#Senior cats

I don’t post my pets here nearly enough but I figured pompom needed more appreciation. he’s a ragdoll mix and like 10 and a half years old with the soul of a retired sailor

Serious Question

My brother's cat (14 years old- the cat, not him) is not eating and we don't know why.

He said they went to the vet, and the vet recommended senior cat food, but she won't eat more than a few bites.

Wet food and dry food are both being refused, and while she IS interested in his dog's wet food, stealing the dog food is also making her throw up.

She's still snuggly and purrs when pet- still makes biscuits and drools when you rub her chin, runs from the dog and growls when he gets silly- but she's become frighteningly thin.

Does anyone with senior cat experience have any ideas for helping her gain weight?

She used to be an absolute brick of a cat- just a solid unit, caught pests like nobody's business- so it's really hard to see her this tiny

Any advice at all is appreciated. Thanks

Ms. Cherry 🍒, My Ten-Year-Old Blind & Toothless Cat

Ms. Cherry is a ten-year-old blind & toothless cat with an autoimmune disease called Lymphocytic-plasmacytic cholangiohepatitis. This autoimmune condition primarily affects her liver & bile ducts. She is on a liver supplement & steroid to help manage her symptoms.

She is a spunky gal who adores being outside & feasting as often as she can; she is a fiend for a good chewy snack!

Besides her lack of vision, teeth, & normally functioning liver & bile ducts, she is as happy as can be!

She is my study buddy, too. She adores a quaint & cozy spot in my lap during my study sessions.

I highly encourage those, who can afford to both emotionally and financially, to adopt a medically complex senior cat to help give them loving homes! 🏠 🤎

I visited a cat cafe yesterday and it was the most wonderful experience ever, cats on the floor, cats on the walls, cats everywhere.

They have four new foster kittens in and two of them, the little black ones are very precocious and playful and I spent most of the time watching two little black balls of fuzz zoom around after the worm toy I was moving about while the older cats sat up high away from the chaos looking on in disdain 😂
