This week is our first ‘canon Jancy’ Spotlight and because today is Natalia’s birthday, we thought we’d discuss Nancy and Jonathan’s birthdays. (Please reblog - or comment on - this discussion to weigh in!)

It has never been said in the show or by the Duffers when Nancy and Jonathan’s birthdays are… so WHEN ARE THEY?

My headcanons are based on Natalia and Charlie’s assessment. They have said Nancy is a Libra and therefore, born in October. Though Libra is September 23-October 22 so it could be anywhere between these dates. Libra is represented by the scales of justice so makes sense why Natalia (and Charlie) headcanon this.

As for Jonathan, they both agree that he is a Cancer… so that means they think his birthday would be between June 21-July 22. Below is why they might think this:

Something else interesting to note: In season 1, Nancy wears an amethyst ring, which is February’s birthstone. I personally headcanon that the ring was her mother’s or grandmother’s… but could it be hers?

you’re love is my turning page: a steddie proposal fic

September 1989:

Eddie Munson was madly in love with Steve Harrington. He wanted to spend every waking moment he could with Steve and he even got to work with his boyfriend a few times a week. Eddie got his job not long after he recovered from his injuries and the charges were dropped. He even got some money from the government as hush money. He used some of that money to help get Wayne and him a new trailer. They got a huge trailer not too far from Steve’s house.

Eddie worked at Family Video with Robin and Steve. He loved it. His band started rehearsals again and Eddie dreamed of getting the band a record deal. Tattooing is also another dream he’s pursuing. He has worked hard for everything he has. But right now, he’s planning something: he’s going to propose to Steve.

It was three days before the proposal. Eddie was going to tell Robin and Nancy his plans today and so they could help him. He’d tell Dustin and Max the day before so they wouldn’t run their mouths.

“SHIT, SHIT, SHIT,’ screeched Eddie. Overslept again. Keith was not going to be happy. He ran to get his jeans, sneakers and his work vest on. Eddie finally checked the time. It was 10:45. Okay he could get there on time. He may have accidentally run a few red lights but he made it.

“Munson, I nearly had to cover for your ass again. One more time and I’m not doing it ever again.” Robin said to him, crossing her arms.

“Sorry Buckley. I was nervous about some stuff.”

“Wait, what time does Steve come in today?” Eddie asked.

“Not until 3:00. Why?” Robin raised her eyebrow.

“Okay.” Eddie cleared his throat. “I want to propose to Steve.

Robin’s eyes went wide. And then she tackled Eddie.

“EDDIE OH MY GOD OH MY GOD. DO YOU HAVE THE RING? WHERE ARE YOU GOING TO DO IT? TELL ME EVERYTHING.”

“Robs, I will tell you everything as soon as you get off me.” Eddie smiled and Robin obliged. “I have the ring but I left it at my place. I’m taking him out to Skull Rock where we had our first date and I’m decorating the outside with lights and setting up his favorite son—“

“EDDIE, YOU SAID IT WAS URGENT. WHAT’S GOING ON?” Robin and Eddie looked up to see Nancy running into the store.

“Nance, it’s nothing bad. I promise.” Eddie reassured her.

“Okay then what’s going on?”

“I was just explaining to Robin that I’m going to propose to Steve.”

Nancy’s eyes went wide and a big grin appeared on her face.

“Oh my god. Oh my god! Congratulations. Do you have his ring picked out? When are you-“

“Hold tight Wheeler.” Eddie went over and grabbed a chair for Nancy to sit in and explained his plans. He showed them a polaroid of the simple ring he got for Steve. It was a simple silver band with a thin gold band all around the ring. On the inside of the ring, there was a tiny diamond and an opal to represent their birthstones. He had the date of when they officially started dating engraved into the ring. Eddie and Steve’s initials were also engraved.

“Eddie. Oh my god he’s going to love it. I’m so happy for you guys.” Nancy stood up to give Eddie a huge hug. Robin joined in too. They were all crying together.

“Wait, Eddie. I need to do the obligatory ‘if you hurt him at all, I will kick your ass and break your guitar’ speech.”

Eddie gasped. “You wouldn’t dare hurt Sweetheart?”

“You hurt Steve Harrington at all during your marriage and your precious Sweetheart will be no more.”

“Okay, okay, okay. Point taken! I promise I will never hurt him or break his heart. I love him way too much to do that.”

