Haymitch, with Burdock and Blair, Waving at Maysilee, Merrilee and Asterid: Hey! Burdock wants to know if Asterid wants to go to the meadow tomorrow on a picnic!

Burdock, hissing: Haymitch! Shut up

Maysilee: Oh, Asterid would love too! She requests that Burdock dress nice, however.

Asterid, scandalized: Maysie!

Haymitch: He'll be dressed in his best, and he'll bring some liquor and food. Does the evening work?

Maysilee: Perfect, she'll be off her shift by then. She'll see him then.

Burdock & Asterid: Guys!

Haymitch and Maysilee, shaking hands like a business proposal has just been accepted, exclaiming 'good work' and 'see you next time, Donner' as Asterid and Burdock stare at their respective friend in muted horror and Blair and Merrilee are laughing.

I like to think that Burdock's Ma was the one who taught Burdock how to swim. Burdock, who brought along his best friend Haymitch at the ripe age of four because he's gotta show his friend and Hay's Ma said it was fine as long as Burdock’s Ma was with them.

Burdock's Ma had proceeded to teach them by chucking Burdock and Haymitch into the water and snapping her fingers, teaching them to float. She would laugh hysterically at them until they got it, being gentle and sweet and humming absent-mindedly, talking about the plants and the fish as they listen attentively.

Blair came along and learned, and the three would spend their weekends around the lake, giggling and shoving each other under the water for fun, just three regular kids who didn't know the world was gonna hurt them, oblivious to anything besides the sound of the water flowing and the crickets and birds. It was peaceful.

Cute random Sotr fic idea stuck in my head:

Seeing scenes from We Were Liars and the only thing I can think of is seeing Victor's! Maysilee and Haymitch staying a month with Mags in District Four (disguised as some capital propaganda shoot or whatever as an excuse), and having fun swimming in the ocean and learning how to surf. Family Mags, Haymitch, and Maysilee sitting around outside a beach house with a bonfire and maybe other victors and families Mags introduced them to.

Kudos if they meet a little Finnick or Annie.

A Status Notice on Victory Suits the Dead: Chapter 4

To the very few who might be waiting on Victory Suits The Dead: Chapter 4 (aka my Haymitch and Burdock fanfiction) and just happen to know my tumblr lmao:

Just know it's not abandoned and chapter 4 will be out as soon as possible! I just happened to be very busy this month and haven't gotten around to editing it yet haha. Wanted to make a notice on here just to let some people know it's still very much outlined and in works! (Aka my Sotr addiction is very much still up and active haha).

Honestly, trying to write a longer fic makes me appreciate all the fanfiction authors who have done this for me, so just as a side note, know that I love all of you and respect you immensely. You make my year and hold my heart.

To any of those who have left comments on my works, just know that those have made me so happy beyond belief it's insane. I read and reread those a lot and remind myself that some people enjoy my work and it gives me motivation to write more so know y'all really be pushing us haha.

Hey guys so actually Maysilee Donner lived and so did Lenore Dove and Haymitch stayed with the Donners and Maysilee and Haymitch used Haymitch's house for parties. Haymitch is Maysilee's brother and she and Lenore Dove still bicker and Haymitch thinks it's funny. And Haymitch and Maysilee gossip and talk mad shit about everyone in District Twelve AND the Capital. No one is safe from the pair. This is now canon because I said so.

Somewhere out there, there's a picture of a young Haymitch, Lyme, Seeder, Chaff, and maybe even Wiress if Haymitch managed to drag her and convince her lmao (I bet he did at least once). Drunk and on so many things, taking early 2000s drunk girl photos in a bathroom at a random Capitol club.
