For example, perhaps if you have been in your individual yard plus your neighbor? s dog dived the fence plus bit you, the particular owner wouldn? t be liable for damages if these people could prove a person did something to provoke the strike.
The One-Bite Principle
If you find out that the doggie that bit you needed a previously acknowledged history of viciousness, the particular owner will end up being liable for accidents. Washington law holds the owner regarding a vicious canine or wild creature liable if they knew or reasonably should have identified that the animal had dangerous propensities. Seattle Local Canine Ordinances
Chapter nine. 25 of the Seattle, Washington, City and county Code states recommendations for animal manage. The goal of these ordinances is always to prevent harm to the population through animals and to cease animal cruelty simply by establishing rules regarding control. Chapter nine. 25 places the particular main obligation of control compliance together with the owners or possessors of the creature. Every key takeaways out of this chapter:
Harmful animals. The overseer of finance plus administrative services has the right to conduct an investigation directly into reports of a new potentially dangerous pet. Following the investigation, the particular director may declare your canine dangerous in addition to notify the operator in writing how to proceed. The owner next has got the right in order to write as well as claim why your dog isn? t dangerous or perhaps to petition for the animal shelter or even relocation instead involving humane disposal.
Off-leash dog areas throughout Seattle. In Dallaz, it is forbidden for pet proprietors to let animals run in particular. The only places owners may let their pups off leash about public property (other than service animals) is in designated off-leash areas. For instance ,:
Parts of Genesee Area
Golden Backyards Park
Magnuson Recreation area
I-5 Open Place
Westcrest Park
Woodland Playground
Boren-Pike-Pine Area
East Duwamish Greenbelt
Northacres Park
Regrade Park
Taking some sort of dog off-leash requires the owner to possess voice control above the dog from all times. Canines must have valid permit tags attached to collars in off-leash areas. Dangerous creatures may not utilize the city? s off-leash areas.
Rabies shots. Seattle makes rabies vaccinations mandatory for all those dogs, cats, plus ferrets. Washington state rule WAC 246-100-197 states that proprietors dog bite injury attorney of these household pets must obtain rabies vaccinations and revaccinations based on veterinary instruction. An owner that ignores this principle is going to be liable with regard to incidents involving doggie bites and rabies.
Strict Liability Intended for Animals Off Their Leash
All animal owners must abide by state and citywide laws regarding canine ownership. Failure to obey the law, making dog mouthful or animal harm, will result in strict responsibility on the part of the operator or possessor involving the animal.
After having a harmful dog mouthful attack, your first of all goal should get to receive medical care for your injuries. Then, determine responsibility to your injuries. Inside Seattle, the owner of the real estate where the attack occurred is not automatically the particular party legally accountable for the dog. Instead of blaming the owner, the law can look in the real owner, possessor, keeper, or harborer associated with the dog showcased.
According to state law, anyone which? harbors, keeps, or is negligent with a dog? can be liable for associated injuries. The legislation protects landlords coming from liability unless typically the landlord is furthermore the keeper/harborer associated with the dog. Anybody who unreasonably did not control the dog on the day of the attack, resulting in personal injury, may be liable. The courts will certainly decide who has been in control of the pet on the working day from the attack.

is 7 days too late for rabies vaccine after a possible non-bite exposure?
