Tbh I'm less excited about this voting compared to previous years. I'm still bitter and sad that they've decided to not include the Best BLCD Seiyuu category this year. I don't know their reasons and I'm very depressed about this. I've been voting on BL Award for years. My fav categories were always Best BLCD Seiyuu and BLCD.

I think including a Best BLCD Seiyuu category was a great way of giving more exposure and gaining new fans for the seiyuu. Why throwing this all away now? I really don't get it.

I've always loved comparing the ranking of my fav seiyuu through the years. Now I can no longer do it. ;__;

AGH. I'm depressed.

Anyway, I just voted. I didn't vote on all categories because I'm not familiar with many of those works. I haven't read many of those manga or listened to the BLCDs. So I only voted on a few categories on stuff I AM familiar with.

someone on twt straight up just called nayuta mid and that activated my fight or flight instintct like wtf they were saying something about how tosshi is like a unmemorable seiyuu or something and then said nayuta was mid?? what really pisses me off of how they are calling toshiyuki toyonaga an "unmemorable seiyuu" when he's absolutely amazing and talented the absolute disrespect of also calling his other roles in voice acting mid

Meet the Seiyuu: Enma Yuuken

The Twisted Wonderland anime's Enma Yuuken is to be voiced by Azakami Youhei, who has been active in the voice acting industry since 2011.

In 2024 he won "Best Supporting Actor Award" at the 18th Voice Acting Awards for his role as Guel Jeturk in Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury.

A Collection of Code Geass Season 1 Informations from Various Sources and Interviews // Canon

I've reunited in there all of the various information I couldn't fit into full fleshed out post and only kept the one with sources (that mostly came for Celiss Galvea Geass legacy), that were mentionned in various corner of the web, so there might be some missing as I don't want to share rumors/unconfirmed material. You'll be able to find the same similar Collection for R2 right there.

The title “Code Geass” was a fairly last-minute decision (the tentative title was “Lelouch of the Rebellion”) The production team were in a panic over the lack of a proper title; “We need a title to design the title logo!” etc. (ura de net geass!)

An 8 hour meeting was held to determine C.C.’s name and real identity. Supposedly none of the participants ate or drank throughout the whole thing (Okouchi: “Give me something to eat!”) According to Yoshino, whenever he thought the meeting was about to come to an end, someone would start up again and the meeting would continue with no end in sight. The hero wasn't meant to be an anti hero like Lelouch, but an ace pilot, just like in most anime from SUNRISE (Taniguchi/Okouchi Interview)

At first Lelouch had white hair, Shirley had blue hair and the Ashford uniform was red, that's why some old school scans show the characters with those colors.

Kallen's first name was Akira, then Kallen (Mutuality Artbook)

C.C. had a name during the creation phase, it was Sera, but nothing says it stayed the same, in Stage 11, Jun Fukuyama, Lelouch's voice actor actually spoke her real name but they decided to cut his voice during the montage. (Mutuality Artbook + DVD commentary) Yukana's voice work profile also used to say the name of her character in Geass was "Sera/Cera."

There was a classement of the boobies size of the girls of the anime which went out in a magazine and you'd be glad to learn that Milly has the biggest boobs of them all ; Lelouch's mother is a close second and Kallen takes the third spot. (Newtype)

Lelouch's line in Stage 14 when he erases Shirley's memories "if there is another life…" was supposed to end up like that "…let us be lovers" but it was eventually cut out. (Shirley gave the full line in the best phrase award session stage 14 to 25 of the first DVD of season 1)

When asked about a possible romance between Lelouch and C.C.,(During S1) Taniguchi said that for that to happen, Lelouch would need to see C.C. as a human being, for he was currently seeing her as some kind of alien (That's why he was about to take a blood sample in Stage 11) (Newtype interview)

About romance, Taniguchi said there would be romantic devellopment for Lelouch in season 2 and that it was left out of season 1 to focus more on Lelouch's goals (destroy Britannia, happy world for Nunnally) and him setting up his rebellion to avoid complicating matters (pash ! interview )

Kallen's story was moved to R2 when it was announced they'd be getting a season 2, that's why she became less present within the second half of season 1 (Fake Okouchi interview)

