Things are only getting worse for Rishi Sunak's Conservative Party in the UK. These are self-inflicted wounds and they're happening just two weeks before a general election in which the Tories are predicted to have their worst showing since World War II (if lucky) or the Napoleonic Wars (if unlucky).
One of Rishi Sunak’s close protection officers has been arrested over alleged bets about the timing of the election. The officer was arrested on Monday on suspicion of misconduct in public office, the Metropolitan police said in a statement. The news comes a week on from the Guardian’s revelation that Rishi Sunak’s closest parliamentary aide, Craig Williams, had placed a £100 bet on a July election just three days before the prime minister named the date. As a result of that incident, the Gambling Commission conducted a wider investigation and found information that led to the decision to investigate the officer. The Metropolitan police said it was contacted last Friday by the Gambling Commission, which informed the force that it was investigating alleged bets related to the timing of an election by a constable from the Met’s Royalty and Specialist Protection Command.
There's also a scandal involving the wife of Chris Philp – Sunak's Minister of State for Crime, Policing and Fire. Philp takes a hard line on law and order but apparently his wife is engaged in corporate espionage.
Policing minister’s wife reported to CPS over corporate espionage claims
A leading businesswoman who is married to the policing minister, Chris Philp, has been reported to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) by a former employer and is being sued in the high court over allegations of corporate espionage. Elizabeth Philp, 40, whose husband has called for “zero tolerance” to all crime, is accused of data-handling offences and unlawfully using confidential information from her former employer to set up a rival business. She denies the allegations and is countersuing her former employer, whom she accuses of cyber-attacking the website of the company she subsequently founded.
The pro-Conservative Daily Telegraph on its front page placed a map of 2019 election results next to its projections for the July election. On the UK political color palette: Red = Labour, Blue = Conservatives, Orange = Liberal Democrats, Yellow = Scottish National Party, Light Green = Plaid Cymru (Party of Wales), Medium Green = the Greens.
Wipeout indeed! Savanta, which conducted the poll the Daily Telegraph based its 2024 map on, projects between 481 and 516 seats for Labour (depending on how results are analyzed) in the 650 seat House of Commons.
Sunak may see the writing on the wall and could be thinking of moving to California if he personally gets booted from his seat in the constituency of Richmond and Northallerton. Richmond and Northallerton is currently considered a tossup.
Rishi Sunak’s California escape hatch: His $7.2 million beach home

1-in-5 Londoners have no idea there's an election next week
Shocking figures released today show that 20% of Londoners – 1-in-5 – don’t have a Scooby Doo (it’s rhyming slang…) that next Thursday, May 2, is election day in the capital. Among younger Londoners – those under 30 years old – the lack of awareness is even greater, at 33%, or 1-in-3. Standard issue: the capital’s evening newspaper no longer has the readers it once had Worse still, it appears the…

