"GIRL STRANGLED IN PARLOR AS FAMILY SLEEPS UPSTAIRS," Toronto Star. June 1, 1943. Page 2. ---- Youth, 18, Tells Police Girl Is Dead on Chesterfield ---- AT FORT WILLIAM --- Special to The Star Fort William June 1 - Miss Antonetti Rossetti, 17. Larks St., is dead and an 18-year-old youth is being held by police as a result of an apparent strangulation case here today. The girl, according to police, was found lying on the chesterfield in the front room of the home of her uncle, Antonio Leonzio, who, together with his wife and family, were asleep upstairs, and who knew nothing of the case until police called to investigate.
In a statement issued today, police said the suspect came into the police station about 1 a.m. and reported to the sergeant, Charles Palmer, that the girl was dead.
He is being held by police pending investigation and instructions from the crown attorney.
The youth is said to have given police a letter purported to have been written by himself and to have made a statement.
"As a result," police stated. "Sergt. Palmer and Con. Harry Turner went to the home and found Miss Rossetti dead on the chesterfield, apparently strangled. No weapon or instrument was found."
The suspect, police said, has been living in west Fort William and has been keeping company with the girl.

Yknow all things considered, Blutch and Chesterfield are probably the 22nd cavalry’s best Corporal and Sergeant ever. It’s possible their predecessors never lived long enough to do much of anything, especially considering they were given these promotions on their First Day

Pride festival criticized for “throw a milkshake at Nigel Farage” game
A carnival game at a Pride festival in England over the weekend has been deemed in poor taste and accused of setting “a dangerous precedent” for its call to “throw a milkshake” at far-right British politician Nigel Farage. Farage has been publicly splattered with two milkshakes in the past by people who disagree with his politics. Farage has a long history in the UK of stoking anti-immigrant fervor with his xenophobic policy positions and nationalist worldviews. As leader of the Reform UK party, he pledged to “ban transgender ideology” in schools and stop social transitioning. Related JK Rowling defends Nazi-loving transphobe as activists throw tomato juice at her Posie Parker was met with 5000 protesters in New Zealand after her Nazi-supported protest in Australia. The “Toss a milkshake at Nigel Farage” game was set up at the Chesterfield Pride festival grounds on Sunday by the Chesterfield and North Derbyshire branch of Stand Up Against Racism. The group described it as “harmless fun.” Global perspectives delivered right to your inbox Our newsletter bridges borders to bring you LGBTQ+ news from around the world. Subscribe to our Newsletter today Others did not so much share the group’s opinion, including the intended “victim” of the game himself. “I’m all for a laugh, but this goes too far,” Farage said on Thursday. A Derbyshire local agreed, saying the game was “not just disrespectful, it’s a dangerous precedent.” Police at the Pride festival were alerted to the game, which asked carnival-goers to throw different “flavored” sponge balls at a cardboard cut-out of the Reform UK leader. They declined any action. Prizes for hitting Farage with a “milkshake” included sweets and a Stand Up to Racism badge. A spokesperson for the group sponsoring the game called the controversy manufactured. “We like to think it’s the sort of game that Nigel himself would smile at. He is surely aware that although four million people voted for him, many more object to his views on LGBT rights, women’s rights and migrants,” the group told the Derbyshire Times. “Nobody was harmed and many people had a good laugh and welcomed our presence. Some community police officers did stroll past but clearly thought it was harmless fun, too.” A spokesperson for Derbyshire Constabulary confirmed that it had received a complaint about the stall and added, “The report was reviewed by a sergeant and it was deemed no laws had been broken. No further action is being taken.” Conservative chat show host Alex Phillips, a former member of the European Parliament and colleague of Farage, saw things differently, describing Farage in terms similar to those Donald Trump’s supporters did following his attempted assassination two weeks ago. Nigel Farage's fear of being the next target is a stark reminder of the dangers of political violence. Whether you love him or loathe him, he is doing it for you,” Phillips said. “And frankly, Chesterfield Pride needs to grow up, because they would not accept this if this was against a gay politician.” Chesterfield Pride declined to comment on the controversy. Farage, 60, has been assaulted twice with milkshakes: first in 2019 when a Brexit opponent threw one at him, accusing the then-leader of the Brexit Party of “spouting bile and racism” in the lead-up to European Parliament elections. Farage pushed for Brexit, the controversial plan to withdrawal the United Kingdom from the European Union. English voters approved the withdrawal plan, but critics accused the Brexit campaign of using nationalist, racist, and anti-immigrant rhetoric to… http://dlvr.it/TB7FZ2

Edward Gardner, Co-Founder Of Soft Sheen Products And Titan In Business And Philanthropy, Passed Away At 98
Many are mourning the loss of Edward Gardner, a Chicago titan in business and philanthropy.