“Eddie, you were so scared.” Robin teased. “Your eyes got so wide.” Robin began to laugh as she walked to get her tapes rewinded. Nancy walked with her and they laughed as they walked away. Eddie noticed they were holding hands but didn’t say anything. He won’t, yet. (Not until after the proposal.)

“Well, ladies. Looks like we have to get back to work and Steve is going to be here any minute. But Friday at 8:30, get to my place so we can celebrate. I’m also telling Dustin tomorrow so I need all hands on deck for the three days.”

Nancy had to go but she also took Eddie’s proposal plan and was going to make a detailed to-do list for everyone involved. Eddie only wanted them (Robin and Nancy), Dustin and Max to know beforehand. Everyone else who was going to the party at the Harrington house would find out later. For right now, Eddie just wanted it to be about him and Steve.

“Dustin, hey man can you meet me at my trailer? It's urgent. It’s nothing bad but I need to get here soon. Over” Eddie called into the radio. He had just gotten off of work.

“I’m on my way now, Eddie. Be there in ten. Over.” Dustin could drive now which still blew Eddie’s mind. Sometimes, he’s still that young freshman that he adopted during his last senior year.

“Eddie! I’m here.” Dustin called out.

“Henderson! Alright buddy. I need you to sit down.” Eddie motioned.

“Okay?” Dustin raised his eyebrow.

“EDDIE. What the fuck is going on? You said it was urgent.” Max came through the door. Through physical therapy and lots of medical procedures, she was slowly regaining her sight and movement.

“Alright, Red. It’s fine. Just sit down.” Eddie was nervous. Why was he nervous? It’s Dustin. Maybe Max made him kind of nervous.

“Okay. So I know you guys know that Steve and I are very serious-“

“Eddie, you make it known that you are in love with Steve whenever you get the chance.” Dustin said with a huge frown.

“It’s gross.” Max added with a cheeky grin.

Eddie took a breath and started his speech. “Okay both of you shush. I brought you two here for something very important.” Eddie stopped what he was doing and brought out the polaroid with Steve’s engagement ring.

“Red, Dustin. I know you guys are extremely close to Steve. He’s been around longer than I have. But I love him more than I can describe in any word in the English language. I want to spend the rest of my life with Steve. He doesn’t have a close relationship with his parents at all. And I wanted to do this right. So, what I am asking is. Are you okay with me proposing to Steve?”

“Eddie, wait. You want to marry Steve? OH MY GOD.” Dustin jumped up and brought Eddie into a tight embrace. “Wait. Why are you asking me for permission? You didn’t need to do that.”

“I know Steve is extremely important to you and I don’t know. I think I just wanted to do something the traditional way for once in my life. Plus, I already got the obligatory ‘if you hurt Steve Harrington when you’re married, I’ll kill you' speech from Robin.”

“Well. If you do hurt Steve during your marriage, I will 100% hunt you down and kill you in your fucking sleep.” Dustin said, this time, with a serious tone.

“I take it that you do approve, Dustin?”

“Of course, I approve, dumbass.”

“Same, idiot.” Max interjected. “You and Steve are adorable together. Wait-”

“No, no. No take backs Mayfield. It’s already been said.” Eddie laughed.

“Shut up, Munson. And if you hurt Steve at all, you know I will not hesitate to take you out with my wheelchair.” Max threatened.

“Alright, alright. I take both of those responses as a yes. Come here, nerds.” Eddie brought Max and Dustin together for big group hug.

It was the day of the proposal. Eddie was nervous, he thought was going to blow chunks everywhere. He got the whole weekend off, thankfully Robin got Friday and Saturday off too. Robin had the task of getting Steve ready for his date at his house while Nancy helped Eddie get the last minute details together.

It was finally time for Eddie to get ready. It was just a casual date night, nothing too crazy. Except only he was getting ready to ask Steve Harrington to marry. No big deal. Eddie doesn’t get nervous but this was another level of nerves.

“Eddie?” Nancy knocked on the door. “You okay?”

Eddie sighed. “I’m so fucking nervous. I know he’s going to say yes. But there’s that small part of my brain that’s telling me he won’t. I don’t know.”

Nancy pulled Eddie into a hug. “Hey. Look at me, he’s going to say yes. Steve would be a dumbass if he didn’t. You guys are perfect for each other, it’s actually insane.”

“I’m not going to lie. I thought you were going to kill me when we started dating. I know you guys had history.”