I’m a guitarist and vocalist, though I’ve played Piano, cello, and ukulele in the past.
I do write music occasionally and my first instinct upon finishing the Chasm Questline for Genshin impact was actually to write Xiao a song-
I’ve thought about doing the same for Wuwa since I love the thematic messaging and the slogan of the franchise enough I could make it work.
Not currently planning on pulling Camellya, by that may change. I have three decent teams right now with Jinhsi, Jiyan, and Xiangli Yao so I think I’m good on DPS characters unless they really snag my attention.
Another little lore tidbit that’s been niggling at my brain though is the implications the Rover *was* human??? Or perhaps a demigod? And very much isn’t anymore. Everything from seeing the woman/goddess we see in the opening cutscene inside of the Court of Savante Ruins- to how Shorekeeper talks about us and how our past self acted. It’s just so????
I have so many questions and I’m so excited to see where we go next- not to mention I *need* a lore answer for us switching resonance affinities from Spectro to Havoc and now potentially Aero in the next major update???
Woahh! That's so much stuff it's so cool!!! Also love the idea of writing songs for characters (the Chasm quest was so beautiful, I wish I could experience it again for the first time) or games (bc YESS wuwa seems perfect for this)
Mh yeah I get it, my "approach" to pulling in the three games (genshin, hsr and wuwa) is completely all over the place: I've been playing genshin the longest (roughly 2/3 years) and I have a few well built and balanced teams but I used to be mainly focused on dps, on hsr I have a ton of supports but very few dps (like I have Ratio, I just got Himeko and I decided to pull for Acheron despite wanting to wait for Firefly) while on wuwa my luck is surprisingly good (unlike the other two games) so I somehow managed to get every character except for Chagli (but I'm totally leaning more towards the dps lol). But yeah obv these are game, at the end of the day one should pull for the characters they like
Oh yeah! I love Rover lore!! Or well lack thereof probably lol
But yeah it's so interesting! I can't wait for more I'm always excited for whatever crumb we get
Also no spoiler I promise but please when you have time do the Somnoire quest as always it's so interesting and I'm sure you'll like it! (make sure to talk to the characters before finishing the quest!)
OH ALSO! I want more lore about the Court of Savantae! Just out of curiosity I just looked it up and savantae in latin apparently means "saviours" and that imo offers a cool perspective to what they thought of their own research vs the actual results and how others saw it!
Damn I'm just so curious about Solaris' world building I'm craving lore!!
Oh plus the next region should be inspired by Italy and as an Italian I'm super curious as to how they'll do it! We'll probably get some lore bits that are inspired by our culture and history so maybe my history classes untill now will prove useful to catch these bits
#wuwa#wuthering waves#wuwa lore#court of savantae#waaaaah please never stop rambling I love chatting about games' lore

Some Bits About Xiangli Yao
Because I've seen a lot of people going "who?" lol and I enjoy the Huaxu affiliation characters.
This includes content from:
Act 1
Baizhi, Jinhsi, Mortefi, Taoqi's profiles
Huaxu Academy NPCs
Huaxu Academy documents
Court of Savantae
To begin, Xiangli Yao serves as the academic leader of Huaxu Academy. He is an expert in Automata Mechanics.
Mortefi considers him his rival, he wants to outdo him. Those at the academy considers Mortefi #2 to Xiangli Yao. The two "met" years ago at a New Federation's (Mortefi's birth country) World Expo.
Taoqi (top) and Baizhi (bottom) lines about him, supports his profile description: "He is a gentle yet rational soul."
Yao is the person you hear Mortefi calling in the beginning of the story in the Academy, and we enter his room.
That unusual device is definitely for his arm. You can see similar structures in the abandoned Court of Savantae site at Whining Aix Mire. Maybe it means something since the researchers at CSC really needed Automata Mechanics at some point? I hope it does... (https://www.tumblr.com/calcahro/755456668925657088/xiangli-yao-court-of-savantae-goofy)
He made Jinhsi's electronic To-do list
The Sugar Pearl Vaccine was tested on him and his mother
And that's all the bits for now, I think. I know some NPCs outside of the academy have mentioned him as well.

