bit of an idea I had at the start of July for a Seb/Hawke daughter who is also a member of the Veilguard! Lettie's a Veil Jumper apprentice under Bellara who ran away from home because she wants to find her mom (11 years post Hawke Sacrifice).

Mass Effect x Dragon Age AU

I did one of these already, sort of, for ME: Andromeda, but this one is set in the Milky Way.

Elaborations below:

Merrill is a quarian who was exiled from the Migrant Fleet. She's looking for a way not to destroy the geth, but to bring them back under quarian control, thinking they're too valuable a resource to just get rid of. Unfortunately, this made many quarians view her as dangerous, and she was exiled for the crime of experimental geth research. Making Merrill a quarian was the first choice I did for this AU, I think it fits really well.

Aveline is an asari. I'd considered krogan or turian, or simply keeping her human, but in the end I went with asari mostly because Aveline always struck me as condescending in the same way many asari are, lol. She's a commando who later moved to the Citadel to join C-SEC.

Isabela is a turian. She's a barefaced turian, meaning she has no association to a colony. Instead of following the typical turian tradition of proudly serving in the Hierarchy's military, Isabela instead ran off to become a space pirate, specializing in smuggling. She frequents the bars around Omega and has earned herself a fearsome reputation among the mercenaries.

Bethany remains a human; she grew up on a colony world with her siblings, and had a relatively peaceful childhood, despite the Alliance constantly badgering her parents to send her and her older sister to their biotic training program.

Marian, also a human, eventually ran away from home to become a mercenary. She resented her father for forbidding her and her siblings from joining the Alliance - not because she was particularly patriotic, but she felt like her father's grudge against the Alliance prevented her and her siblings from receiving the best training possible. Her powerful biotics made her both an asset and a target, and she soon caught the eye of a certain Council Spectre...

Fenris is a drell. He was raised under the Compact, an agreement between the drell and the hanar, and his purpose was to become a bodyguard... And then his training group was attacked by batarian slavers and he was taken captive. For many years, Fenris suffered under the batarians' rule, until he finally managed to escape. Unwilling to return home, he instead roams the galaxy, taking out as many batarian slaving operations as he can.

Anders is a human who escaped from a biotic testing facility run by Cerberus. Though this left him with a grudge against Cerberus, he also hates the Alliance, whom he sees as no better and will also use biotic children as weapons. He dreams of establishing a safe haven for biotics, and is willing to go to increasingly drastic measures to see that dream become a reality.

Varric is a volus. Unlike his business-minded brother, Varric does not spend his days negotiating trade agreements or doing finance consultations. Spending his days at the Afterlife bar on Omega, he's an information broker, and a pretty damn good one at that. With his specially crafted weapon Bianca, he's not too bad in a fight, either.

Carver, much like his older sister, left home to seek out his own path, and ended up joining the Alliance against his parents' wishes. He thrived in the military, quickly climbing the ranks due to his strength and competency. He's being primed for N7 training under the wathcful eye of Spectre Sebastian Vael.

Sebastian is a human, and a Council Spectre (I'm imagining this AU as a sort of nebulous period where humanity isn't as looked down upon as they were at the start of ME1, and there are a fair number of human Spectres running around). A wild child in his youth, his parents sent him to the Alliance to straighten him out, and to their relief, it worked like a charm. He specializes in covert missions and favors sniper rifles and tech powers.

i fought a dragon with sebastian near the beginning of act 3 and we're almost at the end and it's still all he'll talk about. every time i right click him he's like "the dragon is truly the most magnificent of the marker's creations!" it's all he'll say. he's obsessed. i love him so much.😂

DA2 Hawke + Companion Banters - Sebastian

Hawke: You actually like my jokes, Sebastian.

Sebastian: You sound surprised.

Hawke: No one, and I mean absolutely no one likes my jokes. Maybe Varric and Merrill. But you’re the only person who finds me genuinely funny. I think.

Sebastian: You’d be right to say so. Do people really not like your jokes?

Hawke: No! And I have no idea why. Maybe it’s the timing.

Hawke: What was Starkhaven like? Do you miss it?

Sebastian: It's, ahem, different to here.

Hawke: You can just say that Kirkwall is a shithole. No one's going to dispute you.

Sebastian: I think ‘different’ is apt enough. I do miss Starkhaven at times. Our courtyards, for one, are much nicer.

Hawke: Well, then. I’ll have to visit. Only for the courtyards, though.

Sebastian: I’d be glad to give you a tour.

Hawke: I noticed the Chantry’s got forget-me-nots in its gardens now.

Sebastian: Yes! I found some seeds. I believed… it was in need of some colour.

Hawke: Prince. Priest. Archer. Gardner.

Sebastian: Lofty titles, I know.

Hawke: You were close to your grandfather?

Sebastian: Very. I regret not spending more time with him during my childhood. I still carry his principles with me today, though I think it’s also made me a little biased towards the longbow.

Hawke: He sounds like a wise man. It really is a beautiful weapon. I never had the chance to learn, but I’m halfway decent with throwing knives at least.

Sebastian: I could teach you, if you’d like.

Hawke: Really? That’s so- I would love that. Thank you.

