under Shido’s employ but they don’t know why yet, especially since Wakaba didn’t tell Yuu (Rei) about Persona’s and Metaverse stuff yet since she feared Yuu (Rei) going reckless in her confrontation with her brother in her need for answers.
Then December 3, Akechi entered the Metaverse in his rush to stop the Phantom Thieves from getting a hit on Shido since he still wanted to be the one to personally put an end to the man and Yuu (Rei), who finally saw her brother for the first time, followed after him and entered Shido’s palace because she was close by when he activated the Metanav.
By the time Yuu (Rei) caught up to Goro... he just got beaten by the thieves and Shido’s cognitive Akechi showed up.
It’s a really bad, bad timing for him to show up and then hold her captive, gloating smugly about why Goro actually works for Shido.
Goro is pissed and also torn because of the fact that his adoptive sister is actually here in Tokyo and is looking for him and it took a lot of restraint for him to stay put lest Shido’s cognitive Akechi actually shoots her.
But instead, the unexpected happened.
Yuu (Rei), fed up with being left out of the loop, feeling helpless and refusing to die here, awakens to a Persona in response.
Yuu (Rei) awakens to Ibaraki-Douji as her first Persona.
None of the thieves are happy at the development. Though she was able to manage to fight back, her young age and smaller physique means that she gets easily hurt and it prompted the thieves to step in and help, Goro included.
Since Yuu (Rei) is younger, she literally passed out and had to be tended in a safe room with Goro and Futaba getting answers to why she is in the Palace in the first place.
Goro actually got time to talk and clarify how he actually got entangled with Shido while waiting for her to wake up.
It was a fucked up situation and conflict with no right or wrong answer in hindsight.
On one hand, Futaba and Haru both still had a right to be mad at Goro for killing their respective parents.
On the other hand, knowing that Goro literally got his hands forced because Shido threatened the well being of the one adoptive family who actually gave a damn about him changed their impressions of the detective prince.
When Yuu (Rei) wakes up, both brother and sister had a long talk, shouting matches and all, mostly out of worry for the other.
But at the end of it all, they come to an understanding and promise to not keep anymore secrets with each other.
That said, Yuu (Rei) is still banned from joining the thieves because she is too young for the Phantom thieves to consider getting a help from and they rather prefer that she stay away from Metaverse business as much as possible.
And then the third semester happened and Yuu (Rei) forces her way in because she can’t stand being left out.
Post P5R and Pre-Twst:
Goro tried to turn himself in to atone for his crimes and to pay back a debt to Akira (Joker’s real name in this AU).
Goro’s initial sentence was 5 years of juvenile prison.
However, this was later changed because Shido’s change of heart completely altered and cause complications to how Goro and Sae are going to prosecute and condemn Shido for his massive crimes because Shido claimed that he killed Akechi Goro, and the one that is brought to the police station is a Akechi Goro’s look alike, a Hokkaido boy named Shiina Goro.
Goro is not pleased because he still had crimes that he wanted to atone, since he values accountability among other things that he valued such as freedom of choice, but if he didn’t agree to this testimony, then Shido won’t stay in jail.
So Goro, Sae and the thieves begrudgingly agree to this narrative so Shido will rot in jail forever.
Even Goro admits that it left a bitter taste in his mouth to not be able to get to be able to atone for his crimes but he at least manage to accomplish getting payback at Shido for his threat and his adoptive family left safe.
Despite things being over, Yuu (Rei) decided that she’d like to stay in Tokyo with her cousins instead of heading back to Hokkaido because things were already bad back home because the area she lived in is still prejudiced against her for being “abnormal” but she actually now had people she care about in Tokyo.
Goro decided to head back to Hokkaido because he needs some time away from Tokyo to heal and he needs to talk with his adoptive parents and baby brothers again.
Not sure about whether or not I want to include Strikers in but things are relatively peaceful for the most part as Goro and Yuu (Rei) adjust to regular lives and getting along better with the Phantom Thieves.
And then comes April 2020.
On the day Yuu (Rei) and Goro went back to Hokkaido to visit their grandma’s grave, the ebony carriage appeared and Goro watches Yuu (Rei) being brought away right in front of his eyes.
Twst timeline Proper:
I admit there hasn’t been a lot of thought for this but Yuu (Rei) is literally brought to Twisted Wonderland and start her journey as the new Wild Card of Twisted Wonderland.
Goro had to strong arm and get the Velvet Room attendants to let him see her once he was told about this information.
However, Goro is on the condition that he is not allowed to interfere in Yuu (Rei)’s wild card journey unless necessary and prompted.
Goro begrudgingly agreed to the condition just so long that he can see his adoptive sister.
They reunited... post Heartslabyul where Yuu (Rei) already awakened as a wild card, forming a team with Riddle as the first Persona user to join her, and then he proceeds to judge the rest of the cast because of the knowledge that Yuu (Rei) got thrown into a magical all-boys school.
Cue Goro menacingly smiling with the hidden message of “Touch my sister and you’re fucking dead.”
Yeah, that’s about it but I honestly started writing and thinking the idea out because I thought it’ll be fun to write Yuu (Rei) and Akechi as adoptive siblings with the dynamic of “Looks like pleasant and polite people but are secretly bloodthirsty and feral in different ways”.
Hence, murder siblings.
Anyway that’s all for now!

