My Fire Emblem Fates Incorrect Quotes
Here's 25 incorrect quotes I made into Fire Emblem Fates conversations because I love incorrect quotes so much.
NOTE: I made up at least one of the quotes myself. Try and guess which one(s) was/were mine.
Tumblr media
(I've posted this here before but was under the meme umbrella.)
Tumblr media
(I don't actually ship these two, this is just based off their actual support convos.)

Okay I know Ryoma normally isn't like this so here's some context: Elise was being really mean to Sakura just before this quote happened.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I saw this quote from @incorrect-omori-quotes and the date mentioned just happened to be Ryoma's birthday so I made this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm nearly always inflicting some sort of mental trauma on Ryoma so that's why he's "fucked up".

I know I've mentioned this before, but I keep thinking back to how funny it is that Setsuna and Azama were the retainers who stayed in Revelations. As much as she cares about them, Azama and Setsuna are the least retainer like Retainers in the game.
Setsuna and Azama were introduced to the player in chapter 8 of Birthright by Setsuna falling into a trap, and Azama laughing at her. Then, Azama points out that he has no weapons so it will be Hinoka protecting him, while Setsuna falls into yet another trap. Hinoka ends that particular conversation with these words.
"Gods. I knew I couldn't rely on the two of you, but this is worse than I imagined! Just try and hold it together long enough for us to see this through, all right? Maybe Ryoma and Takumi can help me babysit, once we finally catch up to them..."
Setsunas support topics
Trap supports full:- 3 Corrin, Jacob, Silas
Supports involving traps:- 7 ,Kaze, Kaden, Takumi, Ryoma (most of it is about Archery, but traps come back in the A support), Selena & Arther(also about shopping), Hinoka and Setsuna make it through most of their support chain about learning to cook something edible before Setsuna comes across mouse traps. So close
Supports involving hunting- 4. Takumi, Kaden, Kaze, Hayato.
Trap free supports and topics:- 8. Subaki, Saizo, Kagero and Hana - training, Azama -cooking, Hayato -Her ability to hum, Hinata-medicine, Niles- privilege.
Setsuna can grocery shop. Seems to be able to cook when not being experimental. Can lure animals by humming to kill them, would instantly destroy the message in a game of broken telephone, has trouble following directions (probably beacuse she gets so distracted), comes from a rich family, and is good at archery. It once took her a day to make it to the archery range beacuse she fell into every trap in the vicinity, and got upped in the S support where it took two days.
To contrast the diffrence between Setsuna and Saizo as retainers, we look at his support with her. Saizo ensures Ryoma is asleep first, gets up before him, gets his clothes and breakfast, and watches for Hazards. In contrast, Setsuna goes to bed, wakes up in the morning after Hinoka has put out her clothes and breakfast for her, and then goes to practice archery, where presumbly based on other supports, she gets caught in a trap. Hinoka Just straight up decided "shes hopless at everything in retainering but archery, so I might as well learn to enjoy the chores." Both Saizo and Kagaro are trying to teach her how to do her job better and are not seen succeeding.
One more stat. S support proposals that involve traps: Corrin, Jacob, Kaze, Silas, Takumi, Kaden, Ryoma, Arthur.
Now lets do Azama. And start with a Quote from his conversation with Arthur.
"Hahaha. Me? Support her? Listen, I barely do anything. SHE supports me. You're not likely to meet a tougher customer anywhere in the world"
Like Setsuna, someone takes Azama on for retainer training. Unfourtunatly for for the people who need to work with them, its Felicia, which means this does not happen before he and Setsuna are the only retainers left between the Hosidan older siblings.
Azama is a weird holy man. He has killed a bear durring meditation lessons, drove Sakura to anger strongly enough that she snapped a staff in half, doesn't want to bother to try healing people he feels are certian to die yet goes out of his way to heal Effie, has been Hinokas retainer for years, and is insanely presumptuous when proposing to a lot of people including both royal ladies. He also apparantly teases people he has feelings for, and genrally does not have the manor one would expect of the healer or monk. He's aggravating.
Hanas and Subaki's support is around training, in baffling ways.
Beruka, Mozu, Orochi, Hinoka, Hayato, Kagaro, Oboro, and Kaden all invole Azuma being a strange person, and usually insulting them. Arthur is the one who discovers his backstory.
"The rumor is that you were the second son to a family that ran a shrine for many years. You were a troublemaker who loved to mouth off about everything. But after trekking through the woods, you discovered the ascetic lifestyle. And eventually you settled down enough to be suitable for monkhood. Is that all true?"
And apparantly, it is true.