Fenris: I see that you like to remain close to Hawke in battle.

Sebastian: Everyone has a blind spot. You learn that quickly as an archer. As formidable a mage as she is, Destan has one too.

Hawke: I feel safer already.

Sebastian: I put a memorial up for your mother in the Chantry.

Hawke: Oh.

Sebastian: Do you… disapprove? I can take it down, if you wish.

Hawke: No, no. I was just surprised. You’re a kind person. I knew that already, yet still you continue to surprise me.

Sebastian: Kindness is the least I can do for you, my lady.

Hawke: I- for me? (chuckles) I’d rather you give it to someone who is worthy of it.

Sebastian: Everyone deserves kindness, Destan. Especially you.

Hawke: I planted the seeds you gave me. My sister used to love forget-me-nots. That’s probably why they’re my favourites. Because they were her’s.

Sebastian: My eldest brother liked them, too.

Hawke: Is that why you planted them in the Chantry?

Sebastian: Ah… yes. But that’s not the only reason.

Hawke: Yes, I remember. You wanted more colour. I don’t blame you; Kirkwall is far too grey for my liking.

Hawke: I like you, Sebastian. I feel as if you actually tolerate me.

Sebastian: I do more than tolerate you, Destan. I should hope I’ve made that obvious by now.

Hawke: Oh, yes! Yes. Absolutely. Yes.

Merrill: You don't know what he's talking about, do you?

Hawke: No.

Hawke: I think I’m going to invite my uncle to the wedding.

Sebastian: Destan, my light, are you sure? It’s your decision, but I want to make sure you aren’t doing it out of obligation.

Hawke: Mhm, it’s a terrible idea. I know. But I feel like finally we’ve reached some kind of understanding. He, um, he waters the flowers. The forget-me-nots. He does it when he thinks I’m not looking or not at home. But he does it. There’s no obligation, just my foolish sentiment.

Sebastian: Your ‘foolish sentiment’ happens to be one of the things I adore about you.

Hawke: You certainly know how to make me blush.

Sebastian: I try.

Hawke: I feel like I’m mourning this city before it’s even crashed and burned.

Sebastian: To me, it seems as if you are the only thing keeping it standing.

Hawke: Sometimes, I want to convince myself that the people here don’t deserve it. That I should just leave, let it crumble, have Orsino and Meredith battle it out somewhere quiet so I don’t have to bloody deal with it anymore.

Sebastian: But you can’t. You’ve kindness down to your bones, Destan.

Hawke: They’re wearier for it.

I don't know if this is me trying to make narrative sense over some seemingly contradicting points, but I can absolutely believe Sebastian being weirdly OK with blood magic, if not under very specific circumstances.

Because Sebastian himself is a man of contradictions, he can be a hypocrite.

I think logically he knows its wrong, he knows Elthina would never approve, but there is some part of him that's thrilled by the prospect of power, of inheritance, especially with Hawke involved. In the face of that, what's a little blood magic?

Like he's valedictorian he's grammy's good boy he volunteers on the weekends but god damn when the delinquent kid Hawke walks by if he doesn't want to just get on that motorcycle with them and ride off into the sunset. He probably doesn't in most instances. But he could. He might.

Something I cannot get out of my head is a world state where romanced Leliana becomes divine, and Hawke friendmanced Sebastian. What happens then? They had committed to a life of purity and dedication to the Maker/Chantry together, but then the new Divine Victoria grants members of the Chantry the permission to engage in mortal affairs? As Love is the greatest gift from the Maker? ARE YOU SEEING THE VISION??

I was looking up a clip of Sebastian talking about the Qun in Mark of the Assassin because I wanted the exchange of: "Are you leaving me for the Qun?" and he laughs and softly goes, "Never." I didn't find it so I settled with the banter between Carver and Sebastian in the Legacy DLC. I scrolled through the comments and found this:

So, you know, do with that what you will. But won't it be funny if, on their wedding night, Sebastian and Felicisima have different understandings of what a chaste marriage is? Like, Sebastian just thinks Felicisima isn't sexually attracted to him while she thinks chaste marriage means absolutely no fuckies?

Anders welcomes their touch as if it’s a salvation for him.

The mage hunted down by Templars desired so fervently by the Hero of Kirkwall. Gentle, brushing touches leave him ravenous and Hawke teases him so. A grab along the waistband, or carelessly letting their hand ghost along the his freckles.

As the guards pass by, Anders can barely hear them look for the Apostate. Hawke has him pinned against the wall, their lips and tongue try to keep the besotted mage quiet as he tries to keep his moans low.

Sebastian goes against every rational thought that tells him this is wrong. Hawke plays a dangerous game with the brushing touches against him, especially in the open view of the Chantry.

Despite the verbose warnings Starkhaven’s prince has to offer to Hawke, he’s suddenly mute when their armored hand caresses his face. How can an innocent touch be loaded with a searing, underlying intent?

Losing any last shred of inhibitions, Sebastian lets Hawke crash their lips onto his before he surrenders and reciprocates. It’s wrong, forbidden and he could get caught, but Maker’s Breath it feels too perfect to pull away.
