Brotzeit Introduces Prosperity Platter Featuring New 2020 Favorites

Brotzeit Philippines has just introduced their Prosperity Platter featuring a selection of new 2020 favorites. Let’s all forget how stressful January was and start the new year properly this time with these meaty and flavorful dishes.

The Hungry Kat was invited to celebrate the Lunar New Year the German way at Brotzeit Shangri-La Plaza last week. Brotzeit was conceived in Singapore in 2006 and is the most popular German restaurant in the country today. It aims to introduce authentic Bavarian cuisine accompanied by world famous quality German beer in a chic and contemporary setting.

We started with a few appetizers to get our taste buds ready. The Pulled Pork Croquette (P190) is a crisp croquette filled with savoury Bavarian pulled pork inside. You can also dip it in the spicy garlic mustard sauce that comes along with it.

The Sausage and Shrimp Dumpling (P420) is a curious set of baked dumplings stuffed with sausages, shrimp, and pineapple. This is probably the German version of the Chinese dumplings but this one is packed with an explosion of flavors. It is also served with a spicy garlic mustard sauce.

This may seem like an ordinary egg omelette, but the Bacon Onion (P420) is really much more than that. It has smoked bacon and onion baked in a flaky shortbread-crust then served with garden salad. I really liked this and wished that I can have it early in the morning for breakfast.

The Wild Mushroom Maultaschen (P450) is a bit similar to a ravioli but this traditional German dish has pasta pockets stuffed with wild mushrooms and laced with sage-seasoned burnt butter. It’s definitely an indulgent dish.

Brotzeit also offers the Chicken Supreme (P490) as part of its 2020 menu. This tasty chicken is served on bell pepper and potatoes casserole with charred red bell pepper fondue.

Now let’s welcome the main event of the evening, the Brotzeit Prosperity Platter (P3800). This gigantic feast is good for six to eight persons so everyone will be in a festive mood, especially with their mugs of German beers.

The Prosperity Platter starts with an assorted set of German sausages. It also comes along with a side of bacon onion pies and roasted potatoes served with black truffle sauce.

The crunchy and juicy Pork Knuckle is the highlight of the platter. This is what I always look forward to having whenever I visit Brotzeit and I’m glad to see again here. Its crunchy skin and tender pork is always a meat lover’s dream.

There’s more meaty dishes included like the Grilled Pork Chops. These thick-cut pork chops are oven roasted and served with Mandarin orange vinaigrette. Can I have some rice, please?

Seafood lovers will also enjoy the Salmon Spinach Strudel, a herb-marinated Norwegian salmon baked in phyllo and served with garden salad and sour cream dressing. Everyone will have their own favorites when you order the Prosperity Platter so make sure to celebrate the upcoming year at Brotzeit with these new 2020 dishes.

#LatePost A week or so ago, I happened to be at Shangri-La Plaza mall and remembered the Blue Kitchen kiosk and their Dulong. Unfortunately, they ran out of the toasted bread. What’s Dulong without it?
