Per Mike Sullivan: Letang has a maintenance day. Shea is stuck in Buffalo with an immigration issue and they hope he’ll be here by game time. “Hopefully he’s out of the path of totality,” Sullivan quipped, referring to the eclipse. Asked if Shea just wanted to be in Buffalo for a better look at the eclipse, Sullivan said, “That would be a better question for him.”

CE Characters watching the Superbowl
Steve Rogers:
Steve was still frozen in the ice when the Superbowl was invented, but was still alive for the World Series.
He prefers baseball, but is going over to Sam's to watch the Superbowl later.
Bucky will be joining them.
Steve brings some beer, but you decide to stay behind and get some laundry done.
Plus, you're about to give birth to James.
He decides to not to go Sam's to watch the game.
He doesn't want you being on your feet-at all!
He doesn't want you lifting a heavy laundry basket.
He does the laundry, folds it, and puts it away.
He cleans the bathroom.
He checks up on you periodically.
Foot rub? Done.
Back rub? Done.
Fetching you food, and water, and whatever you're craving? Done.
You get up to preheat the oven for a frozen pizza, but Steve guides you back to the recliner.
After, he carries you to bed when he sees you starting to fall asleep.
Which means that you'll be getting up after twenty minutes because James has made a habit of constantly sitting on your bladder.
Steve helps you up, and guides you to the bathroom when James sits on your bladder.
James will be here in a few days.
You're beyond uncomfortable.
Steve invites Sam and Bucky over, and they watch the game.
Steve checks on you during the commercial breaks.
He brings you water, food, ice cream, and whatever else you need.
Steve, Sam, and Bucky watch the game with a lot of enthusiasm.
"Cap, you're getting up WAY too much!" says Sam
"Sam. you don't have a wife who's close to giving birth." says Steve.
"STEVE? Can you help me up? I have to pee again!"
That has become your mantra right now.
Steve helps you up and you don't pee yourself.
Steve wouldn't have this any other way.
A few days later, James is born, via an emergency c-section.
Ransom Drysdale:
Ransom can't understand why two teams with overgrown men would be throwing a ball, kicking a ball, and tackling each other just to score points.
Which is fine by you.
You and Ransom decide to do a jigsaw puzzle anyway.
Ransom and you just talk and do the puzzle.
He even makes subs for the both of you while you do the puzzle.
This is nice, just the two of you, no TV on, no game to watch.
You grew up watching football with your dad and your brother and the rest of your family.
But, this is nice, too.
After, you and Ransom get ready for bed.
You both read a while before you both fall asleep.
A few years later, Harlan and Katherine are born, so Sunday nights are reserved for family games.
The game really doesn't matter.
You and Ransom love the conversation when you do puzzles and then read.
Sundays are lazy, anyway.
Andy Barber
Andy spends the day in bed, sick with a cold.
Which is fine by the both of you.
You take care of him.
It's the best.
You even knit a sweater for him.
You watch him sleep, feed him chicken soup by the bowl full, bring him tea with hot ginger ale, and even that vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce.
You bring him medicine.
You turn on the game for him, but twenty minutes later, he's out like a light.
You turn off the TV, and you read for a bit, and then you fall asleep.
You both discover who won the next day.
Andy's better, so he fakes being sick the next day, just because you were so good at taking care of him.
Colin Shea:
Colin, his dad, and his brothers live for this!
Your family back home does, too.
It's Colin's turn to host this year, so you and Colin went to Costco yesterday to get what you needed.
You got the chicken wings, the buffalo sauce, the honey barbecue sauce, the pizza, and even hot dogs.
You even bake cookies that morning.
Colin was iffy about bringing a girl around his brothers and his dad, but you didn't mind.
The girls had a record of ending things right after, including Ally.
You were different.
You and Colin relax before the company comes, and you two both nap in the recliner.
His brothers gradually come over, so you start the appetizers before everyone else arrives.
You fall asleep towards the end of the game, but Colin doesn't mind carrying you to bed bridal style.
You both fall asleep in each other arms, and wake up the next morning.
You don't mind working from home.
Jake Jensen:
Jake and you spend the better part of the evening in a retro arcade.
Since it's Superbowl Sunday, there'll be far less people.
Which is fine for the both of you.
Jake even wins you a stuffed animal from the claw machine.
But not without frustration.
Your next stop is home.
You've both lost a ton of quarters, and you both have none left.
So, what happens is you both head home, but you make chili for dinner for the both of you.
You both try to watch a movie, but fall asleep ten minutes into the movie.
You both sleep well into the next morning.
But not without spending some adult fun time later.
It's about spending time together.
Frank Adler:
It's a school night, so you and Frank won't be watching the game.
You went to another wedding dress fitting.
Frank and Mary were busy working on the written vows.
You're wedding is in the summer, and it will be a lovely affair at an elegant waterfront venue.
Mary falls asleep, so Frank carries her to bed.
Frank and you fall asleep on the couch, but don't wake until the next morning.
It's the best, because next year, he can watch the game.
Who knew that wedding planning took up every waking minute you had?
You and Frank wouldn't have it any other way.
Johnny Storm:
Johnny watches the game in the comfort of your own home.
You remind not to get too excited, you still have nightmares from last year.
He almost burned down your home.
You tell him to try to keep the excitement to a minimum, but you have several fire extinguishers as a just incase.
You love your boyfriend, and you love his enthusiasm, but his enthusiasm was WAY over the top last year.
"Johnny, honey, I know you love football, and you love the game, but please DON'T burn my house down."
You curl up with your book, sit in your relaxing chair and just read.
Johnny is surprisingly well behaved.
He hasn't burnt your house down, or started a riot.
You go to check on him, and he's sound asleep on the couch.
You help him up, and get him in bed.
He looks angelic when he's sleeping.

Flat Phryne in Buffalo!
Flat Phryne's adventures on the way to Miss Fisher Con in St. Paul continue. This week, she paid a visit to Buffalo, New York!
She checked in at the Hotel Lafayette. During it's prime, the Lafayette was one of the 15 finest hotels in the United States, boasting not only elevators, and hot and cold running water and a telephone in every room. Flat Phryne enjoyed her time there before heading out to see the sites.
Flat Phryne's first stop was Buffalo City Hall, one of the largest and tallest municipal buildings in the US. The Art Deco building, designed by Dietel, Wade and Jones, and featuring sculpture by Albert Steward, Rene Paul Chambellan and William Ehrich, was completed in 1931.
Next she made her way to the Liberty Building, built in 1925 and topped with replicas of the Statue of Liberty. She wanted to replicate Didier Pasquette's 2010 tightrope walk between the 2 rooftop statues, but it wasn't in the cards. Maybe next time!
She then stopped by the Soldiers and Sailors Monument in Lafayette Park.
Phryne was keen to learn more about Josh Allen, the quarterback for the Buffalo Bills, though she prefers footie to American football.
She made a quick stop to admire the Buffalo Savings Bank,
and the Electric Tower building,
before taking in a picture and enjoying the Wurlitzer extravaganza at Shea's. The Mighty Wurlitzer organ at Shea's (and in the Capitol Theatre in Melbourne!) were made just north of Buffalo.
Today, the former Wurlitzer factory is home to a brewery, events, and an amazing chocolate factory.
Where will Flat Phryne turn up next? Stay tuned!
