Lapicus will be challenging for the ONE Lightweight championship this Friday (Oct. 30) when he faces champion Christian Lee (13-3).

Wondergirl Fairtex also dominated in her ONE debut, stopping Brooke Farrell in the first round of their strawweight Muay Thai showdown by knockout.
The Fairtex rising star used her powerful punches to score a knockdown early in the first round, and although Farrell answered the count, it was only a matter of time before she jumped back on the attack and finished the Australian.

ONE Championship’s WARRIOR KINGDOM Card In Bangkok Takes Shape
Tumblr media
ONE Championship recently announced additional bouts for ONE: WARRIOR KINGDOM, its highly-anticipated return to Thailand. The event will take place on 11 March at the Impact Arena in Bangkok.
Headlined by Asian MMA star Angela “Unstoppable” Lee, who makes the first defense of her ONE Women’s Atomweight World Championship title against Chinese Taipei’s Jenny Huang, ONE: WARRIOR KINGDOM will feature a slew of local and international MMA stars.
The 20-year-old Lee (6-0) is undefeated, and fresh off capturing the inaugural women’s title in May of last year with a hard-earned victory over Japanese MMA veteran Mei “V.V” Yamaguchi in Singapore.  Her opponent, Huang (5-0), also boasts an unblemished record, including a Submission of the Year 2016 victory in her last bout, a rare gogoplata finish of Filipino fighter April Osenio.
What is perhaps the next-most exciting bout on the card sees the return of three-time Lumpinee stadium champion and former ONE Strawweight World Champion Dejdamrong “Kru Rong” Sor Amnuaysirichoke (6-1), who is set to take on 21-year-old Joshua Pacio (8-1) of the Philippines.
Tumblr media
Dejdamrong will make his first appearance inside the ONE Championship cage since losing his title to now-reigning champion Yoshitaka “Nobita” Naito of Japan. Pacio, on the other hand is fresh off challenging Naito for the same title, falling short of victory after succumbing to the Japanese fighter by submission.
It’s a tremendous matchup between Muay Thai and wushu that should test both fighters to their limits, with the winner expected to earn a rematch against the champion.
Plus, ONE Championship standout and local hero Shannon “OneShin” Wiratchai (6-1, 1NC) will take the stage in Bangkok once again, this time opposite debuting fighter Richard “Lion Heart” Corminal (4-1) of the Philippines.
Tumblr media
Wiratchai is riding a four-fight win streak, impressively stopping some big names in the promotion including Mitch Chilson, Amir Khan, and Peter Davis. Corminal, on the other hand, makes his first appearance inside the ONE Championship cage after winning his last bout with another promotion.
Interestingly, Wiratchai’s real-life love interest, 27-year-old Rika “Tinydoll” Ishige, makes her ONE Championship debut on the same card against Malaysian doctor AudreyLaura “Ice Comet” Boniface, who is also debuting for the promotion.
Ishige, who is of mixed Thai and Japanese heritage, is Thailand’s first female professional mixed martial artist, and has trained in aikido and taekwondo since she was 9 years old. Ishige’s opponent Boniface is a full-time practicing doctor in Sabah, Malaysia, where she trains at Borneo Tribal Squad alongside Malaysian MMA star Ann “Athena” Osman.
Tumblr media
Also to see action inside the ONE Championship cage are Thai prospects Kritsada “Dream Man” Kongsrichai and Pongsiri “Punhod” Mitsatit. Kongsrichai will take on Adrian Matheis of Jakarta, Indonesia, while Mitsatit does battle with Rabin Catalan of Iloilo City, Philippines.
On the undercard, 20-year-old Chinese MMA prospect Ma Jia Wen faces off against Indonesian veteran Yohan Mulia Legowo, while multiple-time Muay Thai champion and legend Sagetdao Petpayathai makes his professional MMA debut against Malaysia’s Kelvin Ong.
To cap it all off, two of Thailand’s biggest bands, Thaitanium and Slot Machine, will be performing at the event as well.

