every time I see a photo of the victors together I'm just filled with devastation
because dude.... we'll never know what these guys were put through
they had whole LIVES in this system--and most of them died without seeing freedom
what these guys survived just makes me sad

district 11 is so fascinating to me. They seem to have an intrinsic sense of “this isn’t right and someone will pay.” instead of d12’s “this isnt right but what can you do?”

Hunger Games Headcanon:
Somewhere out there, there's a picture of a young Haymitch, Lyme, Seeder, Chaff, and maybe even Wiress if Haymitch managed to drag her and convince her lmao (I bet he did at least once). Drunk and on so many things, taking early 2000s drunk girl photos in a bathroom at a random Capitol club.
Makeup? Ruined and smeared eyeliner and eyeshadow, Clothes, wrinkled, Gorgeous 💯. Life of the party.
(The next picture in that camera is Wiress and Haymitch being dragged off by Mags from a random Poker game who looks done).

Katniss at the beginning of training in Catching Fire: "I don't trust any of them [the other victors], I can't stand most of them, and I'd rather operate with just the two of us.”
Katniss a few pages later: And the more I come to know these people, the worse it is. Because, on the whole, I don't hate them. And some I like. And a lot of them are so damaged that my natural instinct would be to protect them.
I would watch a whole comedy movie about the hijinks the Victors got up to during their three days of training.

The Hunger Games Appreciation Week 2024
➸ Day 6: Favourite District — 11
Well, I’ve learned one thing today. This place is not a larger version of District 12. Our fence is unguarded and rarely charged. Our Peacekeepers unwelcome but less brutal. Our hardships evoke more fatigue than fury. Here in 11, they suffer more acutely and feel more desperation. President Snow is right. A spark could be enough to set them ablaze.

You know what would be funny?
If the alliances in the 3QQ were switched up, like Haymitch gives his token to Jo instead of Finnick so now it’s 7-12 and 3-4 alliances. Or better yet if everyone somehow gets mixed up so now we have Wiress Blight Peeta and Finnick and Beetee Katniss Jo and Mags 😭😭😭 the chaos of the second group is gonna be wild and they would all be miserable without their district partners and Katniss and Jo would have to do overtime since Bee would get stabbed and Mags needs to be carried/walks slowly, not to mention that Jo and Katniss would be seconds away from fighting
Meanwhile Finnick Peeta Wiress and Blight are just chilling as they figure it out, Finnick is doing overtime by reviving everyone but hey Blight is still kicking!
We could of course switch people like Finnick goes to team 2 and Mags to 1 but the possibilities are endless
ESPECIALLY if we add 11, 6 and 8 to the roster (imagine an AU where the bloodbath had less casualties) I’d love to see Seeder Woof and Cece in other teams like Cece Wire Bee Blight and Chaff
Or Seeder Katniss Finnick Alina(the female morphing)
Or Peeta Jo Mags Woof and Xander(the male morphing)
God I could think about the rebel alliance for ages they are so precious to me

Honestly, I love (and hate) that Lou Lou’s background was unknown, it just makes Sotr so horrifying that Lou Lou was just seen as a ‘replacement’ for Louella by the Capital and we never found out who she was or if she had a family.
However, personally, I theorise that Lou Lou is Seeder’s daughter.
A woman described as looking ‘Seam like’ by Katniss, who was described as ‘motherly’ but was not shown to have any family to speak of.
Seeder was probably reaped in the 75th games for a reason, she most likely did rebellious acts that could have caused her daughter to be taken away. Also the way Lou Lou screamed the capital were ‘Murderers’ I wonder if Seeder had any other family, maybe a husband or more kids that were killed, who’s death that Lou Lou may have witnessed.
And the dates line up If she was around 60 in the 75th games, she would be in her mid thirties in the 50th, she could have had a 13 year old child.
I just wonder if Seeder knew, if she knew that her l daughter would be forced in the games like she was, only under a different district and name, or (what I think) is that she didn’t know. Snow simply needed a replacement to go into the games and the capital had one, her being a victors daughter is just the cherry on top.
Seeder may have died not knowing that her daughter had died in the same games that ruined her life, since Haymitch never knew her real name.

