Personality
Jaekey appears to be a bright and confident woman, though it often becomes difficult to figure out what her motives might be in certain situations. She sometimes doubts herself, often indulging in alcohol. Though a temporary solution, she seems to be someone who can bounce back as if nothing was getting her down in the first place. Much like Luci she is an enabler, often convincing the trio to do things even more outrageous than what Luci suggests. Quick witted with a dark sense of humour. It's clear that she cares very deeply for the three friends she had acquired and is quick to attack if she feels any of them are in danger. She knows her alignment but to others it's unclear, aside from Luci.
Background Despite being born in the kingdom of Crystalis to the noble Lefebvre family, Jaekey's life was anything but paved in gold. With unheard of abilities when both of her parents were human, she quickly became viewed as a curse; The Omen of Crystalis. Scientifically, it was proven not possible to be an entirely different species from your parents; thus her family defected and travelled beyond the barrier protecting Crystalis. After more than a decade of running, tragedy struck when Jaekey's parent's sacrificed themselves to protect her, also hoping that she'd be freed from her curse. False promises had been made; Jaekey was not protected but left abandoned.
Being fifteen years old when she lost her parents, she was left to wander the country alone with no true understanding of her abilities. For weeks she wandered aimlessly, drifting from town to town and kingdom to kingdom trying her best to blend in with the society there until she found herself in a town of fellow shapeshifters. Not caring about her past, the citizens welcomed her into their community where she remained for ten years, learning about and honing her own shapeshifting abilities. However, Jaekey found herself growing tired of living in such a small town; she showered them with an appreciation for all they had done to assist her. While this was true, if Jaekey remained within the town any longer, it would become far too dangerous for the permanent residents of this community.
It wasn't terrifying to venture the open world anymore now that Jaekey had a grasp on her shapeshifting abilities and actually had a chance to grow up with love and support from the family that took her in. Jaekey gained newfound confidence that allowed her to blossom into a bright young woman, even with the demons that haunted her. Unbeknownst to Jaekey, soldiers of Crystalis had been on the hunt for her, inquiring about her possible whereabouts despite not knowing what she looked like or what she was capable of. With years of no leads, the search for Jaekey Lefebvre was declared a lost cause, even when she was right under their nose.
Stepping forward approximately two years, Jaekey found herself entering Dreamland where she meets Bean, Elfo, and Luci in the midst of their shenanigans, getting herself caught in the middle. With them running away from something, Jaekey intervened, shapeshifting herself to look exactly like Bean, leading the chase in an entirely different direction, fueled merely by her curiosity. The stunt hadn't gone unnoticed by the trio who left the kingdom until the heat was off of them. Jaekey managed to avoid the authorities, shifting her appearance multiple times until they lost track of her and gave up.
Ultimately this leads her to meet the trio; thus her actual story begins, at least, the story that mattered.
A Little Further Into The Past Crystalis; an enchanted kingdom in a northern part of the country where all species of beings big and small reside together in peace, harmony and prosperity. This kingdom has not seen a conflict in centuries, protected from the world living around it until it was cursed by the birth of a shapeshifter in a noble family of humans. She was an omen.
During a brutally cold winter, she was born; chaos ensued instantly. The very foundation of the kingdom crumbled breaking the centuries-long peace when the population divided into various factions. These factions supported multiple causes such as reuniting the kingdom back to its peaceful state where everyone belonged, breaking the foundation further as not to let it be repaired, and ultimately eliminating the omen that had been delivered to them. The truth; there was no longer a chance for Crystalis to overcome the wedge between its people, Crystalis was doomed. Even if the omen were destroyed, it was an eternal curse fueled by the divide.
The Lefebvre family was the first to defect against the kingdom and its laws, taking with them their daughter. Despite the couple's only child being labelled as the omen, they would not cease protecting her. The solution, forging their allegiance to a neighbouring kingdom that sought to destroy Crystalis and all it stood for. Darren and his wife Meredith were hunted like wild animals for years; not even their new alliance could protect them. Sacrifices had become the only option, so Darren and Meredith offered their lives in exchange for their daughter's. The night that followed their declaration, their lives were savagely ripped away.
Sacrificing themselves was a nightmare Jaekey couldn't awaken from. Battles fought for nothing, the world of a child was shattered into a never-ending spiral of guilt; her existence to blame.