Gardner, the co-founder of the hair care company Soft Sheen Products Inc., died Monday surrounded by family. He was 98.
Gardiner and his wife, Bettiann, founded Soft Sheen in 1964. The company grew exponentially, and was the latest Black-owned beauty company in the U.S. by the late 1980s.
Gardner was also known for his dedication to the arts. He and his wife spearheaded the development of the New Regal Theater at 1641 E. 79th St. The theater drew acts from Gladys Knight to Tyler Perry in its years of operation.
Gardner also helped create the nonprofit Black On Black Love, which addressed violence.
In addition, Gardner used Soft Sheen's advertising and communication resources – leveraging an effort to raise $300,000 and staff to mount a campaign that registered more than 200,000 voters 40 years ago, a news release noted. That effort led to the election of Mayor Harold Washington as Chicago's first Black mayor.
At the age of 87 in 2012, Gardner organized more than 1,000 demonstrators on a march to protest a lack of Black workers at a South Side construction site.
Gardner was also a co-owner of the Chicago Bulls and a board member at Chicago United and The Chicago Urban League. He was born Feb. 15, 1925, to Frank and Eva Gardner in the West Chesterfield neighborhood.
Gardner graduated from Fenger High School and Chicago Teachers College-now CSU. He was also a sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II.
His son Gary remarked,
"He was my father, my hero, my teacher," Gardner's son, Gary, said in a news release. "He taught me how to engage people with humanity and humility."
Gardner's daughter, Terri, added: "My father saw the untapped potential of his community. He believed that with access to opportunity, hard work, a quality education and safe neighborhoods, there is nothing we can't achieve."
A private family service is planned. -(source: cbs news)

Marleybonean Dog Breeds
Inspired by this post by @buccaneers-babey
back to your regularly scheduled lore posting
Certain dog breeds seem to be associated with specific occupations/genders in Marleybone. I looked through many of the Dog NPCs in Marleybone (both W101 and P101) and Celestia, and I was definitely able to make some connections. Also, I had no idea that KI had models for twenty-four different breeds (at least). I would have guessed, like, five.
Borzoi
Associated with the Navy. Examples:
Lt. Springer (companion--P101)
Admiral Nelson (Barkeley Square--P101)
Beagle
Seem to range anywhere from wealthy businessmen to poor orphans.
Oliver Twist (Barkeley Square--P101)
Professor Challenger (Barkeley Square--P101)
Cratchit (Isle of Dogs--P101)
Gerry Ramsden (Isle of Dogs--P101)
Bulldog
Pretty variable, but many seem to be in the military.
Bulldog Sergeant Major (Barkingham Palace)
Watson (Scotland Yard Roof) [Of note is the fact that Watson from the original stories worked as a doctor for the British Army.]
Ms. Conrail (Hyde Park)
Reed Treever (Regent’s Square)
Sally Newflower (Royal Museum)
Deirdre Parker (Celestia Base Camp)
Admiral Doggett (Barkeley Square--P101)
Colonel Smeagle (Barkeley Square--P101)
Judge Burble (The Glass House--P101)
Bloodhound
We only have one example, but this breed could easily be associated with detective work.
Sherlock Bones (Digmoore Station)
Cocker Spaniel
Commoner women.
Tracy Castleton (Digmoore Station)
Amy Brooks (Knight’s Court)
Corgi
This breed seems to be associated with the royal family... and with poor maids in gross taverns?? Maybe members of the Marleybonean royal family--never mind.
Queen (Barkingham Palace)
Nancy (Isle of Dogs’ Sewers--P101)
Dobermann
This seems to be the breed of (generally) high-society men.
Arthur Wethersfield (Ravenwood)
The Maestro (Telegraph Box)
Mayor Pimsbury (Digmoore Station)
Mr. Rowley (Hyde Park)
Bill Tanner (Knight’s Court)
Mr. Brownlow (Barkeley Square--P101)

Why I think Blutch and Chesterfield love each other
Hello to everyone who could be reading this! I wanted to exercise myself and do a text analysis, but since it's juste an exercise I thought: ''why not have some fun?'' and here we are. (Also, this fandom really need more content).