Suzaku isn't a virgin and is said to be experienced, but we don't know who the lucky girl was ; We know his first love was an older woman, that's probably why he had some form of relationship with Cecile, even if she'll be more of a big sister than a lady mama for him eventually. (Commentary DVD of Turn 19)

Zero was meant to kiss Kallen at the end of the first season to give her courage and determination after being shaken up; she was meant to remember the scene during a fight, but the kiss was removed because Season 2 was coming and a lot of arrangments had to be made around Stage 20 (Megami Magazine /Fake Okouchi)

Kallen doesnt know how to cook, if she tries to make bread, it will turn into ashes; (Kallen's character information given to her seiyuu, Ami Koshimizu)

Jeremiah was meant to die at the beginning of season 1 but he had so much popularity within the staff (and in 2ch) that they chose to bring him back to life. Twice. (Taniguchi interview)

Zero was one of the first character to be created, Okouchi wanted a masked man because a Sunrise anime without a masked man didn't seemed right (Taniguchi x Okhawa Interview)

In case the sequel wasn’t greenlighted (they already received the OK for it back in December 2007 at least), they had an alternative route prepared for the story to take, one which would have ended the story in episode 23. It would have been a non-conclusive ending though; according to Taniguchi it was more of a “psychological” ending for Lelouch like the Evangelion Ending (Taniguchi Interview)

Kawaguchi said Lelouch had Euphemia phone number on his phone because they certainly exchanged their numbers when they met on the deserted Island. (Ura de net Geass)

Mao’s repetitive clapping didn’t exist in the scripting stages; Taniguchi was the one who later added it to make him “more annoying”. (Ura de Net Geass)

Originally, Toudou was supposed to join Lelouch’s side much earlier. They talked about the Diethard and Toudou shot in the ED. All were baffled by it; Conclusion: “Only Taniguchi knows.” (Ura de Net Geass)

Stage 19 was written by Yoshino ; supposedly he requested to do it, saying “Oh well, if (Okouchi) wants me to write a script, I might as well do the island arc.” (he’s more or less the fanservice supervisor for this show) According to him (and the Newtype Taniguchi + Fu-kuyama interview), this was how Lelouch’s trap was supposed to work: Lelouch successfully digs a proper hole –> However, a boar appears behind him –> Lelouch tries to Geass it: “Lelouch Vi Britannia orders you to SIT!” –> Geass doesn’t work on animals –> Lulu Quality Tragedy ; However, Taniguchi changed it all, telling Yoshino: “Well, in the first place, Lelouch isn’t capable of digging such a hole…” (Ura de net Geass)

The reason why the writers made Kallen stand on Gawain’s shoulder instead of getting into the two-seater cockpit with Lelouch in Stage 19: “There’s no way Kallen will hand over the 2nd-pilot position to anyone else once she’s in there.” Good point. (Ura de Net Geass)

According to Tanaka, right after the airing of Stage 22, three of his friends rang him up asking “What the hell was that? I need to know what happens next!” etc...; According to Kawaguchi, “some of the viewers may have been satisfied with the handshake in episode 22, but actually, a lot more people would have been upset…” (Ura de net Geass)

After episode 23, the production team received letters from fans saying “Okouchi is so evil”, “Dark Okouchi” etc, and he didn't liked that (Ura de Net Geass)

Discarded Season 1 plotlines :

Kallen's father was first hinted as being someone important by Okouchi, when he claimed his occupation couldn't be revealed back in March 2007 (Okouchi 28 questions interview from Animage)

Suzaku was meant to have an unrequited love, and it was hinted as being an important subplot back in the day ; The hints strongly pointed at Nunnally. (Fake Okouchi)

Suzaku was meant to be linked to Geass, that's why he reacted to C.C. and to the ruins in Kamine Island, in relation to his superhuman abilities; He didn't had a Geass though (perfect Stage Mook Interview)

Cecile's seiyuu said her character had a "painful sibling relationship" in the past, and she was allowed to reveal that because it wasn't going to appear anymore within the show. Cecile's relationship to Suzaku was basically discarded) A scene with Suzaku was also seemingly cut out from Stage 20 (Magazine preview back in S1.) * What happened to Naoto (Kallen's brother) ; The writers considered bringing him back but then couldn't find a place and decided to let him stay dead (Audio commentary Stage 4 + perfect Stage mook interview)

That's about it for the various miscellanous information I could find for the first season; Now that I have gotten several of those magazines, expect more full blown articles from those whenever I'll have more time.

