not to be controversial on main, but I actually really enjoyed season 2 of Arcane and I especially loved Caitlyn's arc.
The way they showed how her grief changed her directly after her mother's death with no time to process or mourn??? beautiful. The way she felt responsible in her own way because she didn't want to hurt Vi at the deranged tea party by killing her sister? Spectacular. Latching on to anger and hatred because it's easier than dealing with the grief of her loss and trauma? Brilliant.
And Ambessa capitalizing on that? Filling the chasm that Caitlyn's losses left behind? Delicious.
But as time goes on, she realizes the person she's becoming. Now that the grief of her mother's loss has scarred over, she becomes aware of just how much she's changed and the toll it has taken on her. The scene with Maddie, where she keeps shrugging off the physical intimacy (outside of the sex they just had), shows this inability to accept affection because she knows she doesn't deserve it. (I'm sure there's also Vi in the back of Caitlyn's mind as well).
She actively challenges Ambessa's decisions in regards to Zaunites in Act II. But there's also this drive to make her proud as well because Ambessa has that affect on people (Ambessa is a fantastic character in this regard and I love her).
And by Act III, she has accepted what she has done in her grief and anger and hatred. She hates what she is and what she's done. She knows there's no way to take any of it back.
So she moves forward.
She gives Vi the chance to escape with Jinx, knowing she'll be alone again afterwards. She puts herself in the thick of the battle against Ambessa's forces in the plan to stop Viktor. Even with a gun to her head followed by a knife in her side, she never stops fighting. Not just for Piltover now, but for Zaun, too. In the fight against Ambessa, she sees what needs to be done to give Mel the upper hand and she knows what it will cost her.
She does it anyway.
Iconic.
Caitlyn will never be who she was before the loss of her mother and she knows nothing will erase what she did in the aftermath.
But she will always keep moving forward.
#'but skillz the war crimes!!!'#okay but watch cult classic 90's show Xena: Warrior Princess and you too can learn to enjoy fictional characters who have nuance!#also watch Killjoys#and read She Who Became the Sun#arcane posting#arcane spoilers////

Umbra Witch Yuu
@sapphirepastries @twisted-dreamscape
I had an idea for Umbra Witch Yuu, so after each Overblot fight. I imagine they get a new weapon from the fight or they get new ones from Rodin if the world's are closely connected and Umbra Witch Yuu can travel to the Gates of Hell.
Queen of Hearts (Heartslabyul)
Royal Reckoning
This enchanted axes embodies the queen's authority and power.
The Royal Reckoning have a special ability called "Hearts' Fury, where upon striking enemies, it creates ethereal projections of playing card suits (hearts, diamonds, spades and clubs) that Swirl around Bayonetta, enhancing her attacks and providing protective barriers.
This axes possesses a vibrant color scheme, incorporating the Queen of Hearts' iconic red and black colors along with intricate details reminiscent of Wonderland's whimsical aesthetic.
Scar (Savanaclaw)
Predator's Claws
These claws would embody the lethal and stealthy qualities of a predator.
The Predator's Claws have a sleek and deadly elegance of a big cat's claws. They have a dark shadowy appearance with etchings resembling paw prints along the blades.
Their special ability involves a Shadow Stalk, allowing Yuu to momentarily blend into the shadows, becoming nearly invisible to enemies. This enables Yuu to plan surprise attacks or evade incoming threats.
Ursula (Octavinelle)
Tidebreaker's Grasp
The Tidebreaker's Grasp is a formidable trident with the essence of the ocean depths. The design reflects the swirling, dark waters of the sea, adorned with intricate seashell motifs and a deep, oceanic color palette.
The Tidebreaker's Grasp harnesses the power of the tides, allowing Yuu to manipulate water-based attacks. It summons surges of water to knock down enemies and create a protective barriers of swirling currents that deflect incoming projectiles.
Jafar (Scarabia)
Eternal Scepter
The Eternal Scepter design features a serpent mortif, with a coiling snake winding around the staff. The staff is adorned with ornate engravings and glowing gemstones, exuding an aura of dark magic.
The Eternal Scepter grants Yuu control over arcane forces, allowing them to unleash devastating magical attacks. It conjures swirling vortexes of dark energy and cast illusions to confuse and disorient her enemies.
Evil Queen (Pomefiore)
Envious Reflection
The Envious Reflection takes the form of an ornate handheld mirror adorned with intricate filigree and gemstones. The surface gave a dark smoky appearance, hinting at the mirror's mystical and nefarious abilities.
