Senku x Artists Reader Pt. 4

A/n: Enjoy this Early Fic Friday post!

Are you into me, like I’m into you?

Your thoughts threatened to leave your lips. The very same lips that were brushing against Senku’s ear. Your bodies pressed against each other. Neither you nor Senku have made a single move. You weren’t sure how long you’d had his body pressed against yours.

Seconds? Minutes? You were afraid to break the silence. You didn’t want to pull away. You wanted to burrow your face in his neck. Mask yourself with his scent. You wanted him to be closer, intertwine your limbs with him. Press your lips against him, taste him. You wanted him.

Do you wanna do the things I want to do with you?

You slowly eased your hand down from his eyes, allowing him the privilege to see you pressed against him. Staring down at you, with those very same eyes you told him not to. You allowed your hand to travel down to his chest, without much resistance, the positions were now reversed. Hovering over him, you were one move away. One move away from changing the dynamics between the two of you. Action or words…kiss or confession…Anything to tell him

I love you.

There’s a scientific and logical explanation…

Senku kept repeating those words in his head. This sensation overwhelming him can be explained through science he reasoned. The heat radiating off his body is a biological response. It’s just the body producing hormones…

With your body pressed against him, he couldn’t tell if your skin was burning against him, or if this entirely new sensation was making him flush, producing more heat than he could handle.

Was he flushed because he was fixated on the feeling of your fingers brushing against his lips? Was it the feeling of your chest pressed against his? Feeling your chest and rising for every breath you take. Hearing the faint rhythm of your heart. What would you do if he moved just slightly? Would you let your lips move against his skin and settle on his neck?

Adrenaline….

He can feel his heart beating out of his chest, he bet you could too. Especially with your hand pressing on his chest, pushing him down with ease.

Testosterone…

He tried to rationalize his body’s response to yours.

Nothing unusual…These thoughts, it’s the testosterone…

…Pheromones…dopamine…norepinephrine…

He tried reasoning his feelings with science, because in his mind, love was not an option. Or maybe an option that he wasn’t aware of existed.

Senku was intelligent in the fields that required chemistry, biology, physics, mathematics, psychology and much more, but when it came to emotional intelligence…His emotional intelligence was as good as Taiju’s understanding of chemistry. If he couldn’t figure out that being your muse meant that you loved him, how is he going to understand his emotions towards you?

“Physics or Chemistry?” you asked quietly, slowly pulling away from him. Regretting your words as soon as they left your mouth. There was no turning back.

Those were the words you chose.

Not “I love you”.

Not “I like you”.

Not, “Can I kiss you?”

“I guess we can move onto physics…” Senku responded, getting up from the floor. Senku took his seat next to you, pulling out the physics questions he had prepared.

And just like that, you were both back to doing calculations. Both ignoring the burning question haunting your minds, what just happened?

Days have passed since the incident, and although you didn’t act on your feelings or talked about what happened, the dynamics between the two of you shifted. You find yourself spending more time with Senku outside of studying together. Whenever one of your many clubs ended early, you found yourself at the school’s lab entrance.

“If you’re going to come in put some gloves on and goggles.” Senku said, not once turning around to look at who entered. He already knew it was you.

“Yeah…yeah…” you grabbed the box of gloves beside him and covered your hands. “It’s much more fun to get your hands dirty with your creation.” You were about to wander off in search of some goggles until you felt Senku’s hand on your waist, pulling you towards him.

“If you consider getting corrosive acid on your hands fun, then be my guest.” He said while looking at you, placing goggles over your face and adjusting the strap for you.

“This is why art is better.” You argued, following Senku to where his equipment was set up, standing beside him and awaiting his instructions.

“It’s opinions likes those that make you an Airhead.” Senku replied with a wicked smile. He knew exactly what buttons to push to get you to react. To get you to ramble, and to allow him to learn more about your art. Eventually he’ll figure out what it means to be your muse. He’ll just have to continue to study you and your art.

At times you seek him out and other times he seeks you out.

“What are you drawing this time?” he asks as he approaches you from behind. He looks over your shoulder to see what you have in your sketchbook. “Nothing?”

“Artist’s block,” you replied, moving slightly to make space for Senku to sit beside you. “All great artists get it eventually…”

“Are you calling yourself a great artist?” Senku teased, enjoying the annoyed face you gave him in response to his comment. He sat beside you, his shoulder brushing against yours. Sitting in silence until he spoke up again, “What about the moon?”

“Huh?” You looked up to the sky and searched for the moon. “What about the moon?”

“The moon is beautiful, isn’t it?” he asked, forgetting the weight of the words until they slipped out. He turned to look at you, your eyes fixated on the moon. Hearing his question, you felt your blood rush to your face and your mind racing with thoughts. You kept silent, wondering if he knew the meaning behind his words. “And it’s like you always said…art is beautiful, you only create things that you find beautiful…your muses are your love…”

“Senku,” you said softly, turning to finally meet his gaze, “tell me how to reach the moon.”

A/n: Did you guys get the analogy/metaphor I was trying to make at the end???? I wasn't sure if I executed it well...

Anyways....Can I get some feedback? How well do you feel like I transition scenes? I find it so difficult to do, any thoughts or tips?