So, I don't know if anyone will read this thing but it doesn't really matter. I'm not a professional in analysis, so don't take this too seriously…and last thing, I'm not even an English speaker (I'm french, so yeah) so I'm sorry if there's any mistakes. But I wanted to exercise my English as well as my… analytic mind? Does that make any sense?
ANYWAY. Time to begin.
Just for a reminder: ''Les tuniques bleues'' is a serie of albums about the Civil War in the United States, who opposed the North and the South of the country. The sergeant Chesterfield and the corporal Blutch are soldiers of the North, and the main characters of the story.
I read those albums some years ago, and even at this time (when I was younger) I thought Blutch and Chesterfield were kinda in love. In a strange way, yes, but I liked their relationship really much. Now that I'm older and that I'm re-reading some of the albums, I think that their relationship can be pretty confusing.
Are they friends? Rivals? Or something different than that?
To find an answer, we need to take a look closer on the characters and their personalities (which are very different).
Let's begin with Blutch, my favorite character he's so cool I love him. He's independant, clever and doesn't let anyone take him down (but he's also really resentful and distrustful.)
He had a difficult life before joining the army, as we learn in Vertes Années : he's an orphan (plus his parents left him behind), never had a real parental figure except an alcoholic who had good intentions but never succeed to take care of him (or himself). His life was hard at the orphanage, and still was after he escaped. And by what we saw, he never had any close friend in his life.
Okay, now with Chesterfield. He's brave, obedient and loyal, but temperamental and idealist. He had a pretty good childhood with his two loving parents, and a father who was a soldier. He joined the army to escape a marriage with Charlotte, the daughter of his employer (as we learn in Blue rétro). But he enjoys being a soldier, and he's very loyal towards the army (and often submissive towards his superiors). He's ready to sacrifice himself to accomplish his mission, even ready to kill if it follows his orders.
(I could talk about these two forever, but we're not in a character analysis so let's move on to the heart of the subject).
Blutch and Chesterfield are in a relationship of hate/love, not one after the other but simultaneously. They can insult or hit the other and one second after that kiss each other.
First, they're not rivals. For the simple reason that there is literally no point for them to be rivals. Rivality is being in competition with someone for something, but you can be friend with you rival (like in Pokémon. This is the first example that came to my mind don't judge me). But in our case, they have no reason to be rivals. No same motivation, no same love interest, no unique thing the two of them want.
So, are they friends, or enemies, or lovers? I would say enemies in the beginning. Let me explain myself (I'm literally writing right now so no one's going to interrupt me but…anyway).
In Blue Retro, when the story of their encounter is told, Blutch joins the army because of Chesterfield. That's why he hates him first. As I said, he's really resentful and wants to take revenge on the sergeant. And desert.
But as the time passes, Blutch and Chesterfield literally do nothing without the other. They still fight, but are inseparable. They save each other, are immensely sad when they think the other is dead (as we see Chesterfield cry in Requiem pour un bleu, and Blutch be sick in La rose de Bantry) and kiss the other frequently (yeah, they do that. So heterosexual.)
Blutch still hates the war and want to desert. But does he really want to desert? I mean, we know he's really smart and resourceful. My opinion is that if he really wanted to desert, he would have done it a long time ago. He tries to desert only when Chesterfield can catch him and literally take him back.
In Vertes Années for example, Blutch had the perfect occasion to escape, Chesterfield couldn't catch him. But he didn't: he came back to the army. But why? He hates the army. He doesn't want to fight and despise his superiors. So why? Because he wants to stay with Chesterfield. Even if their relationship is really difficult, the sergeant is literally the only person he has. His only friend, the only person who cares for him (we can see that in many albums like Vertes Années, Baby Blue, or En avant l'amnésique). And Blutch cares for Chesterfield too (as we see in La rose de Bantry, or Bull Run). But Blutch is too proud to accept this. He keeps trying to put the Sergeant away, no let him see his feelings (we can see that in Vertes années), not even admitting that he's his friend most of the times (like in Des bleus et du blues). I think that his life badly damaged his trust, and he's afraid of being letting down by the sergeant. He doesn't want to show that he cares for him, because of pride and maybe fear, so he acts like he truly hates him. That's so sad.
What about Chesterfield?