The Envious Reflection have the power of illusion and manipulation. It creates mirage or phantasm duplicates to confuse adversaries, making them doubt reality itself. It possess the ability to felect enemy attacks back upon them, turning their own strengths against them.
Hades (Ignihyde)
Stygian Reaper
The Styigan Reaper embodies the dark and ominous essence of the underworld. It's design features a sleek obsidian blade adorned with intricate blue etchings depicting scenes from the realm of the dead. The handle is wrapped in firey blue tendrils that writhe and twist giving it an omnious and foreboding appearance.
The Stygian Reaper taps into the powers of the afterlife, allowing Yuu to summon spectral manifestation that drain the vitality of their foes.
Malefcient (Disamonia)
Nightshade Horns
The Nightshade Horns is a tall and elegant staff, adorned with twisted thorns and dark, iridescent crystals. It's design incorporate dragon motifs and exudes an eerie, greenish glow.
The Nightshade Horns harness the powers of dark sorcery, allowing Bayonetta Yuu to conjure swirling mists of dark energy and unleash bolts of arcane power that linger, causing lingering damages to the enemies.
I hope this is considered interesting for Umbra Witch Yuu. Also, there was a tag on Bayonetta Yuu on my blog. It was originally on TwistedOverbloat blog, but that has been deactivated, soooo..... yeah.

WELL TOO BAD IM GIVING YOU A FANDOM ASK LMAO
D, F, S, W (if you don't have five fandoms just pick the ones you like hehe)
If I had a nickel for everytime a fandom ask meme from a mutual was delivered in a semi-threatening way, I’d have at least a couple (I am bad at math)
Cut because it got a bit long.
D- A pairing you wish you liked but just can’t
Do you know how much it hurts to not fuck with the only (important) canon mlm couple in Inquisition? I love Dorian as a character, and I also like Iron bull, but them together is a personal ick. They constantly coast on the line between flirting and harassment and I don’t personally jive with that. It’s a fine ship I just can’t bring myself to be a full supporter. There’s not even a ship I like more for either of them it’s just a squick thing.
F- What’s the longest you’ve ever been in a fandom
Time isn’t real, but doing the math in my head, I think I was stuck in my jjba phase the longest. I’m not checking because looking at the posts I made as a 15 year old hurt to remember, but I think I was stuck in there for like 4 years. Good for my artistic journey but horrible for fandom etiquette lessons.
S- Show us an example of your personal headcanon
This one is phrased a little awkwardly, so I’m just gonna say what my most common headcanon tends to be. The transgender ray. If I relate to a man in a piece of media, he’s not cis anymore. Simple rules. There is nothing more powerful than adding top surgery scars to fanart with no elaboration.
W- 5 favorite characters from 5 different fandoms
I assure you friend, I have plenty of fandoms I simple just refuse to post about. There is a notable difference between character who is my favorite and character who is hot, so I’ll try to stay away from just lite-horny posting.
Elden ring: Not the guy in my icon surprisingly. I am a Rogier supporter to the end. My favorite dead boyfriend in a fromsoftware game. There’s something so magical about watching him fail in such avoidable ways. I also like how he’s one or three guys who are doomed no matter what you do. Dead divorced man club remains strong.
Dragon age: Anders. I have many thoughts about the man but they all boil down to “he was right”. He did nothing wrong because he is my little princess and I hold him accountable for nothing.
Dungeon Meshi: Chilchuck (can you tell that I like sad men yet) He’s the most proper voice of reason in the main gang, but☝️ that doesn’t mean he’s the most normal. Also the teen dad trope speaks to me for some reason.
Jjba: I will present to you my only piece of jojo merch

Arcane: I don’t post about Arcane like at all but know that I have been a Jayce supporter since 2021 and have never once doubted him.

Free for all time! I just saw you have a lady mage Adaar and I am dying to meet her, with the poetry prompt "it’s necessary for us to be transformed each moment into an icon"
thank you for asking about my newest bebbe, Bryn! I'm still fleshing them out and love any chance to explore who they are, so I appreciate this so much
it’s necessary for us to be transformed each moment into an icon
cw: saarebas body-modification mentions, fantasy racism
"Oxman."
"Beast."
"Brutish."
"Savage."
"Darling."
Bryn Adaar holds tight to that one, precious darling that drips from Madame de Fer's wry mouth. Whether sarcastic or not, it doesn't matter. The First Enchanter still lays a hand on their arm and calls them darling, while looking directly up into their eyes.
"They will fear us or love us," she says. "Make their attention your power."