In today’s SPYxFAMILY Jump Festa 2024 stage, there was a special segment where Tanezaki-san (Anya’s JP VA) visited Endo-sensei’s office!

Endo-sensei has Yor figures on display in his office!

Aww, it’s very sweet that Endo-sensei kept the Forger family seiyuus’ signatures/drawings from the SxF exhibition! He also displayed Hayamin’s album (that she personally gave him). I like that they seem to have close relationships with each other!

Lots of cool things to see including: the mini model chairs that Endo-sensei painted white himself as references for the manga covers, a look at his awards for SxF, a short interview with Tanezaki-san and Endo-sensei and some insights into his drawing process!

Another awesome episode from A-1, sucks they skipped the switching perspective fight but ima let them cook because they’ve been right so far. We’re almost at the end now 😢 the big confrontation between 9s and A2 finally here. Next week is going to be amazing. Lot of stuff I really loved in this episode too.

First of all, it’s supposed to be a serious moment but A2 cutting off Devola head without a moment of hesitation is killing me 😭 But yes, Devola and Popola you were useful and you never had anything to make up for. You did nothing wrong. Project Gestalt was doomed from the start.

9s seiyuu gotta get an award man that was an amazing performance during the fake 2B fight and the way he conveys his pain is second to none. The nerve of the AI to try and trick 9s like he don’t know every single detail about 2B and her fighting style lol

A2 having to ask pod for help and thank him because she didn’t know how to hack was so cute. Love my tsun tsun queen. So she finally knows the truth about humanity being extinct. All you can do is laugh really just like she did, you live your whole life fighting this war and following orders just to learn it was all fake.

It’s funny how in the end androids and machines alike want to become just like humans.. can’t wait for the finale

I'm not sure what's gonna end first: the series or my fucking life.

As much as I love Saezuru, it's gone on for so long that it's starting to get old literally and figuratively. You know, I wouldn't even be mad if Yoneda Kou ended the series by killing Yashiro off in 6. 7 is still well-written to a point and the BLCD did deserve to rank second AGAIN in chil-chil 2022, but I'm not sure about the future of this series (it wasn't nominated in 2023 tho which is one of the few good things about 2023's).

I say a lot of things, but I'm still invested in vol. 7 & 8.

I don't know who I'm jealous of, BUT THAT SHOULD BE ME! This scene is in vol 8, not 7, but I wanted to include it anyway.

I do agree that Saezuru portrayal of the whole yakuza deal is the realest 'cause happy endings over there are quite rare, but this isn't a novel that comes out in one go. Doesn't help that June is ass. I've heard from several friends who've read the latest releases that it feels like it's lost its way and that just makes me sad. I'm still hopeful tho.🤧

As I've already stated, this placed second in 2022's awards. I mean, it's Saezuru. Frontier doesn't spare a penny for it lmao. All the major characters are voiced, and they managed to bring the A-listers back again. Sometimes, I forget that Saezuru is actually based on a manga whenever I listen to the BLCDs 'cause the production is just that good.

Shingaki slayed as usual. I've said this many times before, but no matter how bad or how well he does in another role, he will always be Yashiro. I just came from Tsunaida and we're in the middle of a Rei event in Nu:carnival, so I would expect myself to adjust to Yashiro, but I didn't need any of that lmao. Yashiro is truly Shingaki's magnum opus. I'm not at all surprised that he placed 3rd best seiyuu for Yashiro. Deserved.

Speaking of Nu:carnival, I will forever be obsessed with Yashiro's relationship with the other characters aside from Doumeki. Nanahara's voiced by my one true love, Okitsu, but like Yashiro, I love him for his character and not his voice. It is nice having the other veterans in here with him, too. The slut trio is complete with Daddy Complex SatoTaku, Boss Ass Chaser Okitsu, and Damel in Distress Shingaki. #BLESS I want Kamiya to end up with Nanahara.

