It’s surprisingly chilly night in Oasis Springs for Paris. Somehow she had expected or rather hoped for a heat wave once she left Brindleton Bay. She has a few days off to see her family. She’s hoping to convince her birth mother to come visit her and see where she lives.

“Hey cuz, she’s inside – watching some prime time soap opera.” Rahul greets her, it’s been kind of nice having a cousin though they don’t see each other often. “I’m about to go for a jog but I’ll catch you when I return.” Rahul likes to come visit his Aunt in Oasis Spring from time to time, she raised him after all. He just hates how it drove a wedge between him and Rashidah. He’s still hoping to mend things with her. 

Paris nods, watching her cousin take off. She inhales the night air and slowly exhales, readying herself for the conversation ahead. She doesn’t understand why her Mother won’t come see her in Brindleton Bay. She’s offered to pay her travel expenses and still – no dice.

Her mother has made brownies for her and Paris feels bad because she doesn’t feel like eating one. They sit down and exchange small talk until Paris finally asks the question that’s been weighing on her for months. “Why won’t you come visit me? I know you’ve said it’s complicated…but can I please know why?”

Florence Chopra looks at her daughter – the one she never thought she’d meet after giving her up at birth. She had felt it was the baby’s best chance for a good life at the time though sadly Paris had ended up in a orphanage. Still, Paris’ biological father had skipped town the moment Florence found out she was pregnant and she had been in a situation of having no money to care for a child.

“I’ve done a lot of things in my life, Paris. Not all of them good.” Florence pauses for a moment, looking at her daughter. She decides to be honest with her, she deserves that much. “But the main reason I don’t want to go to Brindleton Bay is because the couple you work for, the Lewis’…they have ties to Rahmi Watson…and I helped wrecked her marriage. I had an affair with her husband. Then tried to get him to take the family farm away from her.“

Paris sat there stunned. She wasn’t expecting that to be the reason for her Mother not wanting to visit. “Oh.” She wasn’t sure what else to say. Florence has always been upfront with her about the fact that she’s done bad things in her life. Not anything illegal but morally wrong. But still, Paris did not expect for one of those misdeeds to be tied to someone she knows personally. It’s weird how small the world is sometimes. 

“It’s not that I don’t want to see your life there….it’s just not a good idea. I don’t want them to possibly hold it against you. So, I think it’s best you keep to yourself my name. For your sake.” Florence advises.

Yeah, so while I was on my "I'm going to read into Vanny/Vanessa as much as possible" journey, I noticed an odd quirk in her animations in how she moves. At first, I thought it reminded me of a ballerina, 'cause she's kinda tip-toeing, & she has this way of keeping her head & chest in one place as she moves, but I looked again & realized --

That's not ballet! She's doing a tight-rope act. Like, look at this one:

This is like standing up on the wooden boards before you do the actual tight-rope walking, & the ring leader is hyping you up as you do some fun movement for the crowds. &, then, these:

These are all instances where she walks with one foot directly in front of the other. In that third, she's doing the "woaaah" wiggly-ass balance movements & everything, as if she's swaying up at the top of the tent, even though she's down on solid ground.

Idk, I feel like the way her feet are placed isn't accurate (pretty sure they should be pointed left & right, not both forwards...) doesn't make this 100% correct, but I like it. It also connects back with her first SB teaser, wherein she's up in the rafters.

Hey! Sorry for lack of updates (I know my zero followers are very upset over it), our cats have been sick with some nasty stuff lately. Our old boy packed a cold in and after two vet trips he's good, but now our calico is sick. But! They're both starting to do better after some antibiotics! Hooray! 🎉

Ok, so the Other is implied in the novels be be called 'the Other' because contrary to what Europan sparks do when they wreck the world there's no apparent gain, only wholesale slaughter and the terrifying absence of Gloating?? so 'the Other' for how terrifyingly alien this force of orbital bombardment meets Zombie Plague!!

but like. This is also a story. Which is what initially led me to the notion I will now share- the Other is 'the other Lucrezia' I postulate, that if only for drama, once there were two Lucrezia in the same time and the same place

One that was native to that point in time, and up to this point, unaware of her murderous and tragic future- and one from what the first one would see as the future!

and obviously, the second has had the study of untold eons to develop her technology and probably 'peeped into the infinite' as Albia put it- it's not a shock that Young Lu would be terribly impressed and taken with her Older self.

