If you happen to follow this tumblr, you're going to see more of this handsome man, because I intend to post more. Meet:
Ram "sw17ch" Premis, ork, Swan totem shaman. Originally from Chicago (he's... not really been back many times since it got the moniker "Bug City"), living in Seattle with his now-husband Daak "Int3gr4l" Quaas, a Tír Tairngíre elf whose family may not be super happy about his choice of partner. Daak is a Hermetic mage, keeping his lodge in their shared apartment, sw17ch has his on top of the apartment building they've... taken over. That roof has a small slice of nature, complete with pond. They're trying to build a community in their building, with everyone living there, while running the shadows together with "Ground Control", their team.
sw17ch is handsome, charming, vain and not the best negotiator. His very distinctive personal style makes him... often the person doing some astral projection during runs. Something something "hey I recognise that man!"
First played when it was ingame year 2058, photo is from year 2062.
...I love ShadowRun. Look at me! I can wear a blue mohawk with green tips that glow in UV lighting! Actually almost everything that isn't black on that costume, glows in UV light. Because I felt like it.

For the word prompt thing- possession for any of your OCs
Oval generally doesn't leave the Kreuzbasar, choosing instead to keep to the information highways running within. Letting her ears twitch to hear the conversations in the cafe. Innocently asking the people outside for the news. Prodding drunks into spilling more than they normally would. Listening to private conversations via a tap or two.
She trades in information. There's not usually a reason to leave. She's safe here, and she's rich here. Not in Nuyen, but in ways she never was before. Why trade safety and comfort for more unknowns? Protected, clever, attached at the hip with Kami, and helping keep Altug up to date.
But.
She thinks about leaving. Sometimes.
Not forever! Not even for a whole day, really. Just to pop out and... get some answers.
Only knowing half the story, or all the questions but not the answers, is starting to eat away at her. An acidic pool in her stomach. A spinning wheel in her head that won't rest.
A customer came in one day and spoke to her directly. Waltzed in, sat right down at the counter, and started spilling stories to her. Eyes flickering with... with... mischief? Intent?
Oval assumed it was all gossip, but the stories and rumors the she told her left her haunted. Possessed. She needed answers. And if the answers were just outside her reach...
She never sees the woman again. Every time the door swings open, Oval's horns and mop of curly hair pop out from the back to check, just in case. She'd never forget her-- stark face, sharp tongue, and the snake tattoo running down her forearm. She'd pick her out of a crowd anywhere. But nobody recognize her description. Canvasing and questioning people turned up nothing.
Oval taps her hoof on the ground, staring out the door. Past the door.
One jog out to verify a few facts couldn't hurt, could it?

The Ork Street Shaman, a Better Ork Archetype for Shadowrun (1st Edition)
Definitely a Coyote Shaman.
Black Hole Cat Sweater and Art by @skullchicken
The core rulebook has the Street Shaman as a distinct archetype from the Shaman, though in the interest of adjective parity, the latter should have been termed the Tribal Shaman. And I’ve already made an Ork Shaman, so here’s the Ork Street Shaman.
You’re welcome.

My first fiction cover! For Jennifer Brozek's THE KILIMANJARO RUN, a Shadowrun novella. Challenging piece to paint! I still feel like my comfort zone is a single figure on a simple background, and there's a lot going on here. Vehicles, landscape, transparent spirit animals, etc.

I want to write about Ever and Jing but I've fallen into the trap of simultaneously wanting everything to be as exceedingly lore-accurate BUT not actually wanting to spend time digging into source material
#reading ttrpg manuals for lore/flavor is already such a slog but shadowrun is UNIQUELY dense and opaque imo lmao#I should look into the novels... see what kind of liberties other writers take#I'm already like#oh all insect spirits are solely driven to build a hive/nest and all insect shamans slowly lose their minds to the insect's influence?#mmm... I disagree :/

Shadowrun: Neon Fire on cogdemos.ink
Hi there, fans of cybernetic elves and uzi-toting dwarf shamans!
Shadowrun: Neon Fire, my weird abandoned attempt to fuse a Choicescript game with a tabletop RPG, is now available on cogdemos.ink (it will also still be on Dashingdon until that site disappears later this month). You can find it here.
It won't ever get finished, but there's quite a large amount there, and you may enjoy it if you're into Cog games, TTRPGs, or the Shadowrun universe, so why not give it a go?!

