Hearing Kevin Saunderson and meeting him - seeing how he worked - that influenced me. When I lived in Detroit, I was pretty much Kevin Saunderson's protége, and Kevin always had the hardest hitting drums. And, you know, I wasn't really going to clubs at that age, so I didn't understand why the drums had to be so loud. But then watching Kevin kill the 909, I'm like, 'Whoa.' Like, it used to hurt my chest. And I'm like, 'OK, that's what has to happen - the drums have to kill you.'