Fabio Pinca Believes He Could Beat Wiratchai At His Own Game
Tumblr media
On Friday, 21 August, French Muay Thai legend Fabio Pinca steps into the ring to compete in mixed martial arts for the first time in his lengthy career.
The 36-year-old battles Shannon “OneShin” Wiratchai in a featherweight matchup at ONE: NO SURRENDER III in Bangkok, Thailand.
Before the action kicks off on Friday night in Thailand’s capital, Pinca explains why he believes he will walk away the victor against the hometown hero.
“He’s an experienced mixed martial arts fighter,” the Lyon native said. “But I have more experience in the fight game.”
The multiple-time Muay Thai World Champion has a stellar kickboxing and Muay Thai record of 99-24-4. Because of that, he makes a convincing argument to support his claim.
That doesn’t mean he’s going to sleep on Wiratchai, who has shared the ONE ring with a myriad of mixed martial arts superstars like Singapore’s Amir Khan and Japanese legend Shinya “Tobikan Judan” Aoki.
“I watched his fights,” said Pinca, who will be one of seven World Champions competing at Friday’s event. “He’s good. I’m happy to face him for my mixed martial arts debut.”
Having spent nearly two decades competing in the stand-up disciplines, will Pinca struggle in his transition to mixed martial arts? Some might believe that could be the case. But if you ask him, the man from Lyon has a different opinion.
“I’ve been training hard as always, but a bit differently because of the new rules. So, I’ve worked a lot on my ground game – and I love it," he said.
“My plan is to beat him in his rules. I’m ready to use all the mixed martial arts weapons. I see a unanimous decision victory for me.”
Catch ONE: NO SURRENDER III on meWATCH, the ONE Championship YouTube channel, or the ONE Super App at 8:30 p.m. Singapore Standard Time (SGT). Also, Channel 5 will broadcast the event on a next-day delay at 1 a.m. SGT on Saturday, 22 August.

5 Team Lakay fighters among top seeds in ONE ratings
#PHnews: 5 Team Lakay fighters among top seeds in ONE ratings
BAGUIO CITY – ONE Fighting Championship strawweight champion Joshua Pacio is the top fighter in his weight division, while four other fighters remain among the top mix martial arts fighters but former champion Eduard Folayang is nowhere in the list.
ONE’s latest ranking released this week show Pacio as the only top player in his weight division from Team Lakay.
Folayang, Geje Eustaquio, Honorio Banario as well as Kevin Belingon as top athletes in lightweight, flyweight, featherweight and bantamweight divisions are no longer on the list.
Belingon, a former bantamweight king, remains to be the top challenger in the weight division ruled by long-time champion and rival Bibiano Fernandes, who defeated him in their last two fights that cost him the crown.
Behind Belingon are Shoko Sato, Yusup Saadulaevm Shuya Kamikubo, and Daichi Takenaka.
Pacio is the top strawweight athlete, thanks to two successful title defense after losing the belt last year.
Behind him are former champions Yosuke Saruta, Yoshitaka Naito, Olympic gold medalist for wushu Rene Catalan, former champion Alex Silva and the fast-rising and fellow Team Lakay member Lito Adiwang.
Catalan and Silva were the last two opponents of Pacio whom he beat to retain the belt which he wrested back from Saruta on April 12 last year.
It was a rematch after losing the belt to the same guy on January 19 last year.
Pacio completed Team Lakay’s four-weight sweep in ONE on September 22, 2018, by beating then-champion Yoshitaka Naito to join Belingon, Eustaquio, and Folayang.
Flyweight king Adriano Moraes leads Grand Prix winner Demetrius Johnson, with Danny Kingad of Team Lakay as the second seed.
Kingad lost to the Mighty Mite Johnson in the Grand Prix semi-finals.
Former champion Kairat Akhmetov is the third seed, followed by Yuya Wakamatsu and Reece McClaren, the Fil-Aussie nicknamed Lightning.
Former champion Eustaquio failed to join the elite six.
Martin Nguyen remains the top featherweight player as the champion, who once carried the lightweight belt after beating Folayang.
The second to third seeds are Koyomi Matsushima, Than Le, Tetsuya Yamada, and Garry Tonon.
Out of the list is inaugural ONE feather champion Banario, who ended his four-game losing streak after beating Shannon Wiratchai in the first closed-door fight last February 28 in Singapore, which was also the last staged ONE event.
While seeded first in the featherweight division, Christian Lee reigns supreme in the lightweight division after wresting the title from legend and former three-time champion Shinya Aoki, who is now the fifth seed.
In between are Iuri Lapicus, Saygid Guseyn Arslanaliev, Pieter Buist, and Timofey Nastyukhin.
Folayang is out of the list after falling to Buist in his last outing last January.
Southeast Asian Games kickboxing gold medalist Gina Iniong-Araos is the fifth seed in the women’s atomweight division which is dominated by long-time queen Angela Lee.
Fellow Filipina Denice Zamboanga is the top seed, followed by Meng Bo and Mei Yamaguchi.
The ranking was released for select weight divisions across the MMA, muay Thai, and kickboxing disciplines.
“The rankings will bring more clarity and transparency for our athletes as they chase their dreams for a world championship,” said ONE chairman Chatri Sitdoyodtong in a statement.
The ranking was determined by a panel that included media, industry experts, ONE Championship vice presidents Rich Franklin and former UFC champion Misha Tate.
The rankings were determined after each event, weighing wins and losses, recent performances and quality of opponents.
Team Lakay members are busy training at the Team Lakay gym in Pico, La Trinidad, Benguet even as they joined forces with ACT-CIS Party-list Rep. Eric Go Yap, also the Benguet caretaker congressman, in distributing relief goods to Benguet residents. (PNA)