wuwa characters receiving variants in the future is a real thing and it can hurt you (maybe)
the elemental system we have with havoc, spectro, aero and all the other attributes can be flexible. characters resonate with frequencies of a phenomenon/object that can be distinguished by an elemental attribute, but cannot always be bound by it completely. there might already have been a couple cases of someone exhibiting signs of a second attribute.
for example, when jiyan summons the spear in his trailer there is a lightning effect around his hand, followed by the sound of electricity cracking.
this might be a visual representation of sound waves reverberating, or it might just be an artistic choice. but if the source of jiyan’s resonance is, say, the storm, then he can be assigned both the aero and electro attributes - hence the lightning around his hand.
but the biggest offenders for a possible double-attribute deal would be aalto and the mourning aix, walk with me.
during the ‘stygian lacrimosa’ world quest (spoilers for it right ahead btw) there is a moment when they let us control an echo of the second aix. while the two aixes fight, something weird is happening: the aix you control clearly has spectro attacks, but ui for it’s abilities is green, as if it’s attribute is supposed to be aero; while the other aix, the one we fight for ascension materials and know as a spectro-aligned creature has distinct aero attacks.
I have two speculations for what’s happening here:
1. kuro might have mixed up the attacks of two aixes, the one we control was supposed to be aero, and the other one was supposed to be left as spectro.
2. mourning aix was shown to be able to cover areas in fog earlier in the quest, so these aix TDs might be mimicking the frequencies of fog, which is a common phenomenon in the area they inhabit.
fog is formed when cold air meets warm air, condensation happens, tiny water drops form and get suspended - aero connection. but then, the water droplets in the fog stop and scatter light in all directions, which limits visibility - spectro connection. so, creatures that mimic or resonate with frequencies of fog could have both aero and spectro attributes, which is why the aixes have both aero and spectro attacks.
that sends us right to aalto, who resonates with fog. some parts of his kit already have things that might be spectro-looking: the avatar he conjures kind of looks like a prism, the mist bullets he gets from his skill and forte circuit form an attack similar to one of mournig aix's. those attacks of theirs are in turn similar in pattern to some scattering diagrams.
fun fact, Rayleigh scattering is an optical phenomenon that is behind the sky being blue, and you can find a courier in the whining aix’s mire that will ask you that exact question, ‘why is the sky blue?’. then again, the court of savantae, where we spend most of our time with aalto, is also there.
to finish the string of weird coincidences, resonance reports of both jiyan and aalto stand out too. aalto’s has statements that are loose, imprecise:
“Further tests conducted to ascertain the properties of the mist he conjures yielded inconclusive results” accompanied by “As stated in the report, this resonator is cunning and a master of disguises, thus rendering the credibility of his recounts questionable”; his report has no overclock history cause bro just ?? left ??
it’s not established what jiyan resonates with (will probably be addressed later): “Jiyan's Resonance Spectrum Pattern shows no resemblance to known samples''; then there’s this statement in his overclock diagnostic report: “there are two distinct waveforms identified, each with exceptionally high peak values”. there are characters that can create or summon creatures with their forte, and jiyan is still the only one to have a second waveform, so it’s not because of qingloong.
my point is, kuro definitely has wiggle room if they wanted to make a character variant. until further notice, jiyan and aalto would be the most plausible candidates for that in my eyes.

imagine if xiangli yao had chosen to pursue the truth above all else, chased after court of savantae technology and secrets, abandoned his place in jinzhou.
mortefi would’ve arrived to huaxu academy, likely found rumours and whispers about the genius who tarnished his family’s reputation, or followed his parent’s footsteps and disappeared, only to return changed. maybe he would’ve realised who it is — that the genius who inspired him to believe progress could be used to help others, and not just progress for progress’ sake, had fallen into a trap of scientific fanaticism.
alternatively, if xiangli left before the world expo in the new federation, mortefi would’ve never met him. would he have stayed in the new federation and swallowed his resentment at the status quo? would he have left regardless, older and disillusioned, to a different corner of a world than huanglong?

Beneath the Sands
World Quest/Caladin Story Quest
Hi! Feel free to ignore :3
For anyone interested in my upcoming little project of writing out a story/world quest, feel free to tune in and I can tag you on future updates!
This will also be tagged with #beneath the sands wuwa on my blog :3
For those interested in reading or potentially including their OCs, I’m beginning to outline the basic concepts and I’m gathering ideas!
Below will contain spoilers for the Quest plot and contain my thoughts along with a poll probably? Feel free to pause and just ask for a tag if you want to remain spoiler free :3
Alrighty!
This is primarily for those who wish to suggest ideas or participate in the project:
What we know so far
Caladin and (x) giant Tacet Discord we’re frozen in time by a unique, fairly ancient type of waveform phenomena
Said phenomenon is currently unnamed, but I feel like it’s something that hasn’t been seen in a while and there’s few records of its existence
A Court of Savantae research facility was built around the site where Caladin was initially discovered
Per usual, it fell into ruin for “unknown reasons” (they got a little too curious me thinks)
In some way or another, Rover finds themself exploring the area with a potential cast of NPCs or OCs :3
I’m unsure if I want to wait for Rinacita or another new region to write this, mainly because I suspect Caladin was frozen in the remnants of his homeland which is based of Middle Eastern nations.
So quick poll I suppose?
And finally, here’s the ideas I have so far on how some OCs could easily be inserted into the quest line:
- Jiahui by @hobbysognodilibri is a field researcher- maybe she heard about the ruins and planned an expedition???
- Valerian by @uncreative-cryptid could’ve been commissioned to help her since CSC ruins are infamously dangerous and they’ve interacted before
- Chiefly by @crypticrainbowmoss I *vaguely* remember reading something about his people originating from the desert, but I may be thinking of their other OC Sobeknesef (hope I spelled that right :’)
These are currently the three OCs I’ve interacted the most with, but anyone is welcome to join and obviously these people aren’t obligated to interact either^^
This is more so a silly little project idea of mind, but I think it’d be fun to do! I’d be happy to work on similar projects focused more on other people’s OCs as well :3