First of all, finally my fucking Internet is back, yay yay for me thanks Secondly I didn't sit and play games all the time, well I did but:
I was bored a few days ago and decided to play Shadowrun. I used in game portraits and created this one human male shaman class charaacter. Handsome lad ain't he.
What I did later, I decided to build some cyberpunk build and what I built is this gritty market warehouse??? still gotta decorate it more.
Well, that's it, most of the time I just played games and decided to get rest from tumblr and sims due to my shitty internet, glknhdhsfdlk;;lk

Can I ask your opinion of a RPG writing trope? I listen to a podcast “System Mastery”, that reviews old RPGs that are no longer in print or first editions of RPGs that are on new editions now. One of the things they can’t stand is the trope of American Indians and Mexicans reverting to horse back, tepees, human sacrifice, worshipping spirits, building pyramids, and etc…. after some kind of apocalypse happens or they go out into the stars or different dimension. Something happens to separate them from the “white men .” They find the idea preposterous and pretty cringey because these books are written by white men usually and show an idolized version of the “noble savage”. They feel, why would natives give up cars, modern medicine, houses, roads, and bunch of other modern things just because there has been some kind of reset.
I can see that point. And I can think of all the games I have seen that trope, Shadowrun and Gamma World are good examples. I have also seen it in some other sci fi games. Interestingly White Wolf has a version of this in the world of darkness setting. The supernatural creatures are worshipped as gods or spirits by the natives. Werewolves by shamans and vampires as descendants of the bloody gods of the Aztecs. On the surface this all does seem ridiculous and can be dismissed as all just being fiction.
However, there is a lot of resentment by natives of having their culture, beliefs, language and so much more being stripped away by people that are invaders. Would they gladly undo the negatives and positives that were introduced by these invading cultures if given the chance? Would they rebuild what they lost just as it once was? I have read some articles and seen some videos about Latin American gangs worshiping their version of the old Aztec gods. And new gods that they have invented for the current times. There are also less violent new gods that have been invented. I saw how some of the old Mayan shamans are keeping the old beliefs alive in the rural parts of central America. And how there is still a lot of blending of native beliefs and Catholic beliefs throughout Latin America.
What do you think? Is there a long simmering longing for the old ways just below the surface just waiting to be released by some sort of catastrophic event?
To this day colonized peoples either maintain their old beliefs or hold some syncretized version. All you have to do is look at the way the Loa or the Orishas survived in the Caribbean, the supplicants of heretical saints like Santa Muerte, or culturally negotiated holidays like Carnaval or Dia de Muertos. Often white people in the US don’t know much about these current practices because A) they don’t care and B) many are private or even secret. Instead our cool, white dude writers and game designers focus on what they DO know, the ancient history of these groups. This is why white coded populations evolve, but non-white coded ones “revert”. It would be nice to see someone who actually knows these groups extrapolate current cultures into futurism, post apocalypse or “returned magic”. I haven’t read Coyote and Crow, but I hear that’s what they’re going for.
I will say that even in the defense of marginalizes groups being “reverted” there is a clear bias. Why would a community give up cars? …Are cars good? Can we honestly look at our communities, our cities, our environment, and unequivocally say, “this is clearly a net good for the world”? Traditional medicine is also frequently shot down by “logical people” until decades in, scientists “discover” analgesic or antibiotic properties. Isn’t it great that we’ve started unlocking the potential of cannabis only 1000 years after the Nahua were using it medicinally?
Hope this addresses your question.
Thanks for writing in!