Blutch always try to desert, and the sergeant always takes him back to the army. Why not let him go? Because he doesn't want Blutch to be killed (I think he said it in Vertes Années, and we clearly see it in Les Bleus de la balle), and also he wants to make him a hero, I guess but that will never happen sorry Cornelius. That, I think everybody get it.
Chesterfield doesn't really tries to hide that he likes Blutch (maybe because he doesn't have trust issues like the corporal). They fight generally because of Blutch's sarcasm and the sergeant's bad temper.
He tries to tell Blutch that he have him, that he's not alone anymore, generally to comfort him (he did it in Baby blue and Indien mon frère). But Blutch always react badly, and Chesterfield gets angry (like in Indien mon frère), which is comprehensible. Chesterfield likes Blutch really much and wants to show it to him, but Blutch don't let him. So the sergeant is offended and they fight. Back to the starting point.
So, they care for each other and like each other. But they are stupid Blutch can't admit it and keep Chesterfield away, who gets angry. That's how their relationship works.
But there is one time in L'oreille de Lincoln where Blutch asks ironically ''You can't live without me, can't you?'' and Chesterfield answers ''No I can't'' and kisses him on the head (very seriously). Blutch was a little upset back then, because he was forced to help someone he despised. And Chesterfield did that to… Calm him down? I don't really know, but it was sweet well done you idiot.
Now, what about their relationship with women?
We all know that Chesterfield loves Amelie Appletown, even if she's not interested, and sometimes nasty to him (except in Des Bleus et du Blues ? I don't know why, she seems nicer here.) But be realistic: she's the daughter of a colonel, who will never let her marry a sergeant. And the colonel hates Chesterfield, as a reminder.
So, he's into Amelie. But does he know her? They never talked one to one. They have nothing in common and they barely see each other. Is this a real love story? In my opinion, the sergeant think of Amelie like the perfect woman: he's idealist, he doesn't really know who's Amelie but he loves what he thinks she is. The ''perfect woman''. But isn't everyone think about the perfect woman/man for them? He idealizes Amelie, maybe he knows he will never have her. This would deserve a character analysis.
Blutch doesn't have a current love interest in the series. He's pretty suspicious towards women, and don't think they are fragile little creatures like the sergeant. In the Nancy Harts, a woman seems to have a little crush on him (even if it was for a ruse at the beginning, she seems to still like him in the end). He's nice with her but doesn't seem to have a crush? I don't know, he's just like ''ok, I guess she's cute'' but he doesn't talk to her or think about her again. Apart from that, he has no interest in any woman they meet.
So they basically have no relationship with women. Amelie and Chesterfield does not have a relationship for me: they meet sometimes and the sergeant fantasm on her, that's it.
Now, let's see their contact with other men. Blutch seems pretty friendly with the other soldiers if they are not his superiors (we can see that in Les Bleus et du blues, for example). His comportement change when he's with the other soldiers, it's clearly not the same when he's with Chesterfield. It must be because his relationship with Chesterfield is different and much stronger than his relations with the other soldiers. Why does he needs to act like he hates the sergeant, but he never do that with the others? Because he isn't afraid of his friendship with the soldiers, it doesn't matter if they let him down. Of course it wouldn't be pleasant, but they're not close enough for that to bother him. Blutch doesn't want to show his feelings towards the sergeant (romantic or not) because that would make him vulnerable. And this is clearly the last thing he wants.
There isn't much to say about Chesterfield on this point because he doesn't have many relation with other men, except Plume d'Argent and George Appletown I guess. The thing to see is that his relationship with Blutch is unique too, because he never act with anyone else like that. They are really special for each other.
We get to my point: why I think Blutch and Chesterfield love each other. Maybe I've taken all of that too far and the authors never thought about all of that, but this is for fun so let's go.
We know now that they care for each other, they are inseparable, they don't have any other relationship with anyone like theirs and they don't want to be apart.
Conclusion: They love each other. Maybe not romantically, but they clearly care deeply for each other. The whole problem of their relationship is Blutch's lack of trust and Chesterfield's stupidity. If after the war they stick together, and I'm sure they'll stick together, they will have time to work on that without the stress and the tension of the war.
So yeah, if both of those idiots survive the war then maybe they will stop their bullsh** and accept that they love each other.
I hope you liked this analysis! If you don't agree with me or want to add something, please do it. I always like to discuss about those things (but don't insult me please I'm not ready for that).
Have a nice day!