"I also heard that when you were training in the mountains, you met a pegasus rider. She had fallen and injured herself. That rider was Lady Hinoka. She was so impressed with your conduct that she searched high and low to find you. When she finally did, she requested that you become her retainer. In fact, I heard that you're the only person she named to the palace guard. "
(Of course this is all based in english translation. I wonder if the Japanese gives more details about them that I missed. )
Save that there were 2 people Hinoka named to the palace guard. Azuma and Setsuna. The two personal retainers who didn't defect to corrins army. (Yukimura is loyal to Hoshido first and foremost.) Saizo and Kagaro left in chapter 11. The Hoshidan older siblings don't join Corrin's army until chapter 16, five chapters later. They meet in chapter 13, in Cyrkensia, and can make their betrayal known. It appears durring that time, Ryomas been hanging with Scarlett, while Hinoka has been defending the home.
Which means, their inability to be typical retainers has been Yukimuras problem and the castle defence. And it seems to have made them more serious. Or at least, have a better introduction.
Azama: "I apologize for interrupting this happy family reunion, Lady Hinoka...but you have forgotten to introduce us, your loyal retainers."
Corrin: "Huh? You are...?"
Azama: "I am called Azama. If you make foolish mistakes and injure yourselves, I can put you right."
Setsuna: "Um... I'm Setsuna. I'm good with...a bow. ...Azama... You are standing on my foot."
Azama: "Ahaha! My apologies!"
Hinoka: "As Azama said, these two are my retainers! Don't judge them by appearances; they come through when it counts."
Still does not seem to change the fact that Hinoka is the one making breakfast. Yukimura is here pulling his hair out.

Setsuna sat aside, in the shade of a wiry elm tree and hummed a little tune to herself. It was nice to have some time to herself, feel the whisper of a cool breeze on her face whilst she performed maintenance on her bow. Putting in the elbow grease and respect her partner in battle deserved meant a lot to her. She trusted and relied on her bow for so much, it was only right to treat it, well, right.
As she scrubbed up and down the curve of the bow’s limb until it was fully polished, a strange shadow came overhead and Setsuna sighed. There went her afternoon as she looked up and into the light, she saw the fiery red hair of her lady. Her head filled in the sun and all of Setsuna’s gaze.
Hinoka offered a smile and a greeting, “How may I assist you today, Lady Hinoka?” Setsuna could have sworn she had today off, a rarity in war, but if she was mistaken, it would not be the first time.
“I want to get better at archery.” Hinoka announced. “Will you teach me?”
“Why?” Setsuna asked, point blank and with her head tilted to the side.
Hinoka could practically hear how Setsuna blinked at her owlishly in confusion. She just shook her head and that bewildered Setsuna all the more.
“You have a brother who is perfectly capable…” Setsuna weakly offered with a hand gesture to match. “He wields the divine Fujin Yumi, even, I have a mere silver bow and you are an expert with spears and the naginata, what more could you desire when it comes to the art of war?”
“I know, Setsuna,” Hinoka somewhat withdrew, her stance changed, she placed her hand to her chin and her brows deepened, “but I fear our battles will only get tougher from here on out. How am I meant to protect my family if I feel as though I am lagging behind? Stagnating? I want to upgrade my class using a Master Seal but first, I need to prove myself by presenting talent and hard work in a new skill.”
“Fair enough.” Setsuna shrugged. She picked herself up, her bow too, and smiled. “I would be honoured to help you, Lady Hinoka.” Though, she would be lying that there wasn’t a sliver of obligation in between her teeth.
“Great, thank you so much! I know I can rely on you.” Hinoka cheered.
Setsuna tucked her bow under her arm and with her hands now freed, she shook out her dress for dust and grass. It fluttered to the ground and once she was satisfied she was ready, Setsuna walked off to the training grounds with Hinoka in tow.
Completely and utterly oblivious, as per usual, that she was about to walk into a trap. Though, to be fair to Hinoka, she was also oblivious that she had done such a thing to snare Setsuna at all.
The training grounds were spacious and for such a pleasant afternoon, empty, too. The gravel underfoot had been long worn soft by the trampling of fighters. The training dummies had seen better days with straw falling out of their limp bodies but it was good enough.
Especially since this was not Hinoka’s first time with a bow.
Right now, as Setsuna stood side by side with her mistress, standing in the sun and gentle wind, she would assess that, at most, Hinoka would need a refresh. Some practice to shake off the dust and remind her of the basics before they move into drills or heck, even ending the session. That was Setsuna’s hope, anyway, as she was sure that Hinoka would return to the spirit of the bow quite well.
Just like the other royal siblings, Hinoka had been given all sorts of toys growing up. She just so happened to take to the spear and naginata most akin to a child prodigy. It was good to be well rounded and now was the time to brush up on everything that she had forgotten over the years as she strove towards the transformation of a Master Seal.
