Shadow hearts: From the new world

I feel like this game is another example of not listening to the common opinion of a piece of media and giving it a shot for yourself. Cause from what I saw the common opinion is that this game was bad. And finally finishing it I can say that's not the case at all. Does it have issues? Of course. Quite a number actually. Is it the weakest one out of the 4? Yes. But for its own merit the game is still pretty good and is very much worth playing. Johnny Garland will forever be burned into my brain.

Though he was reeling from...everything, it seemed (the memories rushing forth to greet his brain, the sea of emotions threatening to sweep him away, the closeness of Emily here and now, anchoring him amidst it all), Randall had enough clarity to cup her face, brushing her hair back as he breathed, "Emily...there was nothing you could've done. Had you tried to fight her...she would've killed you too."

With startling clarity did he remember his demise, and how struggling against his attacker was so futile: He tried, God knew he tried, but her grip was like iron, and so he was pinned under his hands, so much like claws, as her fangs sank into his throat to drain him dry. He fought with all of his strength, but it was not enough, and he knew it wouldn't have been any better for Emily had she tried to fight her off.

"I'm here, I'm here..." he swore gently, pressing his forehead to hers and squeezing her hands in his, trying to ground her in the moment, to prove that he was real and that he wasn't going anywhere. "Oh God, Emily...I remember...I remember so much!"

Oh, those beautiful nights! Nights were the only time they could see one another, and how they made the most of them-long walks in the moonlight, dancing in the darkened haberdashery, taking turns reading passages from their favorite books...it explained so much about how he felt when he met her-how it felt as if they'd already done so much together. It was because they did!

I can't find good pics, but check out Hildegarde Valentine from Shadow Hearts: From the New World.

She's a vampire with caloric intake dictating her form & combat style. At [Balanced], she takes her pink bat form and can only really harrass enemies. At [Low] she's skinny and is your standard magical girl. At [High] she's "Curvy" and she becomes a melee fighter - her wand turns into a pillar like Sun Wuu Kong's - and she just beats the tar out of the enemy. And it's only addressed in I think 1 cutscene; she's found looking through cook books and says she loves the guy's cooking. The game was REALLY positive & kinda progressive in little ways.

You know what would be a good story? a fat girl vampire.

“She can’t fit in here! I’m safe!” *turns into a gas and slips under the door*

“How come you never go out?” “Well, I never get invited to parties…”

“Come to the gym with me! We should lose weight” “Not in a thousand years.” (incidentally, that’s when she was last alive.)

“You need to go on a diet!” “I’ll start with you.” *literally eats that person*

Penny Blood x From the new world crossover idea.

Matthew from Penny Blood gives off Riku vibes.

Penny Blood is the spiritual sucessor to Shadow Hearts.

In its 3rd entry "From the new world", the protagonist Johnny gives off Sora vibes. So doing a crossover where Matthew was Johnny's rival turned friend when they were teenagers would be interesting.

Prequels work better when they are additive and its a fun play on shonen battle manga tropes.

the Kairi counterpart is up for grabs and probably a new character.