My understanding of the story of Wuwa as of 1.0:
Long ago, a cataclysm (the first Lament) devastated the world. A new form of energy (Remnant energy) caused many dangerous phenomena (Waveworm phenomena: Tacet fields, Etheric Sea, Retroact Rain), created monsters (Tacet Discords = TDs), and gave special powers to some of the population (Resonators). Since then, civilization has rebuilt, but many dangers still persist.
Within an unknown transdimensional space, a mysterious girl seemingly inserts some kind of power into you and sends you down into the world.
You awaken as an amnesiac who was found by a trio of girls (Yangyang, Chixia, Baizhi). Soon after, you display a strange power to absorb the remains of monsters into your body, while a voice in your head says it is hungry.
A message from the local leader (the Magistrate) is broadcast across the area almost perfectly matching your arrival, and when she talks about a special guest she has been anticipating for a long time, you think she might mean you. However, when you try to meet her, you are told she has been urgently called away on a vital task and she will see you in three days.
When you finally meet her, she reveals that she knew of your arrival due to a prophecy from the city's guardian dragon (the Sentinel, superscript Oracle Engine, Jue). However, the Sentinel is currently missing. You work with her to capture a high ranking member (Overseer) of an apocalyptic cult (the Fractsidus), Scar. He reveals that their group is aiming to bring about an apocalypse (another Lament) by hastening the reawakening of a powerful TD (Threnodian) nearby. They believe the world will be cleansed by the Lament, and they are the chosen few who understand the truth.
At the same time, it is revealed that Jue may have departed willingly and that it has had a vision of the Magistrate, Jinhsi, fighting against it to determine the future of the city (Jinzhou).
Jinhsi gives you two leads: the mysterious organization Black Shores and another prophecy from Jue, showing you together with the General of the local militia (Midnight Rangers), Jiyan.
You are able to meet and exchange information with two members of Black Shores (Aalto and Encore), after you cooperate to investigate the location of a failed experiment by the splinter cell of a research organization (Court of Savantae), with involvement from Fractsidus. The lingering visions of the researchers include the mysterious girl who sent you down to the world, calling her a future being hailing their past.
The Black Shores organization works to track Remnant energy across the world in order to predict the next Lament, making them your allies. Aalto reveals that this is not the first time you have "reawakened" and, the previous time, you woke up at Black Shores.
As you finish the investigation, the readings of Remnant energy go haywire as the Threnodian's awakening unexpectedly hastens and its negative influence begins to spread. You rush to the front line to meet the General, Jiyan.
Working together with Jiyan and many others, you enter the massive statue that serves as the cocoon of the Threnodian of war, Ovathrax, and defeat the powerful TDs it sends against you. When you are almost killed by its last attack, an unknown creature appears from within your Tacet Mark and swallows the Threnodian's power. With the battle no longer in its favor, the Threnodian disappears.
With this, peace returns to Jinzhou, if only temporarily.
......And that's it, though I left out a lot of details, especially about individual characters.