“I’m not sure how good of a teacher I'll be but I’ll try.” Setsuna said.
“I’ll do my best to listen well then.” Hinoka grinned.
She was so gungho and enthusiastic… Setsuna felt the exact opposite as she talked Hinoka through the basics from once upon a time. Get good at them, she could get good at plenty.
“So stand like this,” Setsuna said and she pointed limply at the dirt, “and straighten your back,” she didn’t, “and breathe like so.”
She did demonstrate what she meant by that last one but her exhales came across more like sighs to Hinoka. Hinoka who was, by the way, doing the absolute most that she could with Setsuna’s “do as I say, not as I do” teaching style.
Hinoka all but glinted in the afternoon sun, taking upon the proud stance of a Hoshido archer. Her shoulders pushed back, her breast forward, her feet hips’ width apart. She borrowed Setsuna’s bow and she stretched its drawstring with all the calculation of an experienced sniper.
   “Okey-dokey, now draw.” Setsuna said.
Here, Hinoka’s elegance as an amateur archer was tested. From the outside, she looked perfect. She squinted with one eye closed, her back muscles were tense but not inflexible, her arm was straight as, well, an arrow. Then, when she released, all expectations flopped.
The released arrow fizzled before it could even go straight past the dummy. It crash landed two feet away from it as it was battered by the wind which was barely there. Hinoka and Setsuna both stared at the disappointment. The arrowhead was buried in the ground and its feathered tip lost flounce as neither Hinoka nor Setsuna could quite believe that their work was more cut out for them than initially realised.
“What do you think went wrong?” Hinoka asked.
“I have… no idea.” Setsuna confessed breathily.
She tapped Hinoka’s ankle with her foot, prompting her to get back into position. So, she jumped back into place, looked just as she did before. Setsuna hummed as she tried to figure out where the problem was. Hinoka’s stance didn’t seem like an issue. She had plenty of strength and core muscles. It had to be something smaller, near imperceptible, even.
It had to be in her hands - or more accurately, her fingers. That was the only thing Setsuna could come up with as her eyes traced Hinoka’s form with the utmost of analytical sharpness.
Given that a spear used all of Hinoka’s hand, she likely didn’t have calluses where they would be most beneficial to an archer. She used her whole hand as a single unit rather than each finger as their own, individual instrument.
“I’m going to correct you, if you don’t mind, Lady Hinoka,” Setsuna said and she didn’t know why but she felt the sudden flutter of butterflies in her stomach, “it’ll involve lots of… touching.”
“No problem at all, Setsuna, I’m your student, I trust you completely.” Hinoka chirped.
   “Ah, that’s good.” Setsuna murmured.
She tweaked Hinoka here and there. She moved Hinoka’s arms along and fleetingly admired her musculature. He poked and prodded Hinoka’s fingers, loosening them up and tightened Hinoka’s overall stance so it better matched the platonic ideal of an archer but it wasn’t good enough. There was still something ever so minorly awry, Setsuna was certain if Hinoka tried again, it would be the same result.
Setsuna sighed. She needed to be closer and she tried. She tried. But Hinoka was a lot taller than her, differently built. Setsuna felt wrong and small as she decided to stand behind Hinoka and correct her posture that way. Setsuna blushed as she brushed against Hinoka’s posterior and got far too acquainted with her hips.
“This isn’t going to work either.” Setsuna huffed, annoyed.
The alternative, she discovered, was far worse but it got the job done.
If Hinoka in front and Setsuna behind was ineffective since Setsuna couldn’t properly reach around to demonstrate the proper use of a bow, then they tried the reverse. Hinoka laughed, cheery, as she enjoyed being that whole head taller than Setsuna, her chin just over Setsuna’s crown. She stood behind her, close, flush, and mimicked Setsuna’s posture.
This was, admittedly, far better. Hinoka literally moulded herself around Setsuna and held her bow with her. This was far more informative for Hinoka.
Illuminating, however, for Setsuna as she realised something about herself. Ass or tits: the immortal question of preference and aesthetics, a question she now had an answer to as she was, apparently, in favour of tits.
The tips of Setsuna’s ears reddened and she had to grit her teeth to stay focused. Difficult since Hinoka’s bust was right behind her head, brushing up against her, teasing her with how periodically soft and firm they were. It was embarrassing, Setsuna could hardly focus.
Actually, that was a lie. She could focus. Just on the wrong thing.
She attempted to huff and puff, hoping that would dispel all illusions that filled her head but it did little.
   “Try now.” Setsuna grumbled.
She nudged against Hinoka, elbow first to draw back her drawstring. She nocked it, hard, hoping that would knock some sense in to her but no dice. Meanwhile, Hinoka did fine despite Setsuna’s brusque approach.
