Coaster Maynia 2024 Day 29 - SheiKra
“Divelves are an earth born humanoid species with long pointed/angular ears and features, and tend to be incredibly tall. Their hair grows fast and long, twisting around their bodies and seeming to stay in place, almost by magic. They are an uncommon people to find, but easy to identify with their stark features.
Shivika was a confident and brave Divelf that found herself affected by the anomalies, giving her the power of flight and to create whirlwinds as she twisted through the air. She took advantage of these powers and used them to not only fight those that threatened her people, but also create energy to power various devices with wind power. She knows Odin Yin, a fellow Divelf who is a bit shorter than the average male of his kind, and tends to tease him a bit about this fact, but it’s all in good fun.”
Was drawing her design from scratch initially when i got the strangest de ja vu and then I remembered…I have always had a design for her! Tried to pretty much keep her as she originally was, with the change of making her hair follow the direction of the track a bit more and adding some neck feather decoration. Had to redraw an old illustration as well that I did when I first ever drew her, which involved her being taller than Odin! I have finally decided that Odin and her are a specific species, not sure on the name but I cant think of anything else at the moment. Just know they are a humanoid race, but not humans! They aren’t aliens though, as they are an earth born species!

Dorney Park! - 5/19/21
Decided to not let this trip report have a two week long gap like my Great America post did, so I'll write it out now!
Made my first trip of the year to Dorney Park this past weekend! I went by myself for about 5 hours or so and got on everything I had wanted to ride. Lines were very minimal, with the longest (not accounting for a short maintenance delay) being maybe 20 mins. Got a bunch of re-rides on the park's major coasters and I'm sure I'll be able to get more later in the summer, since Dorney is my home park lol. But here are some pics I got, and then like for my Great America post, thoughts about my individual rides will be below them!

