(REVIEW) Feminism, Football, and FAREWELL, MY DEAR CRAMER: FIRST TOUCH
Farewell, My Dear Cramer: First Touch is a solid, emotionally satisfying soccer film about overcoming sexism in the sport, but does it fulfill its more ambitious goals or miss the mark?
This review was commissioned. That means I was paid to watch and review the series in question and give my honest thoughts on it. Thank you for your support. There’s a long, and pretty embarrassing, story behind this particular column. A solid sixteen months ago, I was commissioned to watch this film by a Twitter follower. I added it to my queue and intended to get to it pretty promptly. After…

if sayonara watashi no cramer had had a good anime adaptation u genuinely think it would've been over for all the lesbians on this site. like apparently insane gay girls who play soccer is a big draw so um they r 14 and they don't need the wilderness to carry chains on them

World Cup Anime of the day: Sayonara Watashi no Cramer
Tumblr media
Alt Title: Farewell, My Dear Cramer
Released: 2021
Women’s soccer has been falling in popularity in Japan. However, there are quite a few teams who are fighting to keep the game alive. Onda is one such person. She previously played on boys teams, but now she will have to leave this behind to join Warabi Seinan High School’s soccer team. Overtime she might just help overturn the popularity of women’s soccer.

Another new season of anime, another excuse to watch too many shows. Seriously, there are, like, almost 20 airing anime I’m watching right now. HELP.
86 Eighty Six: A false utopia with commentary on the nature of war, strong production values and a cast of interesting characters? Yep, this looks right up my alley.
Backflip: Pretty Boys do Sports(tm), gymnastics edition! Animation is strong and lived-in; feels like a really good team working on this one. I’m down to see where it goes.
Blue Reflection Ray: My only drop so far. I was willing to give it a chance, but it’s just boring and ugly to look at and doesn’t seem to know what it’s doing. What a shame.
Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro: On the spectrum of Teasing Waifu shows, this one is far worse than Tagaki but far better than Uzaki. Hopefully it doesn’t stay this extreme, cause, uh, she is outright bullying this dude.
Farewell, My Dear Cramer: Uuuugh, I hate how bad the production is on this one. This is from the Your Lie in April author, you really had to stick it with Lidenfilms?
Higehiro: I am told this show is actually wholesome and not creepy. I am praying that turns out to be true. Cause first impressions... aren’t promising.
I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years: Between this and Spider, Aoi Yuuki is single-handedly saving isekai. Low-key fun with promised yuri on the horizon, so you bet I’m sticking with this one.
How Not to Summon a Demon Lord Omega: I remember when this show had at least a little charm. I miss thoze days.
Joran, Princess of Snow and Blood: If I had a nickel for every anime this season centered on steampunk supernatural spycraft in approx-1930 Japan, I’d have two nickels.
Mars Red: Which isn’t much, but it’s still weird that it happened twice.
My Hero Academia Season 5: It’s more MHA, and I’m still here for it.
Pretty Boy Detective Club: So is this just if Monogatari and Ouran had a love child? Because I am here for it.
Shadows House: Still waiting on the narrative hook, but man the gothic atmosphere and mysterious setting are great. Very excited for this one.
SSSS.Dynazenon: I was lukewarm on Gridman, but this is looking like a fun time. At least the protagonist actually has a character this time.
Those Snow White Notes: I’m a sucker for a good angsty music anime, but man, this felt really rushed. At least the shamisen playing is genuinely spectacular.
To Your Eternity: Wolf’s Rain by way of the Silent Voice mangaka? Yes, yes, yes, and might I add, yes.
Vivy Fluorite Eye’s Song: Re:Zero’s author and Studio Wit collaborate on an original sci-fi anime that is absolutely knocking it out of the park so far. Don’t let this one slip under your radar, it fucking slaps.
