To establish a more consistent writing schedule to help me avoid burnout and balance my time better. (We're not off to a great start here, but I'm working on it 😅)

Work on writing angst and becoming more comfortable with conflict in my writing. (I love writing comfort/fluff, but I want to expand a bit more to cover all my bases.)

Okay, this was a tough call, and I couldn't fathom searching through everything I've written this year to determine the true and proper favorite line of mine, so I just went with the last one I remember reading over and thinking, 'who wrote this? Me?!' Lol.

"His fingers trailed over the delicate fabric draping off the straps of her bra as they blazed a trail down to the lacey cups. Their touch was a whisper of praise in the softest voice, reverent and respectful, but exploring. Or, this banger, just cuz it felt like a mic drop moment to me for Nick the sassbot.

“Look at that.” Nick heard himself say as he cocked the gun loudly from his place beside the madman. 

“Sooner. Than. You. Think.” He leaned close to Pickman as he pulled the trigger, not taking his eyes from the man until he saw the light leave them, until he fell to the ground, and into a dramatic splatter of his own carnal paint.

Why are you laying this all on me? Why aren't you asking Mr Plastic Genius why he's so interested in my "caffeine consumption"? I would've thought an advanced prototype sassbot would have better things to do.

So... Are we ready yet to talk about how P03 was technically a good guy, or is this a conversation for another day?

(Inscryption spoilers below the cut, please be aware!)

I mean, think about it... He obviously doesn't know the full extent of what the OLD_DATA is - actually it seems like none of the Scrybes are entirely sure of what it is other than the fact it's something absolutely unspeakably awful - so from his perspective, The Great Transcendence is literally just ensuring that he - and the rest of the world of Inscryption - doesn't get wiped out permanently.

It's not unreasonable to assume he'd know about the plan to just delete everything; it seems like something all the Scrybes knew about to at least some extent. And I'm not saying I don't understand why Grimora and Magnificus were scheming to delete the entire game world in an attempt to get rid of the OLD_DATA (as was shown in the letter in Magnificus's place,) but think about it from the perspective of someone living in that world; and also, think about it from the perspective of someone who'd already been made to suffer and experience dying at the hand of one of their peers over and over again. It's pretty understandable that someone who was made into a pawn by a fellow Scrybe wouldn't want to literally permanently die after all that suffering; it's pretty understandable that they'd want to do everything they could not to suffer again.

And I mean... I'm not gonna try and white-knight P03 here: I love him, but he's not exactly the kindest robot in the world, clearly. But, it's shown that he's actually well-liked by the workers in his factory, and he liked the Dredger enough - or at least respected his hard work enough - to make him an NPC in Botopia...

So with that in mind, is it really that much of a stretch to say that The Great Transcendence wasn't some kind of selfish and evil decision, and was a genuine attempt by P03 - who had suffered countless times over, and didn't know the full extent of how awful the OLD_DATA that would've also been uploaded to the internet was - to save himself and everyone and everything else from permanent deletion?

TL;DR:

Leshy - uses people as pawns in an eternal game of death and suffering for them by keeping them alive and forcing them to fight

Grimora and Magnificus - plot to delete the entire world (albeit for well-intentioned reasons) and actually succeed in doing so

P03 - also uses people as pawns in a game of death and suffering for them by keeping them alive and forcing them to fight but is actively trying to ensure that the world lives on in some way and - according to the ARG - actually succeeds in doing so... though most likely, the OLD_DATA came along too

No hate to the other Scrybes, I enjoy them a lot too, but... P03's villainy doesn't seem like villainy to me; to me, he seems like someone who was ill-informed about the OLD_DATA and yes, wasn't exactly a nice guy and absolutely wanted to lord it over everyone, but was genuinely trying to do something good by ensuring that the world was uploaded to the 'real world' and not deleted forever.

When you're too warm, he's pleasantly cool... when you're too cold, he'll fire up his systems and heat you up... he'd wrap his arm around you and let you lean your head on his chest and listen to the thrumming in his chest, all the motors that make up his 'heartbeat'...
