Two kindly bugs
Lie resting in grottos of their own
Their blessings, an aid
They ease passage
To the hiding place
Of Great Beings
And their boons

It's part 3 of the Hollow Knight x In Stars and Crossover art! Part 1 with Siffrin and Loop here! And, Part 2 with Bonnie and Odile here!
edit: part 4 with (Redacted) and Mal Du Pays!
I'd say last but not least if I didn't have two more ideas, but here's the remaining ones on the team! Cheated a little with Isabeau, but it felt suprisingly easy with Mirabelle.
Ramblings as usual -
I know there are what seems to be red mosskin in the Sequel That Shall Not Be Named, but that ain't out yet, so Isa is staying green for this. Seemed to work great to follow his hair shape, plus the closest equivalent that used shields (modified here as arm guards since bugs don't use gloves) that could make for his bulkier shape without being as round as Shielded Fools and city knights.
It's fun to think that the Change God allowed Unn to bring some Mosskin to Bug-gaurde as a show of friendship. She's pretty open to change considering she was super chill with the other Higher Beings, though with her depowering in Hallownest, she probably can't reach out to her kin this far anymore.
Mirabelle was really fun to play with the Pale Ore aesthetics. Her rapier is now a Pure Nail with a hilt (like Soul Warriors), and to make up for the lack of a maskless face, I permanently gave her the Change symbol eyes she has while Crafting (resembling Mask Maker a bit, though their eyes are more chaotic). She's a common bug unlike the rest of the team, but that allows her to retain a lot from the human design.
I'd end it here, but for the last part, I think I wanna play with two boss designs in specific...

Vessel biology:small details
Y’all know the drill by now.
Vessels exposed to natural daylight or Light from gods that are compatible with plant growth(Unn, Radiance originally but not once she starts the plague) can actually grow foliage on their horns(cause they’re actually branches) or around their ruff(their little cloaks are probably some hybrid of wings and leaves)the reasons most vessels don’t is because most grew up in darkness and never made it out to the surface or never encountered gods.
Side note but Hollow used to have very delicate white leaves(kinda like some of the foliage in the white palace or the plants growing in queens gardens but stunted), taking after their mothers nature. unfortunately pale lights tend to be cold aligned and thus lack some of the warmth in their spectrum needed to keep up vessel foliage growth long term. The radiance burned away the rest of their more delicate leaves. Interestingly though their actual ruff has a greenish hue to it in the their black egg fight that the pure vessel fight lacks, indicating that the radiances light may have at least started chlorophyll production for them before rapidly becoming scorching.
Vessels have a sort of hoarding instinct, the urge to take things inside of themselves and store it for later, which originates with wyrm. They don’t really have any preferences for what they take though, unlike Wyrms who are neurotic by human standards about what is and isn’t allowed in their hoard(which is why the white palace is color coded).
Vessel kinda have eyes? They have basic photo receptors lining the inside rim of their eye socks/mask holes, but most of their actual vision is magic. They also tend to have different attunements to their vision and thus how they see the world. Little ghost is highly attuned to void and soul and the gradient between them, whereas Hollow is far more like us and in addition to standard wavelength color vision can also see the “qualities” of Light that’s deific in origin, this includes seeing lingering effects, the wills and reasons of gods for how they use their Light, and they will almost always notice the boundaries of territories of higher beings.
Hollow is so stained with light that they may genuinely have more lingering light that void, in theory they could use this to transition towards being a more standard god, which would allow them to heal their wounds. They choose not to of course, mostly cause of the trauma they’ve been through and their feelings on gods in general.
Vessels have small retractable/void based burrowing claws/appendages that they can use for when they want to dig. That’s actually what Pure vessel uses during their fight, it’s the long void tendrils arm thing. These claws also tend to correspond to the shape their teeth/horns would have been in as worms.
Speaking of that, that’s what the horns on their heads are, they’re branches but also at the core of each branch is the tooth “root” and the branches tend to grow into the shapes they would have had the vessels been born Wyrms.
Vessels in general don’t have a lifespan, but if they were given the chance they’d all eventually metamorphose into a different form ala their father. I think that the typical vessel shapes/bodies we see are really just temporary and not particularly stable(hence why I’ve said they’re susceptible to influences in the past and also likened them to evee) and given the chance each vessel has an adult form it would eventually grow into. Those forms tend to by Wyrms, roots, and wyrm root hybrids, but also contain a wide variety of stranger life forms, probably echoes and imprints left behind in the void from gods it’s devoured in the past that made their way into the vessels.
Hollows is actually just how they were as PV though, they were simply too influenced by light and also have too much wyrm blood in them
Ghosts is quite obviously void given focus, the potential for that lay in them(and all other vessels to some extent) but only they made the choice that allowed void given focus to exist.

The dreamers are the three magi
Hollow is bug Jesus tho
They literally died for our sins, they revived in a cave (or egg), their dad is a god who basically set them up to die and fight the bug devil to save PK's followers.
All this to say imagine if Hollow found out their name was used to express frustration/surprise
I was actually thinking about this but you are absolutely right
Jesus:
Son of God
Died to save humanity
Resurrected after death
Hollow:
Child of god
Sacrificed to save Hallownest
"Resurrected" (exited the egg in the Godhome endings) after their sacrifice
Hollow is Bug Jesus
People say "OH, HOLLOW" the same way they'd say "OH, FUCK" and they are. SO confused.

