They canonically do! When Livvy treated Alvar in Nightfall, she "reached into her tackle box and pulled out seven slender candles" (461), which shone different colors similar to Elwin's flashing.

However, we haven't seen their application outside that, as far as I recall. Instead, there's things like Sophie's moonjars, bottled starlight, bio-luminescent organisms, etc.

There is the fact Candleshade is named Candleshade, which implies candles existence outside of medical fields, as I doubt Assius would name his home after a medical instrument.

So: yes, they have them, but not in widespread use--likely because of that fear/stigma you mentioned!

In honor of yesterday's confusing anon, can we have the first time Shannon "language!"ed Mary in the tmtl-verse?

The midday sun burns hot across Mary's scalp, and she presses her face into the mat with a groan. She pulls her knees under herself, balls up her fists and shoves upright, struggles to her feet. Shannon watches her with a lazy smirk, then raises her hands in front of her again and curls two fingers, beckoning Mary towards her. 

"Jerk," Mary groans, but she's quickly learned just how incapable she is of ignoring any request from Shannon, no matter how much of a fucking dick move it is. She wipes her mouth on her sleeve, navy fabric going black with the blood from her split lip, glares up at that stupid grin.

"Coward," Shannon retorts, eyes sparkling. "Come on, Mary, let's have another go."

"More like you should go to hell."

"Language!" Shannon hisses, darting a glance back over her shoulder.

Mary furrows her brows, a headache growing that has nothing to do with her smarting mouth. "What?"

"Suzanne won't hesitate to make you pray a hundred Hail Marys if she catches you talking like that."

"Oh, fuck that," Mary groans, spitting a mouthful of blood out in disgust. "I got my fill of those at boarding school." She eyes Shannon thoughtfully, pumps her eyebrows up and down. "What'd you say, Shan? Did you tell her to choke on a dick when she was being a twenty-four-seven bitch last week?"

"No." Shannon tries to affect an aloof tone, but the corner of her mouth jumps towards a smile. "She was getting on me about coming to training tired and I said I hadn't gotten much sleep because I'd been too busy fucking her mom the night before."

could you guys imagine if anyone else stayed in the hospital with dee leading up to when she gave birth besides dennis. mac would be sick to his stomach about the whole thing. maybe he'd faint. charlie would be asking when and how does the sperm eat the egg and make dee explain it all but still wouldn't get it. it's really hard to predict what frank would do but i picture him throwing random objects at dee to make sure the baby has good reflexes or some other insane shit.

As so many of you are filling my inbox asking about salad and why I found the fact they had two types of salad for dinner in the Buck and Tommy dinner scene so funny, I'm guessing you're new to the 911 fandom - Welcome if so! I am going to give you a very brief rundown of salad and Buck and Eddies various relationships, but @clusterbuck is actually the keeper of salad theory and you can find far more detailed analysis over on her blog than you’re getting from me here!!

I can't find gif of the actual salad moments so have pictures!!

Chris smashed salad bowl that he is making a salad in with his dad in season 4 (in Breaking point) - when he finds out about Ana being the person Eddie is dating.

We have Ana turn up at the firehouse with Chris during the black out in 5x02 with 5 - yes 5 - types of salad When Eddie has his second on screen panic about Ana - when Ravi mistakes her for his wife.

Then in 5x03 just before they break up - Eddie, Chris, and Ana are at the dining table in the Diaz house and they are eating fruit salad

Then in 5x05 we have Taylor with her prepackaged fruit salad breakfast the she has 'made' for Buck when he gets home

she is making a bean salad in 5x09 during the most awkward I love you scene in the history of television!

Then we have a caprese salad in front of Natalia during the Dinner Buck cooked for her in 5x17 - when she finds out about various aspects of Bucks past and present - Taylor on the tv and Kameron turns up

Then in 7x07 - when Eddie is daydreaming of a do over with Shannon during his lunch with Marisol they are eating a salad

then we now have Buck and Tommy eating two different types of salad (a pasta salad and a salad salad) on their dinner date

so basically it's become a bit of a running joke that if salad is involved with Buck or Eddie and one of their dates (especially in their own homes) , the relationship is doomed!

