i thought about danny sexbang being shadow academy-ified here. after so long, i might have an outfit idea for this

danny’s outfit would be a black cloak and gloves to match the aesthetic from the debut album and most of their earlier photoshoots

however, at the end of the cloak would be gradients of bright colors (think of the aurora borealis, or maybe the way shoocharu animated “Once and Never More” with dark mixing in with the light)

idk. this is all i have so far, but i know his makeup will be his eyes just covered in eyeliner. as for the lore? idk either

my music taste this post month has gone from Vocaloid (mostly Miku and kaai Yuki) to Shadow Academy (via starbomb, nsp and sbassbear) and I think the only person I can blame is myself and my frankly concerning obsession with the Game Grumps...

My two fav new songs from this year were workout jams about defiance

Most of my new listening in 2022 was actually releases from previous years that I just now checked out, but two tracks that actually CAME OUT IN 2022 that were in heavy rotation were:

Clutch, "Nosferatu Madre" (from Sunrise On Slaughter Beach, September 2022) Frankly this one's just plain a fuckin banger. I've liked Clutch since my roommate introduced me during our sophomore year of college, and I'm glad they're still going strong. The instrumentation (esp the drums) is great --not to mention I've done approximately ten zillion reps to this one-- plus it's about being a badass witch and exacting revenge on Puritans from beyond the grave. Classic Clutch shit.

Shadow Academy, "Invisible" (from self-titled debut album, February 2022) Serious mid-80s Journey vibes. I'm usually not this keen on clean, slick production (I need music to be at least a little fucked up to really connect with it), buuut hearing this through the filter of the past few years gave it a personal meaning that the lyricist probably didn't intend. This song makes me feel motivated, in an almost vengeful way. It encourages me to regard the things that make me feel "invisible" as sources of strength and stealth rather than as faults, and gives me a little more courage to make the art I want without hedging against bad faith interpretation. Save your vacant threats, I'll dance around your wasted breath. That, and frankly it's a fuckin turbo boost when out jogging. Beat my best time when I had this on repeat.

Behind them are hills with more gravestones, and a starry sky complete with a full moon.

I redid my piece based on Shadow Academy's song Cast No Shadow, which is itself based on Dracula! Cannot recommend their album more.