Part 1 || <- Part 4 ||
-
Draco woke slowly, his head pounding with agony. The floor was cold against his bare skin. He was naked. And had been sleeping on the floor. His whole body hurt as he slowly pushed himself up on bruised knees.
The bitter smell of ash and dark magic hit him at the same time he tasted his own mouth, and bile immediately surged up his throat. Draco ran for the bathroom, barely making it to the toilet before he threw up what little was left in his stomach. He took a hangover potion as soon as he could stand, grimacing through the bitter taste.
Draco ran a hand through his hair, feeling grit; his palm turned grey by ash. He needed a shower badly; he felt disgusting, the slimy feel of black magic clinging to his skin like oil. But first, he pulled on a pair of shorts and returned to his bedroom.
There was a black scorch mark on the floor in the shape of a spell circle, the inscribed runes blurred into illegibility. A dusting of ash was spreading out from the centre of the circle. Near the edge of the circle was a larger pile of ash, fragments of blackened paper and the shell of a leather book cover. Draco knelt and pushed a finger through the remains of the book, trying to see if he could make out any words, any clues as to what he had done. There were a few partial words he could make out, but nothing that gave him any sort of clue. But he could guess.
His memory from the night before stopped somewhere after dinner, likely from drinking too much, as his hangover had shown. But before... before, he had been in the library and had looked at the hidden shelf of books.
"A new life..." Draco muttered to himself, wishing he had a time-turner so he could go back and slap himself. If the war had taught him anything, it was that dark magic was never worth it. Never.
Draco froze, "...where's my wand?"
A surge of panic shot through him, and Draco stumbled to his feet. He looked around the room, scanning every corner.
"No, no, no, no...."
He picked up the rug and shook it out, sending a plume of ash into the air. Draco coughed, his eyes stinging and watering, and went to his bed, throwing off the pillows and duvet, stripping it down to the mattress. He dropped to his knees, ignoring the bolt of pain from the impact and looked under the bed. And then he spotted it. His wand had rolled underneath, nearly to the middle.
"Thank fuck, thank fuck," Draco laid on his stomach and pulled his wand out.
His wand was scorched black and lined with fine cracks from the heat of the fire.
Draco's face fell as he sat up. As long as the core was intact, it would cast for a while, but eventually, the force of magic flowing through it would split the wood and destroy the wand entirely.
He pressed his hand against his forehead, dragging it through his hair and pulling it in frustration.
It had taken years and so many bribes just to find a wandmaker willing to be associated with him. And then he had paid a hundred times the price to get a replacement that only worked half as well as his first wand.
"So stupid, so fucking stupid."
This is what he got for fucking around with dark magic. While black-out drunk. He was such an idiot.
Feeling entirely wrung through, Draco trudged back to the bathroom, setting his damaged wand on the small shelf beside the mirror before stepping into the shower. He stayed under the stinging hot water, scrubbing every inch of his skin until it was pink and tender. It got rid of the worst of the clinging, greasy feel of the dark magic, but he still felt the ghost of it. He could clean his skin all he wanted, but it would never fully remove the lingering taint in his blood and magic. It took years for that to fade.
Draco went to grab his wand as he stepped out of the shower but stopped himself. He couldn't risk any unnecessary magic until he got a new wand lined up. He grabbed one of the fluffy white towels from a neglected shelf and dried himself halfheartedly. He hated using a towel; it was so inefficient. Draco didn't bother with a comb, running his hand through the thin, silky strands. It wouldn't dry straight, but he no longer had the energy to care.
There was no breakfast tray waiting for him by his bed. Though considering the state of his room, he understood the elves giving him a wide berth. He desperately needed some fucking coffee, and not one of Bisci's bitter black drip monstrosities, good coffee. Draco sighed. And he had just promised his mother not to go into town.
Draco usually dressed in the most non-descript robes he owned to avoid notice when he went to Diagon Alley. Which he hated. As a compromise, he liked to wear his favourite pieces under his cloak. He currently had a fondness for styles inspired by the Edwardian era.
Draco picked out a lovely French-tailored long-sleeved white blouse. It had loose sleeves on his upper arms and tightly buttoned cuffs down his forearms, a high-boned collar that went up to his chin and was buttoned all down the back with tiny pearls. Luckily, he didn't have to use his wand to close the buttons; the sewn-in charms did the work for him when he brushed his thumb over the rune mark on the hem.
Draco layered a beautiful green silk waistcoat over the shirt. The intricate filigree pattern was drawn on a deep sage background and highlighted with touches of silver. He wore simple black trousers to complement the look without ruining his outward appearance of blandness.
It was early enough that his mother would still be sleeping, so he was fairly certain he could slip out of the manor, get a latte and a bun, and come back without her being any the wiser. The fireplace grate groaned and stuck several times before he wrenched it open and flooed to the Leaky Cauldron.
xx
