Fundado em 1998, apenas 4 anos após a inauguração do Hamdeok Complex, o Gangnam Olympic Park surgiu a partir da necessidade de um complexo de treinamento que atendesse as regiões mais urbanas da Coréia do Sul, visto que nessa época o Hamdeok ainda tinha somente sua sede em Jeju-Do. Localizado em Gangnam, como seu próprio nome já sugere, este é, dentro da lista de oponentes do Hamdeok, o complexo olímpico mais abastado e luxuoso de todos, com recursos e equipamentos ilimitados. Após o surgimento do fenômeno literário Jogos Vorazes, os mais aficionados por esportes frequentemente os comparam aos Carreiristas do Distrito 1, o mais rico e mais próximo da Capital. Contudo, no que tange personalidade, os atletas do Gangnam Olympic Complex em nada se assemelham aos infames e cruéis personagens provenientes do distrito fictício: contrariando a ideia geral de que seriam esnobes e orgulhosos, os atletas desse complexo tendem a ser simpáticos e adeptos do fair play, preferindo sempre uma competição justa, para vencer por mérito próprio. São focados, determinados, competitivos e sedentos por vitória. Em questão de habilidades, os atletas do Gangnam Olympic Park são oponentes que tornam a vitória uma conquista trabalhosa. 

Seus treinadores são conhecidos por sua exigência e rispidez e seus treinos longos e intensos têm como objetivo a perfeição e nada menos que isso será visto como aceitável. É possível reparar, caso você tenha a oportunidade de ir a um dos treinos assistidos, que o foco de suas práticas está na repetição, aperfeiçoamento de movimentos e jogadas e, para os esportes em times, trabalho em equipe. Since Jiyeon is an old OC that I haven’t made much content for, here’s a bit of a recap and revision for her.

T’an Jiyeon, a Taekkyeon student from South Korea's Jeju Province, Seogwipo-si. She has a job at a casino and is the youngest, well known professional card dealer in Korea. She is also the most well known gambler in shady districts and has a reputation known as Miss Fortune. She entered the fourth tournament and crossed paths with Tana Naputi, who became her rival and in the seventh tournament, finally was able to settle the score with her. The two are now friends, though they continue to banter and fight every now and then.

Jiyeon is very involved in gaming, that she has taken a job as a casino card dealer. She strives for satisfaction in bets and gambles. Though she doesn't have to, occasionally Jiyeon cheats in her games so she wins every single time. At her job, Jiyeon even rigs the slot machines so customers can play more.

Other than betting, Jiyeon cherishes music, in this way she's regularly within the temperament to move. Her choice in martial arts clearly comes from this interest. Her taste in music spins around Pop and Dance. Jiyeon is a very dynamic young lady, she favors to be out doing something instead of remaining inside. She also appreciates drinking and partying, and would go out most evenings. Jiyeon is additionally energetic around football. Jiyeon has a fondness for horror related things, despite being deathly afraid of them.

Jiyeon has her own little gang of misfits and is referred to as 'Big Sister' after beating the former leader who became her second in command. She likes to refer to them as 'her little kids’ despite only being two or three years older than them.

Com tantos Centros de Treinamento Olímpico espalhados pelo mundo, por que o Hamdeok Complex?

Pra falar a verdade, eu já treinei em alguns outros. Como eu me mudei com os meus pais pros Estados Unidos quando eu era pequeno, eu entrei no USANA Center of Excellence assim que eu tinha idade o suficiente. Fiquei por lá por anos, nas Olímpiadas de Beijing eu ainda tava treinando pela USANA, mas já tinha vontade de vir pra Coréia, conhecer meu país. Eu entrei na Seogwipo em 2023, mas, se eu estiver falando bem a verdade, o centro de treinamento de lá é ok, esperava muito mais, e percebi rapidinho que se ficasse por lá, minhas chances de medalha em 2026 seriam basicamente nulas. Então comecei a procurar por algum outro lugar, e aqui estou.

E como você entrou? Alguém te indicou e você passou pelos testes, você se inscreveu voluntariamente para fazer os testes ou houve alguma contribuição monetária envolvida?

Duvido que tenha alguma contribuição monetária envolvida. Até porque meus pais nem sabem que eu to mudando de complexo, eles só sabem que eu decidi vir treinar aqui na Coréia, os detalhes eles tão nem ai. Eu me inscrevi voluntariamente pra fazer os testes, por mais que eu pudesse ter pedido pro meu treinador da época da USANA me indicar. Certeza que ele faria isso.

Você certamente se destaca no esporte que pratica. O que motivou a sua escolha por ele?

Eu treino desde que eu me conheço por gente. Meu pai me colocou em aula já quando eu tinha quatro anos, num centro de treinamento e aulas pra crianças lá próxima de Nova Iorque. E como eu praticava, foi meio que osmose eu gostar de consumir conteúdo de esporte de inverno, então eu lembro de assistir coisa das Olimpíadas de 2002 e ficar apaixonado. E eu até tentei outros esportes de inverno, sou apaixonado por Patinação, por exemplo, mas eu só presto pra Snowboard mesmo. ㅋㅋㅋ

Pode nos contar, brevemente, sobre sua trajetória no esporte até o momento?