SOTR theory - Lou Lou
Spoilers under the cut
Is Lou Lou a relative of Seeder?
We know she's from District 11 from the way she recognised the bread and knew the harvest song, but District 11 seems an odd place to pick a fake Seam kid from. Snow is very intentional with his punishments and cruelty. Taking a random child from their home district all the way to the Capitol to be cosmetically altered, abused, and sent into the Games seems out of character, and even if Lou Lou was a troublemaker back in 11, the Peacekeepers would not be so excessive in punishing her. We know from what Rue tells us in the first book about Martin that the Peacekeepers are pretty no-nonsense. If Lou Lou was causing trouble at home, she'd be dead on the spot. Fake Louella would've had to have been on Snow's radar for him to personally oversee her 'punishment', and she was so young that it's unrealistic to think that she was ever a threat to the Capitol or Snow herself. It's much more likely that the way Lou Lou was treated was a punishment to someone else, rather than Lou Lou herself.
Another thing is that although turning Lou Lou from a District 11 girl into Fake Louella would definitely be possible with the excessive and high-quality cosmetics available in the Capitol, surely it would take a bit of time. The circumstances for Louella's death weren't planned for, so Fake Louella couldn't have existed as Fake Louella until after the parade. Most people from 11 are described as having dark brown skin and dark eyes, and would be considered Black in today's society. But Louella was from the Seam, where the people are described as having olive skin, grey eyes, and (usually) straight black hair. Making the average girl from 11 look like someone from the Seam would involve changing the colour of their skin and eyes, and likely other features like hair texture and nose shape. Those are very big changes to make flawlessly within a few days, even with the surgeries and cosmetics on hand in the Capitol.
Unless the girl already looked like she was from the Seam.
In Catching Fire, Katniss describes Seeder as looking "almost like she could be from the Seam, with her olive skin and straight black hair streaked with silver. Only her golden brown eyes mark her as from another district." We know that Snow targets the children and family members of victors, which would make more sense than Snow picking a random child from 11 to mimic a child from 12. Katniss says Seeder must be around sixty in Catching Fire, which makes her mid to late thirties in SOTR; a reasonable age to have a child of Lou Lou's age. Yes, the children of victors should be a lot better fed than Lou Lou is, but Snow could easily have had Fake Louella in his clutches for a long time before he finally found something to do with her.
Also when Haymitch is on his Victory Tour, he tries looking for anyone that could be Lou Lou's kin in the crowd in 11 and finds no one. He wasn't looking at the victors that were probably right behind him. ("In District 11, I stand on the steps of their Justice Building facing the grief-stricken families of Hull, Tile, Chicory, and the other girl, Blossom. I search the wider sea of faces for Lou Lou’s kin and come up empty.")
Maybe I'm just reaching, but to me it makes more sense that the real identity of Fake Louella is of significant connection to a victor, and Seeder is the perfect candidate in this situation. If Fake Louella wasn't a relative of a victor, Snow would never have spared her a thought.