Hinoka followed the movements exactly how she should, committing how it felt and the tension intrinsic to it. When Setsuna took a breath, she took a breath, too, and it was clear of day, she was capable of staying on topic. She absorbed all of Setsuna’s worries and turned them into concentration, into learning. How respectable, honestly, it made her a true maiden of nobility.
Not at all like Setsuna. Her mind was sullied by all sorts of naughty thoughts as she was flush against Hinoka and, in particular, her bust. Setsuna felt trapped, somehow, by Hinoka’s body and the feelings that it was inciting. Just as Setsuna was hyper aware of Hinoka, she was just as cognizant of her own body. She just hoped that Hinoka could neither feel nor sense it, the way her heart pounded, her blood rushed. It was all so much as she had to suppress a tremor, a weakness within her because she wanted to swoon like some schoolgirl with a crush.
Setsuna inhaled. She forced herself to sharpen. She figured the best way out of this trap she had so willingly put herself in was to let go of the hold it had on her. The horsehair drawstring ate into the hardened callus of her finger as she put pressure on it: pressure that was about to blow.
   “Here goes nothing.” Setsuna said.
She released her fingers one by one, giving Hinoka the final honour and whoosh.
The arrow they released together and it flew forward like a falcon. It struck the training dummy in its painted on eye, a blur until it hit hard and hit deep. The feathers ruffled in the breeze, the steely arrowhead unseen so deep below the fabric and stuffing.
Hinoka grinned and Setsuna felt every microexpression building up to it. The way her lips quirked, how her shoulders relaxed, and the very pride of her first taste of success and how it welled up in her.
“Good job,” Setsuna said, “let’s see if you can do it by yourself now.”
   “Sure, let’s try!” Hinoka said.
She bounced back and Setsuna had a… mixed feeling. On the one hand, thank goodness. She felt like she was about to blow a gasket from too much close contact with Hinoka of the not sexually satisfying time but on the other hand, she already missed her. Her warmth, the strength that dwelled within her toned body, too. It was a lot.
Regardless, Setsuna handed over an arrow from her quiver and her bow, too, to Hinoka. She smiled, her hands traced over Setsuna’s and Hinoka tried again. Setsuna stepped back and already liked what she saw a lot more than before.
Hinoka was made of bountiful confidence, of course, but this time, it seemed rightful. She knew what she was doing now that she had been refreshed on the basics. Let’s just see if it was going to pay off.
“On your marks.” Setsuna prompted Hinoka.
Hinoka nodded decisively and exhaled a calculated amount. Her shoulders tensed, her feet were in the right place below. Her chin was up as she nocked her bow. The first few steps done and dusted, perfect as perfect could be. Now, for the finale, the truth.
Hinoka released her bowstring, it was taut and then quivered once the arrow soared. It all but blazed through the sky, it's arrowhead glinted in the late afternoon sun. She missed. But that was fine. She was all power as it hit the middle of a tree trunk on the far side of the training ground. Honestly, a far more impressive result than if she had hit the training dummy. Temperance could come later but for a woman like Hinoka, this was absolutely cause for celebration.
Hinoka turned on her heel and pumped her fist, “Let’s go!?” she exclaimed.
Setsuna smiled a small smile and gave Hinoka the applause that she deserved.
She, of course, carried on like a pork chop. Hinoka giggled and hopped closer to Setsuna, expecting praise and straight up taking it in an enormous embrace. She hugged Setsuna violently, bringing her close and lifting her up. Setsuna warbled, eyes fully wide, and her heart racing as Hinoka squished her against her breast.
Hinoka nuzzled against the top of Setsuna’s head, “Thank you, thats why your my precious teacher.” she teased.
“D-Don’t make fun of me.” Setsuna sputtered.
“I would never, I mean it, you are very important to me, Setsuna, as my retainer, now as my teacher in archery… In general, even.” Hinoka confided softly.
She let Setsuna down and Setsuna felt all the blood rush to her boots now that they were on the ground again. She looked up at Hinoka and that sunlike impression she got of her, only burned brighter now as un-retainerly feelings began to take hold.
Their bond deepened but Setsuna was unsure of if those depths were shared or not. If it was purely one-sided on Setsuna’s behalf or if she could dare that there was something more. Regardless if Hinoka felt the same, Setsuna felt more than enough as she stewed with this realisation of how true she felt unto her mistress.
It felt good… to assist Hinoka, to be in service of her and fulfil those expectations without issue. Regardless of how they were spending time, Setsuna was always excited around Hinoka, she brought out a lust for life and now, maybe more. She wanted to help Hinoka more, eat more good food with her that they had made together, to enjoy archery and other pursuits that they were passionate about.