Taken enough that she might even be swayed to take that Older Her's advise and tutelage- eventually causing her to become wildly powerful and well informed (and also explaining why the castle was the first stop the Other hit, and why a bunch of her assistants got stabbed, and she got 'kidnapped'- you don't just believe a 'time traveler willy nillly! the Other needed some time to convince Lu to cooperate, like any other person)

this leads Lu to become the Other! just learning and scholarship (and massive trauma) would make her turn serial killing and infanticide to convince herself to travel back and forward in time to learn and cause the effect that is Herself?

After all- if this is such a neat tucked causality, why does Lu not know what happens after she gives Birth to Agatha (what Vrin called the ''time of prophesy')? Why was she so woefully unaware of how to find Agatha, or even stop her from being taken away in the first place?? She has time travel?? She's had time travel for a long time?? How come after this point for some reason it's as though she doesn't have time travel?

you see. I can't help but notice, that there's a 'Lu' that's unlike the rest. One Lu that's not as generous to the collective of Lu's goals. On that has a very vested interest in Lu's rise to power, and beyond that a vested interest in Agatha not only living separate from Lu's plans, but only coming back into play after Barry Rescued her and created the Locket which itself was on track to return to the field.

Zola, or Zolu, as I'm confident that either Lu has reconquered the majority of control or they've merged, requires that Agatha be there and a threat to Lu in order to exist. She would Have to lie to Young Lu that she simply hadn't a clue where the heterodyne girl would be spirited away to- so that she'd be there to kidnap Lu at all.

and a very tidy coup it might would will be, if Zolu steals the revenant empire right out from the collective Lu's nose!

Miscellaneous Rei Mekaru Headcanons (DRA):

Rei abstains from ingesting any sweets and/or junk food; she views them as harmful to her wellbeing and regards anyone who excessively indulges themselves with junk food as disgusting and contemptuous.

In a non-despair AU, Rei would’ve eventually befriended with the Sunshine Trio (Satsuki, Haru, Teruya) after relentless pursuit from Satsuki. Satsurei supremacy y’all. 🧡💙

Also I just like the idea of Rei and Haru being bros. Something’s very amusing about a horny stoner pilot and an upright intellectual jiving.

Rei is pan-demiromantic apothisexual. I don’t make the rules. 💖💛💙💜🤍🩶🖤

Rei can speak multiple languages, with the two most obvious being English and Japanese.

I’ve mentioned this before, but I think Rei would absolutely despise insects, possibly bordering on Entomophobia.

Speaking of, here’s a few phobias I think she could have: atelophobia (adversion to imperfection), mysophobia (adversion to contamination and germs), and haphephobia (adversion to touch).

Despite her hatred, Rei does occasionally fantasize about what her life could’ve been like if her parents hadn’t abandoned her. She could’ve enjoyed all the love, warmth and belonging that normal children get to experience- but she shakes those thoughts away and focuses her attention elsewhere, such as reading, researching, working, etc.

Hates rap and most mainstream music. Listens to classical shit.

May or may not have Asperger’s Syndrome (totally not projecting, nothing to see here guys 😅).

Her beautiful orange hair and eyes are a result of incomplete genetic dominance; her mother possessed yellow hair and eyes and her father red hair and eyes. Additionally, she inherited her poor eyesight from both parents.

Is an atrocious singer. Rei is a woman of many talents, but this is not one of them. 😓

Definitely has a teddy bear collection that she will die before ever showing to anybody.

Rei is without a doubt the smartest student in her class aside from Yamato; and I estimate her actual IQ to be between 120 to 130, based on the fact that she taught at Harvard University prior to attending Hope’s Peak Academy.

Has cried only twice; the first when her parents left her on the streets and the second during the 6th class trial of DRA.

Has never once celebrated her birthday, sadly. 😢 She sees it as an unproductive activity and that her time is better spent on other things.

i already had a rough idea of him never wanting to be leader, but being pressured to because of the dynasty. he never wanted to be leader and becoming a kittypet was an escape for him. (and his kit mistpaw actually joins him when she’s older)

buuuut the kittypet stuff itself isnt figured out yet, i dont think i want him to be jake’s friend bc im tired of jake being in all of these. so this is a nice opportunity to try and work that out

I saw your other granddaughter came to visit, so I am sure you were quite occupied", she said, stepping deeper into the room.