"Us?"
Vivienne smiles, the dim light of the chantry making her teeth bright in the brown of her face. "Why, we're mages, my dear. Who do we have if not each other?"
-
"You do not use a staff."
Bryn snuffs out the flame dancing in their hand, then shakes the ash loose as they eye the dead bandit at their feet. "No. Tama didn't, and neither do I."
Dorian Pavus frowns, looking between them and the charred corpse in the grass. "It's all rather uncivilized, isn't it? What if your spell goes wrong, or you charge it with too much mana? Won't you blow your hand right off?"
A dozen frozen memories flash behind their eyes — their tiny fingers tracing the scarred holes around Tama's mouth, a cropped tongue trapped behind Tama's teeth, scars around Tama's neck from a heavy collar that broke long ago, Tama's hands signing <Your power is your own, and no one can control it but you.>
Bryn straightens, making strong the line of their shoulders. The mage beside them is very small, even for all his golden finery, well-waxed mustache tips, and perfectly coiffed hair. It is one of the few moments they are glad to be large. Make their attention your power.
"No," they say. "My spells will not go wrong. Don't worry about my hand, Dorian, I have it under control."
-
"You have no formal training?"
Bryn looks sharply at Solas's face. The thin lines of it are lit from beneath by the flickering green in their palm.
"Neither do you," they say, "hedge mage."
He concedes this with a tiny inclination of his head. A swell of blue swallows his hand, wrapping around and around under the twists of his fingers. The fire flickers nearby, casting shadows against the walls of their tents and deep among the trees beyond.
"I understand your mother taught you what she knew," he murmurs. "It could not have been much, considering how the Qun treats its mages."
Bryn bristles. "She taught me enough."
He looks up at them. The hollows of his eyes are dark in his skull. "Enough to keep you alive thus far. But for how much longer? This is a dangerous world for a mage at all, and perhaps even more so for one of your... stature."
They square their shoulders. "Why do you tell me this? What could I possibly do about it?"
Solas considers them, a slow smile creeping over his face. The blue magic fades from around their hand, and he releases their fingers from his own as if casting away a spider. "Posturing is necessary, Herald. It is an unfortunate reality that you will be transformed into an icon in a world such as this, in the position you hold. Take care to make it one that they will remember."
"Stop talking in circles," they sigh. "I'm tired of it."
He surges to his feet, barely as tall as they are even as they sit. He stares evenly at them, eye to eye for the first time since they awoke in the bowels of Haven's chantry.
"I have a book for you to read," he says finally. "Stay here."
And so they wait, until Solas returns from his tent with said book in hand. He drops it into their lap — the title is a scrawl of something foreign, paired with a translation beneath.
"Here is what is known of the path of the arcane warrior," he says. "I believe it would suit you and your staffless style. Vivienne knows more of the modern chantry application as a knight enchanter, and Leliana may have more resources for you otherwise. I would teach it to you myself if I knew it."
Bryn watches him, wary, as they gingerly pick up the book. They thank him with naught but a tight smile — the moment his back is turned, they flip to the first yellowed page.

Propelled by four massive legs this towering ziggurat lurches across the landscape smashing any obstacle, natural or man-made, in its path. Cast from bone-white stone the hatches of a long-dead language scar the railings of mammoth steps. The heads of crushed icons from across the world and throughout history adorn its corner terraces, inner spaced with black-iron statues of a grim-faced clergy. Borne on eddies of crackling, blue magic a stone visage floats above the ziggurat's zenith. Forever cast with an expression of condemnation this is the face of the sorcerer-king Enuk'lun. Arcane might pulses in its eyes, eager to eradicate the heresy of divinity. The Living Temple of Enuk'lun serves two purposes. First, the ancient structure keeps the memory of the sorcerer-king alive untold generations after his demise. Second, to erase all faiths which do not venerate Enuk'lun above all others. https://boxofteeth.blogspot.com/2019/10/the-living-temple-of-enuklun.html

→ transgender SILCO icons. → → i’m fully aware that silco is a bad person; let me have my comfort headcanons. liking a character doesn’t mean i support their actions.
[ID: 3 circular icons of Silco from the show “Arcane”. Silco is a pale, slender man with short slicked-back brown hair and rather sharp features. His right eye is green, whilst his left eye is red with a black sclera, and the left side of his face is covered with a large scar, similar to a burn scar. He wears a dark red button-up shirt, a black and gold vest, and a gold tie. Behind him in these icons is the transgender pride flag: a blue stripe, a pink stripe, a white stripe, another pink stripe, and another blue stripe.