Note
how does yuu feel about magic in general
Thanks for the ask!
For that, Yuu (Rei) grew up her whole life surrounded by the supernatural and felt that she belonged there than she belonged with the regular humans.
When she was brought to Twisted Wonderland, she is neutral about it.
She used to love the supernatural but as she grew up, she starts to understand the pro's and cons of supernatural abilities and powers beyond comprehension like magic.
She can see why magic could be convenient, but by the time she's brought to Twisted Wonderland, she understood the weight and responsibility of what wielding such power brings.
Yuu (Rei) taking Lilia's offer to teach her how to borrow magic from the world is initially done out of practicality on her part, but she does enjoy a bit of the ease it brings.
But she never forgets that with great power, comes great responsibility.

if yuu had a criminal record what would be on there
oh welp this isn't a question i expected, haha
Still a very interesting question though!
Hmm so I alluded an incident in "black bird" where she rendered a man brain dead, the context is that it had to do with one of Yuu (Rei)'s ventures in dealing with the deceased and it's to solve something that the man in question had been doing behind closed doors.
She fought back in self defense and the ghosts helped cover her tracks as gratitude for solving and stopping the man, but if they didn't and Yuu (Rei) was found for it, Yuu (Rei) would have been charged with excessive self-defense (Japanese laws still believe that murder is murder even if it's done in self-defense)
But yeah, that's about it!

Shuuuu tell me about our fave girl Yuu(rei) 😘 🍓 & 🍍!
ohh interesting prompts you picked there. 👀
🍓 [STRAWBERRY] How do they feel about 'cute' things?
Yuu (Rei)'s okay with them but she's more partial to "Cool" than "Cute". She'd still buy plushies of her favorite animals and Pokemon but that's about it.
Most of Yuu (Rei)'s casual attire are on the "Cool and street fashion inspired" with a handful of exceptions like formal attire and dresses.
🍍 [PINEAPPLE] Pineapple on pizza or not?
No pineapple on pizza for her. She likes her Pizza savory and if there's cheese, chewy.

yuu should be allowed to murder as a treat
Oh.
Oh dear Anon, she already got her permission for murder :)
So yes I agree she can be blood thirsty and can murder as a treat, its a matter of restraint that everyone else is worried about.
Crewel would instead complain that she should murder with much more finesse and grace lol (yes he'd support his student's murdering, especially if Yuu (Rei) snaps for a justified reason, he just want less blood to clean up)
On a less serious note, most of Yuu (Rei)'s friends are down for it when prompted.
Floyd and Jade are the biggest "Let sharky/Yuu-san go feral and have a bloody murder" advocates by the way.