The rabies vaccine suddenly failed to rescue the life span of a 6-year-old boy in Tunisia who was infected with the virus, although doctors began treating him the exact same day that a stray dog bit him in the face, according to a new report of his case. "It is quite rare to have the how long does it take for poison ivy to show up? post-exposure regime neglect, however there are instances where it does fail," said Dr. Amesh Adalja, a part of the Infectious Diseases Society of America and a physician at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, who was not involved in the child's care. The vaccine virtually always functions when the injections are delivered soon after a individual is exposed to the rabies virus. It is possible that the physicians failed to fully clean out the dog's saliva from each one the boy's wounds. But even without such an error, there are rare instances where the vaccine doesn't work in people, according to the case report, published Jan. 14 in the journal BMJ Case Reports. They administered rabies immunoglobulin, which are antibodies that can fight the rabies virus; these were sent directly to the bite wound on his brow in addition to intravenously, into his blood. is 7 days too late for rabies vaccine after a possible non-bite exposure? They also recovered the post-exposure rabies vaccine into his arm on the day it occurred and on days 3, 7 and 14 after the sting, following World Health Organization guidelines. When a dozen bats flew out of a crack near the door of Aaron Holmes' Guemes Island vacation home last fall, the 39-year-old retired Microsoft programmer said he had been startled, but not scared. But when he felt a sharp prick on his finger and saw among the creatures clinging to his trousers, Holmes immediately knew he'd need rapid treatment for possible rabies exposure. "When I spoke to the nurse about the phone, I guessed I was needing when her reaction was,'You'd better get your butt in here,'" said Holmes, who jumped into a vehicle and drove two or more hours into a Group Health urgent-care centre near his Sammamish house. The nurse was correct. Bites or scratches by a bat, the only known reservoir for rabies in Washington state, call for a collection of a minimum of five shots delivered within two weeks to protect against the almost-always fatal infection. But a fresh review by King County health officials demonstrates that, while Holmes' treatment was appropriate, many people who have run-ins with dogs, cats, ferrets and other animals are receiving rabies shots whenever they do not need them. In reality, almost half of the treated in King County between 2011 and 2013 did not meet criteria for getting rabies post-exposure prophylaxis, or PEP. "Some of them were getting PEP for puppy snacks, some of them for stray cat bites, some for raccoon scratches and bites," said Meagan Kay, a veterinarian and medical epidemiologist for Public Health -- Seattle & King County. "The concern is providing people rabies PEP if it's not really a high-risk vulnerability" "The hard part with rabies isthat it is always a fatal disease," Kay said. But healthcare officials say health workers ought to be running better history checks for every patient with possible rabies exposure, and should follow instructions to the letter to prevent unnecessary use of the pricey and often-scarce vaccines. which age group is appropriate to receive the 2-dose hpv9 vaccine series? "Oftentimes, insurance will not cover the administration of PEP if it's not recommended, and it can be tens of thousands of dollars," Kay noted. "Sometimes that will get people to reconsider if they want it." However, she added:"When there is fear in the film, no quantity of money will dissuade it." They closely examined records from 2011 to 2013, after a change in Washington law that limited reports of animal bites to those that comprised possible rabies exposure. In recent years, King County health officials have obtained as many as 350 reports of animal bites each year, with roughly 80 individuals receiving rabies PEP. Statewide, nearly 240 people received rabies PEP in 2014, records show.

What Is the Personal Injury Statute of Limitations in Washington State?
If you have been involved in an accident caused by someone else, you may consider filing a personal injury lawsuit in civil court. Whether you experienced a slip-and-fall or a car accident, you must understand and abide by Washington’s Statute of Limitations. In simpler terms, you must settle or file a lawsuit within a certain amount of time, or your case will be time-barred.
Read on to learn more about Washington’s personal injury statute of limitations, its importance, and the various ways in which the filing period may be extended.
The Time Limit for Washington Personal Injury Lawsuits is Involving Negligence is Generally Three Years
Located in the Revised Code of Washington section 4.16.080, Washington’s personal injury statute establishes a three-year time limit for filing most conceivable types of personal injury lawsuits involving the negligence of others. So, when the liability principle of negligent tort drives your case (e.g., car accident, slip and fall, wrongful death, dog bite), you will have three years to settle your case with the at-fault party or their insurer, or file a lawsuit in the appropriate court. You will not be entitled to a civil remedy or damages for your losses if you don’t settle the case or file a lawsuit within three years from the date of the loss.
The Time Limit for Washington Personal Injury Lawsuits is Involving the Intentional Torts of Libel, Slander, Assault or Battery is Limited to Two Years from the Date of the Incident.
Located in the Revised Code of Washington section 4.16.100, Washington’s personal injury statute establishes a two-year time limit for filing personal injury lawsuits involving the intentional harm caused by others when it is for libel or slander, also known collectively as defamation, and assaults and batteries. So, when the liability principle of intentional tort drives your case (false verbal or written statements or direct physical or mental harm to you), you will have two years to settle your case with the at-fault party, or file a lawsuit in the appropriate court. You will not be entitled to a civil remedy or damages for your losses if you don’t settle the case or file a lawsuit within two years from the date of the loss. Note that insurance companies generally do not provider insurance coverage to people who cause intentional harm to others.
Time Limits for Serving the Defendant with the Lawsuit Complaint
Keep in mind that filing the lawsuit within the applicable Statute of Limitations is only the first step. RCW 4.16.170 requires that you must then serve a copy of the complaint on the defendants within 90 days of filing the complaint.