I haven't heard Wacchan in years HAHAHAHAHA. His Doumeki is still amazing as always. My issues with the story aside, I'm really looking forward to his "break" in vol. 8. EEEEEEE

Special mention to my Ryuuzaki and Miyake Kenta who made their comebacks here too. I missed him so much! LMAO

The BLCD is pretty accurate to the... magazine at least, but June does sell the translated tanko (fortunately). Like the previous installments, reading the manga while listening to the BLCD was so smooth because it was so accurate. Now 7 does end in a cliffhanger, so I don't really advise listening to it if you still don't have 8. But if cliffhangers aren't an issue for you, then break a leg!

The results for chil-chil’s BL Award 2024 are out!

I didn't vote for all the categories, so I'm only gonna talk about the ones I did vote for. Let's see:

Comics: I voted for His Little Amber. It got 2nd! I'm still waiting for the cast reveal for the BLCD! It's been 2 months since they announced a BLCD, but the cast has not been revealed yet. I'm anxious to know!!

Series: I voted for Fake Fact Lips Break because I adore them. It got 10th. The 1st place was Given, which I'm not mad about <3

Emotional: I voted for Kono te wo Hanasanaide 2 and it got 1st!! I'm happy. I love them!

Fetish: I voted for Minami-kun Wants to be Teased by that Voice, because obviously I have a voice fetish! I believe every seiyuu fan can relate to that. This BLCD was SO erotic *__*. It got 7th. The 1st place was Sex Drop 2 which I actually haven't listened to yet ^^;; I need to.

Next Generation: I voted for Kitayama kun & Minamiya kun because they're cute. Waiting to listen to the BLCD. It got 4th.

BLCD: I voted for Futari Asobi because Chiaki was so so SO freaking cute there. SO CUTE. Sadly it's not in the Top 10. The 1st place was Takara no Biidoro, which I'm also happy about. Ryouta and Yukke were really great there.

Seiyuu: I obviously voted for my beloved Chiaki. I also voted for Ryouta as my 2nd option. Chiaki got 6th which is pretty impressive. Ryouta wasn't in the Top 10. The 1st place was Soma.

And honestly (and I have to be honest here) I'm kinda over him getting 1st place almost every year. he's won a couple of years in a row: 2024, 2023, 2022, 2021 (2nd) and 2020. It reached the point where I can no longer listen to his BLCDs. I really think he's too overrated. Sorry Soma. I used to enjoy his roles, but lately I feel that he sounds the same in every role. I'm over it. :/

Impressive that Makonyan got 9th when he's only done 2 new BLCDs this year (the rest were sequels). He's powerful alright! Well deserved. Hopefully he'll do many new ones in the future. I also love that Yukke got 7th, so the two Kobayashi are very close to each other ^^

I wrote comments about most of my votes, and surprisingly my comment about Chiaki was published!! ^___^ They never published my comments before so I was happy. (I'm really glad this specific comment was chosen because the Seiyuu category is the most important one for me. The second is BLCD.)

so at this year's Seiyuu Awards, kiuchi-san was one of the winners for best supporting actor (and basically wore a mizuki closet cosplay to the event >_>)

and seki-san was one of the winners for best leading actor (from 3:40 in the video below)

and seki-san said in his acceptance speech that genazo can also be seen as a movie where he and kiuchi-san play double lead roles

so he personally considers his award as something presented to both him and kiuchi-san

Honey Lemon Soda Episode 1 Review - Soaked In Lemon Soda

A lot of shoujo fans have been hyping the anime adaptation of Honey Lemon Soda. It’s actually quite a best-seller in recent times as it sold 12 million copies and even had a live-action movie adaptation a few years ago. However, shoujo manga fans have one fear when it comes to anime adaptations: the animation. It’s actually Russian roulette for shoujo fans when a popular shoujo manga gets an anime adaptation as the anime quality can be really good or really bad, depending on the studio. Last year, I watched A Sign of Affection where the animation was pretty despite it not being from a well-known studio and then there’s A Condition Called Love with its very subpar animation created from East Fish Studio. The fact that Honey Lemon Soda got an anime adaptation by JC Staff, a rather well-known animation studio, does make fans happy as it means that it would be getting good animation quality and for someone who likes art, I think it’s visually appealing!

