“Why can’t I just pretend to be anything else?”
“I don’t have a state police ID for you, and they won’t just let some random civilian in on the investigation.”
"Dean, I don't think they're going to believe this."
"What? Why wouldn't they?"
"I don't exactly look like a police dog," I huffed, hardly believing that he had faith in this plan. "No one is going to believe that an off-duty cop and his 'wolf-dog' – who, by the way, is bigger than a Great Dane – are here to investigate the sudden disappearance of his cousin, who just so happens to be related to a known murderer that you look exactly like." I inhaled heavily, having said it all in one breath. Dean raised an eyebrow at this, a light smirk on his features.
"A little positivity wouldn’t hurt!" he exclaimed with a cheesy grin my way. He threw the car door open and stepped into the bright morning sunlight. I sputtered and he made his way around the Impala to the passenger's side door, opening it for me. With a small glare, I jumped out of the car and landed lightly on my paws. I straightened myself and shook out my fur to bask in the warm light.
"See? You're not that wolfish, this'll work like a charm!" I did my very best to glare up at Dean, the top of my head even with his chest. "Don't give me that look."
I huffed and turned away from him, making my way toward the police station. He followed, keeping up with my lanky strides.
"Maybe you should wag your tail for a better effect," he said. I snapped my furred head to his and pulled back pink gums to reveal deadly fangs. "I'll take that as a no." He said with a chuckle.
The waiting room of the police station was rather small, with only a few couches, a small coffee table, a TV showing the local weather, and a tall, fake plant standing in the corner. I surveyed the rooms, earning strange glances from the bustling officers and lawyers migrating up and down the hall.
Dean was sweet-talking the receptionist and she was soaking it up like a sponge, twirling a piece of ginger hair in her fingers. Finally, he flashed his stolen badge at her and her blue eyes widened.
"What can I do for you, sir?" she asked and moved away from her computer monitor to give him her full attention.
"No need to call me sir, sweetheart. I'm off duty, I just need to speak to one of your officers." He flashed her his winning smile. I nudged my head against his thigh, an indication to skip the flirting. He pushed my head away with his hand.
"Well, what are you here for Mr. Washington? I'm sure I can find someone willing to help you," she batted her eyelashes at him. I had enough of this and leaned up to place my head on the counter, standing nearly on the tips of my toes. She squeaked and I flattened my ears against my skull.
"Sorry miss, this is my police dog," he said, glaring at me. I kept my eyes trained on the receptionist. "She goes with me pretty much everywhere, even when I'm off duty." I huffed, my hot breath fanning her face. She scrunched her nose in distaste and turned back to Dean. "We're here about a missing person. I was having a few drinks with my cousin last night, and he's gone missing now."
"Oh, that's horrible," she said, puckering her lips at Dean and lowering her lashes. Before she could open her wide mouth again, I jumped, placing my two forepaws on the counter. She jumped and glared at me. "Bad dog. Shoo," she said, gesturing for me to hop down. I glared at her and she faced Dean once more, rather uneasy. "You're in luck, Mr. Washington. The Deputy who handles most of our missing person's cases is in today. Go straight down the hallway to your right, it's the third door on the left."
Dean thanked her and shot me a quick glare, to which I replied with a dramatic wag of my tail. He rolled his eyes and made his way down the hallway. We stopped at a door with the name 'Deputy Kathleen Hudak' printed on the front in gold letters. Dean and I looked at each other once more before he pushed the door open for me and I sauntered in.
The deputy looked rather shocked to see a legitimate wolf walk into her office, nearly spilling her coffee on herself. She looked visibly confused as Dean introduced himself.
"Uh… what can I do for you, Officer Washington?" Hudak asked.
"I'm working on a missing persons case. You see, my cousin and I were having a few drinks at the bar last night, the one down by the highway." She raised an eyebrow at Dean and he disregarded it, continuing with his mostly true story. "He left a few minutes before me, we were going to drive back together. He disappeared though, haven't seen him since."
Hudak pondered this for a moment before speaking. "How drunk was he?"
Dean chuckled. "Sammy? He could take two shots and pass out." He made a motion with his hand, much like an airplane crash. Kathleen looked unamused.
"I'm sure he's fine Mr. Washington, he'll probably wake up in a bush soon and give you a call. I don't think you need to worry." She moved to return to her computer screen, but I stopped her with a light growl. She frowned at me and then turned to Dean with a scowl on her face. "You know, I've never heard of the state police being allowed to have wolf-dogs as their K-9 companions."
"She is pretty special," he said, giving me an affectionate pat on the head. "Very well trained. I swear, sometimes I wonder if she thinks like a human." He flashed her a reassuring smile.
She paused once again before speaking. "Alright, Gregory," she started, using his ID's first name. "If we're going to find your cousin, we need to do it properly-" she reached for a piece of paper beside the copy machine behind her. "- So I'm going to have to ask you to fill out a missing persons report so we can make a case out of it."
"Officer," Dean interjected, his tone serious. Hudak turned back to face him. "This county seems to have a lot of missing cases. How many of those people actually come back?"
The two stared each other down and my eyes flitted back and forth between them. Finally, Hudak gave in. "What did you say your cousin's name was?" she asked, seating herself in front of her computer and pulling up a registry. Dean beamed at her.
"Sam Winchester."
She typed the name in as I moved to sit beside her. She spared me an uneasy glance before continuing. "So you're aware that his brother, Dean, was suspected of murder and died in St. Louis a few months ago?" At this, I rolled my eyes and tucked my head down, hiding my all too human gaze from the officer. I held my breath, waiting for the moment she pulled up Dean’s record out of curiosity and we were busted.
"Yeah, Dean. Kind of the black sheep of the family. Handsome though," his chuckle soon turned into one of discomfort as the officer and I looked unamused by him. "I think I'm seeing double," he said nervously. Kathleen and I turned to face each other, twin frowns on our faces.
She exhaled slowly, taking in the image of Sam's face on the screen. "I'll head to the County Works Department, see what I can dig up."
"I saw an old set of cameras outside the bar. Maybe one of those saw what grabbed my brother." Deputy Hudak still looked unconvinced. "Mind if I tag along, officer? I promise you won't even know I'm there." She glared suspiciously at Dean and then at me. I wagged my tail at her for good measure.
—
I had never ridden in the back of a sheriff's car before, and I have to say I never want to do it again. Hudak had left me in the car, windows rolled down a bit, while Dean waited for her outside. She came out not long after with a stack of paperwork in her hands. I pricked my ears, straining to listen to their conversation. All I gathered was that they had an idea as to the perpetrator's truck based on a new-looking license plate and the 'whining-growl' of an engine.
It was hot in there, even with the windows open, and dark. I wasn't fond of it. The only good thing about it was that there was room to stretch out in my furred form. Dean's car had little room to stretch out as a human, and he certainly wouldn't allow me to get fur all over his car.
I huffed and laid my head on my paws as they made their way back to the car. As soon as Dean sat down and shut the door behind him I was immediately upright and leaning my chin on the back of his seat. The Deputy's car rumbled as she started it and crept forward like some hulking beast. I dropped my head on the center console and stared out the front window. Dean’s fingertips wound into my fur and scratched my ears. I glared from the corner of my eye.
“She’s a good girl,” Kathleen said with a warm smile.
“Sure is,” Dean answered, giving me a few dramatic pats. I made a sound low in the back of my throat and pulled away from him. He was going to get an earful later.
"That string of traffic cams only goes 50 miles down the road," Kathleen began, as she turned onto the highway. "I lost the truck at the end of the cameras, so they've got to have taken a back road 50 miles or more down the road."
Dean grunted in response. "They've probably got a lot of private roads in this area huh?" Kathleen hummed in response and the car fell silent once more, with Dean trying to strike up the occasionally odd conversation and Kathleen shooting him down.
I eventually closed my eyes, listening to the roar of the car engine and enjoying the feeling of Dean's fingers running through my fur. My eyes snapped open upon hearing a loud beep from the monitor in front of the center console.
She turned the monitor towards her, reading what it had to say before locking her eyes back on the road. I sat up and shifted behind her to look at the screen. I whined softly.
Shit.
"So Gregory," she began. I paced on the seat nervously, thinking about my options. "I ran your badge number. Turns out, it was stolen not too long ago." I whined again and Dean looked helplessly between me and the cop. "Look. It even had a picture of you." She turned the monitor to face Dean, showing her a picture of a much larger black man.
Dean chuckled nervously, looking between her and the monitor as she slowly pulled over. "I lost some weight-" he started. "- And I got that Michael Jackson skin thing done-"
"OK," Kathleen interjected. "I'm going to need you to step out of the car."
Dean protested and they argued back and forth while I paced. I couldn't attack her, what if I accidentally bit her or maimed her? And if I did we'd be in even more trouble. What was I supposed to do, sit on her and hope she suffocated in my fur?
"Kathleen," he began, a tone mixed with danger and pleading. "Look into my eyes and tell me I'm not lying about this." I whined, having missed the majority of their argument in my own frantic state. Her eyes flitted between mine and his. Dean's were stern, full of confidence.
"You've given me no choice, I have to take you in," she said quietly.
"You can take me in after we find Sam. He's my responsibility. I have to at least make sure he's alright." Was he that stupid, willingly turning himself in? So blindly faithful?
The two stared each other down for the longest time, neither backing down. Finally, she dropped her gaze and muttered an 'OK'. "After we find Sam Winchester."
I whined loudly, dropping my head back onto the back of her seat. She chuckled and pointed a finger at me. "And you, I knew you weren't a police dog. You've got to be at least 87% wolf, there is no way they'd allow you to be part of the canine unit." I cast Dean a knowing look.
I had never hated a car ride more in my entire life. The tension in the air was almost palpable, I felt like I was choking on it. The only thing that kept me grounded in that swirling sea of emotions was searching out the scent of cherries amongst the scent of anger. I hoped to God that I would never have to be in a situation like that again, but with the Winchesters it was unlikely.
"Wait, wait, pull over here!" Dean suddenly exclaimed, pointing out the window to his right. I lifted my shaggy head and searched for what he was pointing at, seeing a not well-managed road. Kathleen pulled the car over as Dean had asked and hopped out of the car before it had even stopped. I moved to jump into the front seat and follow him, but Kathleen held an arm out, blocking me. She quietly told me to stay put and I growled in response. There wasn't much I could do to oppose her without giving myself away.
"This is the first turn-off I've seen so far," I heard Dean say through the car door. It was hard to hear, but not impossible. My nose was practically flattened against the glass as I watched the pair make their way down the worn road.
"You stay here, I'll check it out," she told Dean. He looked at her like she was crazy.
"No way," Dean answered.
"Hey!" she hissed, stopping and facing him. "You're a civilian, and a felon, I think. I'm not taking you with me."
Dean glanced down the road, obviously mulling over his options. I knew he wouldn't fight her unless he really had to, but nothing was going to get between him and Sam.
"You're not going without me," he answered, shaking his head at her. Hudak sighed in frustration, looking once more at the car. We locked eyes and I barked at her, scratching at the glass. It was so irritating, knowing I had the capabilities to be helpful, but just couldn't in this situation. Stupid, stupid, stupid, I knew we shouldn't have gone with this plan.
"Alright," Kathleen started again. "You promise you won't get involved? That you'll let me handle it?"
Dean nodded vigorously. "Yeah, I promise." I huffed, my breath steaming the glass. Even I wasn't convinced by that.
"Shake on it."
Oh God, don't do that-
It was too late, the handcuffs were already clasped onto his wrist. Dean swore as she dragged him to the Driver's side door and fastened him to the handle, locking the door behind her. "Kathleen!" he called after her. "I really think you're going to need my help."
"I'll manage," she retorted. I growled and scraped once more at the door as she walked away from the car. Dean peered through the window at me, tipping his head as a sign that I should get out. I felt my bones snap and rearrange as I shifted back in my seat, shaking out my hair and readjusting my own clothes.
I looked out the passenger side window, waiting for her to disappear out of sight before opening the door and quickly locking it behind me so as to stop its incessant beeping.
"She took the keys with her," Dean said hurriedly, struggling with the cuffs.
"I know, I saw." I marched around the car and towards the worn path.
"Where are you going!?" Dean called after me, panic in his voice.
"To find Sam!" I called back. "Someone has to make sure they don't get themselves killed, and you'll figure out some way to get out."
"What if she comes back and sees you're not in the car?"
"Stall!" I said as I ran forward and jumped into my furred form, running down the beaten path. I ran after her, by now she must be far ahead of me. I had to catch up, or else she would have no backup.
I skidded to a halt as a dirty old wooden house came into view, not unlike the one where I had met Marcus and Caeden. This house screamed 'hillbilly' like no other I had seen.
On the front porch stood Deputy Hudak, talking to a ragged-looking little girl, whose hair was matted and dirty. I could practically smell the scent of filth on her from here. She was very clearly human. I ducked behind a clump of trees and surveyed the yard, seeing multiple odd buildings, like makeshift barns. One stood out to me as the dim sunlight, hooded by clouds, reflected off heavy steel doors. It clicked that that must be where they were holding Sam.
I moved to take a step forward towards Sam's location, only to hear a loud crash from the front porch. Shocked, I realized another human had attacked Deputy Hudak, a heavy shovel in his hands and scowl on his inbred face.
He snarled something at the little girl and she went off around the house. Not even moments later, two more, who looked like brothers, walked around the house and headed down the road back towards Hudak's car, her keys in hand.
My mind was reeling at this point. I knew I had three options – save Hudak, find Sam, or return to Dean and help him before the hillbillies got there. None of the options were good ones, as doing one would only compromise the others.
I was thoroughly screwed.
I didn't have time to panic, but I couldn't help but watch in horror as the oldest hillbilly took Deputy Hudak, throwing her over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes and carrying her to the barn where I presumed they were holding Sam. They couldn't kill her yet, I knew that – if a cop was able to find them, then they would have to ask her if there were more on the way.
I snapped my head to the left, down the road where the two brothers were sauntering towards Hudak's car, laughing as they went. If they found Dean there, they'd surely kill him, or worse, and he was in no position to find them.
Before I had realized it I had made up my mind and was racing through the marshy woods towards the Deputy's car. Kathleen would be alright for now – if my hunch was right, she would have Sam. But Dean needed help now.
I didn't even bother with trying to be quiet. I thundered through the woods, breaking twigs and crunching leaves under my heavy, padded feet. My ears were flattened against my skull and I stretched myself to my full length, each stride covering an incredible amount of distance. The burning in my muscles was one I had come to enjoy, but I didn't have time to revel in it now.
In no time at all the car was coming into view. I had passed the brothers, but that still only gave me a limited window of time. As soon as my paws hit the gravel pavement surrounding the car I leapt into the air. Using the hood of the car as a springboard I lept once more and shifted midair, landing on my two feet and skidding, nearly falling.
Dean looked utterly shocked to see me. He was splayed out against the side of the car, reaching for the little antennae on the end. My still golden eyes settled on it and I raced towards it, unscrewing it hastily and handing it to Dean.
"We need to get out of here," I told him harshly. "Now," I snarled as he still stood dumbfounded. He jumped into action, eyes still wide with shock. While he worked to discard any trace of us being there, removing my own paw prints and the imprint of Dean and Hudak's shoes in the mud.
Finally, the handcuffs dropped to the ground and I quickly picked them up. Before Dean could utter a single word I took his wrist in my hand and dragged him behind me into the woods. We ran, Dean confused but willing to comply, our feet softly hitting the ground, us being careful not to make too much noise. It was only when Dean heard the guffawing and laughter of the brothers that he realized.
He opened his mouth to say something, turning to me with wide eyes. His expression turned from one of worry to one of shock when I pressed a finger to my lips.
We didn't say a word as we traveled silently through the woods. It wasn't until the main house was in sight that I took off at a dead sprint, Dean hot on my heels. I skidded to a halt in front of the barn doors and Dean nearly barreled into me. I helped him right himself, our faces close together.
"They're in here," I whispered, tapping the metal. He gulped, searching my still golden eyes. I realized they hadn't returned to their normal color, due to the stress of the situation. I was struggling to keep my fur from bursting out.
I was terrified of what we would find behind that door. I was terrified of the people that had taken Sam and Kathleen. I was terrified because never in my life had I experienced something like this. Before meeting the Winchesters I had been in only a few fights, none of them major like Chikaltio's. I was not prepared for this new lifestyle of having to fight to survive in a world that now knew of my existence. I was not prepared to have people rely on me, to call me their leader or their friend.
I was so scared that I was going to lose two people that I had begun to call my friends, my family, and that there was nothing I could do about that. That's why my eyes stayed that molten gold color, and I think Dean understood that.
Before I knew what was happening Dean was pushing the heavy metal door open, revealing a dark, open room. It smelled of sweat and dirt, making my nose crinkle in disgust. Light filtered in and illuminated the large room, and in the dim lighting I could see two large, metal cages and figures concealed within them.
"Sam?" Dean whispered and stalked into the barn with me to his back. I turned away from the cages, watching the entrance to make sure no one was going to sneak up on us.
"Dean? Is that you?" I heard Sam's voice from behind me. I struggled to pinpoint his scent, thoroughly unable to. It was as if the sound was detached from his body like he wasn't really there. I couldn't sense him, feel him in the room and that alone made my hackles rise. The scent of blood and death and grime was far too overwhelming.
After many hushed whispers, Dean had successfully deduced the workings of the cages. "These are going to be a bitch," he muttered to no one in particular. Sam chuckles, a sound that brought a smile to my lips after the stress of the last twenty-four hours.
"So, what was it, Sammy? What managed to grab you?" Dean asked quietly, fiddling with the mechanism that locked the cages. maybe he could unlock it without the key.
Sam chuckled again, leaning against the bars of the cage. "Dean, they're just people."
Dean stopped his fiddling and turned to his brother with wide eyes. "And you let them get the jump on you?" he scoffed playfully and shook his head before turning to me. "I'm not going to be able to unlock it like this. I have to find the key. Stay here, see if you can get them out," he whispered to me, placing a rough hand on my shoulder. "And if any of those wackos get in here, I don't care what you have to do, keep them away from Sam and Hudak until I get back." His tone was low and filled to the brim with hatred for the monsters that had taken his brother.
I nodded, holding his steely gaze with an equally ferocious one. He nodded back to me and took a step towards the door. Without thinking, I reached out and grabbed his hand as it slid from my shoulder, halting him in his tracks. "Be careful," I whispered. "I don't want to have to come rescue your ass."
He smirked and turned once more towards the door, disappearing into the gloomy, mid-day light.
"You know Sam, maybe we should put your brother in one of these after this. He might get a little less annoying after being cooped up in here," I teased in an attempt to lighten the mood as I reached for the bars of his enclosure.
Sam barked out a laugh. "I doubt it. He'd get whiny real quick." My grin only widened.
"We're going to get you out of here soon," I said, turning my golden gaze onto Kathleen. "Both of you." I strode towards her makeshift prison and met her suspicious glare. "Hi, Kathleen."
She frowned at me. "Who the hell are you? Did you let him out of those cuffs?" I heard Sam snort behind me, struggling to hide his laughter.
"You handcuffed Dean?" Sam asked, his half-hearted smothering of his laughter failing miserably.
"Course I did. I had already guessed that he was a felon after I realized he wasn't who he said he was," she snapped back. "I just want to know who the hell you are and how you found us here. Did you follow us? Are you one of them?"
I scoffed. "Lady, I've been with you the whole time. You pet me multiple times. Do you really not recognize me?" I stood up and spread my arms wide, resisting the strong urge to say 'ta-da'. Her eyes widened as it dawned on her just what I was suggesting.
"No fucking way."
"Yeah, fucking way," I said, a characteristic wolfish grin rising on my features. I sat back on the floor across from her. "I'm really sorry you got caught up in this. This isn't our usual thing, typically it's ghosts and stuff."
Sam started uttering my name with a warning tone. I knew he didn't like it when humans were told about what goes bump in the night. I silenced him with a glare.
"She's going to learn soon enough, Sam. Besides, she’ll arrest us otherwise.” Sam fell silent, an unhappy glare on his face. I sighed and turned back to Kathleen who looked like a deer caught in the headlights. "I'm really sorry you had to find out like this – I'm sorry you had to find out at all. But monsters are real. Those inbred assholes out there aren't like me though. They're just pieces of shit.”
We sat and talked, the three of us, and it felt almost normal. I nearly forgot about the iron bars separating us and just did my best to explain things to Kathleen; the Winchester's lives, my life, and all the dark things that really were hiding under her bed as a little girl. I did regret having to tell her, but it was better this way. I knew I was going to bash some heads sooner or later and I'd rather her be prepared than die from shock. I flinched at every passing sound outside the bar, fear and anxiety rising amongst all three of us. What was taking so long?
A rustling from outside the dim barn caught my attention. "Shit," I whispered, realizing what it was. Footsteps. I lunged to the side, hiding amongst the shadows as the door to the barn flew open and in walked one of the inbred cannibals.
I resisted the urge to snarl, realizing that if he was here, Dean was most likely caught- or worse. The man pulled a set of keys from his pocket and went to the control panel without saying a word, a shotgun slung over his shoulder. He turned the key, pressed a button, and strode over to Sam's cage before the door had even unlatched.
Sam glanced in my direction, worry adorning his features. His intense gaze flitted around his cage before landing on a small object by his foot, which he promptly grabbed. I half stood, prepared to throw myself into the fray. In the blink of an eye the man's gun went off and Sam was launching himself at the hillbilly, a growl of absolute rage leaving his lips. The two tussled on the floor, Sam beating the living daylights out of him. Finally, he snatched the gun from the man and hit him in the side of the head with it.
"Lee!" I heard the older man distantly scream for his son, likely wondering what was taking him so long. He called out for his son a few more times before everything went silent. I stood from my place in the corner and made my way to Sam, avoiding the downed hillbilly.
"Sam, get Kathleen out of there. I'll keep watch." Sam nodded and I shifted, once more shaking out my fur. I heard a gasp from Kathleen as if she only now believed what I had told her.
I licked my lips, my tongue running over the harsh points of my fangs. It wasn't long before Sam got the cage door open, just in time for us to hear the pounding of feet outside. We scattered as silently as possible. I watched as Sam disappeared around a corner and Kathleen climbed a hayloft. I hid behind an old crate, scraping along on my furred belly to stay hidden.
The heavy door flew open and my ears pricked, golden eyes watching the deranged father and son duo sweep through the main room, shotguns held high. I pulled my gums back and silently snarled, following them through the rooms.
I heard shots go off and stalked towards the noise, fangs bared and ears flattened against my skull. I heard a scream, like a war cry and I lunged into the room to find Kathleen wrapped around the only remaining son, squeezing his throat until I thought his eyes would pop out of his skull. I ducked as he waved his gun wildly.
Kathleen went flying, landing roughly on her back. The man screamed, aiming his gun toward her. I snarled and slammed into him, pushing her away from him. The gun went off, blasting a hole in the wall behind Kathleen. She stood and I pushed off the man, using him as a springboard and landing at her feet, skidding in the hay.
"Hey!" I heard Sam shout, catching the man's attention. He swung his shotgun towards Sam, who ducked at the last moment and fired. The bullet made contact with the soft flesh of his father's shoulder.
Sam rushed forward while the man was stunned and delivered a hefty punch. The man dropped his gun and swung back with all his might. Sam fell, knocked over by the force of the punch.
No, no, no, not Sam. I lunged at the man, sinking my teeth into his dirt-covered arm and tearing at the muscle. He screamed, and the sound brought me satisfaction. My fangs sunk into his shoulder and he screamed louder this time. I ground my teeth into his shoulder, crushing the bone in my jaws. I could feel it crumble as blood gushed into my mouth. Anything to keep him off Sam, off my friend.
I could feel him battering my sides, his screams falling on deaf ears and his fists feeling like flies against my skin. I couldn't hear anything but his screams. I tasted something metallic on my tongue.
Oh.
I roared and tore at the man's other shoulder. My top fangs sunk deeply into the dip of his collar bone, hooking underneath it. I ripped and tore until the bone came loose, taking the muscle with it. My claws curled into his soft flesh, my forepaws digging into the soft tissues of his upper arms. I felt blood gush between my toes. As soon as I felt it, I tore. I practically devoured his screams.
I vaguely heard someone screaming from behind me somewhere in the other room. A gun went off, but I paid no mind. I thought I heard Sam calling out to someone, but my mind was elsewhere.
I sunk my teeth back into his chest, my teeth coming in contact with his ribs. I pulled, satisfied at the cracking I heard. My muzzle was drenched in blood, but I didn't care. I just wanted him gone.
I wasn't sure when I tore out his lungs, but I know I did. They lay in a bloody heap beside me, along with a string of his organs that I had rooted through. He wouldn't be alive much longer. Something told me I had to make the most of it.
It was then that my eyes settled on his heart, faintly beating, but still doing its best to keep him alive. My world tilted and suddenly I felt like I was falling.
I heard screams, screams I remembered well.
Why are you afraid? I didn't mean to…
What did I do wrong? Are you crying?
Why are you bleeding?
I breathed heavily, my eyes befalling his heart once more. I swallowed, trying to hold back the wave of saliva and the pangs of hunger that consumed me. I bared my fangs, my nose practically pressed to his weakly beating organ at this point.
My ears were ringing. I couldn't hear. I could barely see. But I could taste. I could smell.
Don't do it.
My ears pricked at the whisper. I snarled and bared my fangs once more, huffing, my own heart squeezing, and my sides convulsing in hunger.
I wanted to vomit. What was I doing? I shook my head, trying to shake away the feelings of red, the wrath and fear I felt. I was warring with myself, mixing two worlds together.
What are you doing?
I don't know. Am I hurting you?
No.
Are you sure? What about now?
That hurts... What are you doing? Stop! STOP IT HURTS!
STOP.
STOP.
STOP.
"Stop!" I heard a familiar scream from beside me. I snarled, my teeth fixed around the man's no longer beating heart. I turned my fiery gaze to my verbal assailant, only to lock my molten eyes on a pair of candy apple green ones.
Dean held my gaze, his own filled with fear. A look I had hoped I would never have directed towards me again. My eyes widened at the sudden realization of what I had done.
The red faded. I removed my teeth from that man's heart with a whine, blood slipping down my jaws. I stumbled backward, tripping over my own feet and drunk with blood lust. Dean reached towards me, and I snarled at his hand, the red returning at the edges of my vision.
Don't touch me. I don't want to hurt you too. I tried to scream, but it only came out as a piercing howl. My panicked eyes fell on what I had done. What had I done?
My fur rippled and my bones snapped, changing shape without my consent. My whine really did turn into a scream, a bloodcurdling scream full of anguish and fear. I didn't have the control over my forms that I once had. My clothes ripped as they appeared in patches across my skin, emerging from beneath my skin as my fur receded.
I sobbed, choking on blood and wrapping my own blood-stained arms around me. I felt numb. Afraid. I spat onto the straw-covered floor.
Suddenly, a pair of warm arms were wrapped around me, a jacket being draped around my shoulders. Once more, I couldn't see. My tears betrayed me, blurring everything around me.. I couldn't see. I couldn't hear.
But I could smell. Blood. Death. Fear.
Cherries.