What Happens If You Miss the Deadline?
If you file a personal injury lawsuit after three years have passed from the underlying negligent accident, or after two years from an intentional tort like assault or battery, the defendant will file a motion to dismiss, and it will be granted by the court. At the time the Statute of Limitations expires, you lose your right to request any compensation for any injuries and damages, despite the defendant’s fault or liability, and no matter how severe the damages are.
Exceptions to the Washington Personal Injury Statute of Limitations
There are a few situations in which Washington has decided for public policy reasons to extend the filing deadline. In some cases, the time limit may be delayed, and in others, the limit may be paused. Examples of such scenarios in which this extension may be applied include:
If the injured person is a minor at the time the injury occurs, meaning less than the age of 18, the injured minor will have three years from the date he or she turns 18 to settle or file a lawsuit. The Revised Code of Washington section 4.16.190 states that this exception also applies to a person injured in the incident who is at the time “incompetent or disabled to such a degree that he or she cannot understand the nature of the proceedings.” Thus, those falling under this category will also have three years to file until their competence is restored.
In medical negligence cases, also called medical malpractice, the Statute of Limitations will be extended one year from the date the negligent act or omission is discovered by the injured party if the discovery is made outside the three-year period.

Working on an Adam-12 AU to hassle @dying-redshirt-noises with - Pete is an ex-delinquent/runaway who changed his identity to get his shit together and become a cop. No one knows. (yet.)
One cool, coal-dark and damp night, under the fog-haloed streetlights, they pick up a hitchhiker by Union Station. The boy looks not much more than 15 - a face all hard edges and lines, but his jaw is smooth, unstubbled. None of the names he gives them are any good, but he's got no identification, and no coat, and nights in Los Angeles are like the wide dark sea, plied by intercity buses and low-slung cars with deep backseats. That kind of sea that'll open up and swallow you and close over as the dawn breaks, smooth as glass.
The boy bites his lip and fiddles with the bracelet on his wrist, one of those knotted-rope kinds you see in tourist shops by the pier, and he smells rank and adolescent in the back of the car. When Pete looks in the rear view mirror, as the shadows pass between the lights, it is easy to mistake his partner for the boy, the boy for his partner.
"Didn't have to hook me up," the boy had said, getting into the car. The cuffs had glinted on his wrists. "Didn't have to hook me up, you know." Softer. His hair is long, like boys these days. Pete can't place the accent, something broad and midwestern. What the boy says is just a statement: it bodes no disagreement. He is not a fighter. A survivor, likely, but no fighter.
Pete does not like the way those dark eyes pierce him. Jim does that, sometimes - a look like he knows something, a look like he is on the precipice of some mystery. Pete would like to keep his mysteries to himself, not farm them out to probationers and runaway boys. Pete would like those eyes not to catch him so hard, like banging your elbow on a corner, that swift and delirious rush.
The boy is too old for MacLaren, and too young to be held at the station, not without a name, not without some admittance to some family, somewhere. So it's Central Juvenile Hall, a hand of buildings hunkered down on Eastlake between the railroad and the freeway. The pale high walls face the avenue as blank and expressionless as the boys they pick up and turn back, on the regular, one or two a week. Boys that break out like a hobby, just something to do. When they ask them: son, why'd you run? The boys just shrug and look out the window, and they turn away with the blank-faced masters at their elbows, down the long, bleak, gleaming hallway.
MacLaren is perhaps not much better. He frames it to Jim as a decent place, a refuge, kind hands and warm beds, but it won't be long before Jim will hear the wailing of some child late at night, and Pete's picked up kids there, before, too, caught on the shoulder by their matrons. Broad-shouldered women with tight waves and unsmiling faces who just can't take this one anymore, officer.
Jim still believes in decency, and Pete wants to stretch that lie a little longer. Jim has only seen the doting workers fuss over abandoned babies and grimy, snotty toddlers crawling with lice and desperate for a warm embrace. Jim hasn't heard the howling. Jim hasn't come to break up a fight in a cottage and been hit with the feral stench of urine and clorox in a dormitory crowded with kids, so many kids, too damn many kids.
After they leave the boy in custody, signing over his sloping shoulders and his soft eyes, the silence swells around them like it does - Pete counts the streetlights waiting for his partner's question to break the tension and the dark.
"How's it happen?"
Pete thinks how grateful he is that Jim is still so green and raw as to believe he has all the answers. It's easier to skew him, then. Easier to nudge him this way or that.