To add to the buddie xmas agenda with baby they defo get one of those ugly baby’s first xmas bauble whilst Chris rolls his eyes. This is heavy for Eddie because he never had a chance to pick one out for Chris with Shannon. So he makes sure all three of them pick out one for sibling. They all have embroidered name stockings. When Chris gets into college Eddie gets a baby’s first college bauble because Chris is forever his baby like his sibling is. First year of college that they can’t do a group photo of the family in Xmas jumpers they all wear sweaters of the college Chris is in with a Santa’s hat and send it solely to Chris so he knows family Xmas cards is all of them or none of them. Baby makes grabby hands at Chris as a toddler and goes Kwis uppies when they wants sibling cuddles. Chris acts like he hates it but loves it he also thanks sibling for keeping them company whilst he’s away especially at Xmas. Chris at college gets teased all the time about how his dad is hot and so is his boyfriend so when they finally make the firefighting calendar and get December Chris never knows a day of peace form his friends. That picture forever a meme. Oh and when they get a dog or a cat they also get stockings.

YAY 🫶 god they absolutely would get jumpers with chris' college on it, this is real and true. also the baby calling chris "kwis" is everything to me. i love this world. thank you for putting this joy in my inbox this morning anon 💖

I agree with all of this, "hope this helps" 🤣🤣. It would not be cheating at all and even if it was cheating I still wouldn't care ���. Where do you sit on this topic?

Q. Let me start by saying I desperately want Buddie together but I have a growing suspicion that they're going to insinuate or outright show that they kissed at the bachelor party and that would taint them from go for me because putting them together through cheating, especially on a character the show established had turned into a really good guy, is so unnecessary and disgusting and ruins them right off the bat.

A. I wasn't going to reply to this ask but I have several similar asks currently sitting in my inbox so I'm going to respond even though this person is clearly a tommy trying to pretend to be a Buddie. How are you all still so bad at all of this nearly a year on? Your ask is a completely disingenuous take. If having them kiss at the bachelor party ruins them from the start for you then you don't 'desperately' want them together. You don't want them together at all and I don't know why you feel the need to pretend that you do. When the bachelor party takes place Buck and Tommy had been on ONE very bad date. Yes, they had a conversation where Buck said he wanted to try again but they were not a couple. You can't cheat on someone you've had one date with. Furthermore the show definitely didn't establish that Tommy had become some stand up remarkable human being, that is laughable. He was a sexist racist when they needed him the first time around for Chim and Hen, and he was a gay man the second time around when they needed someone for the coming out storyline. That's it. The show didn't care to establish anything else about him. The fact he left Buck standing on a curb after he understandably panicked a bit during their first date and then told Buck Abby went crazy when he dumped her pretty much illustrates though that he wasn't a great guy.

Forcing real life moral codes onto fictional characters is always a recipe for pain though. You can't do that. The very nature of the media they exist in doesn't allow for real life moral rules to always be followed. Real life people don't always do the right thing. Expecting fictional character to do so is ridiculous. Drama comes from their mistakes so television shows will always have them screw up and make bad decisions every now and again. I don't want them to have kissed at the bachelor party because I don't want their first kiss to be a flashback, but I won't be terribly bothered if that is the route they take because it's not that big of a leap to make. They made a point of making both of them drunk, Oliver mentioned in an interview while talking about filming the karaoke scene that everyone needs a little liquid courage now and then. They made a point of releasing the deleted scene with Eddie telling Chris about how he met Shannon and what he liked so much about her when they first met. The show then intentionally had the bachelor party mirror that story with Buck talking all night long and showing how close and intertwined they both were all night long. The karaoke song even fit the callback of that story from Eddie. We also cannot ignore the fact that Eddie basically blew up his life following the bachelor party so going back and showing that something did indeed happen between the two of them that night would not be some astronomical story leap. I have said from the beginning they filmed way too much content and spent way too much money for those scenes to just never come up again or be shown. I don't think we're getting the actual karaoke scene but I do think we might get some of the other scenes in a flashback of some kind but we don't know that for sure. That New Year's Day post was definitely an intentional choice and it was certainly an interesting choice, but it doesn't necessarily indicate anything bachelor party related is coming. It could just be one more thing to add to the growing belief that Buddie is very much coming though.