Ch 1-Les Brothers d'en face After failing to try to get the Cossacks and a Chinese to join the 22nd cavalry to fight the Sudists
Blutch and Chesterfield return
to Alexander's camp.
after some time after that incident Chesterfield and Blutch managed to hide the lying.
But, their superiors soon discovered everything.
As punishment, the two had to spend a few months in the jail in the camp.
After those long months in jail, their superiors decided to give the two of them a second chance to recruit new soldiers.
Soon they returned to where Mayor Dooley was waiting for them.
"Mayor Dooley?" Asked Chesterfield.
"Yup, Sergeant Cornelius Chesterfield and Caporal Blutch are you here again to try to recruit the new soldiers?" asked the mayor and the two nodded yes.
"Well, I hope the same thing didn't happen with the Cossacks." said Mayor Dooley, looking seriously at the two who were surprised to see that the news went quickly.
"Yes ... and you already knew what happened, didn't you?" chuckled Chesterfield nervous
"Yes, I heard from Captain Stark." replied seriously.
"but, thank your superiors and me because we are willing to give you a second chance." said the mayor, which made a big smile appear on the sergeant's face.
"But a question, what are their names?" It was Caporal's turn to ask.
"Good that you asked that.
he said, going over to a table and handing Chesterfield a paper.
"Here are the names of the two."
answered Mayor Dooley.
Soon, Chesterfield and Blutch looked at both names on the paper, and their eyes widened in surprise.
"Huh? Adrian and Andrew ..." murmured Blutch, until reality made him shook his head.
"wait, are those names ..."
"Yes, they are native to the United States." replied Dooley.
"The two born in Virginia and moved to Missouri to try a new life.
well they are out there, let's say it was a mistake for us to give this mission to try to make those men become real soldiers ... "
said the mayor, sitting in his chair to settle his affairs.
"Good luck." he finished with a smile at the corner of his mouth.
"Thank you Mayor Dooley." he said shaking the mayor's hand and going outside, just as they left the mayor's office they saw some soldiers.
some talking about everything and nothing.
Soon the red-haired sergeant stepped forward and cleared his throat
"Well, which one of you are Adrian and Andrew?" asked the sergeant, looking at the young soldiers.
"Well it looks like ..." the first voice spoke, it seemed to be from an older man.
"these are Us ..."
spoke the second voice that was identical to the first but this sounded a little younger.
Soon two young men with black skin and curly hair, identical to each other, stepped forward to the surprise of the caporal and the sergeant.
Adrian had gray eyes and Andrew had hazel eyes.
Something that some black-skinned people didn't have.
Some of these people had brown or black eyes, so Chesterfield deduced that they had inherited the color of the eyes of a relative like a Grandfather or an Uncle.
"Are these Adrian and Andrew?"
Blanket whispered to Chesterfield.
"I think so, Blutch."
Chesterfield whispered back.
Chesterfield looked up and down at the two young men.
"So, are you very similar, are you by any chance twins?"
asked Blutch and the two young black men nodded.
"Twins ... this is something rare to happen."
it was Chesterfield's turn to speak.
"But with the color of your eyes it's easy to tell who's who."
"Heh, that's true." replied Adrian.
if we both had black or brown eyes you two would be confused all the time. "said the young man with gray eyes.
"Greetings, i, m Sergeant Cornélius Chesterfield and Caporal Blutch Hardings." he said introducing himself on behalf of the two.
"The General and the Captain gave a second chance to train the two of you to do well on the battlefield." he explained, soon the redhead changed his facial expression from serene to serious.
"Are you ready for this?" asked the redhead.
"The war can last for years, and the soldiers of the 22nd cavalry are exposed to the dangers of this civil war, some survive and others do not.
"you are aware of that, aren't you?" he asked and the two nodded yes.
"Yes, Sergeant, we are aware that during a battle we may come back alive or not." Replied Andrew.
Letting out a short quick sigh, Chesterfield ordered Blutch to fetch the uniform the soldiers were wearing, something Blutch did without murmuring or questioning, as he had already done the mesko when he went to get the uniforms for the Cossacks and the Chinese.
When Blutch arrived with the two uniforms, the two young men went to a place to change and try on the clothes.
The uniforms fit the twins right as one (or two) gloves, the uniforms were the same as those of the soldiers at back the camp.
"Very well, come with us now." He said.
"Where are we going sergeant?" asked Blutch, looking back at where the two twins were talking to each other, the conversation seemed to be fine but Blutch decided not to interrupt.
"Well, we're going to have to train them, my little Blutch, and it's going to be in the very place where that failure happened." explained while he cringed a little with the memory.