He wonders if Mac or the Lieutenant thought that about him.
They might have been grateful for his obedience and acquiescence, but maybe, Pete thinks ruefully, only because it was (at one time, and he'll deny it up down and sideways) a rare thing.
"Whaddya mean?"
Give the boy a question for his question. Let him saw it out, what he's seen.
"A boy like that. How's he end up hitchhiking alone in the middle of the night?"
Pete keeps his eyes on the road. He knows that Jim is peering at him with those lost-puppy eyes, his throat taut, his expression keen. At least after dark, in the pure and purring darkness of the patrol car, Pete still has all the answers.
"Lot of reasons," Pete says. He is careful to keep the aloof shrug in his voice. He knows things, and he doles them out when he should so choose. "Kids run away from a lot of things, they get mixed up with the wrong crowd, they get in over their heads. Sometimes it's just one bad fight with their folks, sometimes it's a long time coming."
Sometimes, it's a lot of little things all piled together, like a game of jackstraws, and you can't tease one thing from the others without the whole of it coming down. Sometimes, it's just a river you can't seem to reach across. Sometimes, it's just a stupid kid whose mouth writes checks his ass can't cash.
"Oh." Jim says. Pete can just about hear his brain clicking and clacking, the clockwork winding up. The boy's smart, sure. If it seems for a moment he's accepted this answer, Pete's known him long enough now to know he's going to be pelted with another hand of questions in another minute or two.
"You know how it works." This is a preemptive strike - it throws a momentary wrench into the gears. "The kid'll get processed through, he'll be assigned a caseworker, he'll have a hearing. They'll place him, probably up at Preston."
"You think they'll try and find his folks?"
"They'll try. Can't say they'll have much luck. LA's a big county, California's a big state, and then you've got the whole rest of the country to think about."
"You suppose he's not from around here?"
"Does it matter?"
Silence again. That came out harder than he meant.
But it doesn't matter, does it? One boy, one bed, just the same as another. Detroit, Minneapolis, Los Angeles, Reno, Seattle, Portland. He's heard from probation officers and attorneys and social workers, he's been to conferences, it's all about the same. Same halls, same walls, same kids. He's heard there's a fellow over in Massachusetts trying to change some things, really upending the place, but he doesn't know anything will come of it. Central is much the same as it was six or seven years ago, Preston hasn't given an inch in decades, MacLaren has kids spilling out the windows, and the state hospitals are places he wouldn't leave his worst enemy's dead dog.
One boy, one bed, just the same as another, up and down the freeway, east to New York, north to Washington, south to Texas.
He can't shake the way the boy's eyes pierced him, just struck him open and spilled into him, stuck the hair up on the back of his neck. He can't shake it and he doesn't like it and it makes him snap at his partner, who has done nothing and knows nothing and Pete is going to keep it that way if it kills him.
(He has never had a partner who looks at him like Jim does. Mac looked at him two ways: exasperation, or the exasperation of the bigger brother. Tommy -
Tommy wasn't around long enough.)
When Tommy died he wanted to run. Like the boy, maybe.
(Again. He wanted to run again. Like he had been running since he was ten years old. Like he had been running since his pop came back from overseas and his mother held her head in her hands and wept softly when she thought her children couldn't hear.)

Take Your Dog to Work Day: A Tail-Wagging Extravaganza
Hang on to your leashes and brace yourself for an onslaught of puppy-dog eyes: June 21 is national Take Your Dog to Work Day.
Welcoming pups in the workplace is not such a far-fetched concept for employers whose business mission aligns with being dog-friendly. McLean, Va.-based Mars Inc. is known as much for its pet food, such as Whiskas, Pedigree and Iams, as for its iconic candy brands Snickers, Milky Way and M&M’s.
It offers feeding and boarding programs for the pets of employees who travel from some of its locations.
Its subsidiary Mars Petcare designed its new North American headquarters in Franklin, Tenn., to be the “pet-friendly workplace of the future,” with customized pet beds and toy storage throughout the building, two indoor play areas staffed by pet sitters and a “pack leader,” automated “slurp stations” at the coffee bars on every floor, and a Wi-Fi-enabled dog park.
Dogs are a part of the Tito’s Vodka brand in Austin, Texas, whose company tag line is “Vodka for dog people,” and the distillery works with nonprofit dog rescue organizations like Emancipet.