Nancy laughed. “Hey. We had long been over each other at that point. I’m not going to lie. I never, ever thought Steve would date a guy but now he’s about to marry a wonderful man. I’m so happy for you guys.” Nancy pulled him into another hug.

“You’re an amazing friend, you know that, right?” Eddie smiled with tears in his eyes.

It was time. Steve picked up Eddie at 6:30.

“Hi.” Eddie smiled and kissed him as he got into his car.

“Hi.” Steve laughed as Eddie practically climbed on top of him. “So where are you taking me, my love?”

Eddie had Steve drive all the way out to the park. Steve was confused about what was going on. But he just went with the flow. They arrived at their destination and when Steve got out of the car, he was blown away. They were greeted by Eddie’s van decked out in lights and flowers everywhere. Eddie had set the van where they could eat and chat easily

“Ed, you took us to Skull Rock?”

“Baby, we had our first date here three years ago.” Eddie said. “Well are you just going to stand there sweetheart or do you want to eat?” Eddie gave Steve that same goofy, wide grin. His hands were shaking. The proposal is happening now. Steve noticed but went on to sit in the back of the van like they usually do. When he sat down he was greeted by dinner from their favorite takeout spot, some beer, and an odd looking box.

“Eddie. You outdid yourself. What’s going on?’ Steve said, taking everything in. Suddenly, Eddie gave him the small, black and red fabric box. With a nudge from Eddie, he opened up the box to see a silver ring with a small black stone in the center.

“Eddie, what is this-”

“Steve, I’m so in love with you. And if I don’t do this now, I will actually explode. I always had a thing for you. Even when you were still that douchebag King Steve. But in the three years that I have known you, I now know you are not that person. In fact, I think I realized I was in love with you after you got pulled into the gate in Lover’s Lake. I was so scared that I was going to lose you. We had that talk in the forest and I fell even harder for you. After I recovered, I vowed to stay alive for you. We went out on our first date to the movies and saw Labyrinth and we both drooled over Bowie. You came to my band's practices when you could and you have got to be our biggest fan. You’ve been there for me when I needed you. You helped me through the nightmares. You’re my best friend. I fall in love with you more everyday. I know marriage for us isn't legal here yet. Hell, I don’t know if it ever will be. I don’t fucking care. But what I’m asking is… Steve, will you marry me?”

Eddie whispered the question with tears in his eyes.

“Fuck yes. Oh my fucking god yes,” screamed Steve.

Steve pulled Eddie into a long, passionate kiss and they held each other.

“God I fucking love you.” Eddie said in a quick breath. “Hey, look inside the ring. Wait, shit I forgot to tell you to bring your glasses. Okay so there are two small stones. A diamond for you birthstone and an opal for mine. I had our initials engraved.”

Steve saw the SARH AND EEAM. “Oh my god. Eddie, I love it. Wait, I need to get something out for you.” Steve went into his car and had a small black coffin shaped box. He got down on one knee.

“What is going on, Steve? Oh my god wait-”

“Eddie, I love you more than anything in the world. I can’t believe I get to be with you. For the rest of my life. You’re my best friend and the most important person to me. Please don’t tell Robin or Dustin I just said that.” Eddie and Steve laughed, both sniffling. “I’m grateful for every minute I get to spend with you. So I’ll cut to the chase. Eddie Munson, will you marry me?”

“Oh my fucking god yes. Yes.” Steve and Eddie giggled as Steve gave a simple simple band with several red and stones on the inside. “Steve, the ring is stunning. I love it so much, baby.”

“ Wait, I can’t believe you also planned to propose today.” Eddie raised his eyebrow.

“Did Robin and Nancy know?”

“Of course they did. It’s our three year anniversary, babe. I wanted to give you the memorable one yet.” Steve smiled.

“Me too.” Eddie said as tears fell down his face. “I love you.”

“I know.”

“Did Steve Harrington just make a Star Wars reference? Whatever.”

Eddie pounced onto Steve and they kissed. Not caring that food was basically ice cold. They finally sat up to eat and just took both of each other in. They were going to be married, not worrying about monsters, the Upside Down, demon bats nearly killing the both of them.

They finally had forever.

However with the brothers being more….reasonable —in a word— she is more open with all of them, and finds herself most attracted to Azusa. Rosey’s secret obsession with beautiful art pieces leads her to observing Azusa’s knife collection quite often with Azusa not far behind.