Police dogs are often portrayed as harmless, loveable members of the local police. But many departments across the country use dogs as weapons, training the animals to bite thousands of people every year, causing serious and even fatal injuries.
A new investigation from The Marshall Project, AL.com, IndyStar and the Invisible Institute exposes the widespread use—and abuse—of dogs in police departments across the U.S.
Here are six takeaways from our findings, based on data from departments across the country, thousands of pages of documents, videos and scores of interviews with victims, police officers and experts. The main article based on the investigation contains more information. We will publish more reporting in the coming weeks.
People are bitten across the country, but some cities use biting dogs far more often than others. There’s no national database of police dog use and who is bitten. Our reporting found bites in nearly every state, though data from more than 50 police departments shows the numbers vary widely by city. Police in Chicago almost never deploy dogs for arrests and had only one incident from 2017 to 2019. Washington, D.C., had five. Seattle had 23. New York City, where policy limits their use mostly to felony cases, reported 25. By contrast, Indianapolis had more than 220 bites and Los Angeles reported more than 200 bites or dog-related injuries. The Sheriff’s Department in Jacksonville, Florida, had 160 in this period.
Bites can cause life-altering injuries, even death. Dogs used in arrests are bred and trained to have a bite strong enough to punch through sheet metal. Their bites can be more like shark attacks, according to experts and medical researchers. When they are used on people, they can leave harrowing scars, torn muscles and dangerous infections. A woman’s scalp was torn in California; a man’s vocal cords were damaged in Colorado; an Arizona man’s face was ripped off. Occasionally, someone dies after an encounter with a police dog. Most recently, a 51-year-old handyman bled to death after being bitten by a police dog in Montgomery, Alabama, in 2018.
Many people bitten were not violent and were suspected of minor crimes—or no crime at all. While many police agencies say they use dogs only to capture people accused of violent crimes or when officers are in danger, our review of bites around the country found the dogs are frequently used in minor cases: traffic violations, shoplifting, mental health checks, trespassing and running from police.
Police officers sometimes can’t control the dogs, worsening injuries. Even when dogs are trained to release their bites with a verbal command, they sometimes don’t let go. While training experts say bites should last seconds, we found numerous cases that lasted minutes as handlers struggled to pull off the dogs. Some experts said that makes injuries worse, tearing flesh as the dogs are pulled away.
There’s little accountability or compensation for many bite victims. Excessive force lawsuits over dog bites are difficult to win. Police officers are often shielded from liability, and federal civil rights laws don’t typically cover bystanders who are bitten by mistake. It can also be hard for someone who pleads guilty or gets convicted of resisting arrest, or a similar crime, to file a lawsuit. Even when victims can bring cases, lawyers say they struggle because jurors tend to love police dogs.
Read the main article. In addition, our reporters will continue publishing stories from this investigation in the coming weeks, including the story of a Washington, D.C., woman who went for a walk, then encountered a police dog; an examination of the police department with the worst dog-bite rate among the nation’s 20-largest city agencies; and an examination of police dog use in Alabama and the state’s most dangerous K-9 unit.
Correction: An earlier version said a Maryland woman was bit while on a walk. She lives in Washington, D.C.