And Take Your Dog to Work Day is every day at Amazon. There can be as many as 6,000 dogs at the Seattle headquarters, which has a dog deck outfitted with dog-friendly water stations and a fake fire hydrant.
“Dogs in the workplace is an unexpected mechanism for connection,” said Lara Hirschfield, Amazon facilities manager, in a company blog. “I see ‘Amazonians’ meeting each other in our lobbies or elevators every day because of their dogs.”
Dog Days of November
One company took the concept of Take Your Dog to Work Day—created by Pet Sitters International in 1999—and stretched it into a monthlong observance. Sigstr, a tech marketing firm in Indianapolis, allowed its 70 employees to bring their canine companions to work throughout November 2018. Employees suggested the idea, and the company surveyed workers on their interest and comfort level with the initiative before implementing it. The concept has since evolved into allowing one person bringing in a dog per day throughout the year.
Emily Wolfington, Sigstr’s director of talent, recommended employers be flexible when instituting pet-friendly policies—which could mean, for example, allowing someone with pet allergies to work from home when a dog is on the premises. She advised HR to delegate a sponsor for this benefit.
“I’m a team of one [in HR] and this dog initiative is lower on my to-do list. If it doesn’t work, that’s OK.”
Among Sigstr’s guidelines: No dog is allowed when clients or board members visit, and a furry friend may be sent home if it poses a distraction or causes other problems.
“It’s been a very easy initiative for us because we’ve done a good job of setting expectations. Team members understand this is a privilege and can be taken away at any time,” Wolfington said.
Employers should be aware of the “one-bite rule,” a governing principle in most jurisdictions, said Joshua S. Bauchner, partner at Ansell Grimm & Aaron law firm in the New York City area.
“If a dog has bitten in the past, the owner is on notice that it can happen again and subject to strict liability,” he said. “By inviting the dog into the workplace, the employer reasonably may assume that liability for failing to ask if the employee’s dog has a record and by failing to take other necessary precautions.”
Greeter at Slice
Slice Communications, a media agency in Philadelphia with 15 employees, has at least one dog in the office every day, and sometimes as many as three.
“It’s a welcome treat not just for our employees, but for all visitors to our office,” said Giulia Umile, chief operating officer. Her French bulldog, Polpetta, welcomes guests and is often tagged in social media posts and mentioned in e-mails.
Having dogs at work “just instantly changes the mood,” but she said dogs are expected to be up-to-date on all shots and friendly with people and other dogs. The company also reserves the right to update its policy as necessary, as it did when an intern’s rescue dog had one too many “accidents.”
But Umile knows of no negative effects of being a dog-friendly workplace on hiring or retention, instead believing a dog-friendly office relaxes people.
Several staffers at Postali, a Columbus, Ohio, marketing service for attorneys and law offices, bring their dogs to work regularly. Four-footed pals enjoy a steady supply of treats and join employees for happy hour and meet-ups at the dog park.
“We’ve yet to encounter an allergy [issue] but would certainly make adjustments to make sure everyone is safe, even if that meant less-frequent dog visits,” said Jenna Saponaro, Postali’s chief of staff.
Thinking of helping your company go to the dogs? This checklist can help you get started.

Seattle Injury Law 1800 Westlake Ave N Suite 101 Seattle, WA 98109 (800) 928-5486
Seattle Injury Law is a Seattle based personal injury and car accident law firm. Our firm is interested in two things: the best service and the best results. We will do the work other firms won’t do to achieve the results other forms can’t. We are proudly competitive for our clients. If you have a case, we can make it better. Among the cases we specialize in are serious injury auto accidents, personal injuries, pedestrian vs. auto accidents, slip and fall accidents, dog bites, Constitutional excessive force cases against the police department, construction site accidents, insurance misconduct, and accidents to and from work.
The most serious of all personal injury accidents result in death. When this occurs, managing the stress and weight of the financial specifics is the last thing a family should have to go through. We believe strongly that a family shouldn’t have to bear the weight of making sure the claim is handled correctly. Sadly, insurance companies do not look out for victims, even when they result in death. Their adjusters and defense attorneys will fight hard to minimize the compensation to the grieving family. We know how to effectively convey to the insurance companies all of the information and arguments necessary for the successful resolution of an accident case. We fight to stand up for you, the victim, against the large corporation.