The first icon shows Silco looking at someone off-screen. He’s sitting in a chair, with his right elbow propped up on his desk, and his hand loosely curled in front of his face. His head is turned to the side, and he has a neutral, bored expression on his face.
The second icon shows Silco looming over the camera. He’s standing straight and looking down at something on the ground, with a stern expression on his face. His clothes are dirty, and he’s tinted with red light.
The third icon shows Silco turned to the side, with his head turned to face the camera. His right hand is curled loosely in front of his face, and he’s looking at someone off-screen with a slightly annoyed expression on his face. /End ID]

Class Feature Friday: Orc Bloodline (Sorcerer Bloodline)
I think there’s a stereotype in a lot of fantasy settings that orcs are not magically inclined, perhaps because of their supposed lack of civilization, or the intelligence penalties they sometimes have, which I feel is a rather unfair assumption. Certainly there are fewer intelligence-based casters, but that is hardly the only way to do magic. One works with that works best, after all, but orcs are perfectly capable, if not adept, at any form of magic they put their mind to.
This brings us to the subject of today’s entry, the orc sorcerer bloodline. Many will question how it is a species with no supernatural properties produces an inheritable magical trait? Simply put, this bloodline has less to do with biological magical potential than it does emotions and cultural identity that persist far beyond death into one’s descendants.
I’ll be honest, the language that this bloodline uses banks a lot on the violent stereotypes of orcs, but if we consider it not from the perspective of “inherited bloodlust and rage”, but rather from the perspective of inheriting the warrior pride and need for respect present in orc culture, manifesting in a command of the arcane, calling upon their ancestor’s determination and imposing it on reality.
When this bloodline manifests in half-orcs or non-orcs with distant orc ancestry or connection to those ancestors, this bloodline might make them seem much more orc-like in appearance, while any member of this bloodline might have an uncanny resemblance to an ancestor, including birthmarks resembling iconic scars or tattoos of said ancestor.
This bloodline is built for combat, and as we’ll see, blesses the recipient with to not only smite foes, but also enhance battle-prowess.
The spells associated with this bloodline include various fiery evocations, several transmutations bolstering physical might and rage, unleashing waves of poisonous gas, and even transforming the body into living iron.
Resilience and physical might are the name of the game with the techniques associated with this bloodline, as is striking fear into enemies and widening spells to strike large groups on the battlefield.
The arcana grants a few traits of orcish ancestry, including their nocturnal eyes, or enhances the night sight of those who already possess it. What’s more, the fury of their ancestors increases the potency of their damaging spells ever so slightly.
With a touch, these spellcasters can imbue an ally with a brief flash of battle-fury, bolstering their attacks.
Orcs rarely show fear in combat, and these sorcerers reflect that, being resistant and later immune to fear effects, as well as developing thicker skin.
Over time, their physical strength also increases, giving them the physique of hardened warriors.
This might is further bolstered by the ability to grow in size for brief periods, making them into magical juggernauts.
Finally, they truly become as an orcish warlord reborn, their bodies becoming incredibly durable and immune to the effects of fire. What’s more, they can cast a spell to turn themselves into feral warriors once a day.
Ever wondered how someone makes a melee build out of purely the sorcerer class? A lot of times, I guarantee you it was with this bloodline. Plenty of self-buffing spells and an incrementally-increasing strength increase means these sorcerers can be a quite serviceable gish without multiclassing at all. I recommend picking your spells for raw damage, buffing, and battlefield control.
This bloodline is likely to be quite common among orcs and half-orcs, but it becomes especially interesting if we give it to another race entirely. Such a character might have had a fateful encounter with the deceased spirit of an orc warrior, or perhaps the reason why they have this bloodline is a complete mystery to them, but in lands where orcs are treated poorly, it might cause the magic-savvy to view them differently.
The Deep Masters supposedly created humanity and orc-kind, but from different stock, despite their genetic compatibility. However, when a gillman woman, an offshoot of humanity, demonstrates orcish magic despite never having encountered orcs, the possibility that the two species share more than previously imagined arises.
Venox Firefang is the latest in a long line of chieftains of the Firefang clan, and has demonstrated great skill at channeling magic through her blood. With this power, she seeks to spread the influence of her people far and wide, even going as far as to capture a pair of disenchanter beasts, hoping to use them at those who would challenge her mystical might.
Far from the warfare of Emitar, the humans and orcs of Rushida could not imagine going to war with each other, for they have been peaceful allies for generations. It is considered a great honor to marry into the other ancestry, and even greater when the children of such unions sport the magic of one or the other.