Hermit Craft Rising AU: Characters & Organizations
In the event that any characters that have names corresponding to a real-life individual, it is a coincidence. No real-life resemblance is intended.
An asterisk (*) denotes minor characters.
ConCorp Security Consulting, Inc.
CCSC is a PMC (private military company) based in Seattle, Washington founded by Coulson Frasier and Garrett Timothy-Williams Sr. It is dedicated to providing security, peacekeeping, and self-defense protection forces to its clients - mainly the first and third areas.
Solomon “Impulse” Vanderbilt
“It was amazing, that’s why I did it.”
A former criminal defense lawyer moonlighting as a vigilante turned private mercenary for ConCorp Security Consulting with a little too much mental baggage from his days as the former. Solomon underwent voluntary cyborg conversion at a somewhat minimal level during the events of Hermit Craft: Civil War. During the events of Rising, his internal augmentations became more extensive, although outwardly, he remains normal-looking and almost indistinguishable from unaltered humans. Aside from the usual suite of superhuman powers granted by cybernetic enhancements (enhanced speed and agility, senses, strength, durability, endurance, etc.), Solomon can also attack blindingly fast for short periods and can channel short-range electrical arcs over a few meters if given a power source to draw from. These abilities gave him the nickname "Impulse," which subsequently stuck.
Perhaps a little too friendly and easygoing for his own good - although not a passive nor naive individual, as he’s been burned (literally and figuratively) more than once before by his enemies. He tends to get hung up on his past mistakes, especially the "mac-n'-cheese incident." Carries a far nastier alternate persona known as "Eyesore" that re-emerges during the story, although he brings it under control by the time of the Joebraltar Incident.
Age: 38
Hometown: Flagstaff, Arizona, USA
Signature weapon: A pair of 8-foot collapsible quarterstaves. These are composed of carbon steel, reinforced via ultra-high-frequency resonant vibration modules that counteract the effects of other similar weapons. Later trades the quarterstaves out for a single teal-colored anodized niobium-plated carbon steel blade with improved resonant technology.
Samantha Miller
“What are you doing, love?”
Supervisor and data analyst for CCSC. Brash, endearing, and never one to turn down offering her opinion, Samantha acts as Impulse’s mission control and a (candidly outspoken) voice of reason. Has a tendency to describe things as “gorgeous” whether or not others would actually describe them as such. Almost never seen without her custom pink embroidered CCSC jacket and an iced tea on her desk - she keeps her team in good spirits with her contagious laughter.
Age: 32
Hometown: St. Andrews, UK
Garrett “Scar” Timothy-Williams Sr.
“You all are in cahoots with each other!”
Former CEO of ScarX, Garrett left the company to found CCSC after the events of Turf War along with Coulson Frasier to “solve the world’s problems.” Good-natured with a whimsical streak; very well-endowed financially thanks to his tycoon past. He tends to bite off more than he can chew with his scatterbrained daydreaming, so Coulson often needs to bring him back to reality. While in principle CCSC’s top dog, he often defers to Coulson for matters that don’t require his creative input… which is most of them. Became wheelchair-bound in the last decade due to late onset of an unspecified neuromuscular disease affecting his lower body; he elected not to undergo cyborging operations, believing it “not his destiny.”
Age: 47
Hometown: Seattle, Washington, USA
Coulson Frasier
“We may never financially recover from this.”
An associate of Garrett from their time at ScarX and co-founder of CCSC, and another member of Impulse’s support team. Easygoing on the surface, extremely dedicated to his work - sometimes to the point where he’ll forget to eat. An everyman to Garrett’s grandiose plans. Fulfills the role of de facto leader of the support team and final decision-maker of CCSC itself, as Garrett is otherwise often occupied running things on the backend. Down-to-earth, and humble despite his accomplishments - which included spearheading some of ScarX’s greatest space projects.
Age: 44
Hometown: Chicago, Illinois, USA
Karl Doc M” Manfred
“Dude, I don’t like to do anything.”
Known as “Doctor M” or “Doc M” for short, this gentleman is nothing short of a crazy mad scientist - the good kind, mind you. The good Docm is an expert in partial and full-body cyborg conversions, in part thanks to extensive experimentation on himself, including an incident whereupon his remaining organic skin took on a slightly green tint. Retains an unusually high degree of organic material despite his extensive conversions. Loves innovating and tinkering around with new technologies, and was responsible for the invention of key modules in early arcane cyborg integration. A veritable polymath, he has degrees in four different kinds of social sciences and physical sciences - each. Spends a lot of time doing stuff so that he doesn’t have to do stuff. Gruff on the surface, but real fluffy and lovable underneath.
Age: 58
Hometown: Neubrandenburg, Germany
Zachary Dalton*
Dr. Manfred’s somewhat kooky and eccentric assistant, who takes over in the doctor’s stead when he is unavailable. Responsible for many impractical and whimsical gadgets that make their way into CCSC’s arsenal - some more effective than others.
ScarX Space & Aeronautics
A private space technology company founded by Garrett Timothy-Williams Sr. that develops and tests experimental aircraft for the Canadian government. Their offices are headquartered in Vancouver, but their main base of operations is located on Bell Island, a few hours from St. Johns.
Bob Woodstock*
Edgar Sledge*
Vincent Benilli*
Felicity’s bosses, and associates of Garrett who work at ScarX. Not much is disclosed about them during the course of the story from Impulse’s perspective other than this.
Felicity Sylvia*
A friend of Impulse and 17-year-old teenage prodigy who works for ScarX. She assists him in reaching the Strait of Joebraltar to put a stop to the plans of Architech Worldwide.
Jake Ingram*
Xander B. Cardea*
Hector Tillden*
Three CCSC staff members who dispense additional intra-mission details to Impulse throughout the course of the story.
Other Affiliants
Skye Miller
“What’s up, homeh buddeh?”
A MooPop employee (specifically, a lower-level manager not privy to secret operations) who Impulse encountered during the raid on the research facility/factory. Somewhat self-critical of himself but quick to make friends. The type of person to light up a room just by being in it - somehow, he always manages to give everyone a good chuckle. He joined CCSC after the raid incident, which resulted in the facility’s destruction and Skye’s partial cyborging due to injuries sustained in the escape. At CCSC, he becomes a vital source of positive morale for Impulse and his team, as well as providing a grounded perspective of sorts.
Age: 44
Hometown: Dead Dog Gulch, Arizona, USA
Joseph Hilbert*
CEO of MooPop, a Swedish multinational food and drink company. Never seen in the course of the story, but is known to be highly eccentric. The Strait of Joebraltar is not named for him and is totally not a convenient hook-in for story purposes.
Hermit Craft
These unmanned mobile weapons platforms are so-called because of the earliest models’ tendency to be encased in transport shells of varying design. This drastic variation in transport shells called to mind the myriad types of shelters that hermit crabs adopt for protection, leaving their identity undisclosed until the very last moment. These days, the shells aren’t used due to an increasing size trend amongst these war machines; they possess varying levels of potency, but all carry copious amounts of firepower.
HC CAPRICORN
A quadruped, unmanned Hermit Craft that somewhat outwardly resembles a goat due to the sensor “horns” and overall caprine-like body plan. Armed with cluster missiles, short-range anti-personnel blinding lasers, Gatling guns, and rocket bombs. Unnervingly nimble, it also conducts ramming attacks with the sensor horns - which are also its weak spot when they get stuck in something. Capable of aquatic traversal, although not encountered in such a situation during the story of Rising. The original design was the brainchild of Dr. Manfred before he shelved it, thinking its design was unviable - it never went past the blueprint stage, and a scaled-down version at that. Somehow, these plans made their way to Sahara, who more than finished the job…
HC OCTAGON
A gigantic, octopodal octagon-shaped weapons platform developed by Architech Worldwide that far outscales any other Hermit Craft. Equipped with a lightning-storm generator, feet with gigantic retractable blades, and railgun cannons. Designed to completely bulldoze and level densely packed buildings (such as industrial complexes or urban zones,) OCTAGON was created with the express purpose of countering other Hermit Craft in combat by any means necessary short of a thermobaric nuclear bomb. Initially designed as an unmanned HC, the final iteration required a pilot. Capable of tunneling, but rather slow at doing so.
Sahara Enforcement, LLC (The Terraformers)
An Ontario, Canada-based PMC led by the Terraformers, a group of infamous (mostly) cyborg mercenaries who work for Architech Worldwide under the table. They provide services to corporations on the “black market,” so to speak, as well as other shady and unscrupulous organizations. Most, if not all under their employ are morally questionable, if not also mentally so.
William “Ramapo” Knox
“You’re very close. In my bubble.”
Knox is the heavy hitter of the Terraformers. In his civilian life, he was a paralegal, but he enlisted during the Civil War - which ended up being a very transformative decision. Having lost his legs below the thighs due to an anti-personnel landmine, this war veteran is able to hook into a custom gigantic mech frame wielding an oversized bident, although he retains the ability to use standard-issue prosthetic legs. Formerly friendly, gregarious and approachable, the trauma induced from the accident turned him into a loner, stoic and depressive. Strangely, being in a constant state of violent conflict seems to be the only thing that satisfies him nowadays, hence his affiliation with Sahara. Now a man of few words, he lets the steel do the talking. He really likes his personal space. His codename is named after a fault line that runs through the eastern United States, including New Jersey, where he lived right before the Civil War.
Age: 46
Hometown: Mineral Point, Wisconsin, USA
Signature weapon: HK-55 Mk. 7 “Hell’s Knight” exo-frame: A 5-meter, slightly weathered and rusted black, red, and gold mech that bears a suspicious resemblance to the NACHTREIHER/E from Armored Core VI, Knox’s body is attached in a cockpit located where the head might be on the mech’s torso. Wields a massive, similarly-colored rocket bident-lance made of unknown material that again, bears a suspicious resemblance to Varatha, the Eternal Spear from Hades - albeit with a jagged, lightning motif. This bident can be charged for devastating electrical attacks and launched like a missile.
Zoe “Moine” Carter
“I’ll break your legs.”
Nanotechnologist and bodybuilder by day and professional assassin by night, Zoe was recruited by Sahara as a cornerstone to their operations. Has a dry sense of humor and wry sarcasm, punctuated by a very matter-of-fact demeanor. Their vitiligo condition has led to some comparing their appearance to that of a reanimated corpse, a description that they have taken and run with. They are often at odds with the other Terraformers, but as dysfunctional as this team is, they are their de facto leader and keep them in line. Zoe herself has no cyborg enhancements herself, surprisingly enough - it's all in the gadgets. Their code name comes from the Moine Thrust Belt in northern Scotland.
Age: Late 40s
Hometown: Ipswitch, UK
Signature weapon: A small army of “Dioramic” biomorphic serpentine drones, each about a meter in length and coming in all sorts of different colors. Each can be equipped with a variety of arcane nanotech-based tools only limited by Zoe’s imagination - sometimes to degrees that would make Inspector Gadget proud. Two or three Dioramics can form into an extended polearm - functioning as either a bladed weapon or a long-range projectile weapon - or both, depending on the specialization of the Dioramics. Up to half a dozen individual Dioramics can also attach to a pack on Zoe’s back to form extra manipulative limbs.
Grant “Glen” Collins
“You see, I’ve got this weird brain condition called stupidity…”
With more than a few screws loose, this British biologist turned mercenary sows chaos wherever he goes. One of the founders of Architech Worldwide with Oliver Bancroft and Iyod Samuelsson, rumors are that an unfortunate accident involving an industrial potato sorting machine (the details of which are unspecified, but rumors persist he pushed a button he shouldn’t have) made him a double amputee from the thighs down. Other rumors suggest he underwent the operation to become a cyborg voluntarily. Either way, he used the company’s funds to provide himself with lightweight cyborg legs with localized electromagnetic field generators, enabling him to disconnect them at will and control them independently of his body with great finesse, augmenting his already quick reflexes to superhuman levels. (His arms, though, remain entirely organic.)
This local control of electromagnetism actually extends to being able to manipulate and levitate objects around him, both nonmagnetic and magnetic, although it puts a massive drain on his energy reserves if he manipulates anything other than his body and darts. A winged propulsion pack he wears on his torso allows his main body a high degree of maneuverability equivalent to that of his limbs, making him a menace in the air.
Seemingly unhinged, thrill-seeking and what some might call a gremlin, Grant never turns down an opportunity to show off his flying and combat prowess. He often rushes in without taking time to ponder things, but beneath that adrenaline rush is a sharp, decisive, and calculatingly clever wit - it's very difficult to catch this adaptable Terraformer off guard, for he quite literally thinks on the fly (and in flight.) He arguably would also be the most likable of them - that is, if he wasn't working for the wrong side and if his priorities were better placed. His code name originates from a fault line in northern Scotland.
Age: 36
Hometown: Bexley, UK
Signature weapon: A set of (at least) ten “Parakeet” iridescent spearhead-shaped “darts” that are magento-telekinetically controlled. The overall shape is that of a throwing dart, but the tip somewhat resembles a bird’s beak. The tail, however, is notched like that of an arrow and has tiny wings resembling that of a scarlet macaw’s. Made of an extremely dense, unspecified material - CCSC suspects it to be a kind of tungsten carbide or depleted uranium core. At the speeds at which he wields them, they can easily pierce lightly-armored vehicles and are quite the anti-personnel deterrent.
Tango “Hurricane” Travis
“Hahahaha, flee with extra flee!”
A former LARPer whose (ambiguous) ambitions became a reality when he had installed into his body cyborg augmentations, including hard-light projection implants that allow him to shrug off most small arms and physical attacks easily. He calls himself the “Dungeon Master.” Extremely animated but also prone to making funny noises. It’s not always clear why he’s in charge of the Terraformers, to begin with, but in battle, it becomes pretty evident the “crazy man” persona is less of a facade and just who he is: not out for (just) the money, but for the thrill of it all.
Despite his ferocity, he is strangely oblivious to things that are right in front of him (both figuratively and literally) and easily distracted. This isn’t helped by the fact that he has another odd tendency: wearing bunny slippers in public, even in combat. Rumors swirl among Sahara personnel that he has an entire closet of them back at base, because they keep wearing out after every mission. His code name comes from a large fault line that runs through the southwestern USA, including into Arizona.
Age: Late 40s (est. 47-49)
Hometown: Phoenix, Arizona, USA
Signature weapon: Elongated “Deepfrost” high-frequency steel machetes with miniaturized LN2 cooling systems (“Freezificators”) that keep them at -80 degrees Celsius. This low temperature freezes most objects on contact, making them more susceptible to being shattered into bits when the two blades are combined into a pincer-blade setup.
“Scarlet” Pearl Maynard
“Something wicked this way comes…”
A skilled Australian swordswoman with an ornate prosthetic arm (she was born without a right arm and has what is actually more or less a shoulder stump), she only contracts with Sahara because she’s short on work otherwise. She doesn’t entirely agree with their M.O. but begrudgingly goes along with it despite the moral conflict. Coming from a long line of martial arts fighters, outside of combat she likes to paint, and would be a patron of the arts if she were more financially stable. Has an unusual obsession with pickles. Despite appearances, she is not entirely mentally stable - many a field report have noted she enters a feral, witchlike state when sufficiently provoked, especially emotionally. Her codename is unique, not being named after a tectonic feature like the rest of the Terraformers - instead, it was named after her aforementioned alter ego, “Scarlet.” This replaced her original codename - “Darling.”
Age: 34
Hometown: Newcastle, Australia
Signature weapon: Double-ended “HF Lifeline” glaive that can split and convert into a pair of war scythes. Damascus steel-like blades are further enhanced by ultra-high-frequency resonant vibration modules that dramatically increase their cutting ability.
RD-82g, the "Cyberdog"
“Greetings, warmbloods. I’m off to sharpen my bones now.”
RD-82g, later known as the Cyberdog, is a quadrupedal, canine-like autonomous robot with a highly advanced, nearly free-thinking AI only restrained by the programming locks of Sahara. During its trial phase, it developed an unusual flair for dramatic theatrics and frequent philosophical tendencies but remained no less lethal in its intended purpose as a hyper-intelligent combat prototype. Despite repeated testing, it proved to lack much desire for actual combat with living beings despite its potential for such: instead of hurling rocket grenades, it preferred to hurl insults and exchange dramatically aggressive banter with its targets, much to Travis’s chagrin. He re-assigned it to the other Terraformers instead, who mistreated the Cyberdog with threats of memory wipes and activation of receptors that simulated pain (the latter of which did not actually exist in its systems.)
In the events of Rising, Impulse encountered it in the breakaway state of Perimeter and defeated it in combat. Finding its vocalizations amusing, though, he salvaged what was left of the Cyberdog and had ConCorp release its programming locks. After its acquisition and being rebuilt by ConCorp, it finally had the chance to exercise true free will and banter without fear of repercussions, although much of what it theatrically vocalizes remains vaguely threatening despite its intentions.
Age: 3 (since construction)
Hometown: N/A, but constructed at an undisclosed facility in Canada
Signature weapon: A retractable whip-pickaxe made of classified material, prominently showcasing a shimmering resonant blade. Reports have noted that it can split a semitrailer clean in two.
Architech Worldwide, Inc.
A (nominally) private military company founded by Grant Collins, Oliver Bancroft, and Iyod Samuelsson, and the largest in the world - with offices or facilities in 35 countries. It is the de facto government of the city of St. John’s (in this universe, a city roughly 6-7 times larger in population than it is in real life) due to the civil government being stripped of its power by MP Taylor Gemma and the police forces of the city being subcontracted out to Architech Worldwide. They are a leader in arcane cyborging technology and also possess a near-monopoly on the supply of said technology. Strangely, they also have a substantial presence in the canned soup industry, sand mining industry, and an extensive online retail marketplace specializing in consumer electronics.
Taylor “Gemstrong” Gemma
“How am I supposed to ‘live, laugh, love’ in these conditions?”
MP in the House of Commons for Newfoundland & Labrador and a candidate for the PM election of 2022. She was the benefactor for Architech Worldwide and its de facto CEO. Under the table, she was also allied with the Terraformers of Sahara Enforcement, LLC. Motivated by avarice (specifically, for soup and arcane power) more than anything, even over political power.
Sarcastic and witty, her outwardly bubbly, cordial, and peppy nature is often underestimated by her opponents - notwithstanding belying her inscrutable soup-obsessed agenda. Despite her relatively young age, She is a well-trained and more than proficient combatant, imbued with macro-organic enhancements that increase her strength and durability to superhuman levels.
Age: 41
Hometown: St. Johns, NL, Canada
Signature weapon: Macroorganics. The name is a misnomer - it is arcane nanotechnology with an organic basis. Aside from incredible regenerative abilities, it grants her the ability to reconfigure portions (if not the whole) of her body into extremely dense organic “supermaterials.” For instance, she is known to prefer an inexplicably tough wooden bark-textured medium that a regular HF blade cannot penetrate, supplanted by inhumanly rapid counter-growth and regeneration effects that repel incoming serrations. Aside from partial to full-body regeneration (via pulling matter from her surroundings and reconfiguring it on the atomic level via nanotechnology,) inherent to her nanotechnology are also super-strength (enough strength to hurl a 650-ton fully-loaded cargo jet with ease over a few hundred feet) and the aforementioned extreme durability.
Oliver “Mumble” Bancroft*
Iyod Samuelsson*
The co-founders of Architech Worldwide, along with Grant Collins. Not much is disclosed about them over the course of the story as they went missing years ago.
What is known: Oliver got his nickname from his constant muttering about things not being “quite simple, really” whenever this nervous wreck of a man was faced with a befuddling situation. He disappeared while filming an advertisement for Architech Worldwide in the Canadian boreal wilderness by himself.
Iyod, on the other hand, was credited with bringing the first ocular cybernetics to the consumer market, but was forced to resign from Architech Worldwide after several scandalous workplace affairs were uncovered. Speculation suggests he changed his identity after the subsequent public fallout.
Kenneth Lobart*
A Polish expatriate living in Sweden and the CFO for Architech Worldwide. The only remaining top figure of the company post-Rising, he facilitated its absorption into MooPop.
Others
Xavier Vogel*
A radicalist leading forces in the breakaway state of Perimeter.
Travis Fourier-Calvert*
Director of an unspecified African corporation way past the usual retirement age.

