My new flatmate

So, last night I went to look at the flat. It’s pretty decent actually. Sherlock had already moved in so it was a bit of a mess but that ’s actually a nice change from where I was before.

And the madman himself? He’s fascinating…

Arrogant, imperious, pompous. He’s not safe, I know that much. I’m not going to be bored and I doubt we’re going to be arguing about whose turn it is to pay the gas bill or what we’re going to watch on the telly. And yeah, he is probably most likely definitely mad. But, he knows a couple of nice restaurants so he’s not all bad.

So yes, we had a quick look at the flat and chatted to the landlady. Then the police came and asked Sherlock to look at a body so we went along to a crime scene, then we chased through the streets of London after a killer and Sherlock solved the serial suicides/murder thing.

And then we went to this great Chinese restaurant where my fortune cookie said ‘There is nothing new under the sun. It has all been done before. ’ After the night I’d had, I beg to differ.

Would you consider yourself a hero?

I am a consulting detective, not a hero. Heroes don't exist, and if they did I would not be one of them. The concept of heroes is quite ridiculous anyway, as it probably means someone who 'just does good' but no one does just good, even the best people do things that are not so good sometimes, thus heroes don't exist. And the concepts of good and bad are individual, quite changeable and inherently subjective, thus who is considered a hero is also subjective and changeable and not definitive.

experience: omegle, probably sixth or seven grade. then also email, cause you know - you transfer rp's from omegle when someone has to go. and then like 8th or 9th grade onward i used tumblr. i also rp'd before any of this on fb with my school friends, me and my friend stevie would do sherlock rp's. i also have a degree in writing for film and tv, w. a 3.8 gpa.

preferred roleplay type: novella / para but there's also something to be said about all lengths. sometime it isn't as easy to go off, but i tend to want to anyway. plotted stuff is usually gonna get more excitement from me, but it's not the end all be all. i'm super easy, even with waiting a long time, as long as there's some kind of consistency.

pet peeves & dealbreakers: expecting me to write with your oc's when you don't care about mine. uhhhh, idk any like super toxic ooc behavior is gross. there's also purist culture, and the notion that if you write something you're condoning it rather than just exploring something using a safe medium. people who complain about no interactions (mostly when they never do anything anyway). favoritism. really really really small icons.... apparently also we have to change every canon fc now, lol.

plot or memes: both! plotting is always super fun, and it's great to get super into an idea and to move forward with it... but memes can be fun surprises that get us out of our zone, and can lead to some super fun relationships / dynamics that you never would have thought of, otherwise.

What's the worse motivation for a crime in your opinion and why: jealousy, revenge or money?

That is quite a complex question, given that each crime and motivator can vary greatly, or how to measure which one is the 'worst' motivator. Would it be measured quantitatively, how many crimes are committed due to this motivation, which makes it the worst? Or would it be more qualitatively, how severe a crime itself would be motivated by a factor? Quantitatively, money and other financial gains are the most common motivators for crimes. But in those cases it's mostly theft, so for most people that would be considered less severe. But of course jealousy can often be combined with money as a motivator, when someone is jealous of someone else's wealth and steals it. But of course many crimes motivated by money can end lethal, killing for profit, but in general they are less violent, although obviously there are exceptions for everything.

In my personal experience, crimes motivated by emotions like jealousy or revenge are more violent and thus considered worse for most people. When emotions are involved it's more personal, it's about hurting the person directly, not just stealing money from them but to completely destroy them, especially in cases of revenge. Jealousy would rather motivate someone to take something away from a person, while revenge targets the person itself. Emotions make people much more volatile and aggressive, and especially when it's revenge people go to extreme lengths to achieve their goal. For some people it becomes an obsession, an idée fixe that makes them do everything to make their target pay.

If someone aims to just kill someone for money, most criminals would just stab one time to kill them, but when it's a crime of passion fuelled by revenge and fury they will stab many more times because the goal is not just to kill them, but to hurt them, make them suffer and get their aggression out of their system, pent up hatred and anger that might have been accumulated for years.

So my answer would be revenge being the worst motivator, measured by violence of the crime.

For the past five years, it has been iterations of A Song of Ice and Fire (the book canon, Game of Thrones, and House of the Dragon). Prior to that, I've written fics for Sailor Moon, Gundam Wing, Kingdom Hearts, Fushigi Yuugi, High School Musical, RENT, The Dresden Files, Harry Potter, Glee, and BBC Sherlock.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Even before I started writing in the ASOIAF fandom, I did tend to write bittersweet endings. Loss and grief is a fascinating frame of reference for an otherwise happy ending and I've always liked being able to write about those conflicting emotions. That said, it was probably never let me go.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Haha, lmao—this is definitely the silhouette of a single memory and its adjoining prompt ficlets.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

My canon divergent fics for Game of Thrones sometimes get the rare grumpy butt but honestly, I pay too much in taxes to be bothered by someone trying to be snide behind the anonymity of a computer screen.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Sure? I think my smut is pretty tame compared to a lot of stuff I read but I do write it.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

Yes, I've written plenty. Sailor Moon/Gundam Wing and Game of Thrones/The Vampire Diaries might be the craziest though, considering how ridiculously dissimilar the two canon sources are.

Not that I know of.

Yes and no. My old RP partner @lyrangalia and I used to email RP during slow days at work and through that was born the AMD and Silvered Lightning universes. But since these technically never started as fic, then it's kind of in that weird uncategorized space.

14. What’s your all time favourite ship?

All time? I'm not sure if I have a single one that takes the top spot. I've liked Tomberly (MMPR), Willabeth (POTC), Neal/Sara (White Collar), Parker/Eliot/Hardison (Leverage), and Jonerys (ASOIAF) but I love them all equally.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Hands down, Arcana. The reason I won't finish it is because I fell out of love with the source material (it didn't age well) and the author of said source material (he's kind of an asshole!). I do still love the character that this fic revolves around and it's removed enough from the source material that I could finish it but...

16. What are your writing strengths?

Characterization and dialogue, probably? Who knows.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Characterization and dialogue, lmao.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

Eh. It can be done and I've done it a few times honestly. I don't make a habit of it because it's just a bit of a headache to translate.