Hello! I'm writing a campaign that is basically the aftermath of a different campaign, in which those Great Adventurers "saved the world." However, this campaign will be about the players dealing with the consequences of those actions, and these are the ideas I have for that.
• A great, tyrannical dragon was slain and their followers either fled of shared their fate, and now a large herd of Behir have taken residence in the area now that their primary predator is gone, and the dragons followers have now become more savage and ruthless.
• A southern country was so ravaged by the arcane battles of the War that it outlawed arcane magics and turned heavily into a Theocratic society.
• The Great Adventurers entered the Feywild in need of an artifact, and were forced to steal it; the Queen of the Fae has barred all entrance into the Feywild, which in turn has cut off all Lycans and other Fae from their influence.
• During the War, one of the Great Adventurers summoned a small army of elementals to aid them in the field; after the conclusion of the battles that they were in, the elementals wandered aimlessly until an entire kingdom went silent. The elementals begin fighting amongst themselves and combining, until it finally had enough sentience to command the others and take over a kingdom.
• The High Elven kingdom was persuaded to join the War by the Great Adventurers; after the carnage and near extinction of their forces, the High Elves went into Isolationism, literally forming a magic dome around their country. The dome is powered by (the High Elf Wizard who was in the Great Adventurers' Party).
I was hoping you could help me come up with some more/different options for causes and effects of Adventurers meddling around, and also find an actual plot and connection to them. Who even is the Big Bad??
Alright, looking at this from a writing structure perspective you’ve got a lot of really great background detail but not a lot of practical, “player facing” worldbuilding going on. Which is totally alright, and is exactly what I’m good at helping with.
I’m going to rapid fire my thoughts in no particular order, and you should feel free to use or ignore any of them
First and foremost you've got a very clear theme of a "fallen world", one where the acts of order necessary to preserve the status quo are just as damaging (if not more) than the chaos they were trying to prevent. This leads into some very interesting questions you can explore throughout the campaign such as: do the ends justify the means, chaos vs tyranny, and sacrifices made for the greater good. Ultimately it leads up to the question of "are we going to wreck the world in order to preserve it, or go wildly into a new, unknown future".
You NEED to have a home country that acts as a sort of neutral ground between all these disaster zones. It’s the homeland of one of the heroes ( who they now venerate as a cultural icon), and directly benefited from their champion’s actions out in the world. It was threatened by the villainous forces the original heroes were up against, but was too far away from the battle to end up scarred like the theocracy. This home country has typical d&d problems, but is bordered with/allies with others that have paid the cost.
A remnant of the dragon’s followers is your act 1, “fakeout” villain, deposed after the slaying of the dragon, this mid-level minion found a stretch of isolated wilderness to rule over, eventually recruiting bandits, monsters, and other creatures to its cause. They’ve formed a cult around the great dragon, but are primarily motivated by cementing their powerbase and acquiring worldly power. Their bandit raids/monster attacks/demands for tribute are the seeds for your first adventures, even if the party dosen’t find out they were a dragon-minion till later.
I’m not sure whether the great and tyranical dragon was the primary villain of the original hero’s quest, or just an incidental one. If its the latter, put its old lairing grounds in the home kingdom: seasoned monster hunters and explorers fight against the beasts breeding in the wild and keep the kingdom’s heartland from being overrun by monsters. ( a great faction for your players to join once they’ve proven themselves, and to start to see the negative effects of the past heroes)
I love the idea of an arcane ravaged theocracy, to the point where I’m making them the act 2 villains. Pushed to the very edge by the conflict, this formerly friendly nation is now in the process of putting itself back together. The theocracy teaches that the rest of the world were ungrateful for “Their” sacrifices, and uses this (and the hatred of magic still freely practiced elsewhere) to generate zeal in preperation for an invasion midway through the campaign. Evangels of their faith go out into the rest of the world (including Home-kingdom) to try and fervent resentment and mistrust of mages and other sorcerous folk. Internally, the theocracy’s rule is enforced by witchhunters who act as a kind of secret police, who hunt intellectuals, dissidents, and other “apostates” with the same hatred they turn against wizards. Terrible arcane mutants prowl the land, and will be used as warbeasts by the theocracy in their landgrab. People are starting to show these mutations too, which gives the witchhunters yet another target.