The tiny pink house was pretty much empty. And run-down and dark, since the electricity had been shut off. Nevertheless, someone was trying to burglarize it, a caller told 911 well after midnight on a Sunday in Montgomery, Alabama.
The police called in a K-9 handler and his dog, Niko, to search 3809 Cresta Circle. The dog lunged, found a man and bit down, according to court records. It took almost two minutes for the handler to pull the dog off. And before long, their suspect, a 51-year-old Black man, bled to death. The dog had torn an artery in his groin.
The man was Joseph Lee Pettaway, and his family says he was no burglar. He got in trouble for bad checks and served time years ago, but was now taking care of his 87-year-old mother, Lizzie Mae, and helping to repair the pink house in her neighborhood, they said; he had a key and permission to sleep there.
Joseph Pettaway’s sister, Jacqueline, comforts their mother, Lizzie Mae Pettaway. Joseph died in July of 2018 in Montgomery, Alabama, after being bitten by a police dog.Joe Songer/AL.com
The family is suing the city, seeking damages and information about what happened. “I never thought a dog would end up killing anybody, especially a trained dog,” said Walter Pettaway, Joe’s brother. The family also wants public release of the police bodycam video from July 8, 2018, that is described in court documents.
The city is fighting to keep the video from going public, arguing in court that it would cause “annoyance, embarrassment” for officers who were acting in good faith and could end up “facilitating civil unrest.” Officials did not respond to requests for comment.
Police dog bites are rarely fatal. But in other ways, the case of Joseph Pettaway is not unusual. These dogs, whose jaws and teeth are strong enough to punch through sheet metal, often produce severe injuries. Police employ them not only in emergencies, but also for low-level, non-violent incidents. The dogs bite thousands of Americans each year, including innocent bystanders, police officers, even their own handlers. And there is little oversight, nationally or in the states, of how police departments use them.
These are some of the findings of an investigation by The Marshall Project, with AL.com, IndyStar and the Invisible Institute in Chicago. We obtained dog-bite data from police departments around the country, including the agencies in the 20 largest U.S. cities. Our reporters also examined more than 140 serious cases nationwide, and reviewed thousands of pages of documents, including excessive force lawsuits, department policies, arrest reports and medical studies. We looked at scores of videos of police dog bites. We spoke with victims and their lawyers, law enforcement officials, former and current trainers and other experts.
Here’s more of what we found:
Though our data shows dog bites in nearly every state, some cities use biting dogs far more often than others. Police in Chicago almost never deploy dogs for arrests and had only one incident from 2017 to 2019. Washington had five. Seattle had 23. New York City, where policy limits their use mostly to felony cases, reported 25. By contrast, Indianapolis had more than 220 bites, and Los Angeles reported more than 200 bites or dog-related injuries, while Phoenix had 169. The Sheriff’s Department in Jacksonville, Florida, had 160 bites in this period.
Police dog bites can be more like shark attacks than nips from a family pet, according to experts and medical researchers. A dog chewed on an Indiana man’s neck for 30 seconds, puncturing his trachea and slicing his carotid artery. A dog ripped off an Arizona man’s face. A police dog in California took off a man’s testicle. Dog bites cause more hospital visits than any other use of force by police, according to a 2008 academic analysis of 30 departments.
Many people bitten were unarmed, accused of non-violent crimes or weren't suspects at all. Court records show cases often start as minor incidents—a problem with a license plate, a claim of public urination, a man looking for a lost cat. Although some departments, like Seattle, Oakland, California, and St. Paul, Minnesota, now have strict criteria about when dogs can bite, many continue to give officers wide discretion.
Some dogs won’t stop biting and must be pulled off by a handler, worsening injuries. Although training experts said dogs should release a person after a verbal command, we found dozens of cases where handlers had to yank dogs off, hit them on the head, choke them or use shock collars.
Men are the most common targets of police dog bites—and studies suggest that in some places, victims have been disproportionately Black. Investigations into the police department in Ferguson, Missouri, and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department have both found that dogs bit non-White people almost exclusively. Police dog bites sent roughly 3,600 Americans to emergency rooms every year from 2005 to 2013, according to a recent study published in the Journal of Forensic and Legal Medicine; almost all were male, and Black men were overrepresented.
For many bite victims, there’s little accountability or compensation. Federal civil rights laws don’t typically cover innocent bystanders. In many parts of the country, criminal suspects can’t bring federal claims if they plead guilty or are convicted of a crime related to the biting incident. And even when victims can bring cases, lawyers say they struggle because jurors tend to love police dogs—something they call the Lassie effect.
Police dogs have a highly charged history in the United States, especially in the South, where they were used against enslaved people and, in the 1960s, civil rights protesters.
How Dogs Were Used as Weapons in North America’s History
French colonizers used hundreds of hounds against enslaved people who rebelled during the Haitian Revolution (1791-1804), according to Tyler Parry, assistant professor of African American and African Diaspora Studies at the University of Nevada, and Charlton W. Yingling, Assistant Professor at University of Louisville. An 1805 engraving shows trained bloodhounds attacking a Black Haitian family. Archive Photos/Getty Images
During the Second Seminole War (1835-1842), the United States military used Cuban bloodhounds to force the Seminole Indians from central Florida to west of the Mississippi River, as seen in an 1848 lithograph. MPI/Getty Images
An 1864 engraving by Van Ingen & Snyder depicts an enslaved man protecting his family from bloodhounds. Dogs were used to hunt enslaved people of African descent in the U.S. who had attempted to escape as early as 1790, according to Dr. Parry and Dr. Yingling. AF Fotografie/Alamy