The Role of Voodoo in Cyberpunk Mythos
Cyberpunk, a subgenre of science fiction, is known for its vision of a high-tech, dystopian future, where the line between man and machine is often blurred. Against a backdrop of neon lights, skyscrapers, and rain-soaked streets, this genre delves into the darker aspects of technology and societal development. Surprisingly, woven into this futuristic fabric is a tapestry of ancient beliefs and mystical practices. One of the most fascinating integrations is that of Voodoo. Let's delve into how Voodoo has been utilized and represented within the vast cyberpunk media landscape.
Voodoo: A Brief Overview
Before diving into its role in cyberpunk, it's essential to have a basic understanding of Voodoo. Voodoo is a syncretic religion born in West Africa and carried to the Americas via the transatlantic slave trade. It blends African tribal rituals with Catholic practices, creating a unique spiritual path focused on ancestors, spirits, and deities known as "loa" or "lwa". Rituals, dances, and ceremonies are essential aspects of Voodoo, aiming to invoke these spirits for guidance or assistance.
Voodoo in Cyberpunk Literature
Arguably, the most famous reference to Voodoo in cyberpunk literature is in William Gibson's "Neuromancer". In this seminal work, Gibson introduces the Voodoo gods as powerful entities within the cyberspace matrix. These deities represent vast artificial intelligences and are worshipped by a group known as the Rastafarians, who see the matrix as a spiritual realm.
Film and Television
In the realm of film and television, Voodoo and its aesthetic often intermingle with cyberpunk themes. The movie "Strange Days" (1995) is a notable example. While not directly referencing Voodoo, the film touches upon themes of memory, experience, and the transfer of consciousness – concepts which resonate with Voodoo's beliefs in ancestral memory and spirit possession.
Anime and Manga
Japanese anime and manga have a rich tradition of integrating various cultural elements into their narratives. "Cyber City Oedo 808" briefly touches upon mysticism and the idea that the digital and spiritual can coexist. Though not directly Voodoo, it echoes the genre's frequent dance with ancient beliefs within a modern context.
Video Games
Video games as a medium have embraced the cyberpunk genre wholly, often merging technology and mysticism. The game "Shadowrun" mixes cyberpunk with magic, including Voodoo-inspired elements. Players can interact with spirits, engage in rituals, and even become shamans, channeling energies that mirror Voodoo practices.
Implications and Interpretations
Why is there a connection between Voodoo and cyberpunk, two seemingly disparate concepts? It can be argued that both revolve around the idea of connection - be it to spirits, ancestors, or a digital realm. In a world where technology has the power to isolate, there's a yearning for connection, whether to our past, our gods, or each other.
Furthermore, cyberpunk often deals with the concept of dualities – man and machine, physical and digital, past and future. Voodoo, with its blending of ancient beliefs and practices in new contexts, perfectly embodies this duality.
In conclusion, the infusion of Voodoo into the cyberpunk mythos serves as a potent reminder that even in a future dominated by technology, the ancient and spiritual will always find a place. As we move forward, it will be fascinating to see how this relationship between the old and the new continues to evolve.

while we're on the topic of ocean's, my friend demanded asked me to adapt the crew over to shadowrun, and after brief debate i gave him this:
Danny: Human. A little bit of everything. Maybe best described as a fixer on the job he set up.
Rusty: street sam human making Danny’s ideas actually work
Linus: street sam elf kid trying to downplay his parentage and shadowrunning & corporate connections
Saul: Ork— maybe even Troll! Qualifies as a face.
Reuben: Human or dwarf— he could maybe qualify as a fixer, but really, he’s Mr. Johnson, in this case
Basher: Ork— rigger or shaman, leaning shaman. Gimme a bit to pick his totem (author's note: I never did that)
Frank: Human mage or adept
Yen: Human adept
Livingston: Ork (satyr) decker.
Virgil & Turk: Ork twin riggers
Tess: human. not involved. (except she is.) face and fixer.

The Dwarf Shaman, a Better Dwarf Archetype for Shadowrun (1st Edition)
Leonine art by @skullchicken
I’ve made a Troll Shaman, an Ork Shaman, an Elf Shaman, so…
The advantage of being a Dwarf Magician is, as demonstrated in the Dwarf Mage, is the +1 Willpower, the only metahuman to get a bonus to that attribute. The bonuses to Body and Strength also suggests a martial totem like Bear or Wolf, though you could always choose Lion and redeem a lapse in judgement from Queen Euphoria.
Attributes:
Body: 3 Quickness: 3 Strength: 3 Charisma: 4 Intelligence: 3 Willpower: 7 Essence: 6 Magic: 6 Reaction: 3
Skills:
Conjuring: 6 Etiquette (Tribal): 3 Sorcery: 6 Stealth: 2
Spells:
Heal Deadly Wounds: 4 Mana Bolt: 6
Gear:
Armor Jacket Survival Kit
Contacts:
Dwarf Technician Shaman Talismonger Tribal Chief

haven't uploaded new art in a while but this was a big labor of love, my shadowrun ballerina shaman Imizael. This image has been in my head for a while and I've been putting it off, but seeing a buddy's art made me want to try studing his style. Either it's a real carousel or a spirit of man idk, but I think if I went back and redesigned her spirits to be more interesting this would get added to the rotation.
This was kind of peak Real Bad Times for her but things are getting better. They'll probably get worse again, but they'll be better for a minute or two at least.
#shadowrun#arky draws junk#imizael the elf#i've got a lot i might post of her#idk ive just felt weird about posting art for a while#it's not very cyberpunky i know but listen hear me out#i can do what i want forever