"Oh please, those Cossacks were good either." said Blutch, smiling a little but just as the caporal saw the glare that Chesterfield shot at him, the mocking smile became a frown.
"For a circus, but not for being soldiers." huffed the redhead.
A few minutes walking, silence prevailed among the four until they arrived in a clearing with a vast space for training.
"Here, we're here." he said and the two twins looked at Awe at the vast space that the field had, it seemed that the green pasture seemed to have no end as well as the mountains that were there, far away.
"Your training starts now." said the redhead.
"Blutch, you know what to do." said chesterfield and utch dashed back to where they came from.
after a few hours of waiting, Blutch returned with Two Skewbalds, the sergeant was impatient with the delay of Blutch who came with two Skewbalds.
"Sorry sergeant, I took too long because these were the only horses that were there ..." the young one sheepily.
"Adrian and Andrew come here!" shouted Chesterfield and the two woke up from a long nap, then the two went to Chesterfield and Blutch were, and were surprised to see the two horses.
"First lesson of training, you will go horseback riding." explained Chesterfield with an proud smile.
"As you are in the 22nd cavalary you should know how to ride them, horses can be a little difficult to ride and be trained." explained the sergeant and then he looked with a serious expression at the two boys.
"And then." he started, "who's going first?" the red-haired sergeant asked.
"I go first!" exclaimed Adrian,
leaving Chesterfield surprised.
"Are you sure about that?" he asked trying to hide the nervousness in his voice.
"Relax, you will see Adrian in action." he said, approaching the Skewbald and saddling him, then the youngest climbed the White and Brown furred equine.
Needless to say, but he did a very good job, even the Sargent's jaw fall at seing the young man controlling a horse on the first day, as he and Blutch were training for almost three days when they arrived in the Army.
"Look, you did very well, better than the last recruiter who couldn't ride a horse."
"Really?" he asked surprised and the sergeant nodded, then he tried to make a serious face, but the joy he felt did not keep an straight face.
"thank you sergeant."
"And you, Andrew, can you ride a horse?"
Chesterfield asked looking at the hazel-eyed man.
This question took the oldest of the brothers by surprise, soon he could feel his throat close but what could he tell the redhead?
who didn't know how to ride a horse?
That you were not prepared for a test like this?
Or should he just lie?
Lying was the right option, wrong for some ... but can lying always get you out of something right?
"Suuure ..." he lied and Adrian facepalmed something that blutch realized.
Adrian felt a hand on his shoulder, he turned and saw Blutch with a worried expression on his face.
"Let me guess, he never rode a horse before."
"No, never," replied the youngest.
"although we are twins, we are very different, we were raised on our father's farm." explained the gray-eyed young man.
"he was only good at other tasks but never riding a horse." he said with a certain nervousness in his voice as he looked at the older twin.
"Aie, aie, aie..." murmured the young caporal.
"Very well ..." he said, saddling the white and black furred horse.
With a quick sigh, the young man finally got on his horse.
A new experience for him since he had never assembled one.
"Good horsey, good boy ..." he said getting on the horse but the horse that Blutch got was skittish and he took down the young man who had just ridden him.
"Damn ..." he said getting up and dusting his uniform.
"Are you okay bro?" Asked Adrian from a distance.
"Yes, but it's time to try again!" He said going to the horse and getting on it again.
"I like his persistence and determination." said the sergeant, noting that the young hazel-eyed man was getting on his horse again.
"He was always like that." he said.
"I always wanted to show Dad that he could make it happen." explained younger of the twins.
Soon they watched the struggling young man to stay on top of the steed.
Soon Sergeant Blutch and even Adrian could not contain their laughter after seeing the novice soldier try to control the horse or even fall into a puddle of mud.
"Uhhh, I-I think that- that's enough ..." Chesterfield said trying to keep from laughing again, but it was something that Blutch and Adrian tried to do but failed miserably.
approaching the young man, Chesterfield put a hand on his shoulder.
"Hey look at me." he said and the young black man looked at the redhead.
"when Blutch and I arrived here we didn't even know how to ride a horse.
Of course your brother is one step ahead of you but hey! it's never too late, is it? "he asked and the young man was silent and then nodded.
"Now let's go back to camp, okay?"
Upon returning to the camp, the four saw that there were more of them there all looking very young, some seemed to be just 23 and 26 years old and others already adults seemed to be 38 and 40 years old.