Honey Lemon Soda is a story about first-year high school student Uka Ishimori who was bullied back in middle school for being stone-faced and having slow reactions to everything; she was nicknamed “Stone” because of that. The bullying has caused her to become very withdrawn and timid. While contemplating on the high school of her choice, she stumbles upon Kai Miura on the streets who suggests she go to Hachimitsu High School because he’d also be going there. Moved by the first instance of kindness from someone in her life, she makes the decision to forego her first choice school and go to Hachimitsu in hopes of overcoming her past and change for the better.

Yes, it does have the typical shoujo story cliches with a very introverted protagonist meeting a knight in shining armor who is her total opposite and becomes enamored with him. However, it is a very human story too with Uka very low self-esteem due to her parents’ overprotectiveness and the results of being bullied. Sometimes, these things can be very vital in a child’s development. If parents are overprotective, it gives a child a sense that they can’t do anything by themselves and grow to becoming overly dependent on them even as an adult even to the point that they can’t even make their own decisions without their parents’ permission. Bullying can also affect a child’s psyche in that it makes them feel very depressed and anxious. I actually can relate to Uka in the sense that I grew up with a very overprotective mom (though I can still make my own decisions as an adult) and that I have been bullied not in school but at church. I can totally get why Uka acts the way she does because of that—she believes she has no sense of self, but meeting Kai helps her believe that she does.

Regarding her love interest Kai, he’s actually not a red flag at all. I like that he doesn’t coddle Uka at all and is very blunt with her. He’s straightforward and speaks his mind, things Uka lacks, but they’re handled positively. Because he’s straightforward, he’s not hesitant on calling Uka’s passiveness out. He’s a good guy because he wants her to speak up and express herself. It makes me wonder if he had experienced similar things in the past or if he feels empathy for her in a way. I am curious to know more about him.

The other characters got me curious too. Ayumi feels like the girl who’d become her closest friend. I do wonder what Takamine and Seto’s roles will be in the story. I just hope there won't be a love triangle—the last thing I need in a romance anime is a love triangle. The bullies feel textbook—they better not get redemption arcs and just be NPCs.

The voice cast for the main characters are all ones that are decently popular. Kana Ichinose is definitely a rising star as she won Best Actress Award in the 18th Seiyuu Awards and she was in popular shows like Gundam and Frieren. I like her voice, though. Shougo Yano, on the other hand, is actually going against typecast for his role as Kai. Like when I saw his name on the cast list, I was actually surprised. He’s usually typecasted as soft and cute characters like Mafuyu from Given or cheeky cuties like Reo from Paradox Live—in a sense, he usually voices cuties, so for him to voice an ikemen using a more masculine tone compared to his more known high tone feels a little jarring, but I’m all for voice actors showing off different voices! For the other three, I’m the least familiar with Miyari Nemoto. I’ve heard Taku Yashiro and Shunichi Toki in many different animes, so I’m familiar with those two—it’s nice to hear Reo and Hokusai be in another anime together—I like their dynamic in Pararai. Okay, to be honest, out of the voice cast, the most well-known are actually Uka’s parents who are voiced by Ai Kayano and Kazuyuki Okitsu.

The animation and music are good. I think it’s been a while since I last saw a shoujo anime where the heroine’s eyes are humongous, but I like how they’re colored. Her eyes are yellow like Kai’s hair to showcase the theme color, which is lemon yellow. I really like how the opening and ending are animated though. The opening is beautiful while the ending has a lot of characters and movement that it feels like a school environment.

I do think this could be a good shoujo romance story as the first episode doesn’t tell you everything at once—the beauty of these types of shows is learning more about the characters the more you read/watch. If I am allowed to say one more thing before I end things here, it’s that I really like Uka’s room—all those plants make it very cozy and gives the room personality! The results of Anime Corner’s Spring Awards are coming out, and Date A Live is Sweeping. The V/A’s two of the key characters this season won best Male and Best Female Seiyuu (Nobunaga Shizamaki and Aya Endo) Won Best Opening (Paradoxes) and Best Ending (Hitohira). Got first for best Male Character/ Best Boy, and two positions for Best Female Character/ Best Girl (7th and 1st). Lastly, Date A Live V has first and second place for the season’s ships.