Bom. Treinei no The Snow Centre desde os meus quatro anos, fiquei muito tempo fazendo aula por lá, passava a maior parte do meu dia praticando qualquer coisa que me deixassem. Quando eu tive idade, em 2015, finalmente entre na USANA Center of Excellence, e fiquei lá por pouco mais de 8 anos. Em 2018, o centro fez uma parceria com a Alpe Cimbra, na Itália, pra treinar os atletas nas montanhas que eles tinham até as Olimpíadas de 2022, e eu fui. Fiquei na Itália por quatro anos treinando, mas ainda sob a USANA. Eu voltei pros Estados Unidos depois das Olimpíadas, mas foi mais pra dar tchau pros meus pais e pros meus amigos do que pra qualquer coisa - ali eu já sabia que queria vir pra Coreia. Passei pra Seogwipo em 2023, mas deu o que? Dois meses, talvez? E eu já queria sair de lá. ㅋㅋㅋ Então eu comecei os processos de achar um complexo novo, passar por todas as etapas, viver os amistosos lá com todo mundo fazendo cara feia pra mim porque eles já sabiam que eu vinha pra cá e todo mundo aqui achava que eu era mais um de lá. A fama de serem insuportáveis é super válida, conheço de perto- enfim, sai do assunto.

Quais são suas maiores qualidades e maiores defeitos? Como elas influenciam seu dia a dia como atleta?

Eu acho que eu sou super comunicativo, na verdade, sociável, sabe? E também gosto de pensar que sou adaptável pra qualquer coisa que me aparecer. Isso sempre me permitiu uma transição mais fácil quando alguma coisa nova apareceu. Não posso falar sobre a mudança pros Estados Unidos, eu era muito novinho pra lembrar, mas as mudanças que eu fiz quando comecei a investir no Snowboard como carreira e o quão fácil eu me adaptei e fiz amigos acho que é uma nota de como meu jeito me ajudou. Agora defeitos… Acho que eu sou meio inquieto? ㅋㅋㅋ E até um pouco sem paciência. A inquietação é fácil de ver comigo querendo abandonar tudo nos Estados Unidos pra vir pra cá simplesmente porque eu queria uma mudança de cenário, e a falta de paciência fica meio óbvio quando eu digo que só durei dois meses no Seogwipo antes de me cansar com o jeito dos atletas e dos treinadores.

Sabemos que é uma grande honra ser convocado para representar seu país nos jogos olímpicos, mas existe alguma outra razão pela qual você deseje isso?

Acho que não? Sempre só… fez sentido. Eu pratico esse esporte desde que eu consigo me lembrar, eu sou bom o suficiente para quererem me convocar pros jogos olímpicos, eu gosto bastante de treinar e isso me da a oportunidade de estar em vários lugares por conta das competições. Nunca considerei outra carreira que não fosse ligada ao Snowboard, e conseguir ser um atleta de alto rendimento ao invés de ser só mais um treinador de criança é maravilhoso, no meu ponto de vista.

Hyopyo, o patriarca da família, ainda que não fizesse muita questão, internamente torcia para que um filho homem nascesse para ajudá-lo a dar continuidade nos negócios da família, mas aparentemente nasceu para ser pai de meninas. Suji possuía apenas dois anos de diferença para sua irmã mais velha que a tratava como sua boneca, brigando se as primas próximas quisessem segurar sua irmã no colo ou brincar com ela. Desde cedo, as duas eram inseparáveis, eram melhores amigas e não se largavam por nada nesse mundo. Aliás, as Bae tinham seu próprio mundinho, onde fantasiavam e viviam sua infância da melhor maneira possível.

Ou não, já que do meio para o fim da sua graduação em Psicologia foi um verdadeiro inferno. Pela pressão que sofria em ser a única da sua roda de amigas a não ter um namorado, Suji acabou aceitando as investidas de um rapaz que estudava no mesmo bloco, mas que não era de sua turma. Kim Junho era um ano mais velho e era do tipo que não prestaria atenção em Suji, ao menos era o que ela achava. O rapaz era o mais popular entre os estudantes de Direito, era filho de um juiz de renome na cidade e que atuava em outros lugares por ser muito solicitado. O começo do relacionamento entre eles foi bom, Suji não seria hipócrita de mentir a respeito: Junho parecia um príncipe saído diretamente dos contos de fada que lia com sua irmã quando era criança, era respeitador e gentil, queria agradá-la a todo custo e até mesmo causava certa inveja nas amigas que tanto insistiram para que Suji arrumasse alguém.

Com o namoro ficando mais sério - não por vontade de Suji que mal tinha boca para se impor -, mas pelo próprio Junho que cercava a garota de todas as formas, ela se viu abrindo mão de coisas que gostava de fazer em nome de um relacionamento. A chegada de duas novas equipes para integrar o corpo de atletas e treinadores de certo causa certo alvoroço e a adaptabilidade de todos – sejam aqueles que chegam ou aqueles que recebem – será colocada a teste. Ainda que algo mais informal, visando a integração dos novos atletas e treinadores à sede de Jeongdongjin-ri, Kim Beomseok não desapontou na decoração, organização e muito menos nas refeições da noite – e você fica imaginando se toda essa pompa e circunstância tem a ver com o fato de que agora um ex-treinador do Seogwipo compõe a nossa lista de treinadores, afinal, todos sabemos exatamente o quão profunda é a rivalidade entre os complexos. Sendo esta ou não a motivação para toda a elegância do evento, a decoração é de cair o queixo. 

O refeitório, destino diário de todos os ocupantes do complexo, está irreconhecível e você se pergunta como eles fizeram tudo isso tão rápido? É claro, as grandes mesas continuam por lá, mas a decoração nas cores do Hamdeok concede ao espaço um ar elegante, diferente dos detalhes corriqueiros aos quais você já se acostumou. Com seu sorriso simpático, o fundador começa a falar.