Tragically, thousands of people are injured each year in and around the Seattle area simply walking the streets. Pedestrians are left with no protection from the forces of accidents, and are typically severely injured when drivers are negligent. Also, Victims of dog bite injuries often and understandably suffer injuries that go beneath the skin, including fear, anxiety, and the need for emotional support and counseling. This is especially true of children. Our office can and will help with all of the above, to make sure that first and foremost, you have access to the highest level of medical and emotional care, and secondly, to make sure you are fairly compensated for all you’ve been through.
As Seattle Personal Injury Attorneys, we obtain exceptional results through a unique and personalized “client-centered” approach to personal injury law. We work with focused energy throughout the case, connecting with our clients regularly and working proactively to ensure your interests are represented at the highest level. In addition to your attorney, we feature a staff of trained investigators, negotiators, and paralegals- many of which have worked for insurance companies in the past “behind enemy lines”. Our firm will communicate frequently throughout the course of your claim. Want an update? Call us anytime.

Epilogue
It had been one year since Leopold had been killed in his attempt to rip their family apart and much had changed.
Weaver had minced no words to the press when he announced the business mogul's death and exposed his dastardly deeds. The media circus around his death and Mary Margaret's final liberation from her father had been exhausting and highly intrusive for a while. They had avoided most interviews and dodged reporters for several months, only giving sound bites that they were just glad to be together as a family and that her evil father could never hurt them again. The media craze eventually died down and Leopold Blanchard's dirty secrets came out, including all his dirty business dealings, the people he had ordered killed, and his sick obsession with his own daughter. His empire collapsed and after all his assets were liquidated by the bank, Mary inherited what was left.
At first, she wanted nothing to do with the small fortune, but after they thought it through, they decided that it was rightfully hers, especially since much of it had been built upon by her mother's fortune, as it had started out as her company. So they put most of it away for their children's college funds and bought a nice two story house in Storybrooke with a big yard. They had also adopted a family dog from the shelter and named him Wilby.
She continued teaching at the elementary school, while David was promoted to Sheriff upon Graham's decision to resign. He had decided to follow his true calling and run Storybrooke's animal shelter.
David didn't have to look far for his new deputy, as Rogers had decided that he really liked how perfect and quiet Storybrooke was as a rule. He had resigned his position in the Seattle police department and moved himself and Alice across the country. They settled in the loft once David and Mary Margaret found their house and had never been happier.
Weaver himself would have been sad to lose his two best detectives, but now that his mission to bring down Leopold Blanchard was complete, he himself had given in to the lure of Storybrooke. Or it might have been that he had been drawn to the brunette librarian he had met during his first visit to the quiet town. The library was struggling and Belle French feared that it would close. Until Weaver cashed in his pension, bought it, and handed the deed over to her with no strings attached. He had moved to Storybrooke, bought the old pawn shop, and enjoyed his new, lucrative line of work. But more so, he enjoyed dating Belle most.
Not to be outdone, Roni had sold the bar and moved across the country too and when the people became displeased with their interim Mayor, the Mayor's former mouthpiece and snake in the grass, Sidney Glass, many had urged Roni to run against him for Mayor. Mary Margaret encouraged her the most and with all her friends behind her, she had and won the race in a landslide victory.
It wasn't long before Zelena and her young daughter followed suit and bought a farmhouse on the outskirts of town.
Fiona Gold had gone to trial for conspiracy to commit murder, kidnapping, and other felonies that she was involved in as Mayor, including money laundering of the town's funds, which Weaver had suspected for years. It was exposed that she had used town funds for expensive beauty treatments and a lavish lifestyle. She was given a twenty-five year sentence with no early parole, so she likely would never be bothering any of them again.
Nine months after Leopold's death and they had all settled into Storybrooke, their family grew by one when Mary Margaret gave birth to hers and David's second child, their son, Jason James Nolan, or as they had affectionately dubbed him, JJ. Since Roni and Rogers were Emma's Godparents, they had decided that Weaver and Belle would be JJ's, which they humbly and graciously accepted. It had truly been an extraordinary year and they were all now living their best lives.
"That's very good," Mary said, as she walked around her classroom, observing her students working on their assignment. She had asked them to draw what would be their ideal happy endings. Some were drawing fantastical things, while others drew more realistic options. But as she discovered, no matter what life brought, happy endings weren't always what they were thought to be. And it was in the best way. She could have never predicted she be as happy as she was or that the man assigned to protect her just a few years ago would be that happy ending. And it wasn't even really an ending, for this was only the beginning of their happy life. They were so in love and had two beautiful children. Storybrooke provided a simple, quiet life and neither of them could be happier with it.