With the feywild closed, magical forests and other natural wonders have begun to die, cut off from the sustaining life force of primal energy. Tales are told about these places and their beauty, but increasingly these sites are little more than fetid swamps or wastes of dead trees, where hungry and terrible scavengers fight over what’s left. In a side adventure, a druid and her fey allies hunt to find a way to open the gate to Faerie once again, and restore the world.
Periodic elemental disasters are now common across the continent: firestorms, earthquakes, sudden glacial freezes of the ocean. The fleeting consciousness within these events are the first waking of a grand force... a chorus of elemental voices that wish to remake the world anew. While most people have learnt to deal with these disasters, a descendant of the survivors of the silent kingdom has learned to communicate with them. The survivor seeks to “wake “ the world, in order to heal its many wounds, a process that is preceded by a gauntlet of increasingly calamitous events, and followed by...... hope? ... This survivor is one of the two possible villains/allies for act 3.
Rather than having the high elves put a dome up around their country, the survivors went back the prime elvan CITY which has a dome over it and its surroundings. The home kingdom neighbors the civilization of the high-elves, and has in some ways benefited from their disappearance in that they’ve been able to absorb all the lands outside the mystic bubble (who can say no to free feudal real estate?) . Several of home-kingdom’s fastest growing towns are built on the foundations of elvan settlements, and are populated by a culture of half-elves descended from those highborn that would not abandon the world. Set the primary settlement of the players in this expansionist zone, Elvan ruins, interesting culture, lots of history to passively absorb, and far on the horizon like a second sunset: the dome.
Have this area invaded during act 2 as part of the Theocratic raids. They want revenge against the elvan wizard for his part in the destruction caused to their nation, and have a magic suppressing device that will allow them to breach the barrier and attack the elvan city. The barrier falls, but this incursion party is defeated. When the party goes to explore they find... a necropolis. Cut off from all light by the wizard’s barrier, every living thing within the barrier starved and died, the elves retreating to chambers within the base of their grand city to sleep eternal while they waited for their wizard to save them. The wizard has become a lich, and has spent the intervening millenia maintaining the barrier and researching methods of preserving his people from all further harm. His solution? Reset the world back to a time before the disaster and play it out again. This is the third cycle, and each time things get worse. The players are a new variable of his plans, and may consider him either an ally or villain for act 3. His plan involves draining mass amounts of elemental power from the world ( putting him in conflict with the survivor) to power his time-hopping spell. As beings of magic, the elements REMMEBER these cycles, and have given the survivor and her followers foreknowledge.
So there you have it, a whole campaign laid out. Chaos vs. Control with the eventual question being do the players think they can try and correct the original heroes’ mistakes, or remake the world as a fresh canvas?
Hope that helps!

25 Unique Fish Dishes (for fish-eating dragons)
This is a portion of a descriptive list I’ve put together for myself for roleplay purposes, lore blurbs, etc. The original intent was to have a d100 list, but I ran out of steam pretty early on, haha. Thought I’d share it, just in case it proves helpful for anyone else!
Aether Gumbo: An iconic and heavily seasoned soup dish from the Crystalspine Reaches, it incorporates aether hermits, a type of magical crab native to Arcane waters, alongside a dark roux and a slew of herbs and vegetables. The arcane nature of the meat causes the gumbo itself to sparkle and shimmer.
Harpy’s Roost Maeun-tang: This Wind Flight specialty is a spicy fish stew, utilizing anchovy broth, sea bass, and red chili pepper paste, alongside a wide variety of spices and vegetables, to create a soup that packs quite the punch! Servers will often allow customers to choose which fish will be cooked from a well-stocked aquarium.
Tiger Shrimp Bruschetta: This appetizer, consisting of freshly grilled bread with diced tomatoes, basil pesto, immaculately cooked tiger shrimp, and fresh mozzarella, is served at only the fanciest business parties in the Shifting Expanse, and is sure to please any Tempest Spire CEO. Now get back to work!
Steamed Royals With Garlic Sauce: Royal oysters, hunted like truffles by trained amberwing waveskimmers, can turn quite the profit; not only are their pearls worth quite a bit, but when steamed and drizzled with a nice, buttery garlic sauce, they make for an excellent-- and pricey-- meal.
Popcorn Megashrimp: Popcorn megashrimp, made from skittering megashrimp breaded, fried in oil, and peppered with cajun seasoning, are perfect for those rare occasions during which the Colonel’s XXL popcorn shrimp buckets are simply not enough.
Boston’s Devilsnap Chowder: Said to be a recipe originating from a dinner guest of the Lightweaver herself (perhaps even pilfered from her royal kitchens), this creamy chowder uses devilsnap clams, bacon bits, and a variety of veggies, alongside milk and flour (as a thickener) to create a meal that’s both filling and delicious.
