Star Wars Releases Official Eras Timeline, Teases Old Republic
Earlier this year at Star Wars Celebration, looking ahead to a new slate of Star Wars movies, Lucasfilm officially unveiled a new chronological look at continuity, breaking down thousands of years in the galaxy far, far away into nine distinct periods. Now, the official website has gone a little deeper—and teased some very intriguing hints along the way. James Mangold on his Future Star Wars…

The Rey Jedi Order movie dropped its main writer, and I've seen some people freaking out over this
Guys, the movie is barely into production, by all accounts, it's only in the early scripting phase (to the point that Daisy Ridley has not seen much yet), casting, set/prop production, and filming hasn't even begun yet, hell those wouldn't even typically start until after a few drafts and revisions were made to the script, and we're only early in the first scripts/drafts
So yeah, this really isn't anything to be concerned about, if anything it just means it'll take a while longer for the film to come out (not necessarily a bad thing, more production time means more time to refine), and the film never even had a definitive release date to begin with, plus if there's ever a time to lose a writer, it's before most of the work is actually started and done

Did you hear?!?
The next Star Wars movie is going to be a movie adaptation of a show that's been solidly mediocre for most of its existence but happens to star two incredibly bankable, toy ready protagonists! And it's being directed by the guy whose last feature film directing credit is that soulless Lion King remake! Aren't you hyped?!? Star Wars on the big screen!!!
Ugh, okay, I don't want it. This is maybe the least interesting Star Wars movie that could be announced right now. I don't know if I really want to spend money to go see an extra long episode of a show that has completely abandoned being about characters.
Also! Isn't it just a little gross that The Mandalorian and Grogu (God I hate that title so fucking much) is announced less than a week after the far-right nerds of the Internet decided that Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, director of the upcoming New Jedi Order movie, was their villain of the week simply because she was a woman of color? How can you not read this as Lucasfilm being like "Oh shit, before we release the Star Wars movie directed by a woman, I guess we gotta distract the pissy racists with some boring sludge."

Looks like Finn and Poe won’t be in the NJO movie guys.
But that’s okay we are just as excited to see Rey go on her own journey and pioneer a new future of Star Wars. The way Daisy’s been talking about it has me excited.
A W as far as I’m concerned.

I'd like to wish all the massively insecure men having meltdowns over this interview with Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy a very merry suck it up and deal with the fact that women exist in the Star Wars universe and make Star Wars movies.
She'll be the first woman and the first person of color to direct a Star Wars film.

Everyone believes at least one crazy theory. Some people think the moon landing was faked. Some people believe that reality is a simulation. And some people believe that Rey's New Jedi Order movie won't get cancelled because of creative differences.

Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is a celebrated Pakistani-American journalist, filmmaker, and activist best known for two award-winning documentaries confronting inequality in Pakistan; one discussed acid attacks on women, and another focused on honor killings. Her works have been hugely influential, resulting in actual changes of the law pertaining to honor killings in Pakistan. In 2012, the Government of Pakistan awarded Obaid-Chinoy one of its highest civilian honors, and Time Magazine recognized her as one of its top 100 most influential people in the world.
This is the context in which, eight years ago, Obaid-Chinoy joked she likes to make men feel uncomfortable. The full quote can be watched on YouTube, and it’s clearly about her work as an activist, campaigning against acid attacks on young girls and honor killings. These documentaries are understandably uncomfortable viewing for men, but that kind of discomfort is the only way to drive change. The quotes are nothing to do with Star Wars, which makes their current use in the fandom rather disappointing.