The bell rang and her students filed out for the day, as she spied her husband leaning up against the doorway, his Sheriff's badge displayed on his hip and he was wearing his leather jacket. She was sure that no man had ever made leaning against a door look so sexy.
"Hey there handsome," she said, as she greeted him with a kiss.
"Hey yourself, beautiful," he purred in response, as he kissed her again.
"You ready?" he asked. She nodded.
"I am...let's go get our babies," she replied, as they left to the school together, hand in hand.
They stopped at Ashley Herman's daycare and picked up their toddler and baby from her, before continuing on down the street with the baby in the stroller and Emma trotting beside them.
"Aunt Mary, Uncle David!" Alice called, as she came running toward them, ahead of Roni and Rogers. David lifted her up and Mary kissed her head.
"Hey there peanut," he greeted, as he kissed her hair too and then put her down, as she trotted alongside the stroller, as she and Emma chatted animatedly.
"What a day...I swear, I would give anything to get another lawyer to run against Spencer for district attorney. My whole afternoon was spent arguing with that dumbass," Roni complained.
"But you do love to argue, love," Rogers quipped.
"Not with him," she said.
"Well, there are rumors that Sean Herman's dad is thinking about running against him," Mary interjected.
"Good...he has my full endorsement. Now, if I could just get rid of Judge Frollo, this town's justice system won't be a joke," she said.
"Slowly but surely...we're cleaning up this town. Fiona and her cronies did a lot of damage over the years," David said.
"Yes...but thankfully, mother dearest is no longer a problem," Weaver chimed in, as he and Belle met them outside Granny's diner. Now that they were all together, they proceeded inside and were met with all their new friends. They enjoyed food and drink with their friends and watched their children play.
Later that evening, as Emma and JJ were occupied by Granny and some of their other friends, David and Mary Margaret took that moment to enjoy a dance together as a slow, romantic song began to play on the jukebox. She gazed up at him with a dreamy stare, as they slowly swayed together.
"What are you thinking?" she inquired curiously. He smiled at her.
"About the night we met and everything we've been through since then. It's all been worth it for this moment," he answered. She hummed in agreement.
"It has...I'm so happy," she told him.
"Me too," he said, as they looked over at their precious children. They were getting sleepy and so he took that as a queue.
"What do you say we take the kids home and then we do some more celebrating...alone," he suggested. She grinned and bit her bottom lip.
"I'd say that sounds like the best idea I've heard all day," she said, as they joined hands and gathered their children up. They said goodbye to their friends for the evening and headed off for home. A home they would never have to run from again...

11 Surprising Things Covered by Homeowners Insurance
When it comes to homeowners insurance, typical policies cover such hazards as fire, vandalism, and lightning strikes. And while every policy is different, there are also a variety of surprising or unusual items and accidents that your coverage provider may very well foot the bill for. Everything from hitting someone with a golf ball when enjoying a day on the greens to the costs associated with identity theft could be part of your plan. Unfortunately, few consumers understand the full scope of their coverage. A study from the Insurance Information Institute found that while consumers understand the major areas that their house insurance covers, they often have gaps in their knowledge about policies. Consumers canand shouldeducate themselves about their coverage, recognize that they may have gaps in their coverage and seek guidance from an insurance professional when they purchase or renew a policy, states the report. With that in mind, heres a look at some of the lesser known items and accidents that home insurance often covers. Damage Caused by Wild Animals Few people relish the idea of coming home to an uninvited furry guest, but its been known to happen on occasion, particularly in areas with dense deer or bear populations, says Christopher ORourke, a vice president of property claims with Mercury Insurance. Bears, in particular, are resourceful and can enter homes through open windows or by manipulating a door handle simply following the scent of food, so be sure to keep windows and doors closed and locked, said ORourke. The good news is that any damages an animal may cause while in your home are covered by your homeowners insurance policy, ORourke added. Golf Injuries and Damage Do you live on or near a golf course? Those who have experienced broken windows, roof damage, or divots to exterior walls caused by stray shots can expect to have such damage covered by a home insurance policy, said ORourke. Also, many recreational golfers are admitted to emergency rooms each year after accidentally being hit by a golf ball or flying club head, ORourke added. If youre the golfer with the faulty swing in one of these scenarios, your homeowners, condo owners, or renters insurance policy will cover the cost of injuries or property damage. Property Loss at College For those who have children living away at college it may be helpful to know that your home insurance policy has them covered at least when it comes to items that are