Here's my breakdown of what I rode!
Iron Menace - Coaster Credit #169! (Rode twice) I am so glad Dorney finally got a brand new coaster after so long! Their last new coaster was Stinger in 2012 (which was a relocation, and closed in 2018), and their last custom built coaster was Hydra way back in 2005 (Possessed, opened in 2008, was also a relocation). I really liked Iron Menace for what it was though! It looks absolutely FANTASTIC for it's plot of land, and it's directly in front of you as you drive into the park. Makes for a fantastic first impression! The ride itself was pretty much what I expected (in a good way), it's definitely the weakest of the three dive coasters I've ridden, since it doesn't have the scale of Valravn and Sheikra, but I thought it had some fun elements and some surprisingly strong positive forces. The main downside is that it's a short ride, at only maybe 40 seconds or so after the drop. But all things considered, I think it's a great fit for Dorney and I LOVE it's theme! The Steelyard area around it looks pretty good as well! Currently, I have Iron Menace at 56th in my rankings between Flight Deck at California's Great America, and Medusa at Six Flags Great Adventure, but that could be subject to change once I decide if I like this or Hydra more lol.
Steel Force - (Rode twice) I'd heard during the park's Winter Chill Out event back in March that they we're speeding up the chain lift on Steel Force this year since (I believe) they had gotten a new lift motor or something to that effect, so I was excited to see how it rode this year. I didn't really notice a significant difference in the speed or airtime, but that wasn't a huge deal to me since I really enjoy Steel Force. A lot of people give it and the other Morgan hypers flack for not having any airtime, and I just don't see that. I always get tons of air over this hills, especially on the return trip. Then the double helix turnaround acts as a good change of pace with some good positives. So Steel Force still retains it's place as my favorite at the park.
Thunderhawk - (Rode once) Thunderhawk is a ride that's had my opinions on it change a lot over the years. When I first rode it the first time I went to Dorney in 2012, I did not like it. I remember it being really rough and uncomfortable. Over the last few years though, the park has been doing a really good job taking care of it and it's running really well now. My ride this time had surprisingly strong airtime, which I was not expecting. The main problem I had this time, and why I only rode it once, was because I got stapled BAD and the surprisingly strong airtime made for a rather uncomfortable experience lol. But for a ride that's celebrating it's 100th birthday this year, it's still really solid I'd say.
Hydra the Revenge - (Rode twice) Hydra is such a weird little ride but I love it. Lots of funky inversions, especially for a floorless coaster, and you gotta love the hangtime on the jojo roll out of the station. It's running a little shaky this year but not too bad as long as you keep your head forward, as is the case with a lot of B&M loopers. That's nothing new for Hydra as well, since in my experience it's always had a bit of a rattle. I love how dynamic its forces are though between hangtime, airtime, positives and a little bit of whip coming down the first drop in the back row. At the moment, I'm not sure if I'd take it over Iron Menace as my third fav in the park, so that's something I'll have to think about next time I'm back there lol
Talon - (Rode once) I really enjoy Talon as well, which finds itself as my second fav in the park after Steel Force. Very snappy and forceful inversions and it still runs pretty smooth. I especially love the super intense high banked turn right up against the ground towards the end of the ride. The one thing that's a little disappointing is that the park took out the signs underneath you as you go up the lift hill. They were spaced out and said thing like "Going up" "No turning back!" "Getting closer..." as you went up the lift hill, with the last one at the crest saying "Goodbye!" as you go over the drop. They didn't affect the actual ride at all, but I thought they were a funny little thing the park decided to put in. They may have removed them prior to this year, since I didn't go to Dorney a lot between 2020 and now, but this is the first time I noticed it at least. Anways, gotta love Talon, real solid invert all around. I would've rode it more than once, but it got a bit of a longer line towards the end of my visit that I didn't feel like waiting in lol
Possessed - (Rode once) I've never been a huge fan of Intamin's Impulse coasters, and I've always thought Possessed was just kind of okay. It's got a fun launch, and since I was sitting towards the back row, the feeling of height looking straight down on the vertical back spike was pretty cool, but other than that, the ride doesn't do a whole lot for me. I wished the holding break on the vertical spike still worked like it used to, that would make the ride a bit more unique at least, but it's still fine enough without it.
Other than the coasters, I rode two other rides, both of them being drop towers lol. One was Dominator, the park's 200 foot S&S drop tower. I rode the shot side that blasts you up to free fall down and I thought it was way more tame than I remembered, which was unfortunate. Then the other drop tower I rode was Demon Drop, which is one of the very few rides out there that still kinda wigs me out lmao. Something about the moving forward from the lift shaft to the drop track and the fact that the ride looks, sounds, and feels like it's made of sheet metal still kinda gets to me lol. I love it though, and for as rare of a ride that it is, being the last of it's kind in the country, if it's running, you gotta give it a ride.
So overall, I had a fun time at Dorney! It's not the biggest or best park in the world by any means, but it serves its purpose as a regional theme park well and offers things that are fairly unique from other area parks like Hersheypark, Knoebels and Great Adventure. Once the waterpark opens for the season (they were having their season passholder preview day when I was there), then it becomes more of a full day park, since their waterpark is really solid. So I'm sure I'll get back later this summer and you'll get another post full of my ramblings lmao.

🦁🎢 Um Dia Selvagem no Busch Gardens Tampa: Montanhas-Russas, Girafas e Emoção Sem Filtro
🎢 Parte 1: As Montanhas-Russas Que Vão Sacudir Seu Corpo (e Sua Alma)
🦒 Parte 2: Natureza, Bichos Gigantes e Muita Fofura
🍔 Parte 3: Pausa Pra Comer e Recarregar
✨ Parte 5: Vale a Pena Mesmo?

Best Things To Do in Tampa: A Traveler’s Guide!
When I first arrived in Tampa, I was eager to explore everything this vibrant city had to offer. From the sunny weather to the rich cultural scene, Tampa is full of surprises. But with so much to see and do, it can be tough to know where to start. Here’s my guide to the best things to do in Tampa that will make your trip unforgettable.