But police departments that use dogs said the K-9s are essential tools for finding fleeing suspects, and for searching dark, narrow spaces for hidden dangers. That makes them crucial for officer safety.
Not every suspect who runs or hides or is not complying with commands will try to injure an officer, said Deputy Chief Josh Barker of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. But, he said, "In a lot of the instances, we're using that K-9 as a tool because we simply don't know.”
When police use dogs properly, injuries should be minor and require little treatment, handlers, trainers and experts said. The dogs are trained to create puncture wounds, but little else. The wounds should not involve tearing flesh, and the bite shouldn’t last long—seconds, not minutes.
The dogs are “not taught to rip, they’re not taught to tear, they’re not taught to maim,” said Kenneth Licklider, who has been training and selling police dogs for decades. Licklider owns Vohne Liche Kennels in Indiana, which supplies dogs and trains their handlers.

And with training and supervision, the dogs bite only a fraction of the times they are used, officials said. That’s a hard statement to prove, because few departments keep standardized data. Many of those that responded to our requests for records did not provide information on deployments, and when they did it was incomplete and inconsistent.
As a spokesman for the Jacksonville sheriff noted, “With policies varying among agencies, the number of engagements cannot be accurately compared.”
But some attorneys said the law should treat police dogs as lethal weapons. “I'd put being attacked by a dog just below being shot,” said Hank Sherrod, who has represented dog bite victims in Alabama.
Law enforcement agencies employ about 15,000 dogs for everything from finding lost children to sniffing out drugs, according to the U.S. Police Canine Association, a professional group. But no countrywide database tracks police dogs, the number of bites or who is bitten. There are no national requirements for dog handlers.
Handling dogs is more art than science, some in the business say. “The handler’s personality will go right down that leash,” said Ernie Burwell, a former canine handler for the Los Angeles County Sheriff who now testifies as an expert witness in excessive force cases. “If the handler’s an idiot, the dog will be, too.”
The lack of regulation worries some experts.
“It’s just sort of the Wild West when it comes to these dogs,” said Christy Lopez, a professor at the Georgetown University Law Center who previously focused on policing and civil rights at the U.S. Department of Justice. She recalled speaking to a young Black teenager in Ferguson, Missouri, who’d been curled up in a closet when a police dog gnawed on his arm.
“In Ferguson, I realized this was not a thing that needed to be reformed,” Lopez said. “It was a thing that needed to end.”
The Police Executive Research Forum, a prominent law enforcement think tank, recently called for clearer national standards to ensure all agencies have protocols for canine use.
Police officers said they are already careful about using dogs.
“A dog bite, it’s a violent encounter,” said Patrick McKean, trainer for the Mobile Police Department in Alabama. “The dog’s hurting somebody. We’re not going to just do that just for any little reason.”
Trainers say bites are worse when people don’t follow orders—when they try to run or fight back. But many videos we reviewed show people screaming in terror or flailing around, even as the handler yells at them to stop.
“It’s really hard for someone not to move when they’re bitten, and the more they move, the more they’re bitten,” said Ann Schiavone, a law professor at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh who is an expert in animal law.
Take the case of Patrick Gibbons, a White 47-year-old who sells golf supplies. On May 5, 2019, he flagged down a golf-cart taxi in the Old Town district in Scottsdale, Arizona. After Gibbons demanded that the driver go faster and even tried to push the accelerator himself, the driver got out. Gibbons took off (at 15 mph) in the cart. The driver called 911, telling the dispatcher Gibbons was unarmed but drunk.

A swarm of patrol cars responded while Gibbons, wearing shorts and flip flops, laughed and gave police the finger. After they punctured the cart’s tires to stop it, Gibbons put his hands up. Then, an officer released the patrol dog, police video shows.
For almost two minutes, the dog chewed on Gibbons’ back and side. Police said Gibbons was “flinging the K-9 from side to side,” according to an internal affairs report, and they fired non-lethal weapons at him.
“I couldn’t move without feeling some sort of pain,” Gibbons said. “There’s still stiffness. Now I just tell people I was attacked by a shark.”
Gibbons received a $100,000 settlement from the city for his injuries, but said he’s dissatisfied that criminal and internal investigations cleared officers of any wrongdoing. Gibbons said he took a plea deal for driving while intoxicated and stealing the golf cart, spending 36 days in jail and five months on home arrest.

A Scottsdale police spokesman said officers received the call as a reported carjacking and believed they were responding to a violent felony. He said Gibbons also refused police demands to stop the golf cart. If officers realized the true situation, their response would have been “wholly and completely different,” said Sgt. Brian Reynolds.
“We’re not out just siccing dogs on people just because they’re drunk,” he said. “Absolutely not.”
Some of the most serious injuries happen when handlers struggle to make dogs let go.
In Sonoma County, California, sheriff’s deputies responded to a caller who claimed a man had a gun. They used a Taser on Jason Anglero-Wyrick, a 35-year-old Black man. After he was on the ground, video shows, they set a dog on him—and had a hard time getting it to stop attacking. Anglero-Wyrick ended up with a fist-sized hole in his calf, his lawyer said, and spent weeks in the hospital. He did not have a weapon.
Anglero-Wyrick’s family put a video of the incident on YouTube, his lawyer said, because they wanted the public to see what happened.