stolen or damaged. This typically applies to a child or other immediate family member under the age of 24, explained Jeff Snyder, vice president of insurance for Matic, a digital homeowners insurance marketplace. This coverage can come in handy when an expensive laptop goes missing from a dorm, said Snyder, pointing out that liability insurance is also automatically extended on your policy to cover your child while away at school. This protects your child from any non-criminal property or medical damages they could be liable for, Snyder continued. Knowing you have this protection can help you sleep easier at night. Check with your insurance carrier prior to sending your child off to college to make sure they have adequate coverage. Lost Luggage Airlines are notorious for losing luggage. In October 2018, the most recent data available, the U.S. Department of Transportation reported 132,187 mishandled baggage claims. And of course, flying isnt the only travel related instance in which your luggage may get lost or stolen. As it turns out, your home insurance may come in handy in such situations. If your luggage or other property is stolen, lost, or damaged while on a trip, this may actually be covered under your homeowners insurance policy, Snyder explained. Most policies offer protection for your belongings away from your property. Volcano Damage Planning on moving to Hawaii or any other area known to have active volcanoes? The good news is your home insurance has your back. Although homeowners insurance policies do not cover you for a flood or earthquake, most policies will cover damage caused by a volcanic eruption, said Snyder. Dog Bites We all love our pets. But the reality is, sometimes those pets can get you into trouble. Christopher Earley, an attorney who has been handling homeowners insurance claims for 15 years, says many people are not aware that home policies will cover dog bites. For example, if you own a dog that bites someone, and that person is injured as a result, your homeowners coverage will be triggered if a claim is made. The dog bite does not have to occur on your property for homeowners coverage to apply, Earley explained. Almost 90 million dogs are owned as pets in this country and 4.5 million people are bitten by dogs each year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which also points out that nearly one in five people bitten by a dog requires medical attention. According to the Insurance Information Institute, homeowners and renters insurance policies generally cover dog bite legal expenses up to the liability limits, which are typically $100,000 to $300,000. In the event that a claim exceeds such limits, it is the dog owner who will be responsible for remaining charges. But do your homework. Some insurance companies will not insure homeowners who own certain breeds of dogs that are viewed as more dangerous, including pit bulls. DIY Projects Gone Awry Some home improvement projects are best left to the professionals. Whether its replacing kitchen appliances or expanding structures on your property, watching instructional YouTube videos and then tackling the project yourself isnt always the best approach, said ORourke. Many losses associated with such projects are covered, said ORourke. But he suggests checking with your insurance company before embarking on any planned remodeling to be sure the coverage is adequate. Injured Guests If a houseguest is injured while visiting, your homeowners insurance may provide coverage. The coverage applies even if you were not the one at fault for the injury, said Christi Houser, an agency manager for Country Financial in Clackamas, Oregon. For example, if the insured is hosting a slumber party and the kids get rambunctious resulting in a fall off the bed and a broken arm, the homeowners insurance policy may pay for expenses related to that injury with no deductible, Houser explained. Most polices come with a minimal limit, but more can always be purchased. The homeowner should reach out to their agent to determine how much coverage they have and consider increasing it, especially if they have children, pets, or invite guests over often. Additional Living Expenses This little-known category involves expenses incurred should you have to vacate your home for some reason. Additional living expenses pays the extra cost of a place to live if your home becomes uninhabitable due to a covered claim, said Houser. This coverage generally includes the extra cost of other living expenses such as eating out at restaurants or having laundry done, which you would not have incurred had you not had the covered loss, Houser explained. Items in a Storage Unit The next time you sign up to rent a storage unit, dont buy the insurance policy they often try to sell you to make extra money each month. Your home insurance has you covered, says Kirby McClanahan, agency manager for Country Financial in Seattle. Many people might not realize that their personal property in a storage unit has coverage from a homeowners policy, said McClanahan A lot of storage units like to sell extra insurance for contents in the storage unit, but personal property at a storage unit is typically covered as if it was in your home. Objects Falling from the Sky One last item worth noting: While its highly unlikely that a meteorite, defunct satellite, or other piece of space debris will come hurtling into your home any time soon, your insurance policy will indeed cover the damage if it does, said ORourke.