Problem: Overwhelmed by Tampa’s Attractions
Tampa is a city that has something for everyone—beautiful beaches, thrilling amusement parks, and a lively downtown area. When I was planning my trip, I felt overwhelmed by the number of options. Should I spend my time exploring the city’s natural beauty, or should I dive into its cultural offerings? I wanted to make sure I experienced the best of Tampa without missing out on anything important.
Agitation: The Fear of Missing Out
I didn’t want to be that traveler who left Tampa without seeing its top attractions. I remember feeling anxious that I might miss out on something amazing. After all, no one wants to return home with regrets, especially when there’s so much to explore. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by all the choices and wonder if you’re making the right decision on where to spend your time.
Solution: Top Picks for the Best Things to Do in Tampa
To help you make the most of your trip, here are my top recommendations for the best things to do in Tampa:
1. Visit Busch Gardens
Busch Gardens is a must-visit for thrill-seekers. This African-themed amusement park spans over 335 acres and is home to some of the most exciting roller coasters in the country. I spent an entire day here, riding coasters like the Iron Gwazi and SheiKra, and taking in the park's animal exhibits. Tickets start around $90, but it’s worth it for the adrenaline rush and the chance to see animals like giraffes, zebras, and tigers up close.
2. Explore the Tampa Riverwalk
The Tampa Riverwalk is a 2.6-mile pedestrian path that winds along the Hillsborough River. I loved starting my morning here, strolling along the water, and soaking in the sights. The Riverwalk is free to access, and there’s plenty to see, including public art installations, parks, and local restaurants. For those who enjoy biking, there are bikes available for rent, which is a great way to cover more ground.
3. Discover Ybor City
Ybor City is Tampa’s historic district, known for its vibrant nightlife and Cuban heritage. Walking down 7th Avenue, I felt transported back in time, with the old cigar factories and brick-lined streets. Don’t miss the Ybor City Museum State Park, where you can learn about the area’s history and its significance as the “Cigar Capital of the World.” I also recommend trying a Cuban sandwich from La Segunda Bakery—it’s an experience in itself!
4. Visit the Florida Aquarium
For families or anyone interested in marine life, the Florida Aquarium is a fantastic destination. Located in the Channel District, the aquarium is home to more than 14,000 animals and plants. I spent a few hours here, marveling at the coral reefs and watching the playful otters. Admission is around $30, and it’s an educational and fun experience for visitors of all ages.
5. Relax at Clearwater Beach
Just a short drive from Tampa, Clearwater Beach is the perfect spot to unwind. I loved spending my afternoons here, feeling the soft white sand between my toes and enjoying the clear blue waters. It’s consistently ranked as one of the top beaches in the U.S., and I can see why. Parking can be tricky, so I recommend arriving early to secure a spot. The sunsets here are breathtaking—definitely stay to watch if you can.
Conclusion: Making the Most of Your Time in Tampa
Tampa is a city that offers a little bit of everything, from thrilling adventures to relaxing beach days. By following this guide, you'll get to experience the best things to do in Tampa and make the most of your visit. Whether you're here for a short trip or a longer stay, there's something for everyone in this dynamic city. So, pack your bags, plan your itinerary, and get ready to explore Tampa like never before!

Busch Gardens Williamsburg April, October, and December 2023 Trip Reports
This is another late post and a combination of my thoughts from three separate trips throughout 2023.

1) Pantheon - 10 rides -- This ride doesn't get the love it deserves. The beginning with the slow zero-g winder isn't my favorite, but I'd say it's better than a pure hangtime element (i.e. the Jojo roll on Copperhead Strike). The ride really begins for me with the second launch, which has some good kick to it. I love the feeling of rolling back down the top hat. But my god, the star of the ride is the backwards launch into the two small hills that give two abrupt, sharp pops of backwards ejector airtime. It's a sensation like no other. The feeling of the train climbing higher and higher up the spike, while the ground gets farther and farther away is incredible, but being in the back car is a must to fully appreciate this element. Then another punchy launch sends the train over those small hills again, providing some more quick moments of ejector air. Then the train finally goes over the top hat, which provides fantastic, sustained floater in the back row. My second and third favorite elements on the ride are two RMC-influenced elements. First, the outward banked hill that gives the most sustained moment of airtime on the ride, and then a quality zero-g stall, which provides an incredible feeling of weightlessness. The ride finishes strong with a quick, side-to-side S-bend that conjures up thoughts of I-305 (but obviously much tamer), followed by a small wave turn that gives one more great pop of airtime before you hit the breaks. This is an incredible ride that I guess just gets overshadowed by Velocicoaster, which I still haven't gotten the chance to ride.