Marita Vlachou at HuffPost:
Conservatives in the U.K. are projected to get wiped out in next month’s general election. The party of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, which has led the country for more than a decade, is faced with a historic defeat, as voters have grown frustrated by the state of public services and by political scandals that have plagued the Tories in recent years, among other things. While the center-left Labour Party is on track to win a huge majority, everyone seems to be focused on the Conservatives. “We’re so used to thinking about elections in terms of who’s going to win, but this one, it’s much more about actually the state of the loss and who is going to be in opposition,” Louise Thompson, a senior lecturer in politics at The University of Manchester, told HuffPost. Bad news has been piling up for Sunak. On July 4, he could become the first sitting prime minister to ever lose their seat in a general election, while his party may not even win enough seats to become the official opposition, according to a recent poll conducted by market research company Savanta for The Daily Telegraph, which forecasts the centrist Liberal Democrats winning just three fewer seats than the Tories.
The findings illustrate “the risk of electoral extinction that the Conservative Party is now having to contemplate,” Savanta’s political research director wrote in an op-ed. Meanwhile, a YouGov poll released last week showed Reform UK — the populist right party of Nigel Farage, who’s an ally of former President Donald Trump — overtaking the Conservatives for the first time, spreading even more alarm in Tory circles. “No other poll reported the same finding, though every poll has reported a fall in Conservative support and nearly all a narrowing of the Conservative lead over Reform,” polling expert John Curtice noted on the BBC. “Standing at just 20%, Conservative support is now at its lowest ever in British polling history,” Curtice added.
The Tories in the UK are likely headed for a massive defeat come July 4th, and may end up 3rd or lower, meaning that they have the possibility of not even being the official opposition.

Okay okay okay
My brother made the biggest brain take on my OC
He’s giving Paladin of the Sun God
His name is up in the air *but* I’m very partial to Caladin which is very funny to me
White blonde hair, tall, dark toned and sun kissed skin, bright gold eyes
Naturally acquired Resonance ability
*Is* the big scary dog privilege-
He looks like he came straight out of an ancient world where dragons must’ve roamed- it’s giving Paladin of a Son God
As for his play style, he feels like an on field DPS *or* an off field sub DPS with some kind of grouping or AoE ability-
Very light color schemes with whites and golds- and probably black or a deep blue as a base color for some contrast???
Some defining features- probably his gauntlets looking weird as hell- either very ancient tech or something lost in the CoS. And a diadem. Couldn’t tell you why- but I bet he’d wear one. Very Paladin coded of him.
Model size would be similar to Yhan??? This man is big. Has a very strict moral compass but no one can figure out what the fuck it is. Very soft with kids but an utterly terrible influence. Calls children “Littles”, “Little ones”, or “Spawn” exclusively. Hand him a baby and you will watch a full grown man look visibly pained. He does not know how to hold babies. Please don’t trust him with your kids. He will give them knives and encourage they pursue vengeance.
Tacet Mark location: vertically striped from cheek bone to jaw
Holy shit you have him!!!
Dude that sounds insanely cool! The vibes, the color palette, the CoS, (the in-game model cough cough), the love kids but do not leave him with one unsupervised
Love the tacet mark placement it feels perfect
"has a very strict moral compass but no one can figure out what the fuck It Is" that's such a mood and such a vibe love it
Oh how I'd love to see a design for the gauntlet... So I'm assuming he'd be a limited 5* with his signature
Do you have any idea yet on how to link him to the Court of Savantae? What about his birthplace? Do you know that or are you leaving it blank bc mystery? Uuuh other questions... Oh yeah since he's a natural resonator... Does he know how his forte awakened and do you have anything in mind as to how his control over it changed as he grew up?
Ofc feel free to ignore the questions, they're there if you ever feel like answering

Xiangli Yao + Court of Savantae (goofy speculation)
I wonder if he will be connected to the Court of Savantae in some way. It's even funnier that he uses the term truthseeker like they do a lot (could just be describing researchers in general)- and he's a genius. Speak to any of the Huaxu Academy NPCs or Mortefi, Baizhi, Taoqi, Jinhsi's profiles and they'll glaze him immediately. Court of Savantae really needed the study of Automata Mechanics at some point.
Yao is incredibly smart, and the cube like structure in his lab is also at the old CSC site.
Either way I can't wait! His arm is so cool I love anything techy, or relations to robots, cyborgs, mechs in this game.