🔥?
Okay, so I'm not sure if this is an unpopular opinion, but to me, many of the characters within the narrative of THG are disabled/ have experienced disability in some way! Sorry for how long this post this about to be!
I'll explain further just so others can understand my thought process:
Katniss- Goes deaf in the first book, and whilst that is cured in the 2nd, throughout the rest of the trilogy has PTSD/ trauma, which is a disability/ becomes disabling.
EDIT: Katniss is indigenous (Gale and Haymitch are also part of the seam!) How disability and race intersect is important, too!
Peeta- Loses his leg and has to use a prosthetic, a visible disability, on top of the hijacking and how that affects his mental health.
Johanna- Also has PTSD and severe Hydrophobia due to being electrocuted by the Capitol- to the point where she can't go out into the rain and is used against her when applying to D 13's army. (Not sure if that's 100% correct, but Johanna stans, feel free to correct me!)
Beetee- Again, most likely has PTSD, but also in book 3, due to the lightning ( I think), he is in a wheelchair.
Enobaria- Again, PTSD; I also want to include how her teeth were fashioned into fangs ( Idr if it happened in the book!) But I'm unsure how that would affect her emotionally, physically, medically, etc., so I can't get deeper into that. I've put it down anyway.
Mags- Had a stroke, and her speech isn't as clear as it used to be. Also, she uses a cane, which was taken away from her during the 75th games, presumably because it can be used as a weapon, and she had to rely on Finnick to be mobile during that time in the arena, on top of PTSD or some form of trauma.
Haymitch- Has PTSD (i.e. the bad nightmares), and whilst nothing is said in the book, the alcoholism he has to use to cope with everything has probably messed his liver up. On top of that, the withdrawal symptoms whilst sobering up in D13 were probably disabling, too.
Annie- Has PTSD or Psychosis. She has hallucinations, putting her hands to her ears when triggered by things that remind her of the 70th games or being tortured.
Finnick- PTSD and had multiple breakdowns in D13. On top of the trauma that comes with sexual exploitation, which many other Victors would also have (maybe not the same presentation of symptoms/ coping mechanisms!) if/when Snow forced them into prostitution.
Also, obviously, Chaff, Seeder, Wiress, Cashmere, Cecilia, and basically every Victor is dealing with the trauma and various mental and physical problems after the games, which again are disabilities or disabling!
Non- Victors
Mrs Everdeen- Has depression that renders her mute and unresponsive after Mr Everdeen's death.
Gale- Not stated explicitly, but having to work in the same mines that killed your father, having to then be the one to have to hunt so they survive on top of being in poverty, and then having to save as many people from your district when Snow tries to bomb it would lead to some sort of impact on your mental, physical and emotional health. Also, the whipping he received in Catching Fire would leave a massive injury and be a nightmare for anyone.
Madge's mom- Has constant migraines, which I assume increased after Maysilee's death.
Pollux—He has his tongue cut out and communicates through gestures; this also applies to the rest of the Avox's.
District 10 Boy- in the 74th games, this tribute is described as having a crippled foot.
Those are all the characters from the book who are disabled or become disabled by the system. And I think the fandom forgets that a lot—which isn't helped by the movies erasing things like Johanna's Hydrophobia or Peeta's prosthetic leg. This is annoying to me as many characters, such as Annie, will get ableism thrown their way, yet that person's favourite character will actually be considered disabled- also because I am a disabled woman and having to put up with ableism is a nightmare anyway.
I know we talk about trauma such as PTSD and Psychosis a lot in this fandom, as we should! It's imperative to the message of THG's and the characters of these books! But I've never seen someone explicitly say these characters are disabled; they count as disability representation. And I think if we did that, then
a) We could talk about things like psychosis, PTSD and other traumas these characters experience with greater insight and find empathy and strength within characters we couldn't before and maybe the ableism thrown at the characters would lessen a bit as well.
b) Calling it disability/ disabling on top of the diagnosis would enable us to examine other bits of Panem and see another way it affects people. It would also provide a greater depth of analysis in terms of how we talk about poverty, the games, and other things within the narrative.
Such as how if you were a wheelchair user in the districts, especially D8-12, you wouldn't have access to a mobility aid, so you are either forced to find or create an unsuitable mobility aid such as a cane or are effectively left without aid. On top of this, if they did have a wheelchair (I highly doubt it!) It would be taken away because it could be used as a weapon ( like Glimmer's ring or Mags's cane- also, wheelchairs make good battering rams), so you would be left immobile. We could also discuss how D1-D4 are wealthier and how that affects things like disability and healthcare compared to D7, 8, 9, 10,11,12. Also how D1, D2, D3 and 5 or 6 have the materials or would be the Districts most able to make mobility aids if the Capitol even let them.
This is also a double-edged sword because I know if this conversation around disability within THG starts, there will be many that are going to have some terrible takes. It's going to make my blood pressure rise, and it'll be a nightmare to combat and, as a disabled woman, worse to read. And if this discussion does take off, then I'm gonna need this fandom to understand the three models of disability at a bare minimum! Not that you can't comment without that knowledge at all it just will save a lot of bad takes!
DISCLAIMER- I am just one disabled woman. There are plenty of disabled ppl within this fandom with a different opinion from mine, and I AM NOT AN EXPERT on disability!
TLDR: Many of the characters are disabled and yet face ableism within fandom when they shouldn't. We should start explicitly analysing the series through a disability lens on top of the ones we already explore, but I am terrified by the terrible takes and analysis that would occur.
Thank you for sending in an ask; I'm always happy to answer more! Also, I'm so sorry it's so long. It's probably not what you were expecting for an unpopular take ask. I had a huge thought process for this one, and I really wanted to go in-depth and try to make sure others understood!
Also, I love your odesta fanfiic's and can't wait to read more 🙂!