2) Alpengeist - 13 rides -- This could honestly be my favorite ride in the park, depending on the day. I go back and forth between Alpengeist and Pantheon. I also can never truly decide if Afterburn or Alpengeist is my favorite B&M invert. But I would like to formally say, in honor of all the Youtube thoosies who will never see this post, Alpengeist shits all over Montu. Anyway, this is the tallest B&M invert, five feet away from being a hyper coaster, and it shows, as you absolutely barrel down the drop, gaining a speed that feels like more than 67 mph. This speed makes the Immelman and the vertical loop feel more forceful than on other inverts. But the speed at which you enter the cobra roll makes the first half of that element one of the top 5 most unhinged moments on any coaster for me. The speed?? The whip?? No matter how many times I ride this, I am never prepared for it. I feel like my feet are getting ripped off, and my soul is leaving my body every time. The second half of the cobra roll provides more good whip, just nothing like the first half. Then you absolutely slam into the midcourse. Imagine this ride without a midcourse. My god. It does lose some speed in the second half, but not so much that it ruins the ride. The zero-g roll and corkscrew still provide that signature B&M invert whip. What a ride!!!!!

3) Griffon - 1 ride -- This is a great dive coaster. It is very similar to Sheikra, with its two excellent drops that give great airtime due to the superior over the shoulder restraints. It also adds a little more to the ride experience with a second Immelman. Just a purely fun ride.

4) Apollo's Chariot - 3 rides -- The first B&M hyper to open is possibly the weakest one in my opinion. It has much weaker and less-sustained airtime than the others I have ridden. But it does still have some solid airtime moments, and I really love the setting of the ride in the woods with trees all around. It's still a great, super fun ride, even if it's not really extreme or forceful.

5) Verbolten - 2 rides -- SKIP THIS SECTION IF YOU WANT TO AVOID SPOILERS? Based on my general taste in coasters and rides, I shouldn't like Verbolten as much as I do, but I really enjoy it. The indoor section is the highlight of the ride. I love the flashing lights above the launched hill, followed by the complete darkness as the train travels around a shockingly forceful turn that always makes me gray out. I also really like the surprise element of the drop track. The outdoor ending is nothing special, but at least the drop by the water offers nice views.

6) Loch Ness Monster - 1 ride -- As someone who likes Arrow loopers more than the average enthusiast, I think this is a really fun, classic ride. It doesn't do a whole lot, but what it does, it does well. I really love the helix in the pitch-dark tunnel, and the vertical loops are fun and forceful. This is another ride at BGW with a beautiful, wooded setting that really adds to the experience. I would also call this one of the less janky Arrow loopers, for better or for worse.

7) Tempesto - 2 rides -- I am not the biggest Sky Rocket II fan, mostly because of the ridiculous trains that are impossible to get in and out of and the stupid restraints that completely kill the ride experience. But this is still a solid ride with a fun backwards launch and a great mix of forces, from some of the strongest positives on any coaster to some nice airtime and hangtime moments.

8) IndavR - 2 rides -- I always enjoy a good wooden coaster, and while this one isn't very big or extreme, it still has some nice, quick GCI airtime pops and is overall quite fun.

9) DarKoaster - 1 ride -- This ride is good for what it is, I guess. It's a nice indoor family coaster with tame launches and almost no forces. I like that it's really cold in there to add to the theme of the snowy castle or whatever. But otherwise, the visual theming is kind of sparse. It's fun, but it could definitely be improved upon.