“If that video hadn’t been posted, nobody would know about Jason’s case,” said his lawyer, Izaak Schwaiger.
A Sonoma County sheriff’s spokeswoman said the case is still under internal investigation and referred a reporter to a video of the incident posted to the agency’s Facebook page.
Even when they have suffered terrible injuries, people bitten by police dogs can find it very hard to collect damages. Take Deborah Hooper, a White woman who used to work as an accountant. According to court records, on May 9, 2006, a security guard at a drugstore in the San Diego suburbs caught her stealing a nail file and a couple of lipsticks. A sheriff’s deputy issued her a citation for petty theft, then took her to the parking lot and searched her car.
The deputy said he found a drug scale and what looked like methamphetamine, and tried to arrest her. As they struggled, the deputy pushed a special button on his belt, releasing his German Shepherd, court records show. The dog latched onto Hooper’s head, ripping off large chunks of her scalp and biting down to her skull.
Fourteen years later, Hooper is still undergoing surgeries. Doctors grafted skin from her thigh onto her head. They filled water balloons and stuck them under her remaining scalp to stretch the skin. She said she became a hermit and has been diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder.
She is also still in court, reliving the incident over and over again. She had to battle to get the right to sue for excessive use of force in federal court because she had pleaded guilty to resisting arrest; an appeals court eventually ruled in her favor. Her second trip to federal court ended with a hung jury.
This spring, she was back in court again, in a third trial that also ended in a hung jury. “The dog was just ripping my head back and forth,” she told jurors in San Diego. “There was blood everywhere.”
The Sheriff’s Office and the deputy said she lunged for his gun, which she denied. At the most recent trial in March, Melissa Holmes, the lawyer who represents the agency, said the officer “did what he had to do to protect himself and to protect the public.”
A spokesman for San Diego County did not respond to a request for comment.
A fourth trial was scheduled for this month but has been postponed.

One hurdle for people seeking redress is qualified immunity, which in most cases shields government employees, including police, from liability when they are doing their jobs. In its last term, the U.S. Supreme Court declined to take up a legal challenge to the doctrine in a lawsuit over a police dog bite. A Tennessee man, Alexander Baxter, had sued alleging that local police used a dog after he had surrendered with his hands in the air.
Outside of the courtroom, some communities are pushing for change.
Elected officials in Spokane have proposed making it harder for the police to use dogs after bodycam footage from last year showed an officer shoving a dog through a truck window and watching it chew on a man inside as he screamed. Police leaders concluded the officer acted within department policy.
“It seemed like the officers essentially used the dog to punish him,” said Breean Beggs, a civil rights lawyer and president of the Spokane City Council. “If that's policy, then there is something wrong with the policy."
The department did not respond to requests for comment.

In Salt Lake City, officials suspended the canine unit after a video showed police releasing a dog on a Black man, even though he was on his knees, hands in the air. In a rare move, prosecutors filed criminal charges of second-degree aggravated assault against the dog handler.
On Sept. 25, the city said that a review found a “pattern of abuse of power” when police used dogs, and moved to examine earlier incidents.
The Salt Lake City Police Department said in a statement that it is taking the criminal charges and a report by the Civilian Review Board into account as it works on its internal investigation.
Change is also underway in Walnut Creek, California, after officers released a dog on a demonstrator at a recent Black Lives Matter protest.
When marchers snarled highway traffic, a SWAT team released canisters of tear gas. Joseph Malott, a Black architecture student who joined the June 1 protest in his hometown, said he picked up one canister and tossed it away—in the direction of the cops.

Then he was face-down on the pavement. A police dog’s teeth sliced through his T-shirt and sank into his back, tearing his flesh and poking holes through his skin. He felt chewing on his leg and hand.
“It felt like I was being eaten,” Malott said recently. “They literally had to pull the dog off me.”
Public outcry about police actions at the protest prompted city leaders to promise that law enforcement wouldn’t use dogs at future demonstrations.
Charges against Malott were dropped, and he no longer needs crutches or a cane. But he still has physical and mental scars, he said. “It’s stuff that will be with me for the rest of my life.”

Chapter Fifteen: Strangers Again
Notes:
hello everyone!! I hope you've had a lovely week :D
the title from this chapter comes from the song Strange by Celeste!
I'm going on holiday next week, so no new chapter, but I should be back after that!
Sneak peek:
Until now, Peter had done his best to avoid the hundreds of articles, thousands of social media posts, and a handful of conspiracy theories about what happened in London. But now that the public opinion of Spider-Man could affect the lives of hundreds of people like him, he starts looking.
Other than the few MJ shared on the school's rooftop to make him laugh, the internet paints him as the villain in his own tragedy; a power hungry, sub-human monster that destroys monuments for fun and killed Mysterio for his own gain.
So, Daredevil is right. The government wants to use him as a reason to go after other vigilantes. And, in turn, Mr. Murdock was also right — the only solution is to fix the way the public sees him.
"Whatcha looking at?" MJ asks, nudging his arm. "You look like someone just ran over your dog."
Peter locks his phone and shoves it in his back pocket. MJ raises an eyebrow, but the door to the cafe opens before either of them can say anything else.
"Hi," Ned says, ambling over to his usual seat and tossing his backpack on the floor. "No Craig today?"
MJ glances at Peter, narrowing her eyes, before turning to Ned. "He has an appointment with his divorce lawyer," she says. Peter's glad his wife is leaving him, but he's more glad that he won't be there to bother them for an afternoon.
"I didn't know lawyers worked on a Saturday," Ned says.
MJ shrugs. "Crime never sleeps."
She grabs a jelly donut for Ned and slides it to him, leaning on the counter. He smiles back at her and takes a bite, covering his face in powdered icing.
Even though they both used to be his friends, Peter feels like he's intruding on a private moment. All of their old inside jokes and shared experience is gone now, and he's left feeling like a third wheel in a friendship he used to be the center of.
"So, Peter," MJ asks, her voice poison-sweet. "What were you looking at on your phone?"
"And how's your hand?" Ned adds, his voice muffled by the donut in his mouth.
He should've known she wouldn't drop his weird behaviour. "All fixed," Peter says, holding up his hand to show Ned. "And I was looking at the new vigilante laws they want to pass."
MJ nods, the corners of her mouth turning up in pleasant surprise. "I heard about that. The government is desperate for control after the Sokovia Accords fell through."
Ned holds up a hand to get their attention. "Did I miss a big announcement, or...?"
MJ picks up a cloth and starts wiping the kitchen surfaces. "They want to crack down on enhanced individuals who are acting outside the law," she explains. "If they commit an act of 'vigilantism', they get arrested and their identity publically revealed."
After everything Peter has done to hide his identity, he can't let it happen again. At least this time, if everyone finds out he's Spider-Man, no one else will be affected.
Ned frowns. "But that's not fair! They're superheroes."
"As soon as you're on the list, you don't count as human anymore," Peter adds. "No more human rights, so they can treat you however they want."
Ned looks down at his donut, frowning. "That's terrible."
MJ hums in agreement, dipping her cloth in the washing up bowl. "I was thinking of organising a protest."
Peter's head snaps towards her. "What?"
"They're putting these laws into place because of what happened with Spider-Man and Mysterio," she says. "But Spider-Man has saved our life a few times, so I feel like we owe him something in return."
Peter swallows. He wasn't sure if they'd remember that. "You've met Spider-Man?"
"He saved our class while we were on a school trip in DC. The elevator in the Washington Monument fell, and he caught it."
"He also saved us in London!" Ned adds. "Mysterio's drones were coming after us. I saw him get attacked by them, so he couldn't have been in control like the news says!"
MJ frowns. "That was also on a school trip."
"He's my favourite superhero," Ned continues, beaming. "He got me a Christmas present, too, so we're basically best friends."
Oh, if only Ned knew how true that used to be.
"What was the gift?" MJ asks, pausing her cleaning to scrutinise Ned's reaction.
"A Lego Star Wars set."
He was never supposed to find out where the present came from. "How do you know it's from Spider-Man?"
"He gave it to my neighbour and she dropped it off," he explains. "Lydia is also a huge fan, so she totally freaked out."
MJ tosses her cloth into the sink. "Did it have Iron Man wrapping paper?"
Ned frowns. "How did you know that?"
"I think I also got one," she says, rubbing her temple. "Someone left a present on my windowsill, but I'm on the tenth floor. I had no idea how it got there."
Ned whips his phone out of his jacket pocket, his eyes growing wide with excitement. "I'll text Betty to see whether it was our whole class, or if we're just Spider-Man's favourites. This is so cool!"
MJ shakes her head. "I'm guessing you didn't have a vigilante-ridden Christmas?" she asks Peter.
He scratches the back of his neck. "Not unless you count the fact that Daredevil rescued my neighbours once."

1. Brazilian Joao Maria de Souza was killed in 2013 when a cow fell through his roof onto him as he slept.
2. Clement Vallandigham, a 19th century US lawyer, accidentally shot himself dead while defending a murder suspect – because he was trying to demonstrate that a supposed victim could have accidentally shot himself dead. (It worked, because his client was acquitted.)
3. Canadian lawyer Garry Hoy died while trying to prove that the glass in the windows of a 24th floor office was unbreakable, by throwing himself against it. It didn’t break – but it did pop out of its frame and he plunged to his death.
4. In 2007 the deputy mayor of Delhi, Surinder Singh Bajwa, died falling off a balcony while trying to fend off a troupe of attacking monkeys.
5. Monica Meyer, the mayor of Betterton, Maryland, died while checking her town’s sewage tanks – she fell in and drowned in 15 feet of human waste.
6. Sigurd the Mighty, a ninth-century Norse earl of Orkney, was killed by an enemy he had beheaded several hours earlier. He’d tied the man’s head to his horse’s saddle, but while riding home one of its protruding teeth grazed his leg. He died from the infection.
7. The owner of the company that makes Segways died in 2010 after accidentally driving his Segway off a cliff.

20. Mary Ward was a pioneering Irish female scientist who is sadly better known as the first person in history to ever be killed in a car accident – while driving with her family in their experimental “road locomotive steam engine”.
21. And the first pedestrian ever killed by a car was Bridget Driscoll of Croydon, London, in 1896.
22. Carl Wilhelm Scheele was a brilliant Swedish chemist who had an unwise habit of tasting all the chemicals he discovered. He died in 1786 as a result of his exposure to lead, hydrofluoric acid, arsenic and various other poisons.
23. Engineer Horace Lawson Hunley pioneered submarine design in the American Civil War – although most of them sank. He died when his final model, named after himself, sank while he was in command of it.
24. General John Sedgwick was killed by a sniper in the American Civil War shortly after uttering the words “They couldn’t hit an elephant at this distance.” (Contrary to popular belief, though, they weren’t his last words. They were his second-last. His last words were agreeing that dodging was in fact a good idea.)
25. Health fanatic Basil Brown managed to kill himself by drinking a gallon of carrot juice a day, in the belief it would make him healthy.
26. In 1992, Greg Austin Gingrich died in the Grand Canyon after jokingly pretending to fall to his death, then losing his footing and actually falling to his death.
27. Queen Sunanda Kumariratana of Siam (now Thailand) drowned in 1880 in full view of many of her subjects – because they were forbidden to touch her, so couldn’t rescue her.
28. The first people ever killed in an air accident were hot air balloon pioneers Jean-François Pilâtre de Rozier and Pierre Romain, in 1785.
29. And the first person ever killed in a powered aeroplane crash was Lieutenant Thomas Selfridge in 1908, in a plane piloted by Orville Wright.
30. An Irish woman died in 2008 after voluntarily having sex with a dog. The exact cause of death is unclear, although it was speculated that an allergic reaction to dogs might have been the cause.
31. Twenty-one people died in the Boston Molasses Disaster of 1919, when a massive tank of molasses burst on a warm day, sending a 25ft high wave of sweetener through the city at 35mph.
32. And eight people died in the London Beer Flood of 1814, when a giant vat at a brewery burst, sending over 3,500 barrels of beer pouring though the nearby streets.