Some "black or white" stuff but while thinking of the potential ending for this fic, there were actually two scenario's I thought about?
First ending is still something I'm keeping under wraps about at the moment but it's the one that I decide to be the true and final ending for "black or white".
The second one... I dub it as the "Time travel ception" ending
(Placed under the cut for future scenario and spoilers)
The ending is half inspired from the Gintama movie "Yorozuya yo Eien nare" and also the Korean webcomic "flow" which had a concept of everyone having a supernatural animal spirit but only a few are selected to have the spirit of the Four cardinal beasts.
To not spoil much, Yuu (Rei) borrowed magic from the world and also from Shiro due to needing his power as a mythical beast to turn back time to one year back to her arrival in Twisted Wonderland when beating an overblotted Grim seemed impossible as everyone's been downed and there's no telling when reinforcements could arrive.
A little something about Shiro is that beyond his control of the earth and metal and connection to the fall, for this story, each mythical beast had a secondary set of powers that help keep the balance of the world and Shiro has an ability connected to time.
Since time related magic is fragile because one wrong step can do something wrong, Shiro is the only one that can wield and use the power to control time safely but even he and the masters he chose still need to follow the time and dimensional clause to a degree.
So Yuu (Rei), now with memories of the one year that happened along with Shiro, went out of their way to avoid meeting with anyone from Night Raven College to take refuge in the now defunct Ramschakle dorm.
But Yuu (Rei) cuts her contract with Shiro and borrowed magic from the world to erase herself and Grim from existence so none of the events such as the overblots and Grim's eventual overblot will come to pass.
Grim, who doesn't know anything was fighting his way out that he doesn't want to be erased but Yuu (Rei) kept firm, hugging Grim tight as the magic takes effect and says.
"Don't worry Grim, we'll go together. As if we never existed in the first place."
And just like that, Yuu (Rei) and Grim disappeared with only Shiro and the Ramshackle ghosts being the witnesses who remembered them.
The magic was felt all over the island since it's world changing, but once the effect takes place, they forgot it ever happened.
However, things started to get strange.
Riddle acted a lot more lenient than he was supposed to, having flashbacks of the failed Unbirthday party and of someone telling him that "There's no right or wrong answer" to rules and how he should stand up to his two feet to try and make things right.
Ace and Deuce remembered going through that event with someone but didn't remember who.
Flashes of the original timeline bleeds, an unintended side effect to the time travel and some, which I'll cover in a bit.
As the year goes by, the main casts and some of the staff remember things being a little different and find it odd... until the one year mark passed.
Ace and Deuce decided to go to the abandoned dorm as a small dare to commemorate finishing their first year but that's when things went a little odd.
They see flashes of someone being there and the dorm is not abandoned but felt like a second home to someone.
So they entered and lying on the floor of the unused dorm's lounge, is a pocket watch.
Ace held it curiously and then the magic activated.
And they remember.
"Don't worry you guys, I can finish this, I'll handle this." "Yuu, what are you doing-"
They finally remembered what truly occurred and got their answer.
"What... what the fuck Yuu!? We didn't ask for this! We didn't ask for a future where you're not here!"
The rest of the students, everyone that Yuu (Rei) had befriended, all headed for Ramshackle and saw Ace and Deuce knelt down the ground, makeup smudged and messed up with tears, holding onto the pocket watch that is still emitting magic.
Lilia recognized the pocket watch.
"That's the pocket watch I once received from Kaname... I had wondered why it was not among my possessions and I thought I misplaced it."
Now the ghosts and Shiro finally showed up and reveal that they knew what had occurred but kept it quiet because that's what Yuu (Rei) wanted.
The pocket watch was a gift from Kaname to Lilia, and Lilia decided to hand it over to Yuu (Rei) as a memento of her grandma after Shiro's true identity as the White Tiger and connection to grandma is unveiled.
The pocket watch becomes a magic conduit to keep the magic contained and running but it's a bit unstable, leading to the casts remembering the original timeline.
Since the overblots didn't happen at all, everyone involved comes up with a way to time travel back to the moment before Yuu (Rei) and Grim disappeared.
Malleus had enough magic to spare since he never overblotted and with Shiro's help, they all went back in time to stop Yuu (Rei) from disappearing.
Then they blink their eyes, they are back to the start of the year, during the entrance ceremony.
And everyone who remembered proceed to skedaddle out there and headed for Ramshackle.
They stopped Yuu (Rei) from activating or starting the magic, got there in time.
Ace and Deuce arrived first, magic pens pointing towards her.
"Ace? Deuce? "We remember, Yuu." "Remember? What... you shouldn't be-" "Oh we are NOT letting you play yourself as a self-sacrificial martyr!"
Long story, short, everyone caught up and after lots of talking and reasoning, stopped Yuu (Rei) from disappearing.
Grim, on the other hand, is damn confused to what's happening and the only gist he later got is that he will destroy Night Raven College in the future and thus, shouldn't actually be allowed to study in the first place.
"I haven't done any of that here! Why should it matter that I'd be some future bad guy!?"
In the end they allow Grim to stay after much talking because they all also remembered a time when Grim's an innocent individual, before he got corrupted by the crystalized blot he kept eating.
And it's unfair to judge him for that.
So the time-travel ception ending ends with everyone being mostly safe and sound, remembering everything.
The cons is that they all had to repeat the year. LOL
The staff also remembered but Crewel already got first dibs on taking in Yuu (Rei) as his ward before Crowley could and everyone else is gonna be weirded out at the newly changed self but things are okay.
But yeah, that's what I got for the time-travel ception ending!
The actual "black or white" story had a different ending that I ultimately liked better so this is an alternate ending of sorts that I'm willing to share bits about!