Inside a cabin made of wood, a soldier named Liam was looking out the window to see the four men arriving there.
"My Colonel." he said to the white-haired man.
"Sergeant Chesterfield and Caporal Blutch are here with the new recruits."
"Great, let's see how they do."
"Do you think they managed to train them both?" asked Liam.
"Those two idiots?" the Colonel immediately laughed out loud.
"Of course not, you will train them just to check I want you both ready tonight."
"Yes, my colonel." he said and went out to where Chesterfield and Blutch were with the new recruits.
"So ... are you the two new recruits?" he asked and they both nodded.
"Great, you have ten seconds to join the others." he said
"Join the others to where?" It was Adrian's turn to ask.
"To the front of course, now follow us you and the others are heading to train and then to Biglerville." Explained Liam.
"Biglerville well ..." the oldest one said and then his eyes wait is an three days trip! "Shouted Andrew to the annoyence of Liam.
"Well you better be ready for long trips, 22nd cavarly soldiers not only battle on the battlefield
but they also do some patrols in some cities and also in the states of the U.S.A. "he explained." C, mon you two. "
"Good luck." said Caporal Blutch.
"We are going to need it."said Andrew and he and his brother joined the other soldiers for a trip that would last not one, but three or seven days.
A few days passed after the new soldiers left the camp to be trained.
while this was happening, the same things were happening in General Alexander's camp.
The Charges the enemy troops in the battlefield, some missions like going to fort bow and even Chesterfield and Blutch getting themselves into trouble and trouble, and rare trips to Fort Bow.
"Hey Blutch stop bein, worrywart they are fine." Chesterfield said irritated with the caporal pacing.
"How are you sure about that?"
"'Cause they are back!" He said pointing to the same group of soldiers returning to the camp.
Soon the two brothers went to Sergeant and Caporal to tell how the long days of training were with Liam and the others.
"Hey, how was the training?" Blutch asked.
Well ... weapon training was easy for me, but difficult for my brother here. "He said pointing to Adrian who was scratching the back of his head.
"Why? The redhead asked." Don't tell me that- "
"I accidentally shot a grazed soldier.
only after a few attempts, you know, I never held weapons, but I finally managed to hit Bullseye. "
"With my help, of course." Andrew said giving a playful punch to the younger man's arm, and Adrian did the same.
"And I helped him ride a horse." he said with a smile and Andrew soon nodded and chuckled.
"thank you very much for trying to train us, even if that training was just a warm-up."
"Now you're welcome, now come with us.
you will meet the other soldiers who are here in the camp with us. "explained the sergeant.
"Yes, some of them are survivors of the several times of Stark's crazy charges in enemy troops."
"Blutch stop talking about Stark like that, he's a great leader!" Said the sergeant.
"And you know what I said about him is the most sincere truth." Retorted the caporal soon Blutch and Chesterfield started arguing.
and the two of the brothers just laughed at the arguing duo.

"Marijuana Trial of 5 Men Opens," Windsor Star. July 7, 1933. Page 5 & 6. ----- Mounties Tell Story of Sandwich West Raid; Seeds and Vegetable Matter Exhibits ==== The story of a raid by eight Royal Canadian Mounted Police officers on the premises of Michael Rainone in Sandwich West Township was related before Magistrate J. A. Hanrahan in the county police court Tuesday after-noon as trial got under way of five men charged with possession of marijuana.
The accused are, Michael Rainone. his son, Herman Rainone; Robert J. Bezaire, Ross W. Gray, and Julien Bolsmier. All five pleaded not guilty. Their defence counsel is Cecil R. Croll. W. E. Kelly, prosecutor for the Dominion Department of Justice, represents the Crown in the case. The trial will be resumed at 3 p.m. Thursday.
OFFICER EXHIBITS SEEDS Highlight of the opening day of the trial was the submission of evidence in the form of seeds and vegetable matter by Sergeant G. R. Johnson, R.C.MP. of Toronto, who for the past seven years has devoted his en-tire time to investigation of plants under the Narcotic Drug Act.
One exhibit was a green tin bread-box tied with a cord sealed by red sealing wax which Sgt. Johnson said he found in Rainone's house, located 140 feet south of Tecumseh road near Rankin avenue. It contained a multitude of seeds and vegetation which "gave off a terrible stench" when he opened it at the time of the raid, the Mounted Police officer testified.