BASIC IDEA/PLAN OF ATTACK/EXECUTION OR POSITIVE WORDS LIKE “LAUNCH”. We can issue an ATTACK or a LAUNCH CODE.
I will dumb it down a little bit. I am taking advantage of my position of power, now that I am a Celebrity in the World. Its the greatest feeling in the world, feels better than good sex and that is a hard thing for me to admit because I love some good, hot, sweaty sex and I’ve been going without for several weeks. I almost fell like a Nun because I cannot even pleasure myself because I was molested as a child by Lovie Price’s boyfriend “Frank Parker” a gasoline man from an early. I told Connie Price about it when I was 15 and her name at the time was Connie Dunford. It was the same day Brandie Ann Thompson said Curtis Triplett tried to rape her in the bathroom at the house In Frayser, Memphis TN. Brandie Ann in her hayday, resembled a youthful Cameron Diaz. Cameron Diaz dated Justin Timberlake once upon a time. She played in the move “The mask” and the mask was green. At the end of the movie, the dog put on the mask. You all know, when you wear that mask---you become a Shape Shifter, transforming into anything/anyone you think will grab the Hot or Not Rated #10 Woman’s ATTENTION/HEART/LOVE and will do anything, I mean anything to get it. The secret to my success is a compilation of everything good, bad, dirty, evil and let’s call it “The Struggle” or the “Human Experience”.
Old School (OS) Operating System (OS) Back to Basics (B2B) Brandie Thompson (BT) Barry Thompson (BT) Blue Tooth (BT) Brandie Smith (BS) Bull Shit (BS) Rent A Center (RAC) Roger Adren Crawford (RAC) $1K (RAK) Rags to Riches Richard Abernathy (RA) **secret boyfriend shh!!** Douche Bag (DB) or Douglas Belknap (DB) Thomas Jones (TJ) County Road (CR) Danny Thomas (DT) Deanna Thomas (DT) ... Trying to show you how I think period dot. In ya’ll are slow, period dot also equal two dots. You must have two dots to play connect the dots and draw the lines to illustrate inspiration into a masterpiece. The best pieces of Art are very old, have a solid reputation, and is properly curated to ensure it maintains its value for infinity times three.
Basically, you can get with my program, drink my Kool Aid, swallow your pride, do the right thing, if you have done something wrong, you really need to return to your basic religious beliefs what they may be, get right with yourself, because what you have done will come to light, exposed, we are moving on from there. We are, as a society going to change and deliver the children and the children’s children: a brighter future with more options, a limited amount of privacy, give them the world and see what they can accomplish with living in a world of positive vibes, beautiful colors, great music, entrepreneurship, dreams, and now, the little girls if we get married will truly believe in fairytales. This right here is whats up because we have an opportunity, once in a lifetime opportunity, to fix society, establish unity and peace, competition is good but everyone needs a chance to win sometimes to boost their confidence and pride. When there is monopoly or kingdom, it fosters the seven deadly sins, seven capital sins, and the seven cardinal sins, which is systemic to original sin.
Genesis clearly explains that certain things were created on certain days and back time was measured. You cannot just create a man or a woman. First, you need the Universe. Then, you need the Galaxy which creates Space. In Space, you have the moon, stars, sun, planets, black holes, asteroids, comets, shooting stars, orbit, gravitational pull. Here we are on planet Earth with 7 continents and 7 oceans. I like the number 8 because it represent a number, a symbol, and no limitations--infinity. My son was born on 3-8-03 weighing 8 pounds, 8 ounces and 19.5 inches long, color: BLUE, life: No sign of it. It took 10 minutes and PLEADING WITH THE LORD AT THE TOP OF MY LUNGS SCREAMING PRAYING TO PLEASE GIVE HIM LIFE, I DON’T WANT TO HAVE GONE THROUGH 35.5 HOURS OF LABOR AND 7 HOURS OF HARD PUSHING WITH NO PAIN MEDICINE, NO EPIDURAL, GAVE BIRTH TO A STILL BORN BABY NATURALLY AND THE GOOD LORD ANSWERED MY PRAYERS AND THAT BOY CRIED AND WENT TO THE NICU AT BETHESDA NAVAL HOSPITAL IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MARYLAND. ITS ALSO REFERRED TO AS “THE PRESIDENTS HOSPITAL”.
He is 17 years old, already a MASTERMIND and a Professional Gamer. He is so smart like me, that he had to design/build/code his own computer because there is not a computer on the planet that can keep up with his level of gaming. I saw a photo of it. Its a desktop computer with the case taken off the side--lit up with blue LED lights
It’s Confession Time and Holy Communion Time that means confess your sin, wrongdoing, break bread, eat bread, drink wine, not whine. No days off, no excuse, no immunity, no setups, no blame game, no liars, no stealing, checks and balances, no absolute power because absolute power fosters absolute corruption, which is why were in this position right now with COVID-19, Corona Virus.
I think one person needs a pardon because he has stayed on the job, even though he was originally lied to by the Feds. He deserves a pardon, record expunged, and an opportunity. I see great potential, just needs an opportunity, believe in himself, and have the courage to escape his own prison of gold diggers, groupies, fans, and whores.
In this triad, it is a rags to riches story times three. There is only 1 TRUE VERSION of ME, and its right here in Memphis TN, age: 41(Birth Cert).
To succeed in any sports game, you must be fit, educated, content with yourself to include your pros/cons/demons and knowledgeable & intelligent enough to know that I am certified True OG, I got your back no matter what because to me money ain’t a thing, fame fades just like stars, but loyal dogs do not turn on their master unless they are abused or hungry. I am a Blue AKC Royal Bloodline Pitbull, Staffordshire Terrier. Pitbull is the image you need to have in your mind when you think of ME.

BLUE, COME ON UNLESS YOU ARE “CHICKEN” “SCARED”
I PROMISE I WILL NOT BITE. BUT, I AM STARVING, LONELY, NEED MONEY TO CREATE AND LAUNCH MY DREAMS TO POSITIVELY AND EFFECTIVELY CHANGE THE WORLD WHICH WILL PLACE ME AND PRESIDENT TRUMP IN THE HISTORY BOOKDS. AND THE HISTORY BOOKS ARE GOING TO BECOME FACTBOOKS, AND HISTORY CLASSES WILL BE MANDATORY THROUGHOUT LIFE REGARDLESS OF AGE, POSITION, JOB, FINANCIAL STATUS BECAUSE THE BEST EDUCATION IS A “CONTINUOUS EDUCATION”. IF YOU DO NOT CONTINUE LEARNING, YOU BECOME RUSTY AND THEN, YOU CANNOT KEEP UP THE FAST PACED CHANGES OF ADVANCE TECHNOLOGY IN THE REAL WORLD AND IN THE REAL GAME OF LIFE.
RECOMMENDATIONS ARE AS FOLLOWS:
1. DONATE MONEY TO MY CAUSE ON CASH APP
$BLUEDOGBITEMAFIA888
DO NOT HACK MY PHONE OR MY LAPTOP, DO NOT HACK ANYTHING OR ANYBODY BC YOU CANNOT DO IT BETTER THAN U.S. BC U.S. CREATED THE INTERNET IN WASHINGTON DC AT THE PENTAGON CALLED “DARPANET” IN 1974. THE FIRST COMPUTER WAS AN APPLE, SECOND COMPUTER WAS MICROSOFT. A GOOD BRAND IS A HP WITH MS WINDOWS. I HAVE A BLUE HP LAPTOP STREAM, I HAVE A BLACK APPLE IPHONE 7. I AM ON A WIFI WITH A VPN THAT KEEPS GETTING DISABLED. THE SOUND ON MY PHONE DOES NOT WORK. I AM BACKING UP BOTH DEVICES AND GOING TO RESET TO FACTORY SETTINGS SO I CAN GURANTEE EFFECTIVE DIGITAL SECURITY.
2. I NEED COMPANY TO SIT WITH ME, DRINK WITH ME. I WOULD LOVE SOME JACK AND COKE OR A BUD LIGHT. I WOULD ALSO LOVE SOME FOOD THAT CONTAINS RED MEAT TO ASSIST ME WITH MY BLOOD PROBLEMS. BUDDY OR BLUE OR YO -- FIGURE IT AND SEND ME SOMEONE I KNOW. I AM TOO PRETTY AND TOO COOL TO BE CHILLING BY MYSELF WITH NO FOOD, NO ALCOHOL, NO MONEY, NO WEED, ETC.
3. SELF EVALUATE OR DO A PEER REVIEW/. SELF EVALUATION IS LOOKING AT YOURSELF IN THE MIRROR AND THINKING ABOUT YOUR LIFE. I LIKE TO WRITE THINGS DOWN, IF HELPS ME. IT WILL BRING ABOUT A SENSE OF UNDERSTANDING WHO, WHAT, WHY YOU ARE WHO YOU ARE, HOW YOU BECAME PERSON, AND DESIGN YOUR OWN ROADMAP TO BEING A BETTER PERSON AND OPENING YOUR HEART TO REALIZATION THAT THE CHILDREN ARE THE FUTURE, RIGHT WE ARE THE WORLD, WE CAN ACHIEVE GREATNESS, A NEW TYPE OF MAGIC “UTOPIA”.
WHAT ARE YOU ABOUT? WHAT DO YOU WANT OUT OF LIFE? ARE YOU HAPPY WITH YOURSELF? CAN YOU FREE YOUR MIND? CAN YOU OPEN YOUR HEARTS? CAN YOU COMMIT? DO YOU KNOW WHEN TO WALK AWAY? WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE IN? DO YOU HAVE CONFIDENCE? ARE YOU IN YOUR OWN PRISON--YOUR MIND, YOUR FEELINGS, YOUR RELATIONSHIP STATUS?
WISDOM COMES WITH TIME, EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, HARD WORK, SERVICE, LOYALTY, PURPOSE, AND TRAVELING.
At the end of the day, who do you want to be with?
Woman - Wise can deliver the world or drop the world, age 41 -- looks better than 20 & 30 year old GIRLS. Does not care about money, fame, status, power because the game was scheduled and unfortunately, unaware of the OP -- she walked, ran, sprinted STOLE the Flag, and won the game.
Everyone wants to still run their mouths, try to control a man, and those hos, have no power, position, fame, etc. They are with or around you because of who you are, what you have done, and what you can give them---in my opinion that is abuse of power and targeting someone to manipulating them to do what you want them to do.
I like structure, things to be done a certain way because I like cleanliness, organization, faith, love, hope, trust, and loyalty.
I would not cop an attitude with everyone, if I did not feel like the world was against me. Hint, hint -- I don’t trust authority figures because I was molested, abused, targeted, almost died several times, lied to, cheated on, setups, smear campaigns, gossiped about, bullied, beat on, yelled at, called names, jealous women everywhere so dumb they forget I have a hunger against Human Trafficking. People are on this RACISM BULL SHIT.
Its 2020, Racism = IGNORANCE AND IGNORANCE IS NOT BLISS ANYMORE, IGNORANCE IS DEADLY.
Basic belief system of Karma, it is a metaphysical/paranormal reality that is mixed with real, artificial, and soon-to-be virtual reality. It is what it is.
What you set your mind, what you do and the thoughts and actions you put into the world will either grant you your dreams or come back times three by the of karma, what goes around, comes around.
I want/will do good and be a good role model for everyone. I am going to teach, help you, do what I want, when I want, how I want because I know my worth, my value, and what I can GURANTEE/DELIVER.
Greed, jealousy, laziness, and all the ugly things that are in the world
WILL
get you no where but hungry, lonely but free, penniless, candy-less, eliminate sports.
COMMIT OR QUIT
MY MISSION WILL ENDURE AND CARRY ON UNTIL I FEEL MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. I DO NOT HAVE A FAILURE TO THRIVE AND I DO NOT LACK A WILL TO LIVE.
MY ISNT OVER, YET;