Demetrious Johnson and Eddie Alvarez set to make ONE Championship debut
The largest global sports media property in Asian history, ONE Championship™ (ONE), has just announced the first six bouts scheduled for ONE: A NEW ERA, which is set to take place Sunday, 31 March at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan.
Reigning ONE Women’s Strawweight World Champion “The Panda” Xiong Jing Nan of China will defend her title against ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion “Unstoppable” Angela Lee of Singapore. ONE Middleweight World Champion Aung La “The Burmese Python” N Sang of Myanmar will defend his title against Ken Hasegawa of Japan. ONE Lightweight World Champion Eduard “Landslide” Folayang will defend his title against Shinya “Tobikan Judan” Aoki of Japan.
Tickets for ONE: A NEW ERA goes on sale 20 December at 6 PM JST and is available on LINE Ticket at https://ticket.line.me/sp/ONEChampionship, Kyodo Tokyo, Ticket Pia, Lawson Ticket, and E-plus from 27 January 2019.
Also seeing action on the card are new ONE Championship athletes Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson and Eddie “The Underground King” Alvarez. In addition, ONE Championship will officially kick off the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix with a series of compelling bouts.
Reigning ONE Women’s Strawweight World Champion “The Panda” Xiong Jing Nan and ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion “Unstoppable” Angela Lee have been on a collision course ever since the Chinese hero entered the organization in December 2017.
The two martial artists sit at the top of their weight classes, and each has dominated their respective divisions. However, with Lee moving up in weight to challenge Xiong for the strawweight crown, the Singaporean has the chance to become the first two-division women’s World Champion in ONE Championship history. It certainly will not be easy, as “The Panda” represents the toughest challenge in Lee’s career.
Reigning ONE Middleweight and Light Heavyweight World Champion Aung La “The Burmese Python” N Sang is the most iconic sports superstar to hail from Myanmar.
His first encounter with Japan’s Ken Hasegawa in June 2018 was a five-round thriller of epic proportions, one which Aung La N Sang won in the final moments of the heated battle. The match is considered the “Greatest Bout In ONE Championship History” and was also awarded “Bout Of The Year” honours at the 2018 Global Martial Arts Awards for its nonstop action and dramatic finish. Aung La N Sang and Hasegawa will meet once again at ONE: A NEW ERA in a highly-anticipated rematch that is sure to produce fireworks.
Reigning ONE Lightweight World Champion Eduard “Landslide” Folayang of the Philippines is set to face Japanese martial arts legend and former World Champion Shinya “Tobikan Judan” Aoki in a long-awaited rematch.
In November 2016, Folayang captured the title from Aoki via third-round TKO but surrendered the belt to Martin Nguyen a year later. This past November, the Filipino reclaimed the crown with a dominant five-round unanimous decision over Singaporean knockout artist Amir Khan. Meanwhile, Aoki is riding a three-bout win streak, having finished Rasul Yakhyaev and Ev Ting by submission, and stopping Shannon Wiratchai by TKO. These three wins have elevated the Japanese icon to another shot at the ONE Lightweight World Title, as well as a chance to defeat his former conqueror.
In addition to the three aforementioned bouts, multiple-time World Champions Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson and Eddie “The Underground King” Alvarez are scheduled to make their first appearances inside the ONE Championship cage.
Alvarez joined ONE Championship in October, taking his stellar career back to Asia where he first made a name for himself. A multiple-time lightweight World Champion, Alvarez seeks to become a ONE World Champion but will have to go through a bevy of top lightweight contenders in order to achieve his goal. In his first outing for the promotion, Alvarez will face top lightweight contender Timofey Nastyukhin of Russia.
Johnson, meanwhile, is widely considered the pound-for-pound best mixed martial artist in the history of the sport. He joined ONE Championship in late October and, alongside Alvarez, appeared in Singapore the following week for the Global Martial Arts Summit, Global Martial Arts Awards, and ONE: HEART OF THE LION. Johnson’s opponent for his first ONE Championship bout will be Japan’s Yuya “Little Piranha” Wakamatsu.
The ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix will commence at ONE: A NEW ERA. Initial bouts for the tournament will also be announced at a later date.
Also on the card is a ONE Super Series showdown between Muay Thai legend Yodsanklai IWE Fairtex and Dutch World Champion kickboxer Andy Souwer.
Yodsanklai is coming off a stunning performance in Kuala Lumpur at ONE: DESTINY OF CHAMPIONS. The martial arts veteran finished opponent Luis Regis with three rapid-fire uppercuts that drew a chorus of cheers from the crowd. Souwer, on the other hand, is one of the most internationally-renowned striking superstars ever to emerge from the Netherlands and is a two-time K1 World MAX World Champion and It’s Showtime 70MAX World Champion.
