These six fanarts of one book series based on the actual railway in Norway, weren't posted all together.

Si hallo til Setskogen!

UHB nummer 4 Setskogen er eldst og kanskje klokest på hele banen. Det kommer an på hvem du spør selvsagt.

Hun vet at hun er banens dronning og er vant til å få det som hun vil og har nok blitt litt sær på sine gamle dager. Kanskje litt bortskjemt med at alle har så stor respekt for henne og behandler henne som en skjør antikvitet?

Bingsfos synes hun er litt skummel, og hun gjør ingenting for å forbedre det inntrykket. Hun benytter enhver anledning til å erte det lille dieselloket, og kan nok gå litt for langt av og til.

Innerst inne liker hun Bingsfos, for han er den eneste som ikke bryr seg om hvem hun er, han er ikke overdrevent forsiktig eller respekterer henne for mye. Hun finner det faktisk litt forfriskende at noen tør å erte henne. Men det kommer hun selvsagt aldri til å innrømme.... eller?

Bingsfos vet at hun er svak for smiger og ikke sjelden bruker han det for å få henne til å fortelle om gamledager, selv om smigeren ofte er etterfulgt av en dårlig skjult fornærmelse av alderen hennes. For er det noe hun ikke kan fordra, så er det å bli minnet på at hun er gammel.

Hun kan virke gretten og nesten litt slem til tider, men som Høland sier; "Hun er god på bunnen, bare synd at det er så lang ned.". Og nåde den som våger å plage de hun bryr seg om...

Hun har en merkelig redsel for åpen ild og etter et strømbrudd i lokstallen får Bingsfos vite hvorfor... Hvis du er nysgjerrig må du nok lese historien.

Which of these is better? Setskogen has reluctantly agreed to help pull the sleigh... as you can see from her strained smile... Mrs. Claus welcomes her to the team.

Which looks better though? Eyes straight forward, or looking at Mrs. Claus?

Personally I think she looks like she is about to murder the poor lady if she looks at her...

Happy birthday, Setskogen!

Happy birthday, Setskogen! Our beautiful black lady! A slightly cranky lady, but otherwise easy to handle. I was warned how difficult she was to handle beforehand, but after a few days on this beautiful loco I have to say the co-operation issues are greatly exaggerated... She is just a bit determined how she wants it. 😉 That she would reach such an age was not given... Two world wars and a fire at the locomotive shed at Skulerud could have ended the life of this machine a long time ago, but in the old days people did not give up so easily. A machine damaged by fire would probably be scrapped today, but not in 1944... Setskogen was inside the locomotive shed when it burned down to the ground one January night. All attempts to rescue her from the burning building were in vain... But as soon as the ruin had cooled down she was pulled out and taken to the workshop, and already in March of the same year she was out and about again! Less than 20 years later, her existence was again threatened, when the railway was shut down and the equipment sold or scrapped. But a group of enthusiasts managed to save both her and Høland, and thanks to that effort, they both chug around the rebuilt section of tracks to this day. She probably came to UHB a while before the newspaper wrote about her, but in the world of the books we have set her birthday to the day she was first written about since I have not been able to find out exactly when she was put into service. Anyway... 114 is a solid age, but she's still fit for her age. May she live another hundred years!

What's everyone's favorite kind of flower? If they have a preference

"Tulips! All colors!"

"Dandelions at the end of the season... It's fun blowing them on a freshly washed and polished engine and get the seeds stuck on them, so it looks like they've grown fur!"

"I like all sorts of wild flowers that grows along our line! Especially the pink and purple ones!"

"No preference. I like regular straws. They're nice to chew on while working."

"Lupinus. They have nice colors."

"Th-th-they taste like m-metal, oil and so-so-soot, depending if it's a d-di-diesel or a st-steamer..."

"I.... love them........."

"They're pretty chill."

"Mostly. Depends on who it is."

"Not everyone is good at handling me as I can be a bit finicky, but I like them... even if some of them hate me."

"Yeah, especially if they're cooked properly. Needs some vegetables and good sauce to go with though."

"Really, Granis........ No wonder people don't want to drive us..."

Do the steamers ever have any steamy moments?

"All the time! It takes a while to fire us up, but once we're hot enough it sure gets steamy!"

"Ehh... umm...."

"Good grief, you two........"