FIGHT LIKE A GIRL, a lucy karoonda mix.
𝒊 𝒂𝒎 𝒔𝒎𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒍𝒅 𝒊𝒔 𝒃𝒊𝒈, 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒊'𝒎 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒂𝒇𝒓𝒂𝒊𝒅 𝒐𝒇 𝒂𝒏𝒚𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈
( listen / download )
01. CLEMENTINE de washington ( i'm alright, i don't mind, i'm just running into something bigger than the something that i left behind. you are restless, very young, got a message from your mother, said to tell you she'll be coming round the mountain when she comes. )
02. TITANIUM de david guetta ft. sia ( you shout it out, but i can't hear a word you say. i'm criticized, but all your bullets ricochet. shoot me down, but i get up. raise your voice, sticks and stones may break my bones, i'm talking loud, not saying much. i'm bulletproof, nothing to lose. fire away, fire away. ricochet, you take your aim. fire away, fire away. you shoot me down, but i won't fall, i am titanium.
03. ONE GIRL REVOLUTION de superchick ( i wear a disguise, i'm just your average jane. the super doesn't stand for model, but that doesn't mean i'm plain. if all you see is how i look, you miss the superchick within. some people see the revolution but most only see the girl. i can lose my hard earned freedom if my fear defines my world. i declare my independence from the critics and their stones. i can find my revolution i can learn to stand alone. i'll be everything that i want to be, i am confidence in insecurity. i am a voice yet waiting to be heard. i'll shoot the shot, bang, that you hear round the world. and i'm a one girl revolution. )
04. WINGS de little mix ( don't let what they say keep you up at night, and if they give you shhhh... then they can walk on by. my feet, feet can't touch the ground and i can't hear a sound, but you just keep on running up your mouth yeah. walk, walk on over there, 'cause i'm too fly to care, oh yeah. your words don't mean a thing, i'm not listening, keep talking. don't let what they say keep you up at night, and they can't detain you 'cause wings are made to fly. and we don't let nobody bring us down. no matter what you say – it won't hurt me. don't matter if i fall from the sky, these wings are made to fly. )
05. NOBODY’S FOOL de avril lavigne ( fall back, take a look at me and you'll see i'm for real. i feel what only i can feel and if that don't appeal to you, let me know and i'll go 'cause i flow better when my colors show. if you're trying to turn me into someone else, its easy to see i'm not down with that. i'm not nobody's fool. if you're trying to turn me into something else, i've seen enough and i'm over that. i'm not nobody's fool. if you wanna bring me down, go ahead and try. )
06. MOST GIRLS de hailee steinfeld ( most girls are smart and strong and beautiful. most girls work hard, go far, we are unstoppable. most girls, our fight to make every day, no two are the same. i wanna be like, i wanna be like most girls. )
07. I EAT BOYS LIKE YOU FOR BREAKFAST de ida maria ( you came to my island, you stepped on my lawn. you pissed off the dog too, you won't last 'til dawn. you insulted my mother, you crapped on my father, say your last prayers mister. i eat boys like you for breakfast, where's my knife and fork now? )
08. I AM WOMAN de helen reddy ( i am woman, hear me roar, in numbers too big to ignore. and i know too much to go back and pretend, 'cause i've heard it all before. and i've been down there on the floor, no one's ever going to keep me down again. yes, i am wise, but it's wisdom born of pain. yes, i've paid the price, but look how much i gained. if i have to, i can do anything. i am strong, i am invincible, i am woman. you can bend but never break me, 'cause it only serves to make me more determined to achieve my final goal. and i'll come back even stronger, not a novice any longer, 'cause you've deepened the conviction in my soul. )
09. WHO SAYS de selena gomez ( i'm sure you got some things you'd like to change about yourself, but when it comes to me i wouldn't want to be anybody else. i'm no beauty queen, i'm just beautiful me. who says, who says you're not perfect? who says you're not worth it? who says you're not pretty? who says you're not beautiful? who says? who says you're not star potential? who says you're not presidential? who says you can't be in movies? listen to me, listen to me. who says you don't pass the test? who says you can't be the best? who said, who said? would you tell me who said that? )
10. HERE I AM de carly patterson ( looking back, where i'm from, can't believe that i'm here. gave my all, payed the price, and i do it again. i've walked alone, in my head, i've cried in my bed. but the morning lights, oh so bright, wake me again. it's about faith and it's about fate, it's about risking it all everyday. it's about holding when you wanna let go. it's just believing in all that you know. here i am now, standing on the edge, everything i know coming together. all my life i've seen it in my dreams, waiting for the day i'm just a second away. break it down, in my head, i can see it so clear. i work it out in my heart, i see it appear. the world it so beautiful from the view up here. it's about reaching when there's nothing inside. it's about breathing when all is too much. it's about standing when you wanna give up. everything is disappearing, standing up here alone. and i feel like i'm standing forever, this is where i belong. )
11.TOMORROW de avril lavigne ( and i wanna believe you when you tell me that it'll be ok. yeah, i try to believe you, but i don't when you say that it's gonna be, it always turns out to be a different way. i try to believe you, not today. i don't know how i'll feel tomorrow. i don't know what to say, tomorrow is a different day. tomorrow it may change. )
12. PERFECT TO ME de anne-marie ( don't feel like putting makeup on my cheeks, do what i wanna. love every single part of my body, top to the bottom. i'm not a supermodel from a magazine, i'm okay with not being perfect, 'cause that's perfect to me. no matter where i go, everybody stares at me. not into fancy clothes, i'm rocking baggy jeans. getting too close for comfort, but comfort is what i need, so i eat my body weight in chocolate and ice cream. maybe i bite my nails and don't think before i speak, don't fit in any crowd, don't ever get much sleep, i wish my legs were bigger, bigger than new york city, and i'll love who i want to love, 'cause this love is gender free. sometimes i wake up late and don't even brush my teeth. just wanna stuff my face with leftover mac and cheese. you know i get depressed, are you impressed with my honesty? so i wear what i wanna 'cause i'm cool with what's underneath. )
13. SISTERS ARE DOIN’ IT FOR THEMSELVES de eurythmics ( now there was a time when they used to say that behind every "great man", there had to be a "great woman". but in these times of change you know that it's no longer true. so we're comin' out of the kitchen 'cause there's somethin' we forgot to say to you. sisters are doin' it for themselves, standin' on their own two feet and ringin' on their own bells. now this is a song to celebrate the conscious liberation of the female state. mothers, daughters and their daughters too. woman to woman, we're singin' with you. the "inferior sex" got a new exterior. we got doctors, lawyers, politicians too. everybody, take a look around, can you see there's a woman right next to you. )
14. WOMAN’S WORLD de little mix ( if you never been told how you gotta be, what you gotta wear, how you gotta speak, if you never shouted to be heard, you ain't lived in a woman's world. and if you can't see that it's gotta change, only want the body but not the brains, if you think that's the way it works, you ain't lived in a woman's world. no, no (try livin', try try livin'), oh, no (try livin', try try livin'), oh (in a woman's world), try livin' in a woman's world. just look at how far that we've got and don't think that we'll ever stop. know that there will be a day when everyone's treated the same, it's the only way it's got to be. )
15. MEN EXPLAIN THINGS TO ME de tacocat ( i already know how this is gonna go. tell me to calm down, tell me to calm down again. don't tell me what to do, my feelings won't subdue just because you told them to. you're a cliché, useless in every way. this land is your land in the palm of your hand, i'll walk around so you can stand. you're in my way, everyday. we get it dude, we've already heard enough from you, the turning point is overdue. )
16. FLY de hilary duff ( in a moment, everything can change, feel the wind on your shoulder. for a minute, all the world can wait, let go of your yesterday. all your worries, leave them somewhere else, find a dream you can follow. reach for something, when there's nothing left, and the world's feeling hollow. can you hear it calling? can you feel it in your soul? can you trust this longing? and take control. fly, open up the part of you that wants to hide away. you can shine, forget about the reasons why you can't in life, and start to try, 'cause it's your time, time to fly. and when you're down and feel alone, just want to run away, trust yourself and don't give up, you know you better than anyone else. )
17. NEVER GIVE UP de sia ( and i won't let you get me down. i'll keep gettin' up when i hit the ground. oh, never give up, no, never give up no, no, oh. )
18. HOW DOES IT FEEL de avril lavigne ( i'm not afraid of anything, i just need to know that i can breathe. and i don't need much of anything but suddenly, suddenly. i am small and the world is big, all around me is fast moving. surrounded by so many things, suddenly, suddenly. how does it feel to be different from me? are we the same? i'm young, and i am free, but i get tired, and i get weak. i get lost, and i can't sleep. i am small and the world is big, but i'm not afraid of anything. )
19. DEATH de white lies ( i love the feeling when we lift off, watching the world so small below. i love the dreaming when i think of the safety in the clouds out my window. the sky's set out like a pathway, but who decides which route we take. as people drift into a dreamworld, i close my eyes as my hands shake. and when i see a new day, who’s driving this anyway. i picture my own grave, 'cause fear's got a hold on me. floating neither up or down, i wonder when i’ll hit the ground. )
20. DOWN de jason walker ( i shot for the sky, i'm stuck on the ground, so why do i try? i know i'm gonna fall down. i thought i could fly, so why did i drown? i never know why it's coming down. )
21. PART OF ME de katy perry ( you took my light, you drained me down, but that was then and this is now, now look at me. this is the part of me that you're never gonna ever take away from me, no. throw your sticks and your stones, throw your bombs and your blows, but you're not gonna break my soul. )
22. RISE UP de andra day ( and you can't find the fighter, but i see it in you. so we gonna walk it out, move mountains. and i'll rise up, i'll rise like the day. i'll rise up, i'll rise unafraid. i'll rise up, and i'll do it a thousand times again. and i'll rise up, high like the waves. i'll rise up in spite of the ache )
23. FIGHT SONG de rachel platten ( this is my fight song, take back my life song, prove i'm alright song. my power's turned on, starting right now i'll be strong, i'll play my fight song. and i don't really care if nobody else believes, 'cause i've still got a lot of fight left in me. like a small boat on the ocean, sending big waves into motion. like how a single word can make a heart open. i might only have one match, but i can make an explosion. )
24. BREAKAWAY de kelly clarkson ( trying hard to reach out, but when i tried to speak out felt like no one could hear me. wanted to belong here, but something felt so wrong here, so i prayed i could break away. i'll spread my wings and i'll learn how to fly, i'll do what it takes 'til i touch the sky. and i'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change and breakaway. buildings with a hundred floors, swinging 'round revolving door, maybe i don't know where they'll take me but gotta keep moving on, moving on, fly away, breakaway. out of the darkness and into the sun, but i won't forget the place i come from. i gotta take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway. )
25. FREAK OUT de avril lavigne ( try to tell me what i shouldn't do, you should know by now i won't listen to you. walk around with my hands up in the air, 'cause i don't care. you don't always have to do everything right, stand up for yourself and put up a fight. just let me live my life, i can't ever run and hide. i won't compromise, 'cause i'll never know. )
26. RUN THE WORLD (GIRLS) de beyoncé ( some of them men think, they freak this like we do. but no, they don't, make your check come at their neck. disrespect us? no, they won't. this goes out to all the women getting it in, you're on your grind. to other men that respect what i do, please accept my shine. boy i know you love it, how we're smart enough to make these millions, strong enough to bear the children then get back to business. see, you better not play me. who are we? what we run? the world. who run the world? girls. )
BONUS. MISS INDEPENDENT de kelly clarkson ( miss independent, miss self-sufficient, miss keep-your-distance. miss unafraid, miss out-of-my-way, miss don't-let-a-man-interfere, no. miss on-her-own, miss almost-grown, miss never-let-a-man-help-her-off-her-throne. so, by keeping her heart protected, she'd never ever feel rejected. little miss apprehensive, said ooh, she fell in love. what is the feelin' takin' over? thinkin' no one could open my door. surprise, it's time to feel what's real. what happened to miss independent? no longer need to be defensive. goodbye, old you, when love is true. misguided heart, miss play-it-smart, miss if-you-want-to-use-that-line-you-better-not-start, no. but she miscalculated, she didn't want to end up jaded, and this miss decided not to miss out on true love. so, by changing her misconceptions, she went in a new direction and found inside she felt a connection, she fell in love. when miss independence walked away, no time for love that came her way. she looked in the mirror and thought today, what happened to miss no-longer-afraid? it took some time for her to see how beautiful love could truly be. no more talk of why can't that be me, i'm so glad i finally see. )
╰ ❄ feliz navidad y año nuevo, ale.

*Baila tap* Que onda, it’s the me again 8).
Me emociona poder vivir otro año contigo a mi lado.