Nebula Float: Often served in a tall glass and garnished with a cherry, this drink consists primarily of a soft drink such as root beer or cream soda, and is topped with a nebula floater, a particularly sweet type of jellyfish. Especially popular on hot days in southern Sornieth.
Emperor Roll: Named for one of the most fearsome beasts known to dragonkind, this delectable sushi roll calls for battered tempura shrimp, avocado, cream cheese, and spicy mayo. A plate of these is sure to keep any fish-eating dragon happy!
Angelspine Hors D’oeuvres: A small, savory delicacy consisting of raw, lightly seasoned angelspine meat, or uni. It has the texture and consistency of a firm custard, and is often served on platters at high-profile gatherings and dinner parties, where the urchin’s own golden quills are used in lieu of toothpicks.
Sand Sucker Jelly: A seasonal treat from the Sunbeam Ruins and Shifting Expanse, these leeches only come to the surface during annual floods, after which many are caught, ground up, and fried into a savory paste. Often spread on toast or crackers for a quick (and tasty) snack.
Tetra Tetrazzini: Diced ruby tetras imported from the Gladeveins, when tossed with forest mushrooms in a buttery cream sauce and splashed with a bit of sherry, make a fantastic topping for any pasta dinner. Top with almonds, fried onions, or breadcrumbs to really impress your date.
Drunken Scarlets: When not cracked over coatl tummies and eaten raw, scarlet mussels can be cooked in a flavorful white wine sauce for a quick and crowd-pleasing meal. Serve with a lemon wedge and grilled bread for extra class!
Hand-Tossed Anchovy Pizza: Regardless of what other flights might say, nobody does pizza better than the dedicated chefs at the Emberglow Hearth. What could possibly be more delicious than a pizza with hand-tossed dough and freshly made sauce, cooked on an all-natural open hearth furnace? Adding anchovies fresh from the Blacksand Annex, of course.
Star-On-A-Stick: A popular street food in coastal Fire Flight cities, vendors sell these deep fried starfish by the dozen on busy days. The crispy, oily exterior and soft, meaty interior are definitely an acquired taste if you’re not from the area.
Fallen Star Soufflé: A savory soufflé made from whipped egg whites, white wine, roasted red peppers, and meat from the fallen star starfish, alongside other ingredients. The rarity of the fallen star, compounded by the difficulty of preparation, makes this quite the expensive treat.
Tidelord’s Fingers: This traditional summer food from the Sea of a Thousand Currents is made from whitefish, which is battered and then deep-fried. While certainly not very healthy, they’re the favored snacks of many water-dwelling dragons.
Snakehead Ehomaki: A maki sushi delicacy often eaten by Wind dragons at the start of spring. Though this recipe calls for a wide variety of potential ingredients, one should traditionally only fill the roll with seven. The golden snakehead eel is the central ingredient of this ehomaki. It’s considered especially good luck to eat this dish facing the year’s lucky direction.
Ragesquid Calamari: Fried ragesquid is a staple of seafood restaurants all across Sornieth. However, their natural purple coloring oftentimes doesn’t survive the battering and frying process-- so chefs often use dye to give the calamari its distinctive purple color.
Steppes Rangoon: These appetizers are a staple of Wind cuisine restaurants, despite not actually having originated from the wind flight. They consist of crab meat, cream cheese, and seasoning, which are then wrapped in a wonton wrapper and either fried or baked.
Pickled Vampires: A favored snack from the Scarred Wasteland, plaguelings will often kill and ferment recently-fed wetland vampires, a type of leech, in a salty brine. They make for a satisfying, if bloody, treat. Non-plague dragons are noticeably less fond of these.
Luminescent Caviar: Also referred to as “Glow Roe”, this food is scavenged or farmed from the bioluminescent fish native to the Tangled Woods. Though they’re not quite as flavorful as regular caviar, their aesthetic appeal ensures that this dish is just as, if not more, expensive.
Black ‘n’ White Crab Cakes: Named partially for the Blacksand Annex and partially for the White Reaches crabs native to it, these pan-fried delicacies are served hot and are a favorite of many coatls. Add ashfall prickler hot sauce for an extra kick!
Mirrorlight Anchoïade: This dip, at one time, was quite popular in the Sunbeam Ruins, though it’s since fallen out of style in favor of olive tapenade. It consists of filleted anchovies, olive oil, garlic, and white wine vinegar, alongside hints of lemon juice and other seasonings, and it makes for an excellent (though quite smelly) snack when paired with veggies or bread.