Lastly, even if Buck and tommy had been in a full blown years long relationship and the show had Buck and Eddie get together by cheating on him I still wouldn't care or be angry. They could murder him, chop him up and dispose of the body and I would call it the most romantic thing ever. I genuinely don't care about him at all. Hope this helps ☺️

As for where I stand on this topic?

Listen, I grew up on soap operas where everyone cheated on everyone.😋 It never bothered me. In fact, it brought some extra tension and I love that in a show. So I don't really care one way or the other.

But also, Tommy wasn't his boyfriend at that time. They were trying things out and so far Tommy had proven himself to be a bit of an ass. So no, if we find out that Buck and Eddie kissed or made out during that bachelor's party? I will cheer.🙌🙌🙌

I've been here since te beginning. They need to get this show on the road and if this is the way they have chosen to go? I'm fine with it.

tbh i would love to know how Mother Superion feels about Shannon's decisions in the RIPBea AU 👀 like... yes, Shannon was right about Vincent, and she was probably right to take decisive action... but she's set a worrying precedent.

I think Suzanne's torn, because on one hand Shannon's gone fucking unhinged, but on the other hand this is Shannon. this is the best of them. this is the woman who's kept the Halo when Suzanne couldn't even make it half a year, who's kept the Halo even though she's gone over the edge. but in the end it comes back to that, I think. the Halo hasn't rejected Shannon, despite what she's done, and those that make it God's will? does that make Shannon His angel of vengeance?

I think it makes her re-evaluate a lot of things, but I think she's got Shannon on a bit of a pedestal as well, as someone who succeeded where she failed, so the re-evaluations tend more towards lending support to Shannon's crusade than opposing it

(and, after all, when, beyond with her gun to Vincent's head, has Suzanne ever shied away from slaughter? Shannon's done the one thing Suzanne couldn't, but everything else is somewhat in line with the choices Suzanne tends to make in combat. and the choices Shannon has made in the 5-10 seconds of her combat we got) (Shannon stabbing that guy she'd already put on the floor and then immediately drawing a short sword changed me as a person)

People are sleeping on this queer representation + show in general

As a queer Asian American I feel an obligation to get more people to know about Warrior (2019) which is streaming on MAX (HBO), but had originally aired on Cinemax.

This show is based on an original concept and writings of Bruce Lee and is executive-produced by his daughter, Shannon Lee. It is set in 1870 San Francisco and bases a lot of the story and characters on historical figures during/around the Tong Wars. It's a riveting, action packed series that's sure to please anyone who enjoys old school martial arts films, westerns, dramas, and more.

But that's not it. The show has an interracial queer relationship that too many people don't know about. This will now go into spoiler territory. So if this post has already convinced you to go watch it just from the first image, then don't read on.

You first get to see Ah Toy and Nellie Davenport interact at the beginning of season 2. Ah Toy, from season 1 is already canonically bisexual. From the get go it is evident that they are enemies as Ah Toy is an influential madame in Chinatown who runs a brothel. While on the other hand Nellie is a rich widow who has aided the police force in raids throughout Chinatown to shut down crib brothels. In time you'll learn that they're both badass motherfuckers, but I don't want to spoil that for you!

As the season progresses, they find that they aren't as different as they originally thought. Falling straight into the enemies to lovers story path. So here's a still from season 3 of these wonderful bi women to encourage you all to check out Warrior.