Hello, I'm here to add a little more context from my time researching yokai for my Dr. Stone god au fic A Thousand Steps

Ningyo scales are stated to give immortalality when eaten. The tales say that a fisherman's daughter who ate the scale outlived everyone she loved and decided to end her own life. She chose mortality over eternal life, which is a motif in our story

I appreciate Senku's Oni design so much, as oni have been known to both hinder and help humans! In fact, in the tale of the red and blue oni, a red oni pretended to be evil and mean so the blue one could fight him off and befriend the humans. What the blue oni failed to realize was that the red oni would have to leave forever as the humans would feel betrayed and tricked if they knew it was all a ruse. It's about the sacrifices we make and the consequences we had not forseen

Nekomata, the cat with two tails, is actually a sign that the cat was well loved for in their life! If you are followed by the Nekomata it is a good omen: trust this person. They know the value of life. Perfect for Ukyo

Tengu are JERKS okay. Like mischief angels, they put on a mask and bully humans much like trickster foxes. It really highlights Hyoga's chaotic nature I think, plus the idea that a Tengu on your side is a blessing and a Tengu working against you is miserable, so nice touch

(screams in making Kinro and Ginro gold and silver wolves and guardians who protect in my fic and being 100% validated by this development)

Kamaitachi is also heavily related to death: a sickle or hoe used for digging graves became abandoned and possessed, slicing unsuspecting people but never do they bleed (vampire weasel? Sign me up) They are known to cause strange phenomenon and ride dust clouds-- so I believe it's a mix of the themes of life and death in Dr. Stone as well a nod to Chromes mastery of the land

Tsukasa being a god of death is so perfect! He saw his actions as duty, not sin. He is haunted by those he's "killed". He also has command over life (giving the locations of all crushed statues)

I'm no expert by any means but yokai and Dr. Stone are two subjects very dear to me so I hope you enjoyed it!

1) How many works do you have on AO3?

Currently 41

2) What's your total AO3 word count?

417,725

3) How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?

I’ve written for 12 different fandoms, a lot are various FE games, but then i have a decent amount for Detroit: Become Human and some for Octopath Traveler and HLVRAI.

4) What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

Staredown - a humorous DBH fic where Connor is giving Gavin trouble.

Running Towards You - a soulmate AU for Steve Rogers/Sam Wilson involving soulwords

Waiting For You - a soulmate AU for Yusei Fudu/Jaden Yuki involving timers and time travel

Take it or Leave it - a Hank Anderson & Connor fic involving a/b/o (but no smut)

A Simple Reflection of You - a platonic soulmate AU for Hank Anderson & Connor where you see your soulmate if you’re both looking in the mirror at the same time

(Yes, I really love writing soulmate AUs, and for funsies I try to make all their titles end in ‘you’)

5) Do you respond to comments, why or why not?

I flip back and forth on this. It seems polite so I’ll try and do it, but at the same time I get a bit nervous about it and wonder if anyone even wants to get a response?

6) What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?

I don’t write a lot of angsty fic, but probably either Waiting for You, or Stuck on You. Though they’re almost more bittersweet than angsty? Actually, I suppose Until Separation Ends might be a bit angsty at the end.

7) What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?

I’m gonna go with 2+1=3 just for cutesy Taiju/Senku/Yuzuriha getting together shenanigans.

8) Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you've written?

I don’t, mostly because the ones I think of tend not to have anything solid enough for me to write about it. Right now I’ve been thinking about a Star Wars/Red vs Blue crossover where the reds and blues are actually all clone troopers. It’d probably take place during the prequels, with the usual red and blue shenaniganery happening in the background of major events.

9) Have you ever received hate on a fic?

I have not thankfully. At most I’ve gotten a comment or two where someone seemed displeased with my story choices, but I wouldn’t go so far as to call it hate? I’m way too unknown to get hate I think.

10) Do you write smut? If so what kind?

Noooope. I’m way too embarrassed to write any kind of smut, and honestly am not really sure how to go about writing it in a way that’s engaging? Though I do have a smut-ish idea that is haunting me enough that I may take a stab at it.

11) Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Doubtful, but I wouldn’t know.

12) Have you ever had a fic translated?

Nope.

13) Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Yep, me and my bestie yamarik wrote the Yakuza 13 series together. It’s a modern AU where Sora and Vanitas are twins who get adopted by Organization 13, who are gangsters. (also, if you like the K anime, and especially Fushimi/Yata, check yamarik’s works out!)

14) What's your all time favourite ship?

My favorite ship flows and changes as I shift fandoms, so it never stays the same. Currently I’ve been focused on Cyrus/Therion (Octopath Traveler), but May/Steven (Pokemon) and Link/Zelda are sorta longstanding ones.

15) What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?

basically all of them? jk jk. Umm, probably my Sylvain&Miklan relationship study fic. It’s about the time Miklan abandons Sylvain on a mountain in the middle of winter. I wanted to explore the idea of Sylvain always looking up to Miklan, almost like a hero, even if he could be a jerk sometimes. And this moment, when he manages to get back home and sees everyone freaking out and Miklan angry that he made it back, is when Sylvain realizes that Miklan truly hates him. (I also wanted to like, drop bits in there where it shows Miklan does, in a way, care for Sylvain, but it’s overwhelmed by his hatred). But alas, i cannot seem to get myself to write the last few pages.

16) What are your writing strengths?

I would say having straightforward and easy to understand writing. Also I’m great at coming up with fun plots and ideas, but IDK how much that relates to writing specifically?

17) What are your writing weaknesses?

Dialogue, I feel like I have trouble keeping dialogue in character and that it tends to be too straightfoward in driving the plot. And when it is more casual, it just feels clunky.

18) What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

As long as there’s a translation at the end of the chapter it’s used in I’m fine. Unless there is vital information in there that a reader can’t pick up from the context around it.

19) What was the first fandom you wrote for?

Dengeki Daisy, an old-ish shoujo manga. Fun fact: This fic was also the first one for the fandom on ffnet.

20) What's your favourite fic you've written?

we found love in a garbage place A HLVRAI Coomer/Bubby fic.This fic I really focused on trying to portray Coomer the way I wanted to, and it worked out really well. (Also honorable mention to my OT fic Divine Enlightenment, because that came together delightfully.)