Constable Cyril A. Lazelle identified a red tin can formerly used as a tobacco tin, which he said was found containing green vegetation substance on the warming closet of the cook stove in the Rainone kitchen.
"SPICES FOR SPAGHETTI" He testified that Constable William S. Ramsay remarked, "You are in the business," and that Michael Rainone replied, "That is what you think, but it is only spices for the making of spaghetti."
Rainone, a ruddy faced man with greying hair, sat stolidly in the prisoner's box with a bored look on his face during the testimony. Of the four other accused, Bezaire is the eldest although a young man, and the others are youths. These showed a lively interest in the testimony. According to witnesses all were making their home in Rainone's house, a two room shack with an upper floor reached by a ladder through a hole in the kitchen ceiling.
In cross-examining witnesses, Mr. Croll sought to emphasize the confusions and extreme disorder of the premises, pointing out that there was a little of everything on the place, Sgt. Johnson, however, maintained, that although the interior of the house was ill-kept there was not a great amount of disorder indoors.
A series of sealed packages containing what Sgt. Johnson described as seeds and green leaf substances were filed as exhibits. The material in the packages was gathered by different members of the raiding party in their search of the premises, Sgt. Johnson stated. TOBACCO AND CHAFF Sgt. Johnson identified the property of Michael Rainone, a light brown overcoat a pocket of which he said contained tobacco and green leaf chaff. When a fin was found containing ground up leaves on top of the stove, Mr. Johnson said he arrested Michael Rainone for possession of marijuana.
When he arrived at the premises, Sgt. Johnson said Michael Rainone was the only one of the accused there, but there were two women, one a girl just over 16 years, sitting on a chesterfield in the living room. The raiding party was at the place somewhat over two and a half hours, he said, and during that time all the accused except Bolsmier arrived at the house and were placed under arrest. The witness said that the first time he had seen Boismier was in the courtroom. Bezaire arrived 20 minutes after the officers had arrived. Gray about an hour later and then Herman Rainone arrived on the scene. Herman was questioned by Sergeant R. L. Woodhouse, Sgt. Johnson stated.
BOX IN LIVING ROOM The green box, from which a foul odor had issued when opened, the witness said, was found on the floor of the living room between the chesterfield and a radio.
Sgt, Johnson, under cross-examination by Mr. Croll, said that there was a great deal of filth such as rotting manure in the yard, but some semblance of home-like things in the house, such as ornaments atop the chest drawers.
In conversation with Michael Rainone, Sgt. Johnson testified that the accused told him "he collected bread and cigaret butts from restaurants." "That's a new one on me," ejaculated Mr. Croll.
OTHER WITNESSES William Taylor, a bus driver for the S. W. & A. Railway Company, who owns a home on Tecumseh road near the Rainone house, testified that he had known Rainone and his son for some time and that to the best of his knowledge Bezaire and Gray lived at the Rainone shack. He wasn't sure whether Boismier also lived there but said he had seen him frequently about the place. Mr. Taylor said that Rainone had cultivated his land last year and had started cultivation this year.
Edward E. Beals, a real estate man who said he owned 3,000 lots in Sandwich West, testified to the purchase of the property by Rainone. Thomas Green, registrar of deeds for Essex County, testified to the ownership of two lots by Michael Rainone at the scene where the raid took place, that Rainone was the registered owner and had acquired title in 1941. A. W.Spurgeon, photographer, identified numerous photographs he had taken of the house and property for the R.C.M.P.
The raid was conducted on June 12 by the R.C.M.P. officers headed by Staff Sergeant A. W. Anderson. Officers who took part in the raid, who have yet to testify in the trial, include Corporal Woodhouse, Constable Ramsay, Constable Roy S. McLeod, Constable Randall B. Hara, Constable B.Murray Lamb and Mr. Anderson.
The charges now being heard are a follow-up on the arrest and conviction of J. L. Brooks, of Victoria boulevard, Sandwich West, for the sale of marijuana. He was sentenced to three years in the Kingston penitentiary and fined $900.

I can't help but think about how the Sarge only outranks Blutch by pure random chance. In another universe, Blutch is a Sergeant and Chesterfield is a Corporal and I think that's really funny tbh I don't think anything changes, Blutch can try to pull the "I'm your superior" thing but Chesterfield still has a gun nothing changes because they'd still be fighting like they normally do and if anything they get sent on even more missions because the sergeant would be a fucking disgrace they're trying to get rid of. Also there's probably a good bit of "if I work hard I can outrank you"
