what do d!word girlie and matty do for vacations with the babies? do they go to a little seaside lodge and take mayhem and have a cosy little week away? or is it more of an abroad holiday, matty playing in the pool with the babies? I’m dreaming of their little family on an evening in Spain, girlie with a cocktail, baba asleep in her pushchair, maybe you and matty having a game of pool.
given that the kids come on tour with you even as babies, i think you and matty decide that - for the first little while, at least - staycations in the uk are kinda the move so it feels more like a holiday rather than work, if you get me. the seaside idea is genuinely adorable: a little cottage on the yorkshire coast somewhere, i think, at the beginning of june before the schools let out, so it's quieter but still summery. i see lyla being around eighteen months old, walking and talking-ish and being so good with her brother, who's maybe four months old at this point and giggles every time she talks to him; they spend a lot of their time in the cottage garden on a picnic blanket having little baby convos and generally just being heart-meltingly cute, mayhem lying beside them like he's babysitting lmao. you and matty start out taking turns keeping an eye on them and playing with them or reading a book and sunning yourself, but it quickly devolves into the four of you (and mayhem) all lying on the grass laughing and playing together. you go to the beach as well, which is really fun - lyla sticks one foot in the water and says it's too cold, so she and you go and explore the rock pools to look for starfish, while matty wades ankle-deep into the sea with alex in his arms and makes him laugh by kicking up the water (and he laughs even louder at mayhem splashing around).
you go to the beach in spain with them too, on their first holiday abroad, when alex is just over eighteen months old and lyla is almost three - she's still not too bothered about the sea (she does like that it's warmer though lol), but alex is a proper little water baby, toddling around in the shallows and smiling the whole time. the sea air and the 5 million sandcastles matty builds with them really do tire them out, so the rest of the day for the kids is just siesta, dinner, bed; they're so tired, though, that they fall asleep on matty in the restaurant after they've eaten, bless them, so as soon as you've finished your marg it's time to go back to the villa. which, honestly, could fit about twenty people - you let matty book it (a mistake, but he insisted) and when you saw it you were like "baby. this is a party villa. we're a family of four with two toddlers", and matty was like "and? we can have a party with them lol. and it's all on one floor, so it's easier to keep an eye on the kids". while the babies are asleep in their room, you and matty are in the games room across the hall, playing pool and air hockey (which matty was shocked by your prowess at lol) and table football (which you've both decided you're going to buy for the house back in london). it's a good laugh, and it actually feels a lot like one of your early dates; when you say that to matty, he smiles and says "you're right, sweetheart. it's nice. and it's nice to think back to our first date and compare it to now, the two of us married and on holiday with our kids, but still getting the same butterflies we did back then. don't think i'll ever stop getting butterflies from you, darling, and i don't want to" <3

Families looking for adventure, value and plenty of laughs should consider a break at one of the UK’s brilliant holiday parks.
When it comes to cheap breaks, UK holiday parks are ideal for families. Haven’t been to one recently? Worried it’s all naff entertainment and basic cabins? Think again.
The post-war generation grew up on holidays at Butlins and Pontins holiday camps in the 50s and 60s. While many still think of TV's 'Hi-de-Hi!' when considering a park holiday, these days holiday parks have transformed into modern, exciting places to take the family for a break.
Think games centres, exciting entertainment, a choice of restaurants, spas and modern bedrooms with all of the latest gadgets and conveniences. Many have had sparkling makeovers to match hotel standards and affordable rates are available for self-catering holidays, as well as a range of other board options.
From hotel-style complexes and forest lodges, to beachside chalets and caravans, holiday parks offer a wide range of accommodation styles and facilities to suit every budget. Each park has its own character and menu of activities, so compare parks to find the right one for you and your group.
Overseas travel may not be a sure thing this summer but if you're ready to embrace life after lockdown, now is the perfect time to start planning a staycation in the UK.
And why not, ey? Britain is blessed with some cracking coastline, world-class cities and spectacular rural regions. Plus, when the weather’s right (and it does happen occasionally!), it's hard to beat the UK as a holiday destination. So, without further ado, let’s have a look at Britain's best staycation destinations.
Who needs the Med when you’ve got Cornwall on your doorstep? No, we’re not joking – if you think Cornwall (or Kernow as you might hear the locals call it) is just about pasties, then think again! England’s west extremity has the lot.
Besides Cornwall’s many stunning beaches, the region has a deep sense of heritage and a vibrant creative side to explore. For the latter, look no further than the incredible Eden Project or Tate St Ives.
Hankering for some great food? Head to pretty Padstow, which boasts excellent restaurants including chef Rick Stein’s flagship fish venue. The surf’s up in Bude, Newquay and Perranporth, and, of course, no trip to Cornwall would be complete without a visit to iconic Land’s End.
Where should I stay in Cornwall?
The pretty harbour villages of St Ives and Padstow are not exceptions in Cornwall – the coast is dotted with these traditional little seaside villages, perfect for a relaxing week by the sea.
Newquay and Falmouth are larger towns, both connected to great beaches, making them very popular with families for a UK staycation. Campsites pepper the landscape too, for those really looking for value for money this year.

