The Butterfly Free Heartbreak

Butterflies didn’t roam her chest when he was in her nest

Close proximity and her drunken mess

Found him on the dateline surfs of the night

Late night promenade of deepest thoughts

Connected as one but soon got lost

A gift of remembrance

Of when times were so slow

An apology of a forgiven held grudge

For all at once she had loved

Subsided anger and resentment build within

She couldn’t stand to be mad at the man who brought her this calmness within

Freed from the butterfly tummy curse

She wondered, can it be rehearsed?

Not with him, but another man

She’ll name her first daughter Reagan

After his favorite tv show’s protagonist

All is forgiven and all is lost

Time shaped and torn at each ends

All flaws and notions began

She loved a little less as she felt a bit forgotten

She withdrew mentally, while he withdrew physically

It was time to go

The fate kicked in

The bad parts set in

She was a mad woman

He was a sad man

Broken trust

Demanded the cops

Counterfeit love

Without the butterflies

It wasn’t enough

She thought it would be the one

To fully ride through

Abandoned yet once again

She’ll get her revenge