Any Seeder headcanons?
hi!! i do not think about seeder a lot in a context outside of beetee, but i definitely have some hcs!!
she won the 30th at 15, and was the third victor from D11.
she was mentored by the second victor from eleven, lyrical barnett (17th).
her arena was a barren desert, and she won by laying down in the sand and basically waiting for death to come.
she didn’t kill anyone, but when the boy from nine stumbled on the spot where she was hiding, she accidentally led him into a den of vipers, believing it was safe to go that way. she still feels immense guilt for it.
the 30th was considered a complete disaster by the capitol and because of that, seeder was largely pushed aside by them for other victors.
her favorite color was yellow before she won, but after, she couldn’t see it without being reminded of her arena. now her favorite is light green.
she likes photography, and she bonded with woof over that (woof’s victor talent is photography).
on that same note, seeder’s victor talent is crocheting. she wanted it to be woodworking, but she was told it wasn’t “feminine enough”. she still does it in her spare time.
in terms of victors, she was preceded by cordelia lovera (D4, 29th) and succeeded by corduroy evans (D8, 31st). the two cords lol.
she’s closer to corduroy than cordelia, mainly because corduroy is from an outer district like her while cordelia is a career.
seeder dislikes careers with a passion, like the majority of the outer district victors do. she’s gotten better at not hating them all without even knowing them but it never completely goes away.
hope you enjoy anon!! thank you for the ask 💗

I've compiled a comprehensive list of every single Hunger Games victor. This includes names, years won, living victors by the 75th Hunger Games/3rd Quarter Quell, and surviving victors post-Mockingjay (indicated by a '+' symbol).
All canon victors (appearing in film and/or book, names are not necessarily canon) and years will be indicated by bold text in their respective categories.
I am in no way a qualified person who should be making this, but I scoured the wiki with a google doc and a dream. All in the spirit of fun and comprehensibility.
All of this information is based on the "Victors" and "List of victors" fandom Wikipedia pages, and the names were taken from the scrapped "Tribute monoliths" that were supposed to be featured in Mockingjay.
Have fun with my list! Feel free to share your takes.

It's been quite a journey, but, at last, the Flash/Hunger Games crossover that no one asked for is complete!
And it is, by far, the longest fanfic I've ever written.

My off the wall theory from Sunrise on the Reaping is that Lou Lou is related to Seeder from Catching Fire. It’s stated in Catching Fire that Seeder looks like she could be from the Seam if it weren’t for her eye color. All the other characters from District 11 are very much implied to be Black. Then in SOTR this little girl from a district of almost exclusively Black people is kidnapped and forced into being a body double for a Seam girl. Just seems like an odd coincidence. Perhaps they came from the same family.

Johanna Mason
Johanna Mason. From District 7 Lumber and paper, thus the tree. She won by very convincingly portraying herself as weak and helpless so that she would be ignored. Then she demonstrated a wicked ability to murder. She ruffles up her spiky hair and rolls her wide-set brown eyes. "Isn't my costume awful? My stylist's the biggest idiot in the Capitol. Our tributes have been trees for forty years under her. I wish I'd gotten Cinna. You look fantastic."
So stylists do stay with Districts for a long time. I wonder which district was Tigris' while she was a stylist. (I have a headcanon it's 4 but no proof of that.)
While we wait for the elevators, Johanna unzips the rest of her tree, letting it drop to the floor, and then kicks it away in disgust. Except for her forest green slippers, she doesn't have on a stitch of clothing. "That's better." We end up on the same elevator with her, and she spends the whole ride to the seventh floor chatting to Peeta about his paintings while the light of his still-glowing costume reflects off her bare breasts. When she leaves, I ignore him, but I just know he's grinning. I toss aside his hand as the doors close behind Chaff and Seeder, leaving us alone, and he breaks out laughing.
It makes me a bit sad Haymitch isn't in this version of the scene, but maybe Chaff told him about it.