Dumpling Squid Dumplings: A delectable treat consisting of ground dumpling squid and vegetable filling, wrapped in a thin dough, sealed, and then steamed. They’re especially delightful with a tangy sauce. Also referred to as jiaozi.
Glowstar Special: Because the Glow Star loses its luminescence the moment it leaves the water, this savory dish, consisting of smoked, seasoned starfish and kelp noodles, is prepared and served entirely underwater. This task becomes significantly more difficult when one is not in the Water Flight.

Hiraeth Creature #1069 - Parnatrusa
“There are many mountain ranges across Hiraeth, said to be arms of the Earthen Maiden so she may feel the skyward winds and greet the Sun and Moon as they pass above us. Mountains are seen as sacred places for this reason. Universally, different cultures have built shrines atop them or along their sides. The adventurous and the pious have also been called to these places, as the mountains of the world hold many secrets on top of and within them. Many mountains make up the frontier between northern and eastern Hiraeth, but the tallest of these titans is known as The Fount of Tears. The top of the mountain is completely flat, spanning miles into the air. From a distance the name looks well deserved, as the sides of the mountain cascade with many rivers and waterfalls, and the pale trees making up a forest have a ghostly quality befitting such a title, but the origin of this name came about countless generations ago, just as Hiraeth’s spiritual awakening had begun. Eons ago, a Ravenous Beast came from the celestial sea to claim Hiraeth as her territory among the vastness of the Cosmoscape. To ease her endless hunger, she looked to devour the Moon, and all it took was one touch for all the spirits of the world to swarm her until she fled. She was later sealed away by the power of Fae, but her touch was so fierce she had carelessly scarred the surface, dislodging shards of moonstone and creating the craters we can see from the land below. Moonstones are sometimes called Tears of the Goddess, and the largest tear landed atop what is now called the Fount of Tears. The grand tear eroded over time, creating a desert of moondust atop the mountain it landed on, forever shaping the future of the flora and fauna who live here.
Among the largest and most fabled of these beasts is the Parnatrusa, standing at the height of an old kingdom watchtower. Their young start as larva, their eggs buried with the dunes of moondust. Even before birth, they are saturated in celestial energies, and as they hatch and grow, they swim through the glimmering, alabaster sand. Occasionally, flying hunters try to pick off Parnatrusa while they are still young and fragile, but they are incredibly quick and cunning quarry, able to out maneuver most who track after them unless routed from their hiding spots. Even when forced to fight, Parnatrusa larva can already harness celestial magic and will charge their horn with starlight. A clutch of young look after each other and a wall of leaping horns can be enough to ward off most predators. They feed on plants growing deep under their sandy cradle, and eventually cocoon themselves downwards as well away from prying eyes. Eventually, a full grown behemoth will breech from the moondust and howl to the skies in triumph, echoing over the mountains below the Fount. Parnatrusa separate from their siblings to live solitary lives, grazing from the pale trees of their home or exploring neighbouring mountains and wildernesses. Records tell of them emerging from snow storms in northern tundras, unconcerned and uncaring of the cutting cold and whirling elements around them.
Parnatrusa wield incredible power, making them one of the deadliest things a common hunter could try to stalk. They are still able to enchant their horn with celestial magic, but now at full strength, they wield it like an ethereal scythe, able to pierce any hide or barrier. They are incredibly resistant to all magics and their howl is said to suppress arcane arts even further, causing spells to fizzle and burst into odd sparks, and even causing some Fae to become immobilized. Their most iconic spell is an incantation, where the Parnatrusa rears up and performs a rhythmic, high-pitch howl that causes a barrage of celestial arrows to rain down furiously on their foes. Though the Parnatrusa is so powerful, they are one of the rarest beasts in all of Hiraeth. This is in part because of their hyper specific brooding grounds, but also partially in due to their true nemeses. Rogue Giants, escaped from their homeland, gain a massive surge in celestial power if they consume a Parnatrusa, and though the Parnatrusa is a deadly quarry, giants are much larger and have more hunting prowess than most beasts. This deadly relationship is usually manageable, but during the Giant’s March, when the Ravenous Beast returned, the Parnatrusa were utterly devastated by sieging giants. The Ravenous Beast’s gluttony spread to the giants, and many thought the already legendary beast went extinct in the aftermath. It is only recently that distinct and echoing howls have been heard again along the snowy mountains, meaning the Fount of Tears may not be as much of a mournful place as it may seem. “
