Shanelle Dyer vs Luisa Fernanda Cifuentes | PFL Paris

PFL has managed to round up a couple of very fun strikers as prospects at women's 125lbs. The UK's Shanelle Dyer (4-0) looks like a blue chip MMA prospect. She's an experienced kickboxing and muay thai fighter who has taken very quickly to MMA. She's a fantastic natural athlete to boot. She's apparently won a bunch of titles around Europe before transitioning to MMA. And at 23 years old, it really feels like we're looking at a future contender. She's also trained by former UFC bantamweight Brad Pickett.

Dyer will face off with Mariam Torchinava (9-2) at PFL Europe 2 this Saturday (June 8) which will be in Newcastle.

PFL has somehow found themselves two elite striking prospects at women's flyweight coming out of the UK. One (Dakota Ditcheva) is fighting in the PFL flyweight final for $1 million. The other is Shanelle Dyer (5-0) who is tearing her way through the PFL Europe women's flyweight tournament in hopes of joining the big show next year. She has looked phenomenal in her short career. She's an electric striker with a dynamic arsenal who is showing a developing grappling game. And she's putting women away in fantastic fashion.

Dyer will look to advance to the final of the PFL Europe flyweight tournament this Saturday (Sept. 28) as part of PFL Europe 3. She will face off with Italian Valentina Scatizzi (3-2).

We got a bunch of big MMA cards going down today as well as the K-1 Grand Prix. All the cards are in Europe or Japan so, be mindful of start times.

We have PFL Europe 2024 3 from Scotland. We have the playoffs for their tournament. Some good prospects on that card, including Shanelle Dyer. But also veterans like Stevie Ray, Rob Whiteford, and Roger Huerta. Card starts at 12 pm ET.

The UFC is in Paris this week. Some good fights on the card with some recognizable names. Renato Moicano vs Benoit Saint Denis and Nassourdine Imavov vs Brendan Allen in the headlining spots with appearances from Joanderson Brito, Charriere, Ludovin Klein, Taylor Lapilus, Jacky Cavalcante, Nora Cornolle, and more. Not bad. Card starts 12 pm ET too.

More women’s boxing! The WBO Lightweight title is on the line as champion Rhiannon Dixon takes on former 140lb champ Terri Harper. Plus it features Olympic champion Galal Yafai, which is cool. Card starts at 2pm ET.

We have a big card going down in Japan tonight. RIZIN 48 will be free for via RIZIN TV! Which is dope! Plenty of fun fights on the card. Satoshi Souza vs Luiz Gustavo for the LW title, Naoki Inoue vs Soo Chul Kim for the BW title, Yuki Motoya vs Olympic wrestler Shinobu Ota, Seika Izawa vs Kanna Asakura, Yusuke Yachi vs Sho Patrick Usami, and more. Great intro card for people who have never seen RIZIN. Card will start at 1am ET for those in the US.

-sigh- K-1’s 55kg world Grand Prix continues. Sadly, no legal way to watch outside of Japan. Iykyk though and there are ways to watch. All the big hitters are on this one - Yuki Yoza, Taito Gunji, Liu Ce, Masashi Kumura, Akihiro Kaneko, etc. card starts at 10:30 pm ET tonight.

Former UFC title challenger Taila Santos is headed to PFL to compete in the PFL flyweight regular season.

Santos, Liz Carmouche, Juliana Velasquez, and Dakota Ditcheva. And maybe Shanelle Dyer and Jena Bishop. That could be a really interesting women’s flyweight tournament to be honest.

Didn’t get to talk about her yesterday but Shanelle Dyer really impressed me in her PFL debut yesterday (not this fight). She’s a 22 year old flyweight out of England. Great kicker. Fantastic use of teeps to attack, keep herself safe and then feint off of to hide her offense. Apparently Dyer has a Muay Thai background, which explains the elbow here. Has a big bright future ahead of her if she continues developing and staying active. Made her pro debut this year and is already up to 3-0.
