Dovey *furious*: Why the fuck are you doing this all the time?
Lesso *frozen in motion; confused*: What do you mean?
Dovey *gesturing aggressively*: This entire suicidal behavior of yours!?
Lesso *looking at Dovey and raising an eyebrow*: We are heroes and villains, we are constantly on suicidal quests.
Dovey *clenching her teeth*: That's - That's not what I mean!
Lesso: Then, what then?
Dovey *now really furious*: IT SEEMS LIKE YOU WANT TO FUCKING DIE.
Lesso *silent*
Dovey: Why...?
Lesso *quiet and emotionless*: It's not that I want to d-
Dovey *suddenly exhausted*: Please don't bullshit me, Lady Lesso.
Lesso *looking away, doesn't say anything*
Dovey: Leo...
Lesso: I'm sorry...
Dovey *slowly raising her hand, carefully touching Lesso's arm*
Lesso *flinching*: Clarissa-
Dovey *cutting her off*: No, I'm sorry Leo. *pulls her into a hug*
Lesso *biting her lip with such a force until it started bleeding, trying to fight back the tears*
Dovey *stroking Lesso's back*: It's okay Leo. I'm here. Always.

Sleeping Beauty!AU
There were legends about a sleeping beauty on the top of an enchanted mountain, where predatory flowers and animals are placed around the castle, and a dragon lurks in the tower itself, guarding its princess. Many dared to save the girl, whose beauty was described as unearthly, but no one ever came back. Neither warriors, nor troops, nor knights of orders, nor princes or kings, the dragon does not spare anyone.
There, on the highest tower, around gardens and alleys, a sorceress slept on silk sheets, and only a kiss of true love could wake her up.
And described by the dragon, the Fairy Godmother who disappeared without a trace centuries earlier, heartbroken and guilty, hides from the world and hides her love, for whose soul hundreds of people came.
[English is not my native language, there may be mistakes]
A story in which Rafal, in a fit of jealousy, casts a sleepy spell on Dovey, but Lesso takes the brunt of it. Dovey does not know that Lesso loves her back and does not dare to kiss her. She protects her from dangers for several centuries, until Sophie and Agatha get to the tower.

there’s a lot of emphasis on eye color in sge. I may be the only one to have noticed it but since I finished the prequels it’s been something I think about a lot
Rhian’s eyes are blue and Rafal’s eyes are green. In the main series, green typically represents Evil (in book 3, there was a lot of emphasis on green lighting in the castles), and Sophie’s emerald eyes are a key characteristic of hers. Tedros’s eyes are blue, representing Good (the boy’s towers in the Good castle are blue).
Green means Evil and blue means Good. But there are moments where Rafal and Sophie do something Good or something in the name of Good, even if some people consider it Evil (using black magic to save their closest friends, taking the Storian to the heart for someone they love). There are times where Rhian and Tedros did something Evil, or something they thought was Good but wasn’t (declaring war on Evil, hating others, stealing power [mostly concerning the Storian]).
brown I feel represents somewhere in the middle, like they’ve meddled in both sides. Agatha knows tons of dark/Never spells because of her time helping Sophie with her studies in their first year, and Fala (Rafal in disguise) used the Circus of Talents to expose his brother’s plot to cheat. He even declared himself “Fala of Good” as his nationality. They have each been both the victim and the aggressor, usually in the name of love for someone they care about.
in general there’s TONS of emphasis on appearance in this series, especially eye colors. Being ugly is an Evil trait and being beautiful is a Good trait, but throughout the whole series — including the prequels — the characters have flipped things around, and it’s awesome, it’s one of the several things I seriously love about this series

okay so a common theme in sge is that Good becomes Evil and Evil becomes Good, right? The lines become super blurred during the series and I see that lots in Rise and Fall
Rhian being Evil: cheating, manipulating, giving Evers fingerglows too early, pride/self-righteousness, contemplating murder, actually killing people, declaring war, hating his own blood, even being a light sleeper (Nevers are known as being insomniacs)
Rafal being Good: being protective, self-sacrificing (the scene near the end of Rise where Vulcan tries to kill Rhian), fighting for balance, fighting to make things fair, fighting to love, fighting to forgive, fighting to regain trust, helping his students with the Circus of Talents, even being a heavy sleeper (Evers are known for falling sleep easily and deeply)
both of them blur the lines between Good and Evil so much and it’s blowing my mind, not to mention how their dynamic is fairly similar to Sophie and Agatha’s … only Agatha and Sophie were able to forgive and love each other again while Rhian ends up dead by Rafal’s hand. the scene where Vulcan tried to kill Rhian with the Storian, but Rafal took the blow instead, and because of the brother’s shared love and loyalty he was healed? The same thing happened between Sophie and Agatha at the end of book one, where Rafal tried to kill Aggie with the Storian but hit Sophie instead, and Agatha’s kiss brought Sophie back. I think that was intentional.
Soman Chainani is a legend and you should go read his books (please)

James X Kyma-- Why I don't ship
Did it have potential? Possibly. I wouldn't have minded it if it was developed since book one and James didn't have as much history with Rafal.
Is it for poor single Rafal who didn't get anyone? Eh, not that either. (Though the lack of closure was admittedly annoying.)
I just felt like I could relate to Kyma about the whole boys thing, and the way James treated her in the beginning was similar to my experiences. (Basically, immature, rude, even physically violent boys. Mostly the former though)
Maybe they would have been better if James slowly outgrew his belief that girls are a waste of time and they became a platonic pair. But honestly, I'm questioning if James even realized the error of his ideas, because to the very end, he had some of the "me and the boys mentality."
And when James was consumed by Rhian's magic in that one part where he physically hurt Kyma-- no. I'm sorry, but that's a big nope for me. I don't care if he was "possessed" or whatever. How can any girl love someone after that?? He was choking her. And when she "saves" him, that also felt off, because it reflects the whole idea that women can save their man from his vices and problems! She just has to love him! Which shouldn't be a message to people, because nobody can save anybody from their vices if they aren't the person themselves. Also, this was after he saved her, so this seems to be this push-pull thing where it's frustrating, and Kyma deserves something happier than that to be honest.
James saw loving a girl as a distraction to his goals, got defensive over Kyma asking a question to me/confronting him, and even gave her what she herself called a "backhanded compliment." Immature boy but he gets the girl in the end. Aladdin was also superficial and immature.
I could tell James respected Rafal-- a guy-- and he sure as hell didn't see him as an obstacle or he being attractive an issue. he invited him to Neverland. But with Kyma? The whole "because you're pretty" was just so... off and the way he kept putting her down for being on the crew was annoying.
So yeah, i dislike the ship because James seemed to be that kind of boy towards her.
(Also, I wonder if Rafal would have done to a girl what he did to James. because if he was willing to do that to a female, that'd look hella pathetic. But I'm sure I would see a bunch of sexist takes, like "she's a whiny bitch being mean to my blorbo" bullshit.)