Best Things To Do in Skegness
Skegness in Lincolnshire is an amazing place to take a staycation. Ignore what newspapers have written about Skegness. All of the articles which don’t rate Skegness have never visited the popular Lincolnshire seaside resort.
It is one of the best places to take a staycation in the UK with plenty to do and lots of places to stay. That includes from caravan parks to hotels.
I have put together the best things to do in Skegness during your holiday

Our Favourite UK Drive On Beaches
There is something special about being able to drive straight onto the beach, isn’t there? For us; the sheer practicality of having everything to hand without having to lug it all on a three mile hike from the car park is a massive positive. But for my boys I suspect it’s the fact that it feels adventurous and a little bit risky that appeals the most. And since we’ve had the van there’s the…

One Month and Six Days...
I’m honestly so excited for my holiday to Devon. I can’t wait to breathe in that sea air, walk through flowery fields, eat fish and chips by the sea, lick sugar from doughnuts off my lips, get brain freeze from too many caramel icecreams, and drink (light) fruity cider with my man whilst we celebrate our first wedding anniversary and our fifth general anniversary.
It’s a shame we’re not going abroad this year (saving a house deposit) but we’re still going to have a wonderful seaside holiday.

How Dog of the Year works
Entries
We want to see high quality photos of dogs enjoying themselves outside – especially out in the countryside. Try to capture the character of your dog having fun and make your dog the focus of the image.
There are five categories that you can potentially enter. Big dog, Medium dog, Small dog are based on Kennel Club ratings for breeds so if you’re in any doubt as to which category your dog fits, then visit the Kennel Club A-Z of breeds to find out more.
We’ve also got a Working dog category for traditional country breeds as well as a Rescue dog category. You may enter your dog into two categories (eg, rescue dog and big dog) if appropriate.
Competition entries have now closed.
Voting
Each category will undergo a preliminary assessment round from an expert judging panel, including contributors to BBC Countryfile Magazine, to create a shortlist for each category. The judges will assess the images against a series of criteria, including quality of image, composition and originality. Once the top 10 dogs have been selected for each category by the judges, the public vote will open on 1st November to determine the winner in each category. The judging panel will then select a supreme champion Dog of the Year from the five category winners.

The most beautiful seaside villages in the UK
The most beautiful seaside villages in the UK
The sound of lapping waves on the shoreline, huddles of children giggling as they hunt for sea life in the harbour and the smell of fresh seafood in the air – Great Britain is blessed with a vast and beautiful coastline, along which are dotted an abundance of quintessential seaside villages. With summer 2021 set to be yet another of staycations, while foreign travel remains alarmingly…

Not long now before this starts spinning again!! Who has taken a ride on the big wheel? What did you make if it? In our opinion, its not as scary as youd think to look at, the carriages are pretty stable so you feel secure...... you do get lovely views of the prom on it so would be worth a ride either way 👍 #centralpier #blackpool #piers #ferriswheel #seaside #ohidoliketobebesidetheseaside #beach #coast #sea #blackpooltower #uk #staycation (at Blackpool Promanade) https://www.instagram.com/p/CL_8qqkg1na/?igshid=1jpt5o87h2v0c
